We sat down a few minutes after 9, and chose Mr. B’s because the kitchen is open late here. Ordered a burger and fries, and my buddy ordered salmon. The food is priced competitively for Royal Oak. Service was mediocre, it took a while to find someone to confirm we were to seat ourselves, waitress didn’t ask if we wanted drinks. The food was hot, though salmon had a weird corn and black bean salad. Go for the burgers 🍔

Poor waitress only one on, on a Saturday night! Apps came out with food order. ☹️ Cold shrimp. Burgers were good. Manager should have compted our apps 30 mins to get bill.

For my wife’s 37th Birthday we made an 8:30 reservation here! Our party showed up and were seated, to start the evening I sat in a chair that had a sticky mess all over the bottom of the chair, I asked our two servers for a wet towel and received one roughly 10 minutes after with no apology or anything! We order drinks and appetizers! Once we all had one drink, we never seen a waitress again! As the host and husband I complained and the waitress brought me a drink but no one else! Around 945 after one hour our appetizers started to come out, I explained the the servers we had other reservations at 1030 and asked for our checks, not only did my party of 10 only get one or 2 drinks two of are guest received raw burgers which later sent them both home sick throwing up! This bar included a gratuity which I understand always happens with a party however I refuse to pay for TERRIBLE service! I asked for a manager and he sat at the front door as if talking to me wasn’t important! So I confronted him as we all left, he starred at me like he has heard this before with not one apology, needless to say I Will never recommend this establishment to anyone! I am a sales manager and understand what customer service is and expects I will be sure to let this experience be told! Thank you for starting my wife’s birthday off terribly! Thank goodness the next bar was amazing!

Appetizer was good (chicken wings), but that was the best part of the meal. It wasn't busy, but it took 2 hours from the time we walked in until we left. Service was not great, our server disappeared for ½hr after she took our drink order (waited 1 hr before getting food). Fries were soggy from the grease. Server did try to accommodate us by adjusting the bill. Next time, we'll stick with the wings!!!

Had a decent experience here. The atmosphere is comfortable and fun, the arcade with vintage games was a blast, but the food was mediocre at best. Only item that was worth the money was the cheese curd appetizer. One of my fellow guests had the shaved roast beef french dip which was anemic and tasteless, my burger was premade and sorely lacking in flavor. Seems like a great place to drink and have fun, but the food's cost to quality ratio is way too high to stop in for a dry meal.

This place is better than it used to be. The food is okay but the outside seating is very nice during the summer. The quality of the service is kind of mixed but liveable. The menu on their website is often not reflective of what they actually currently offer. I didn't go there for the longest time because it looked like there were no vegan burger options. They have the impossible burger and a significantly different menu from what they advertise online. Also, they have alcohol. It tastes the same everywhere so... whatever

Can't say enough about the place. Johny is a great owner, luv the true Speakeasy feel. Cocktails are upper scale. the food seems to hit the spot. Service of late has been about impeccable. Recommend several things but especially the Focaccia bread which they may need to get from upstairs. Dark dim hidden yet fun and can be romantic. First time I was there was the week they opened. Have been back several times and luv bringing friends for the experience.

Loved the mystery of finding the place. Great way to start to the experience. After walking down the steps into the unknown, we were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance. Dark yet cool. Service was prompt, which is great for a place that offers craft drinks. Tried a few drinks on the menu between me and my hubby. Drinks were solid. Only had one appetizer and it was just meh. Looking forward to going back and actually trying the food. Definitely recommend!

First things first, the service was spot on. Same for the restaurant above when we went there a couple weeks ago. They have some wonderful staff. I believe Chris was our waiter and Joe was behind the bar. The drinks here are my favorite. They all have some extra fun flair to them that really elevates the experience. The food is really good, I liked everything but you have to get the Street Ribs and the Cherry Crème Brûlée. The ambiance is dark and intimate. They had live music very fitting of a prohibition era speakeasy which we loved. It was a nice background and just loud enough to enjoy the music and still hold a conversation across the table.

