Very good price. Very authentic Cantonese food. Don’t expect much service. It might be lunch specials reason, some dishes look kinda too simple. Maybe I should try something else other than the lunch specials menu.

The best dish at this restaurant is the SQUAB. It’s really juicy and sweet. I always stop by this restaurant every time i come to Cali from Philly. The sweet and sour pork is always really yummy. The other dishes are either a hit or a miss. The dishes are very large. Some days the servers are nicer than other days. It’s definitely more of a family restaurant for the locals.

Good portions and quality Chinese food restaurant. Reservation is needed otherwise you have to wait a bit of time. Prices are good in my opinion. Unfortunately, sometimes service is not that great when it hits peak dinner time. Recommend Pork Chops with Spicy Salt, Sweet Corn & Fish Maw Soup, Stewed Beef Tendon Hot Pot. Will be back for the 冬瓜盅 (Winter Melon Soup) because everyone order one during their visit.

If you are looking to dine at a fancy restaurant then this is not for you but if you are looking to dine at a traditional Cantonese cuisine then you hit the jackpot! All the waiters here are friendly.. food is downright delicious.. didn’t taste much of msg because we were not thrust afterward… pork belly with mustard green & Kung pao with 3 ingredients are my favorite.. wife loves the fish with tofu… black pepper beef with onions is solid.. the deep fried squids with pepper salt is a little too bland .. and the Mellon soup that comes with lunch is very good.. I think the Mellon is from their garden.. see video snd their steam eggs are very smooth..

Went there last night with my friends. The line was long, we were waiting almost an hour for dinner. The portion was big and the food was ok not bad. The environment was ok too. Be careful if you sit on the table close to the cashier. The waiters like to kick on the chair accidentally and they don’t say anything. My chair been kick couple times and we have to switch position. Then we order food, I remember I order the right food which was item 248 and pointed the guy the picture. After a long wait finally the item 248 came and it was the same thing. We told the manager we believe that we order 248 and he said the waiter didn’t tell you guys we don’t have that vegetable? We said no, he didn’t say anything. Then the waiter who ordered our food he is bald with glasses came and get upset and loud out his voice to us. Seriously??? All of us know what we ordered! He came and said we ordered wrong items? That’s ridiculous. We don’t think we will go again.

Busy place for dinner, no reservations for 4 people and under, but totally worth the wait. We were a party of 4 walk-ins, got there a little after 630pm, and were seated within half an hour. We had enough time while waiting to look at the menus and the specials on the wall, so we ordered as soon as we were seated. Food arrived pretty quickly, and everything was very tasty and happy portions. Dinner comes with a sweet soupy dessert, which was also very delicious. Great service from our server, who was very friendly despite the place being so busy, got us what we requested (pot of hot water, dish of chili soy sauce, number if containers for leftovers, sauces, even bones for the dog), promptly. New favorite place. Will definitely return with friends.

Google
It's not the prettiest decor, but service is polite and the food is consistently good. We typically get take out. The lunch specials are big and tasty, a great value with less price inflation than other places have seen. Love their braised tofu the most!

Google
A little gem in El Monte. Good service and generous food portions. Price is less expensive than many of the seafood restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley. A few of the dishes were a bit salty in my opinion. Overall, it was a great experience for a big party of 18. Was able to get seated upon arrival. Plenty of parking in the plaza.

Yelp
Say what you want about Mr. Chopsticks (filthy, bad service, etc) but you cannot deny that the place is always packed from open to close because their Lunch Specials are the best around town. I've been coming here since I was a kid and their food is consistently good. I personally had EXCELLENT service at my most recent visit and I left completely full and happy. The place is not in the best condition and I do suggest minor remodeling may boost their business more, but just because they old school wouldn't stop me from giving them my business. Thumbs up! 4/5!

