Mr Chow

Mr. Chow has been my favorite restaurant for years and it never disappoints. The food quality has never changed always exceptional, fresh, and full of flavor. Most important they take allergies very seriously. And, every dish tastes just as perfect as the first time I tried it. The atmosphere is elegant yet welcoming, and the service is consistently outstanding. The staff truly go above and beyond to make every visit special. A special mention to Raool, who is one of the best professional, attentive, and always makes sure everything is perfect. Whether it’s for a casual night out or a special occasion, Mr. Chow remains unbeatable. Highly recommended!

My experience at Mr Chow in London was very enjoyable and truly felt like fine dining. The atmosphere was elegant and the service was attentive throughout. I really liked the glazed shrimp, which were tender and full of flavor, and the chicken sticks were also very nice and well prepared. Everything was beautifully presented and felt high quality. Overall, it was a memorable and refined dining experience.

A London Classic that never disappoints. Had a lovely celebration for our daughter’s 18th Birthday, every detail was beautifully taken care of, impeccable service. I want to point out the food: the Peking duck, the crispy beef, the prawns and walnuts just to mention a few. Thank you Raul and the team for your kindness and hospitality.

The delivery arrived very late — about 30 minutes past the estimated time. Aside from that, everything came hot and was genuinely delicious. I ordered the chicken noodle soup and the sweet & spicy chicken, and both were excellent in flavor. The soup didn’t spill at all; the packaging was perfect, and they included napkins, chopsticks, and a spoon. Other than the late delivery, everything was great and the price was reasonable. I would order again. The delay may have been due to the Saturday evening rush, but they should indicate this in advance when giving an estimated delivery time.

I had the best experience at Mr. Chow in London! From the moment I arrived, I truly felt like I was at home. The atmosphere was amazing, the food was incredible, and I honestly had so much fun during my visit. A huge thank you to Raoul and Andrea (sorry if I got the spelling wrong!) — both of them were outstanding. Their kindness, attention, and warm energy made the night unforgettable. They made me feel welcomed, comfortable, and taken care of the entire time. This was one of my favorite dining experiences in London, and I can’t wait to come back. Highly, highly recommended!

This was my second time visiting the restaurant — my first visit was back in 2019 and it was an excellent experience. Unfortunately, I noticed a clear decline in the quality of the food this time. The taste wasn’t as good as before, and the overall attention to detail seemed lacking. I hope the restaurant can return to the high standards it once had

This has been one of my favourite Chinese restaurant/ for years. The glazed prawn / walnut and the duck is the best in town. It usually has a nice casual vibe but busy.

Huge fan of Mr. Chow. Never disappoints. 1st time at the London location and it was superb. A bit more relax than the ones in the states. Service met Mr Chow's standards. Maybe because I know what I like I got right to the point, takes away from the whole experience. However, the drinks were strong and on point. A tequila drink with some nectar juice, dried pineapple as a garnish and a after taste of spicy. Sign me up! The noodles are a classic when at any Mr. Chow's. The crispy beef is out of this world. All was so tasty. Did notice the prices are slightly higher than the American prices, but ofcourse well worth every pence,

Lol found this at a market the day after I ordered from Mr. Chow. This is literally the same exact container (plastic wrap included) from when I ordered the rice for take out. Pretty low for a restaurant to do. I do not suggest ordering the egg fried rice.