Went on a date here a couple years ago and enjoyed the atmosphere but omg that lobster mac was so nasty!! They put some seeds or something weird in it and it was horrible. I honestly felt like more time was spent on the presentation of the food instead of the actual taste. Thankfully everything else was good about this place. I will try something else on the menu next time I go.

Cute space underneath Alchemi which basically serves the same food/drink menu which i eventually realized. Food was good, the lamb ragu came in a largeee portion. I've never ordered pasta ever and it did not disappoint except for the extra side of pasta water. Regardless, amazing service and the drinks were well crafted. Get the espresso martini, best one i've had ever ! Update: went again shortly after. Once again had the madagascar express, along with the basil smash and a moscow mule. The basil smash is award winning for a reason. The bartenders here are true artists. Love the vibe, go on a late Saturday night, so good.

Great food, friendly speedily service, ambiance is great! You really feel like you're in the 1920's :D Great spot to have a drink and hangout! I always get an app or dessert and their duck tacos are amazing!

Arrive, say the password, wend your way through the bowels of the building until you enter Johnny's for a delightful evening. You can reserve a table for drinks and dinner or just cocktails if you wish. Apps, small plates, large plates and desserts are on the menu. Our table of 4 started with the Thai ribs and mushroom arancini. Easy to share and great tasting! We tried the lobster 'pap' and cheese, delicious pappardelle pasta in a lobster bisque sauce crowned with a lobster tail. Fabulous! The salmon in curry sauce was perfection as well. The lamb bolognese was studded with tender shredded lamb and delicious. We tried the smoky Manhattan, the corpse reviver was the best I have had. The Peaky Blinder came with roasted marshmallows too! This is a very fun Speakeasy with a fun vibe, great drinks and delicious food! Highly recommend coming to Johnny's!

Truly a speakeasy vibe! You make a reservation via text or website & they send you a password day of! It's located in an alley way, and there's a ring doorbell outside. Someone will come to the door & ask you for the password. They escort you into the secret passageway and then boom it's a whole bar up in there. The drinks are creative! The flower pot drink was so cute! You remove the flower from the straw & sip thru there. The "soil" consist of oreos! If it's your birthday they'll give complementary crème brulee

One of my favorite places. It had been a year since we had been there and the food and service was even better. Had the Seafood Prix Fixe and it was simply outstanding and very generous. If you haven't been there and are thinking about it, as Nike says, "Just Do it!"

This speakeasy exceeded expectations with both its outstanding food and drinks. The ambiance transported you to another era, creating a unique and immersive experience. The cocktail menu was a masterpiece, offering inventive and perfectly crafted drinks. The food was equally impressive.

To be honest, I did not know that this was a speakeasy until I saw it. We were wandering around Main Street trying to find it. Finally, we found the place. The place was so quaint and gave me the jazzy vibe. They had so many cool drinks. The drinks we had were all delicious. We also got some late night snacks as well. We ordered Vietnamese street ribs, meatballs, bacon wrapped dates, and crab and shrimp cakes. The Vietnamese street ribs were so tender and delicious. The meatballs were super yummy as well. I loved their meatball sauce. It had a bit spiciness to it but also umami. The bacon wrapped dates were okay. Crab and shrimp cakes were a bit wet for my tastes. Overall, love the foods and drinks there. I would come back to get their full entree.

We literally stumbled across this spot after hearing some rumors. We had no reservation. We had also, not been on the website. I was in town visiting family. I was not familiar with the area at all...HOWEVER, we were able to get a last minute reservation & the password, enjoy the drinks & whole experience. We were welcomed even with champagne for our impromptu reservation being delayed. Our service was absolutely on point, food & drinks amazing. I can't promise you guys you'd be able to luck out like we did. So, I'd definitely recommend calling ahead or go online to making a reservation. It was a fun experience! I'm a dork & will look at restaurant history on YouTube. It really seems the owner is passionate about what he's doing. That makes a world of difference. I had been in the service industry longer than I want to tell my age. IYKYK.