Yelp
Came for a last minute Sunday dinner around 6pm, the place is packed! Many tables reserved for bigger groups and if you're a party of more than 5 (6 if you're ok with a small table) it may be a long wait. They were pretty busy, you can tell given how quick they were at setting tables up, cleaning up, serving dishes, and taking orders. Since this is one of our childhood places we already knew not to take out time to order and make sure we know what we want before the staff come by. We ordered our usual dishes: -fried whole sole fish: this time it was super crispy and light, I always think there isn't enough sauce since it's so good. -beef chow fun: this time they made it really well! Surprisingly flavorful and the beef isn't as chewy as it is before. The noodles were also very well stir fried with sauce distributed well. -fried tofu and mushrooms(?): I'm not sure the name on the menu but my parents saw another table order this and asked for it instead of our usual eggplant dish and it was delicious. Deep fried soft tofu and mushrooms,l were super flavorful, I enjoyed it a lot and glad we got it to try. -crispy orange beef: we usually get this dish as well, the crispy and sweet fried beef slices is super indulgent, not spicy at all and has a nice crunch. -spicy salt pork chops: it is always the last dish to arrive, we sort of ate everything and contemplated whether we should cancel if they didn't start cooking it. But by the time we decided the dish came. I really like their pork chops, in the past it didn't taste as fresh and had an oily aftertaste, but we enjoyed it this time. Crispy, salty, not spicy unless you get some sliced peppers in. After every dinner is free red bean soup, super sweet watery soup with some red beans stewed. A favorite childhood desert but also super sweet and I didn't eat more than a sip and gave mine to my parents. Overall, a great dinner for a last minute Sunday decision! Will come back again but if we have a group bigger than 5, we'll make reservations to not contest the wait time.

Yelp
This entire place is so filthy! The restroom floors are slippery. Parking is pretty sparse during prime time. Wait service is terrible. Overworked people who just had a bunch of attitude with serving us. We had booked 3 tables with VIPs at the other two tables. Our table got the scraps (legs, bits and pieces) of the lobster as the table with the VIP guests got the actual lobster tail. I don't mind if the other tables got a few more better pieces of lobster but to get literal scraps? We are only forced to come here because of my grandmother's preference but I would not come here on my own.
google avatar

Yelp
We are a family of 5 that came on 6pm on Sunday. We got the last table because all the other table were reserved. If you have a large party make sure you call ahead and reserve your table! My favorite from here is always the walnut shrimp and salt and pepper pork chops.

Yelp
I used to come here while I was in middle school with my family, and recently came back as a 4th year college student! The interior still looks a bit run down, but the food (as backed by my family AND the 30+ person group party I went with recently) is REALLY GOOD for the price point and quantity!! Great place to take asian parents or grandparents, it tends to get packed so expect a wait. This place is definitely a SGV hidden gem!

Yelp
What a nice find thanks to Eater LA. Tucked away in a strip across the street from Sam's club, this is a little gem of a restaurant. Food is fresh with snappy vegetables and good portions. We had the green beans and by far, one of the best I've had. The fish maw and crab soup was excellent. All our dishes were great. Ambiance is okay but not overly fancy. They have a garden in the back where they grow a lot of their veggies and windows to view. Service is my only complaint. I asked for separate bowls for rice and the waiter explained I should be using my used soup bowl. I just went to another waiter and he provided them. They'd be stellar if they can improve their attentiveness and customer service. I'll be back.
google avatar

Winnie T.

Yelp
This restaurant is SEVERLY understaffed!! When I say severely, I mean it is one of the worst service that I ever experienced in Asian restaurant. That alone deducts at least 1 star from it. Food is alright. But price is very reasonable. So nothing to complain about the quality of the material. It's canton style. But not TOO HK style though. Roast pigeon is good and tasty. But on the small size. But it's still up to the standard in Henry through. Restaurant is crowded and small. Don't expect a lot of room. It's the kind that is good to eat for a whole family. But NOT to eat with friends.

Yelp
My godmother was craving egg drop soup and they sent me to this restaurant as it was local to their house. The restaurant is located in a very small plaza with Chase Bank, pet grooming and a couple smaller restaurants. The parking is very small/limited so keep in mind the time you go here. I placed an order for lunch so didn't think it would take too long to pick up and was told it would be ready in 20min. But still waited another additional 20min after getting to the restaurant as the food was not ready. The restaurant wasn't too big but definitely was busy as a sit down restaurant. Ordered black bean fish and chicken fried rice with the soup. I enjoyed the black bean fish as it was on point for traditional Chinese dish definitely can't complain on the food. Just be prepared to either wait if you ordered over the phone and gauge your timing as it maybe a bit before you find parking.