ZERO STARS!! DO NOT EAT HERE!!! SAVE YOURSELF AND YOUR STOMACH!!! DO NOT EAT AT MR CHOW IN LONDON!!! IT'S GREASY AND OVERPRICED!!! You must read the full review... I would give this restaurant zero stars but there is no option to. I Went out for what I thought was going to be a lovely evening with my husband and son and had the worst dining experience in London ever, quite possibly worst dining experience of my life. To start with the food is ridiculously over priced, after eating two bites of my £9 per piece chicken satay starter I could already feel my stomach cramping and turning. The rest of the meal quickly followed suit. Lobster vermicelli didn't really have any lobster at all, the rest of the food had either too much sauce or not any sauce at all, it was both flavorless and greasy at the same time. The egg fried rice was a waste of time, zero flavor, sweet and sour chicken was soooo greasy. I had the green prawns, again greasy and lacking flavor. My husband had the sea bass entree it was completely flavorless, I've honestly never had a bad sea bass anywhere before, except here. I didn't know it was possible to mess up sea bass but apparently you can! The Bak Choi was a waste of time, I drank One glass of wine and my husband had one beer and our bill came out to over £225.... The cherry on the top of the evening was that they sat us upstairs on the upper floor, which has a thin and steep death trap of a spiral staircase. On my way downstairs after eating the greasiest meal in London, I slipped on a greasy step half way down the stair case and proceeded to roll down the last 10+ steps. Hitting my legs, back, my shins, my knees, hands and arms and ended up lastly hitting the drink cart at the bottom of the stair case to finally break my fall. Quickly to find that my legs, arms and knees were bleeding, and bruised. They offered me some ice for the pain but all the damage had been done already. This was by far the worst dining experiences I have ever had in my entire life. I wish I had never been here at all, and it makes me sad because I was looking forward to going for so long. I honestly am scared for anyone that enters this restaurant in the future. EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!

Couldn't wait to try the original and was so glad we did. The roast duck dinner is meant for 3+ but my wife and I didn't have any friends with us on this trip, and needed to try the duck so we went for it anyways! So glad we did. It was perfect. Probably the best Peking duck we've ever had, and certainly top 3. The rest of the food was also delicious but the duck was the show stopper. Service was also very professional and the maitre d was awesome.

Worst place and service ever!! Do not waste your money here! We came on vacation and they were very rude. They don't listen to their customers and want you to buy a minimum food upfront when they don't even know what we want to order or how hungry we are. Hopefully this place shuts down soon so they don't upset anyone else!

I can't eat here.....from their website: "Known as an institution in London, MR CHOW draws the generations of the young and fashionable by serving consistently excellent food prepared by Executive Chef Tim Leaf." I'm neither young nor fashionable.....but, I am old and wealthy.

Would give them no stars if I could. Came for a reservation at 9:30. Made us wait 15 minutes before we were seated. We decided to order 3 appetizers and sparkling water before we even saw a drink menu when the waiter demanded that we order a main course dish because they are a "full order" restaurant. We weren't even finished ordering yet! Needless to say we left a 10£ note for the water and immediately walked out

We are always treated well here and given off-menu choices when in the mood. The food is good, the wine list extensive, and the surroundings well done, though more European than authentic Chinese. The biggest issue which detracts from my experience is the tourist trade. And yes, sufficiently so to warrant a three star rating.

Honestly? NO. If I'm out with a killer boob top and hoping to blow some cash like I'm at a strip club, then I need for it to be MAD worth it. I dont just mean sweet and sour pork worth it, I mean ambiance, atmosphere, service, clientele, food availability, male availability, food ON male availability. Honestly. If I have to shell my own shrimp, yall are doing something wrong. In every occasion I've been bullied into coming here, I've had one or two STELLAR dishes (cue in the glazed shrimp, holy Jesus reincarnated. Honestly) and a load of not even passable shit concoctions that are barely even worth the dish they are served on. ALSO. This is FUCKING KNIGHTSBRIDGE, people. What the Pecking Duck is wrong with the crowd! Shape the fuck up kids, those Manolos are not gonna wear themselves.

Oh my God. I was taken here. Standing outside Knightsbridge tube, I was starting to get really angry, the amount of tourists, the amount of Harrods choppers, the amount of rich people, the amount of yellow sports cars... Then we got into the restaurant and we were all just extremely confused by the menu. So we got a set deal, I think £45 per head. I chose the famous mr chow noodles, they looked like spag bol but I was assured they were authentically Chinese. It was quite nice, not brillant but nice. Then the main bit if the meal - duck (I was eating meat at the time) - arrived. I saw the first Chinese person of the night as the chef cut up the Duck and I was getting really excited about it all... It was horrible, they cut up the duck in front of us but took half of it back to the kitchen. When I actually got down to eating it, it was just fatty, not the crispy aromatic meat I was looking forward to. Very weird experience, loads of rich folk in there ordering champagne and vintage wine. No real atmosphere, definitely not my idea of a good Chinese. I want cheesy music, Chinese people and chopsticks, not Mr Chow.