This was such a cool speakeasy! We started our evening at Alchemi for cocktails and an appetizer. When it was time for our reservation we were able to walk to the back exit to Johnny's outside back door. When we made our reservation, we were given a secret code to say when we arrived. The pasta was also very delicious and loved the Paloma! The flame in the lime was a cool touch!

I'm a total sucker for speakeasys so when I recently visited Michigan, I made it a point to find one. It was a cold snowy day and I was excited to fill my belly with some good old cocktails to make me warm. I texted their number to make a reservation and they responded pretty quickly. The day of my reservation, they texted me some directions and their password. I parked in a paid lot across the street and walked over. Do not walk to the front of Alchemi - proceed to the back alley to their delivery entrance. You will see a Ring doorbell with a sign that says "No Entry! Authorized personnel only!" You will ring the doorbell and someone will come greet you and you will have to provide them with the password. Once inside, they walked me through the storage area and into their speakeasy. It was dark and lowly lit, quiet, and a great place to sit back and enjoy some drinks. We ordered a few pours of whiskey, cocktails, absinthe, and a charcuterie board. Everything was divine, the service was spectacular, and we had a great night. It was my husband's birthday and they brought out a creme brulee for us. Their drinks are reasonably priced based on the location and ambiance as well.

Visiting from out of town and came to Johnnys for a good cocktail and dinner and was not disappointed. The "code" is a fun idea so make sure you make reservations so you are able to get in with the appropriate information definitely try the Rainforest cocktail and the lamb chops were fantastic. Would recommend to anyone. Thanks from Atlanta!

What an amazing experience!!! He knows how to make sure that every date is more than just ordinary. I'll admit that it doesn't take a lot to wow me but this place knocked my socks off! He kept this part of the night a surprise and I was so glad he did. We walked in and he gave a number to a man and then he walked us down some stairs and a hallway etc. There is a hidden door and when you enter, you are swept into a unique speakeasy! It was so amazing! I loved every part of this. We ordered lamb ragu as we are both huge fans of lamb and it's not something you can get just anywhere. This was perfection and enough to share. We got some gorgeous drinks as well. Presentation makes me so happy!I love pretty cocktails. They are on the pricey side but well worth it. You have to realize you are paying for the ambiance as well as the overall rendezvous. If you want to impress a date, this is the place to take them!

Wow I love this place! We ordered all of the appetizers and every one of them was amazing. My cocktail was so delightful as well. The service was the best service I've received in years, the server was so attentive and knowledgeable. Both the cocktails and appetizers came out so quickly too!

My husband and I are both unique cocktail enthusiasts and don't mind driving for a good toddy. I made the reservation and we are both so happy we did. We showed up a little early (didn't know about Friday night traffic parking etc) and had a pre date night toddy at Alchemi first. Absolutely great first round. Then through the kitchen and down the stairs we went. The whole Speakeasy history and having to have a password made it even better. We each had 2 different drinks and they were all amazing. My husband is a Bourbon Snob and enjoyed his smoked and then on the rocks Rye. I had a Gin aloe tonic and a wonderful lavender gin. Both perfectly balanced. The food choices were very well balanced, you could find whatever you liked. My husband had the Korean short ribs and I had the salad with fabulous heirloom tomatoes. We will be making repeat reservations. The whole atmosphere and experience was top notch

This is the definition of a hidden gem! Down an alley to a nondescript door, you ring the bell and share the password. Then, you are led down a flight of stairs and past a kitchen area to what looks like a meat locker door. Once it is opened, however you enter a world of culinary and beverage delights! The food and drinks are spectacular!

Had a great dinner here the other night! Cocktails were on point and the food was very good. We made a reservation and were texted the password the day of. The space is a little dark and moody. You hear customers walking around above you enjoying dinner/drinks in the restaurant above which adds to the speakeasy ambience. We will definitely be back with friends!

Delicious food and drinks! I was sad they got rid of the deviled eggs but the rest of their menu is pretty yummy. Its a small and loud place and a good time. Recommend for a girls dinner or date night.