Yelp
Came here because we were in the area and my parents love this restaurant. We got orange chicken, golden egg shrimp, maopudaofu, and sole fish. -The shrimp didn't really have a salty egg yolk flavor -orange chicken tasted a little flat but really good as leftovers -fried sole fish bones were yummy
google avatar

Yelp
Items in photo: Kung Pao Shrimp, House Chicken, Pork Chop with Peking Sauce, Pork Belly, Tofu with Brocolli and Mushroom, Rice Vermicelli Singapore Style, Beef Stew, Seafood Crispy Noodle First time trying this spot personally but my parents eat here quite often. The portion size is insane here for lunch special items! Food was good and was seasoned well. Pricing is great for the portion. If you're looking for a family style lunch or early dinner, I'd definitely check this place out. The Pork Chop with Peking Sauce is definitely my favorite. The crispy noodles were also very tasty!!
google avatar

Casey C.

Yelp
Huge portions, tasty & very well priced! Space is a bit tight there and service is pretty fast, but great place if you're craving authentic Chinese food. Come with a big appetite!
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
It's pretty decent Chinese food and the fish pieces were bigger than most other Chinese restaurants and service was good and fast some pictures were from the previous visit and some new ones
google avatar

Kingsley N.

Yelp
Cantonese style food and melon soup served in the actual melon gourd. Wait took some time on a Saturday evening with party of 14 reservation. Staff was lacking for a full restaurant. Place was not the cleanest. Food was oily but expected. Taste was good. Melon soup wasn't best based on others I've had (ingredients didn't seem cooked into soup). Would go back but only without wait.

Yelp
Living in the area, it took us years to find this place. It's tucked into the corner of a small plaza with limited parking. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. All you see is crowds of people waiting around, especially on the weekends. Inside is a bit bigger than initially thought. There are several tables for larger parties and plenty of 4 seaters. During meal times, they get busy. I've been here several times, and the food has always been constantly good. On top of the flavors, the portions are big and the prices are low, so that makes a winning recipe for a successful restaurant. Things we tried: Singapore fried vermicelli. Huge plate, fragrant, great curry taste with a little bit of heat. Eggplant, and chicken in garlic sauce (these are 2 different dishes in the same sauce) Bold flavors that go well with white rice. Sautéed string beans are fresh, crisp and served with a bit of garlic. There are other dishes we tried, and they were all pretty good. Mr. Chopsticks is a great place to get big portions of tasty Chinese food, and you'll sure to have leftovers for the next day, so you won't have to cook.
google avatar

Vivian C.

Yelp
Quality is so good here and everyone knows it which is why it's always packed in there! Food is always plentiful and fresh the leftovers is as good as it was sitting right then and there. My family enjoys the lobster the most while I really enjoy the squall the most. Can be pretty pricey here but you get what you pay for. Yum!
google avatar

Albert C.

Yelp
The food quality is phenomenal here! I recommend getting the iconic "Deep Fried Whole Fish". It's a MUST for sure because every time I go here, this is what my family and I get and honestly, it is so worth it. Other things I tried are Beef Chow Fun, Sauteed Sole Fillet, Green Beans, Kung Pao Chicken, Clam w/ Black Bean Sauce, and Peking Pork Chops. And let me tell you, none of the dishes disappointed. Each plate was packed with its own special flavor & it was different from one another. Let me also mention that the portions were huge as well. Take a look for yourself cause they weren't about that stingy life. SERVICE: 3/5 stars. Throughout our order, it took a while for everything to come out. Not the best service; however, lowkey the food and portions made up for it. They would give us one thing we ordered every 10-15 minutes. AMBIANCE: A comfortable environment, traditional vibes, felt the vibes, waiting around 10 minutes to get seated. As I got seated, more people were getting seated and they were getting busy.

Yelp
Large portions and bomb food... the community definitely sleeping on this one. Don't mind that it's stuck in the 90s.