Have been going here since my teenage years. This was the first true Chinese restaurant in the UK and it shows in a good way. Same decoration as when it opened in 1968 makes it very special indeed. I have never seen the menu. Had Chow Mein with Lobster. Crispy Aromatic Duck and who knows what else. Its great. Just let the waiter bring what he feels is good, give some guide lines and let it go. 3 of us once had a meal which equated to over $1500. This was due to great food and better wine. :). Will always go back. Have also been to their sister restaurant in Beverly Hills same but 1973 decor. Both have a noodle making show throughout the night. Oh, one last thing. Asian Chefs, supermodel hostesses and Italian waiters make this quite and experience in London or Beverly Hills.

I love mr chow . For some reason I still prefer the Beverly Hills location but still. The walnut prawns the chicken satay( I would say two orders per person of chicken) , mister chow noddles and the tarts for dessert hmmm delicious . I usually order the same thing over and over and never get tired of it .

Service is attentive, friendly and informed. Food was very good - fire beef was out of this world! I arrived as a single diner and they graciously accommodated...but do try to make a reservation. I'm certain I was merely lucky on getting a table. Great atmosphere...well worth the visit - and easy proximity to Harrod's after a long day of shopping.

We had the green prawns, Mr. Chow's noodles (vegetarian), vegetable dumplings, string beans, sea bass and a couple of great drinks. Highly recommend the Ciao Chow, delicious. Great service, easy atmosphere, and lovely staff. All of the food was awesome!

One of the worst restaurants I have ever eaten in! The food was disgusting, greasy and had zero taste and was ridiculously and completely unjustified in its expensive price! Avoid this dump at all costs!!! The spiral staircase nearly killed my wife ! Avoid Avoid Avoid !! They did not respect the customer saying "if you don't like our rules paying the minimum charges, you may leave" said the manager to the receptionist *in front of us the customers btw* Even though we called before and reserved for our table without them telling us about the minimum charge, which i think it's the customers right to know before coming and getting embarrassed after ordering drinks. For example, Novikov restaurant & bar told us about booking fee right before calling for reservations And what shocked us more, is where the manager said and i quote "you have money anyways" thinking that all we care about is money, where the customer always comes first!1

Came for Sunday lunch, pleasantly surprised. Every dish was delicious and they had a lunch deal, one starter, one main per person and rice and vegetables for the table for only £34/head. Needs a bit of face lift, feels quite dated inside but based on food tastiness, it was great to come here.

This restaurant has been here for forty-one years, but it seems to have survived as long as it has more for its reputation as a draw for celebrity diners than extraordinary food. The atmosphere is European chic and service from the surprisingly Italian staff is excellent, but the food just isn't special enough to warrant the high prices. Prawns with walnuts were overly sweet, the pork in red sauce, served on a bed of crisp whole pea pods, was very fatty, and the scallion pancakes were overcooked and greasy, with very little flavor. Only the shrimp dumplings and Cantonese roast duck drew high praise from everyone at our table. Save yourself a bundle and try New World (http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/new-world-london-4) in Chinatown instead. It's crowded and noisy and has a lot less atmosphere, but the food is much better and will cost you a lot less.

one of the best places in London staff friendly and accommodating glazed prawns, duck, and spring beans are a must at dinner they sometimes have a live demonstration of making noodles from scratch

The reason to give three stars vs two were for anything else but the food. The quality of the food was ok, but not impressive at all. The green prawns were designed only changing the look of the prawns leaving people disappointed at the ordinary flavor. The noodles in squid ink was interesting, but the use of the squid only makes your month look funny rather than delighting people by the seafood's freshness. If you don't know the story of the restaurant, google or wiki it! Then you will feel much better sitting there given the fame and inner design. The service was good. Italian waiters being quick and cool. But I doubt it if I will come back again.

The star for the roud way that they tell me that I have to pay 35 pound for each one and they can't make me choose the dishes I did not like it I remember the one in New York city they were very polite

We have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. The maitre d always takes great care of us. Fabulous food and always consistent.

Impeccable service, impeccable food--just know what to order. I recommend the Mr Chow noodles, chicken satay, and lettuce wraps. Great classy European atmosphere combined with westernised Chinese food. Mr Chow is a great place for parties, evenings, business lunches, and occasions. Reservations are a must for dinner, but at lunch it is easier to get in without one.