It's so sad that covid ruined Johnny's. We went two days ago and it was apparent that they were understaffed. The waitress wasn't very friendly and she wasn't knowledgable about the menu either. Our drinks took an hour to arrive, we were rushed to order, and our food took about that long too. We did not like the food at all. I ordered the pad thai, which came with raw bean sprouts (can cause poisoning). I removed them thinking the dish would be good. I was mistaken. The loml ordered the salmon and wasn't a fan. The manager was apologetic and took care of us, but it was just such a terrible and draining experience. I love Johnny and I used to love Johnny's. I'll be back when/if they decide to bring the duck tacos back and probably hire more competent staff. However, another lady working as a waitress seemed great.

We got the secret code just minutes before our reservation tonight. The secret code via text was a fun word, ingénue. I thought it would be a number code or something, guess not. My science mind figured numbers for some reason for the code. It's not the red door, it's the black door with a ring doorbell on it. Green sign says no entry, for authorized personnel only! Someone will let you in, just tell them the door code. Down the stairs, a slight left and down the short hall to another gray door and then you have entered through the time machine. If you think you are in the wrong area, the you are in the right area. We are hopeful that the kitchen and Chef won't be the same as Mr. B's, upstairs. I'm not a great fan of Mr. B's Food. Trying to keep an open mind. Chef Johnny let us, he said the place used to be banquet center and before that 49 years ago was a gun shot range. Wow. I had no idea. Happy to report they have a separate kitchen and chef from upstairs. Jasmine is waiting on us, she's nice and attentive. Brought us a sample of their white sangria and shrimp cocktail. I got a mojito, it sounds good. Started with the devilish good eggs with prosciutto on two of the four and a charcuterie with only cheese, freshly made sour dough and crackers. Then split beyond impossible meatballs, small kitchen sink salad. You can hear the old creaky floors from above. Cool jazz music in the background. Sidney Bichet is playing sister Kate at the moment. The music is fitting for the setting here. The deviled eggs were tasty, simple but good. There are no crackers, just the sour dough toast points. There's strawberry, honey mustard and spicy peanuts. The cheeses are good, then again few cheeses are ever bad. I would like really crunchy crackers, the bread isn't doing it for me, not carb worthy. This place gives you the sense of the roaring 20s, during prohibition, it's effectively cool down here. Who would think being in the basement could displace you for an hour or two into another era even. It's quite busy in here, that's a good sign. The kitchen sink salad was good, a light dressing, a great mix of veggies and so much of it in a small bowl too. The impossible meatballs were big, lots of gravy, reminded me a bit of the Swedish meatballs, but not quite so. It's made with an onion gravy. The food and ambiance is very cool and makes you feel cozy in such a dark place with like minded folks. The bathrooms, two doors to the right and left of the picture of shushing man. It's a pleasant experience for sure and well worth a look see and taste too.

I'll list the good things first. Food: The food was OUTSTANDING. We ordered a couple small plates - the Gruyere Spread (amazing and a huge portion), Stuffed Meatballs (decadent. So outrageous), and the Mushroom Arancini (savory and delicious). Creme Brulee (possible the best I've ever had). Cocktails: Pretty good, if a little overpriced. I got the basil vodka drink with was VERY drinkable and yummy. The espresso martini was just ok. Not as balanced as I'd like - a little acidic from the espresso, but then artificially sweet tasting. Ambiance: Meh. I see what they're going for but it misses the mark. It was a lot of fun going into an unmarked door, seemingly through the back of a restaurant kitchen, but once you get into the venue itself, it just lacks any kind of character. I really think they would do well to lean into the 'speakeasy' vibe more. Service: Absolutely ATROCIOUS. We dined yesterday, Saturday Sept. 30th. My friend's birthday (which we were celebrating) was on Monday - which I told the host. Two other tables got a huge sparkler with their dessert... we got nothing. The waiter did not even wish my friend a happy birthday - though how could he when he never visited our table? It was as if his job was to merely transport the food from the kitchen to our table. He never checked in. He never asked how our food or cocktails were. Then, to top it off, at the end of the meal he just drops the electronic/iphone payment device on our table and walks away to bus a different table. And it was NOT intuitive... we had to figure out how to split the check and pay. It was truly absurd. I've never spent $200 on a meal to be treated like this. The waiter never circled back after our payment. We left the device on the table, and left the restaurant without a single word from a staff member. The doorman/host wished us well on our way out - that was about it. Truly the most bizarre service I've ever had. If the food wasn't so outstanding it would have been a really. miserable birthday celebration. Overall, I won't be back. Maybe I'll order takeout, that way I don't have to deal with the disaster service.