Yelp
This was a pretty solid classic Chinese restaurant in El Monte. I came on a Tuesday for dinnertime and it was pretty crowded but no wait. Service was mediocre but that's nothing new at these type of restaurants. Food was good and I got these. Hot and Sour soup - I really enjoyed this one especially for an appetizer. They certainly don't lack content with a lot of veggies and meat in here. Also was pretty flavorful and delicious. (4.5/5) Orange Peel Chicken - Man they don't skimp on portions because this one was HUGE. It's made fresh and super crispy. Sweet and crispy. It's delicious but heavy. (4/5) Beef Chow Fun - This was just okay. At least this time it was a bit on the soft side so I don't know if the noodles weren't as fresh or overcooked. Beef and overall flavor was good. (3/5) String Beans - They killed it on this. It had the perfect bite on every string and was seasoned well. (5/5) Honey Walnut Shrimp - Another great dish with fresh seafood. Sauce was good, pecans were solid and shrimp was fried well. Perfection! (5/5) Overall this is a solid spot for Chinese food. Prices were reasonable and portions were huge. Tea was free but you have to buy white rice by the cup. Our total came out to be $88.8, lucky number!, for 5 people with tons of leftover. I'd be back, it's good!
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
Hole in the wall spot that has solid food at insane prices. It's like they haven't been affected by everyone's inflation greed. You can still get $13.25 lunch special items like scrambled egg shrimp or whole fried sole! AND it comes with an entire container of rice and a 4 serving bowl of soup. I feel like most places stopped doing this since like the 2000s for these prices. Did I mention that they also grow their own vegetables?! You're getting great value and quantity at pretty fair quality. Sometimes the quality isn't the greatest but it's so cheap that it's totally worthwhile. My last visit the quality was totally amazing too so it's better than "you get what you pay for" totally a blast from the past. I will say that the carpet is older than me and if you need to go to the restroom... Maybe don't.
google avatar

Albert L.

Yelp
Special lunch here serves traditional Cantonese dishes for 7/10 flavor, but 10/10 portion sizes and 10/10 prices. Prices start at $11.25-$13.95 and you'll have leftovers for 2 lunches.
google avatar

Yelp

Yelp
For some reason I was craving deep-fried sole tonight, so I remember this place that was near Sam's Club in El Monte. My boyfriend wanted the walnut shrimp, which was delicious (not too sweet), Yang Chow fried rice, and the sauté green beans. They added onions to sauté green beans which we thought was weird at first but turned out delicious. The deep fried squid needed a little bit more seasoning and may be a little bit longer with the frying but it was also good. The fried sole that I was craving at the spot. The portions were huge and we were able to place the order before going to Sam's Club and picked it up within 20 minutes of the phone call. We will definitely be back to try more items on their menu.
google avatar

Francine L.

Yelp
I don't tend to come to El Monte that often but recently I came here for a friend's dad's birthday and it was one of the most memorable and funniest I have been to in recent years. This place looks like a zoo with so many people trying to get tables for dinner. I felt like I went back in time with how the simple seating is. But that is all good because the food says it all for them. It is amazing and if you love traditional Cantonese style food you will enjoy it here. All the dishes are large family-style portions. You have a large circle spinner so everyone can get food. My favorite dishes are their melon soup, tofu mushroom with veggies, and lobster noodles. Simple and easy dishes but all tasted great! We had a ton of fun and I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

M N.

Yelp
Great Chinese food. Prepared Hong Kong style ...ight and delicate cooking. The vegetables are cooked to perfection. Food is not heavy with oily taste, even for the deep fried dishes. Parking in the lot tight so may need to park on the street. Ambiance is fine and the tables are spread apart. Service is fine. The dishes I enjoy eating there are west lake soup , honey walnut shrimp, shrimp with spicy salt, mixed variety mushrooms & diced beef in house special sauce, fish fillet with tender greens , sautéed sole with crispy bone, pork chop with spicy salt, pork chop with Peking sauce, deep fried tofu, string beans with minced pork, Chinese broccoli with minced fish. I want to go back and try more dishes!
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
Great place for large groups. They were able to accommodate group of 15 people. They didn't mess up or miss any of the dishes ordered. All the dishes tasted good and nothing was bad. From the beef soup west lake's style, chicken &salted fish fried rice, beef chow fun, chow mein, salt and pepper pork chop, braised tofu, green beans, honey walnut shrimp and some dishes that I'm forgetting. No complaints for the food. Service was spotty after getting all the food. Parking lot but during peak times it gets full fast.

Yao Sheng H.

Yelp
Great value chinese food, especially the bitter melon beef and the kung-pao chicken. In addition, Lunchtime also comes with a large bowl of soup and rice.
google avatar

Yelp
I've always wanted to try this restaurant cuz I keep seeing it driving by so many years. Finally tried it for my mom's birthday. The service was decent. The food was delicious. However for some reason their meat dishes seemed to not have as much quality. The spicy pork chops was mostly batter and not too much meat. The batter was delicious tho so the flavoring of the dishes were great. Other dishes that had lamb or beef all seem to have pieces that are really hard to chew. But the non-meat dishes such as fried fish and different veggies were delish. The restaurant is very busy and the parking lot is not very big, so it may become difficult to find parking.
google avatar

Darren L.