I had a fantastic experience here after visiting Harrod's. I went on a Saturday night with no reservations & the staff was more than kind & accommodating to get us s table. My group of 3 waited no more than 10 minutes before we were brought to the upstairs level. The waiter was professional & amiable. We ordered salted & peppered prawns, Mr. Chow noodles , and duck rolls to start. The food was fabulous. Next we ordered pork, lamb, beef and a side of fried rice for the main course. The food was absolutely delicious and enjoyable. The only thing is that it is kind of pricey , but after all you are eating at Mr. chow's. If you have the time & extra money I strongly suggest having a luxurious and memorable dinner at Mr. Chow's London.

If you're looking for good food in a celeb restaurant hangout, this is the perfect place to come. In trendy Knightsbridge, Mr Chow serves up what they call authentic Bejing cuisine, and is pretty good for veggies. You can eat relatively healthy here, which is probably why it attracts the A-listers. Simon Cowell had a meal here last night with his fellow X factor judges Louis Walsh and Cheryl Cole, but poor old Danni Minogue was left out in the cold and not invited, ooops! Very booked up obviously, so book far in advance

Am I a glutton for punishment!??? I went BACK! And the service SUCKED --- I complained to the manager I was so bloody mad. It took forever to get our food and the Belinni I liked so much on the first visit sucked too. NO MORE MR CHOW FOR ME.

I was fortunate to work a few hundred yards away from Mr Chow whenever a supplier offered to buy me lunch, Mr Chow was high on my list. Great location, stunning food has a real wow factor

Went to Mr Chow's for Valentine's Day dinner, and were very underwhelmed. Set menu for £60 per head with a pretty weak selection of four appetisers and four mains. The food reminded me of chinese takeaway circa 1985 - not very Chinese, and not overly tasty. The staff were also quite snooty and it was difficult to attract their attention to get drinks or order. The final insult: including drinks (4 glasses of champagne) our bill came to £245.

Came here on New Years Eve and I must say, the service is so poor. Took the snobby waiters about 5 minutes to sit us and on top of that, we had to call the waiters to finally serve us, plus the food was average. And if you're not from the Middle East, do not be expect to be given exceptional service. The difference in attitude was so clear and unbelievable. Won't recommend. Save your money and go to Zuma instead, only 5 minutes down the road, better service and much better food. Myself and my partner spent over £300 on a set menu. You'd expect at least really good service. Disgusted and highly disappointed. Never again.

Overrated. Food average at best. Service was terrible. They have very bad attitude in this place. The food, the service and the bill left a very bad taste in the mouth. Will never make the mistake of coming here again. Disgusted.

Went to Mr. Chow for late night dinner on July 10, 2015 with my two adult children. Service was fine, but the food was barely palatable and the prices outrageous. The spare ribs ( 6 small ribs for 15 pounds ($24)) were burnt and flavorless. The Beijing Chicken ($33) and Crispy Beef ($43) were so smothered in sauce that the small amount of underlying meat was not identifiable. Only the King Prawns ($38) were decent. And a bowl of "sticky" steamed rice for $10? I have had better Chinese Food for a fraction of the price in numerous strip malls throughout the US. Better off at a corner Chinese take-out. I would give Mr. Chow no stars if this were an option.

Yes, we are tourists--but middle aged and respectful travelers. We wanted to celebrate our last evening in London with our teenaged daughter at the famous Mr. Chow. The food and the service are outstanding. Unfortunately, there was a table of nine--probably fellow US tourists--clad in jeans--the faded sort. Included in their party were 5 children under the age of about 6. They were running and screaming throughout the center of the restaurant, the maître was doing his best to entertain them. They were climbing up and down the spiral staircase in the entrance. I was certain one of them would fall. The two sets of parents were oblivious to their children's behavior. The suggested attire is dressy and 'no children.' This party had no respect for their dining venue and others. When booking a large party can't the restaurant ask how many children and suggest another restaurant. We felt like we were eating at the place with the golden arches. We've had the experience of a restaurant not allowing entrance when our children were young--can't Mr. Chow's?