If you haven't been, go! That's almost all I need to say because the food, spirits, and vibes speak for themselves and dare I say the service is even better! We began the night with some nice cocktails (one of the best espresso martinis I've had) and continue on to get some starters and large plates. This wasn't my first time and definitely won't be my last! Cheers!

Went to this speakeasy for date night and it exceeded our expectations. The ambiance was excellent- dim lights, candles, Louie Armstrong music and an amazing bar. The lamb Ragu was the star of the evening- tender meat & homemade noodles. We also got the farmers salad which was good too but probably wouldn't order again.

Went to Johnny's for a second time and, while the drinks were good, I will never go back due to their business practices. Apparently, our server must've thought the tip I gave her (17%) wasn't good enough, even though her service was very slow, so she added herself some extra tip (25%). I've attached pictures of my receipt (I kept the copy and wrote down the tip I had included) and the charge on my credit card. Total should've been $37, but I was charged $39.80. I'm not going to dispute the charge with my bank for just $2.80 (not worth my time), but I did want to let everyone know about the shady practices at this place.

Absolutely impressed by Johnny's speakeasy. Some of the best service I've had at any establishment. Our server Christopher was so kind and attentive with perfect drink recommendations. The gentlemen at the door was also amazing, it was raining as we were leaving and he gave us an umbrella to take with us. Drinks were excellent and crème Brûlée was delicious. Would recommend this to place to everyone.

Absolutely fantastic. We really enjoyed our experience here. We went for drinks and dinner, while it was on the pricier side we couldn't be happier with our meals and drinks. We will definitely be returning to eat there again soon.

Really cool place! Some friends suggested we try it and we were planning to go for an after dinner drink. We saw someone knocking on the back door and were lucky enough to follow them in. We didn't have a reservation but they gave us cards to plan ahead for next time. I guess we were lucky to get in because it looks like you usually need to text and find out a code to get in! It was a fun experience. The place is hidden in the back of their kitchen I believe. The decor is interesting. The cocktails looked awesome. We got to start with a little sample of their sangria. The presentation looked great on other drinks. We saw some with jasmine balloons, some on fire, all kinds of fun stuff. We ended up getting nitro ice cream that was spiked. Even better than a night cap! Drinks and dessert in one! My husband and I split the good morning sunshine one with the coffee flavoring and our friends got the kahlua one. I will def be back for dinner! The owner or manager I believe was very personable and friendly.

This was my first visit and I fell in love with this place. We went there to celebrate our friends new job and was surprised by other friends on their pregnancy news. Our host was a lady who made our evening so special with dessert and candles. Loved all their cocktails and loved their Aracini and their cheese spread! Would definitely visit again sometime for another intimate celebrations! :)

5+ stars. We've been here multiple times and it's always a great experience! On New Year's Eve we had a reservation for 7 and were sat at the restaurant to wait. The manager sent over a bottle of champagne for the table at this time. We were unable to get down there before midnight so the manager paid for our entire bill which included drinks and deserts. He told me to mention this experience the next time I come. This just goes to show the amazing service and attention they will provide for their customers. See you soon! :-)

Very cool place, made our reservation via text, arrived at the designated place with our password to get in. It is very dark inside so be prepared to use your flashlight on your phone to read the menu. Had scouted out the menu online beforehand but was a little disappointed that the menu was a little different when we got there. A couple of the thing we had planned on ordering were not on this menu. Not a huge deal, but keeping the online menu current to avoid customer disappointment should be someone's job there. Our waiter was very good, explained all the drinks & food, was very attentive and made our dinner very enjoyable. Definitely a fun experience, worth a special night out. Just double check the menu if you had your heart set on something from what is showing on their website.