Yelp
We went during off hours at around 3:00pm, when the staff was eating their meals. They had us wait until staff was available to clean the tables and serve us. 1/5. After we were seated, the service was good, and our food came out pretty fast. 4/5 Food 1. Ginger scallion clams: seasoned perfectly with plentiful amount of clams 4/5 2. Chinese Brocolli with oyster sauce: Oyster sauce never disappoints a flavor bomb. Brocolli served whole and was quite large. 3.5/5 3. Deep fried Squab: the start of the meal. The Squab was exquisite. Reminded me of traditional Chinese banquets serving squab with 5 spice salt. 5/5 Over experience was a 3/5 due to the wait. The food was very good, though.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service. Go with a large group or family to get lots of choices.
google avatar

Masis Y.

Yelp
Food ***** The amazing sizes and great taste and smell. Service*** It was ok , it's not one of those fancy places you pay for great food not service or decoration Ambiance *** It feels like a church banquet hall. Absolutely minimal on fancy-ness . Feels like road restaurants in somewhere in China. But somehow the great smell of food overcast anything . Parking ** It is inside a shopping center so they share a lot of parking with other stores and that makes them less roomy . Coming here is for a great Chinese food experience for low cost . Price***** For a lot of food and good quality food LUNCH SPECIAL is a bargain. Very affordable.

Yelp
My family and I came for lunch. Our lunch of beef brisket with tendons and turnip (could've been tastier), clams with black bean sauce (adding red peppers would perk up the color), fish (tender) and vegetables, and chicken came with complimentary rice, tea and winter melon (dong gua) house soup. One can see the garden where the dong gua is grown. Bill with tax came to $60. Such a deal! Service was good, once we were able to flag a server down. Servers were constantly moving and busy. Parking on the lot. We'll be back for the squab and chow fun that are popular. Portions for the dishes were big and prices were inexpensive which means we'll be back!!
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
I called to reserve a table and to order a winter melon soup. Winter melon soup must be ordered in advance. Can't order at the table. I got to my table and they said there was no order of the soup. We went back and forth about it, and at the end, the blamed me for not ordering it. Horrible service. Food is average
google avatar

Chrystina S.

Yelp
The Chinese food here is so good. I've dined in once and ordered take out so many times. I feel I have to write a review to help them boost their business. They have good quality food. My go to orders are honey garlic pork chop, beef chow fun, saute fliet mignon house special lobster, fried whole sole filet and deep fried squab. The service is average but that's the norm in SGV. The food is comparable to Boston Lobster and Henry's Cuisine. Ambiance is meh, it can use a remodel. Plenty of parking in the lot

Byron C.

Yelp
Mr. Chopsticks has been my family's favorite sit down Cantonese dinner restaurant for years. Our favorite standout dishes are the french style beef, fried pork chops, winter melon soup, and deep fried sole. But they do all the classics really well too like Peking duck, honey walnut shrimp, lobster, tofu, etc. It does get busy and the parking lot is small so we usually come early before the dinner crowd gets here.
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
I have been coming here for family dinners and had a great experience. But with my most recent visit for the holiday, it was the complete opposite. Everything was disorganized, and managers weren't taking charge. Came here for the Lunar New Year celebration, and it was chaotic. My family made a reservation ahead of time to ensure a table. Upon arriving on time, we weren't given a table, and had to wait an additional hour. On top of that, there were a bunch of other parties waiting at the same time, and no one from the staff knew what was going on. We waited outside, and I'm positive someone who came way later got seated before us, which is ridiculous because we waited for so long already. Then it felt like everyone was fighting for a table and trying to get seated. After getting seated, it took employees a very long time to set up the table and bring plates, cups, and chopsticks (we were given one-time use chopsticks). We placed our order ahead of time, and food came out quickly. But the portion size wasn't up to par with what they had previously served. I definitely won't recommend coming here if you're looking to come on a holiday because it is way too packed.