Absolutely love this place. Wasn't hard to find came here for my birthday and anniversary with my lady (13 yrs). We enjoyed everything Johnny's had to offer. We ordered the lamb ragu (Highly recommend). For drinks I had their old fashioned I like the way they presented it to me they brought it to me in a smokey bottle and poured it into a rocks glass for me it was strong and good. My fiancee actually had a few drinks (can't remember the names) I did sample and they were good as well. I recommend Johnny's. Staff is phenomenal their manager Craig (Awesome manager) food A1, decor beautiful, experience 10/10

The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is due to the amazing hostess. online it said open until 1am, knowing that many places close at 11pm, I decided To book.The last reservation was at 10pm so I booked that one. We came on time just to find out that the kitchen isn't serving ??? We were sat At the bar, which I didn't like because why would I need reservations than ????The bartender was only nice after the tip. I was very dissatisfied that I didn't try any of the food. Why four stars than ??? Well the host was amazing. I didn't catch her name and wish I would of, but she is the one who made Johnny's a great night. She was beyond friendly..... she also gotten us a tray of meats And cheese because she knew how bummed I was for not being able to order and food. Thank you we will be back for the menu, a table and your charm.

Located on the back side of Mr B's off busy Main Street, public pay parking. You get a number to text to make reservations. Part of the fun is the Mr B's staff pretending they don't know about Johnny's, but if you need help they will point out the door and ring doorbell for you. There are stairs to get to it, the main door is disguised. Inside is a trendy, dark, classy bar. Trendy drinks and classics, friendly polite staff. Trendy apps and fancy food. They have the smoker gear, and the round ice ball marker, and a highly skilled bar staff. We got to talk with the owner a little and the bartender a lot. When the new owner, a chef, bought Mr Bs he wanted fancy food but the customers resisted because Mr Bs has been there forever. Therefore he put in a classy bar downstairs with a separate identity and got to be fancy. This isn't cheap, and you wouldn't expect it to be, but it about 1/2 the price of a Jose Andres place for food and cocktails that about about 3/4 as good. They told us Friday and Saturday are very crowded and reservations are needed, and Sunday they have a jazz group and it is crowded then, a rarity for Detroit area places

This was a very different experience from any other place. The door for this place is hidden and we were just walking up and down until someone showed us where it was. At the door you will find a ring bell at which point they will text you a password once you ring it. Absolutely so amazing and fun!! When you go in, you will go through the basement and through a cooler door. Then you see the place which is very romantic and private. The lighting is super low which fits this place's vibe. Our waiter was very social, nice & funny. However, I ordered a Dirty Martini Up which came with no olives!! So disappointed, this drink is known for the olives and they didn't even have them. Another thing I didn't like is that the waiter would just come, socialize, and leave quickly. I barely had the opportunity to ask him for a menu. At the end because of this he messed up our bill and didn't even hear what I said. We wanted it split based on what everyone got so I put all of the cards in order of the bill. But he didn't wait for me to tell him what to do, he got the cards and split everything in half. Some of us ended up paying way more than what we ordered and some less. Very inconvenient. I think it is common sense to split it based on what everyone got. I will return here in the future but probably for a romantic date, not for a night out with friends. I really want to come back and try their food.

There are times you read about some of the attention seeking behavior that restaurants go through to get people in and then you take a bite of their food and you know that it is all fluff and no substance. The food comes out flavorless, there is no attention to detail, the service mediocre at best and when you get the bill you wonder what the hell you just spent $300 on. I am happy to say this is not one of those situations. I'm not going to lie, when I first heard you have to text a phone number to make a reservation and then on the day of your meal they will send you a secret code word and then you go to a secret door, my eyes rolled so hard and so fast it looked like I was doing a Marty Feldman impression. There is no way anything can be worth all this hassle, right???? WRONG!!! It was worth every bit of it and in fact only added to the experience further. I think I'm going to write this review in sequential order to capture a moment by moment experience. I'm not going to give away the location of the door because I think enjoying the full process of discovering it is part of the fun. Once you give the secret word (for you Always Sunny fans, it's not, I repeat it's not OOOOOORRRRRGGGGGYYYY) you going down stairs, through the basement kitchen/storage area and through a disguised entrance that leads into the restaurant. Once again I'm not going to give away too many details on the entry process to keep the mystique alive even if it is temporary. Upon entering the restaurant, you're immediately greeted by (a photo) of Miles Davis and it's the perfect first impression for the secret, jazzy feel to the place. A combination of edison bulbs and candles keep the the rooms softly lit but still dark, guests at distant tables were nothing more than moving shadows, at closer tables ghostly visages laughing and drinking and eating. Aesthetically, it is an absolute feast for the eyes. Dark woods, classic furniture, stone walls left exposed add to the mysterious feel. We decided to sit at the high top so we could have better view of the restaurant and the bar area. The drinks we ordered were nothing short of spectacular. They looked beautiful, tasted amazing, and actually had enough alcohol in it so you could feel it. Watching the bartender make our drinks was a great show. We decided to order a bunch of dishes and share them among us, like a family style dinner. We started with the Lump Crab Napolean. I find working with seafood is always a tricky experience, especially lobster, crab, scallops etc. I like a little char to it because texture is big thing in my world in dealing with food. Although the lobster was charred by any means, the combination of the avocado, lobster, and the vinaigrette gave the dish a great texture and flavor. Next on the list was the Lobster Mac and coming from a person who does not especially like mac of any kind, this was delicious. It was creamy, and the bisque sauce took the flavors to all different levels. It was so well balanced between creamy and dense that it perfectly satisfying on many levels. I couldn't imagine that being topped and then the peanut encrusted lamb chops with miso sake souffle just came in yelled "G5!" and the Lobster Mac responded with a sad, "you sunk my battleship." This was my favorite dish of the night without question. Perfectly cooked and the peanut crust was a combination I would never have thought would be good together but damn, brilliant! The real joy though was the souffle. I'm not sure what miso sake is, I don't know if I will ever run into it again, but wow. Just wow. So light, fluffy and yummy! It was like a little dessert to cleanse the palate before the next dish. The encrusted beef medallion was next and I honestly wish we had ordered this before the lamb. I know this was delicious but following the lamb, this had no chance and this is an absolutely a travesty because it is such a good dish. I'm telling you, you won't be disappointed if you order this. Finally for dessert, we had the blueberry creme brulee. Now I'm going to be frank with you, I might not be a connoisseur of many things in life, but creme brulee's is something I could probably get a doctorate in. This one was so well made and the blueberries was such a nice touch. From the minute my spoon cracked that perfectly caramelized shell to every heavenly bite, I was actually angry I was forced to share this with someone else. I will have to sneak back here and have it again all to myself... bwhaahahahhahahahahhaa (evil laughter and twirling of mustache ensues at this point of the story). I can't recommend this experience enough and I can only hope they change their menu regularly so I can have an entirely new experience.

Reservation was at 9. Seated at 10. Drinks sucked. Went to three speakeasy's testing out drinks and Johnnys by far the most dog shit place. Garbage. By the way they keep deleting my reviews like cockroaches

I plan dates for people for a living & that was my first introduction to Johnny's. I decided to go here for my birthday and they were able to get me and my friends in with no problem. This is a place if you value experience, without a doubt. I'm such a big fan. The drinks and food were superb. You have to enter through the back alley and with a pre-requested password. You walk in and the vibe is straight 1920s speakeasy. Johnny walked around the floor the night I was there and i'm sure he continues this regularly. I can not speak highly enough about this place. I will continue to bring my clients here, and come myself. Keep up the fantastic work everybody! They treated us so well on my sepecial day, bringing out a complimentary desert with a sparkler in it and I am super appreciative. Pro Tips: -It's located underneath Mr. B's Pub in Royal Oak -You need to text the reservation number to request a password -It's dark in there and they play music that pairs perfectly with the speakeasy vibe.