Yelp
I thought I do an updated review since the last time a little over a year ago. I was here yesterday for lunch in celebration of my 3rd Uncle's birthday. He's visiting from France. One of my aunts coordinated the lunch. Thank you Auntie! We had two tables and a total of nine of the same dishes per table. When we arrived, there was one table ready and the other table was not ready meaning the cloth wasn't placed and there weren't any place settings whatsoever except for the table and turntable LOL. You would think if we reserved the tables ahead of time that both tables would be set accordingly. Anyway, we get a tasty wintermelon or some kind of squash soup with our lunch. Out of the 9 dishes, the ones that stood out as most flavorful and tasty are... 1. Good size crispy salt and pepper shrimp 2. Lightly oiled with good wok flavor beef chow fun 3. Slightly spicy and yummy kung pao 3 delight with shrimp, chicken, and beef 4. Thick sliced and delicious fish filet with black bean sauce 5. Really moist and tender pork belly dish (I don't see this dish on lunch menu unless I missed it) As for the other dishes... 1. String beans with minced pork (very crispy string beans and good portions, but lacked wok flavor) 2. Beef stew with turnip (didn't eat the beef, but turnips were really tender) 3. Peking style pork chop (didn't try, but huge portions) 4. Ginger scallion clams (ate one, it lacked flavor) Staff was friendly, but timeliness of the service was slow and they weren't even that busy. Prices are reasonable in nowadays lunch prices. Thank you Mr. Chopsticks Seafood! Funny, both times we've eaten here have been lunch invitation from family and friends. We've never come here to eat on our own at least not yet. Not sure if that's ever going to happen though LOL. We prefer the restaurants in San Gabriel, Monterey Park, Rosemead, and Alhambra. Anyway, Happy Eating Wherever You Go!

Yelp
Pretty good lunch specials. Came with rice and big portion. Ordered several dishes to go. Overall, food was too bland for me but it was fresh and clean.

Yelp
The place is usually jam packed so if you do not like crowds then order take out. Or wait about an hour. Ambiance is whatever. not superb but fine. My party was missing some chopsticks, but they very quickly gave some when asked. The hot water refill time is good. The menu is extensive, 299 items last I checked. Everything I have had from here is good. The wintermelon soup requires you to call the day before. it is probably their most unique item. Food quantity is on the upper end. It is nice to see a place that does not skimp on portions.

Yelp
this reminds me a lot of Tasty Garden that was closed down on Valley. great quality (and quantity) for the price, courteous. we order 8 dishes for 7 people and took 6 boxes of leftover home. tips: make sure you make a reservation for dinner. the place isn't big but very popular. our reservation was at 6 and it is already packed at 6:30 with a queue outside. don't forget to check out chef's specials written on the board!

Yelp
0 stars of I could!!!! Horrible place! Do not come! Incredibly poor and rude service, one dish was like warm and bland. Stuffy AF in here. Menu isn't fully stocked so things we wanted, was not available. Don't waste your hard earn money and time here. We came to try this establishment out for the first time and it was pulling teeth trying to get anything! We had to wave them down to take our order. They took forever that we ended up writing it down in a piece of paper. I had to ask for water 4 times! I got so upset I ended up walking up to the waiter to complain it's hot in here with no ac on and we've been asking for water for the last 30 minutes. ALL the servers are rude and act like your request is a hassle and they WILL forget about you. One dish came out lukewarm and was incredibly bland that we had to send it back (we've never had to do this at any Chinese restaurant). They just quickly added more sauce, mixed it, and didn't bother putting it back on the woke for us. IT CAME BACK LUKEWARM AFTER WE NOTIFIED THEM! We didn't even eat it at all. When we told him it was lukewarm he said "that's impossible" and said they cooked it. I asked for him to try feeling for temperature with his fingers and he just walked away. It was packed but this place is good if you have a huge family and want to feed them large portions of bland food just to get something in their belly. My family and I all agreed unanimously that we won't be coming back even with the decent portions. We should have never stray away from Happy Together in Holiday Inn off Baldwin Ave. Not as big portions but they get the dishes right and has the "wok hay" (wok fire). And they give 10% off on weekdays. Much nicer service and environment. This place is a complete embarrassment to Chinese food.