Blew me away, we will definitely be back. Cocktails: Passion all the thyme, Johnny Appleseed, Aviation, and Holland Fog Food: Lobster Pap and Cheese & Vietnamese Street Ribs (an appetizer I know but I forgot the lactaid at home and the menu looked heavy on the dairy) I only ordered an appetizer as I forgot my medicine that allows me to have dairy, big mistake I'll bring it next time so I can fully experience everything I want to. But even so everything we had was amazing. Our waiter was super sweet and attentive and Johnny even came around to check on us!

This place is simply amazing. A cozy spot for dinner in a romantic atmosphere with very friendly people. All the food was great and drinks are as well. Definitely recommend the ny strip!

Everything was amazing from start to finish. I'm usually not a big rib fan, but the Vietnamese street ribs were delicious! The flavor, tenderness and fall off the bone quality was amazing. The arancini had a great crisp outside and flavorful sauce with it. I got the farmers salad and was so pleased with it! It was a unique experience that stands out from other restaurants

We had reservations at 7 pm. Like other ppl we were excited to use the password and have this unique experience. Unfortunately this wasn't it...... My husband used to be a waiter so we are empathetic to servers, but this was just bad all the way around. It was our friend's wedding anniversary so we were ready to have a good time. First they sat us at a Couch with an ottoman and coffee table‍....no words. We ordered drinks they took about 25 min to come out, our server never checked on us during that time. I have to say our drinks were really good. About 10 - 15 min after dropping off drinks she took our appetizer and dinner order. The appetizers weren't bad, but server spilled water and some got on my husband's hat, maybe because the table was so low. Anyway, our food finally came out cold and seasonless. I order the Lobster "Pap" and Cheese. I was expecting cheesy with a great lobster/seafood flavor. Nope. Just bland. My friend and I sent ours back the be heated. Mine came back warm but they only heated my friends lamb chops not the rest of meal, her sides were still cold. My husband got a steak medium, it was overcooked, he was so hungry he just ate it. He also ordered a drink to have with dinner that never came. My friend sent her meal back for a 2nd time so they comped it for her. We got a free crème brûlée because we were there for a celebration. I'm the only one who like it. The food here cost too much to taste bad. Needless to say we will not be back.

Billy, Steve, and I left an event to find food. We walked down the ally and in my great state a light bulb went off in my head!! The speakeasy that I've heard about. There was a gentleman who looked to be working at Mr B's and I asked where the door for Johnnys was at. We found it. I pushed the ring, twice. Andrew came to the door. He said hello, do you have a reservation? I was like no but I'd like to have one. He handed me a card to text. He told us to wait inside Mr B's to stay warm. I texted the number and got an immediate reply. We walked back, pushed the button and out pops Andrew. I said I have the password to get in. Kinda love the allure of the secret-ness of this place. Andrew was our server. We ordered drinks. We ordered appetizers. Each appetizer was $16/each. I'm sorry no pictures. We did ribs that were not that great but we also got filet tenderloins that were actually a great cut of beef. It was soft, fall apart in your mouth. They were good. We talked about this place last night and are planning our return trip. We want to have dinner, drinks, desert on a Sunday afternoon. So much fun.

Came to Detroit to visit family the day after Thanksgiving and of course, I had to do my due-diligence and find a stellar speakeasy somewhere in the city. Well, we can safely say that Johnny's DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Located in a back alley off of Main, Johnny's is inconspicuous and charming with an authentic atmosphere. The drinks were delicious and the staff was very hospitable! We ordered the Smokey Old Fashioned, Rum Old Fashioned, and a GlenMo on the rocks. I really appreciate the fact that they managed to find us 3 seats at the bar without a reservation (since we're from out of town, we didn't exactly know how the reservation/ password situation worked) - thanks for a great experience, Johnny's!