Yelp
3.5 overall service plus food and ambiance. 3 stars for service. It is a bit lacking because they don't really have that many staff that serves and take orders. I am not sure how ordering would work if you want to order in English either. All the specials are written in chinese on the neon black board. This place has good food with great prices but the consistency is missing. And price for the winter melon soup which they are known for differs from our last visit. This time was $60. The receipt is written by hand. We ordered the green bean with minced pork but it came with no pork then when we asked the waiter, he said they usually don't serve with pork. But the menu says with pork? We asked him to get the kitchen to add pork back to it. At first he refused to do it and only after we repeatedly asking several times then he took the dish back to the kitchen. If you are only rating the quality of the food then they definitely get a 4stars. The baby quail, lamp chop and winter melon soup were really good. While we were eating, a large group of customers came and complained that they made a reservation for 7:00 and the waiter didn't keep the table for them. They were really upset and had a big argument. I guess you can't expect this restaurant to hold a table for you even with reservation. Come early and reserve for early dinner is the key. I made a reservation for 6pm and the restaurant was already 1/3 full when we got there.

Yelp
Everytime I've been had great food, really tasted like authentic Chinese food. The service was great, waiters checked up on us, regular re-fills, don't have anything to complain about! I'm not a regular yelper so I don't know much this will help, but I personally loved the restaurant!

Yelp
Came here for their Lunch Special which is quite good for portion to price value and would absolutely recommend! A hole in the wall local family type of place! You can even say they are organic as they have a veggie garden growing right outside (winter melon for the daily soup on the house) Most of the staff speak Chinese and your have to be accustomed to the Chinese Restaurant Hospitality as it's the opposite of Chinese Home Hospitality. With so many old school restaurants closed due to pandemic, it's super nice to have something like this as an option rather than cooking at home.

Yelp
Let me preface this, the looks of this place could definitely use some improvements. From the name to the location inside a random plaza, this spot is quite unassuming. It seems a bit run down and old. Even when my family arrived at 11am on a Sunday, there were only two other tables. We almost thought it was closed. But within half an hour, the place completely filled up. Most people who dine here are Asian elders, but every table was filled up by the time we left. The thing that would bring me back here is how affordable and huge that dishes are here. You're getting such a good deal, especially for their lunch specials that range from $12-15 per plate. For a family of four, we ordered 4 dishes but probably could've just had 3 because it was so much food. I swear, they give you double the normal portions you see at other restaurants. We ordered the String Beans, Beef Stew with Turnip, Shrimp with Spicy Salt, and Beef Chow Fun all for $55. Every dish was delicious and well worth your value. For lunch, you also get complimentary rice, soup, and tea. Very affordable, yummy, and huge portions of food to satisfy your Chinese cravings.

Yelp
My family and I have been going here for several years now. It's been our comfort spot for authentic Chinese food. Traditional chinese restaurant environment w/ lazy susans. This visit was VERY satisfying because each dish we ordered was BOMB! Each one perfectly seasoned, it is a bit oily but hey, what do you expect haha. Green beans had a perfect crunch, kung pao chicken was super tender, pork chops had a great crisp, chow fun was delish, deep fried whole fish & sole filet was so crispy & YUM. The clams were the only one that fell a bit short for me particularly this day because I didn't feel like they added enough Black bean sauce or some clam shells had no clam. In the past though, they have done better. All the portions here are very generous at dinner time!Nonetheless, my family really enjoyed our time here. Service was a tiny bit slow, but they were full house, so they would deliver each dish every 10 minutes. It wasn't bad, considering that fact and we came at peak dinner hours. 5pmish on a Sunday. Left restaurant feeling full & happy

Yelp
Real decent prices. Loved the salt pepper squid. The Beijing pork chop was underwhelming. It was more like sweet and sour pork chop. Portions were great

Yelp
Wow! I love coming here and last night, the dinner was spectacular! The portions are massive and perfect for family style dinner! I came here with my family for dinner and had a great time and was eating delicious food. I highly recommend all the dishes posted and also their beef chow fun! I love that the food here is also not too salty and oily! Highly recommend if you want authentic cantonese cuisine. The service here is good. It's quick and fast! It's a great idea to also come here during lunch hours because they have lunch specials which they include rice and soup for free! I really enjoy this place because they are a fair business and the owner and the workers are very kind and will make sure you have a good time at the restaurant! They have amazing food and also their seafood selection is great. I love that all their produce are fresh and the meals that come out has the right flavor from the wok!!! Highly recommend!
