"If you read Pride and Prejudice, you’ll understand the name of this bar. If not, you should really at least watch the miniseries sometime. Mr. Darcy’s is a dark little cocktail spot with books, an antique piano, and a variety of seating situations that make it pretty versatile for going out. And the drinks are incredible, whether you go for something like an Old Fashioned infused with smoke to the “Love” cocktail with passionfruit, gin, sour cherry, tea, lemon, and whipped aquafaba (basically vegan egg white foam made from chickpea water) on top. This place is just really great." - Aimee Rizzo

My mother and I were on holiday and visited this location on one of the hottest days this summer. Most other places were closed, but we really needed a great meal. We wanted something simple and I was craving a burger. We noticed that they were the home of the Parmesan fries. Well, I assumed if they had fries they would also have burgers. We went in and the selection of burgers were great and I was very excited to try them all. If only I had enough stomachs. The beer selection was great and included some local beers. The place was packed and although it was crazy they were very accommodating with sitting us where we wanted to sit. It’s very important that a restaurant doesn’t start slacking on their customer service when busy and they clearly understand that. I can’t wait to go back here.

This was hands down one of the best burgers that I’ve ever had. The beef was Waygu beef - def the way to go! Was just perfectly cooked. Brussels were amazing. All of the sauces were great. The sriracha cheese sauce - wow! Caramelized onions were perfect. Best lunch experience in Okemo!!!

Came here as a recommendation from a lot of locals. Martini was fabulous as was my burger. Shared the parm truffle fries with my family and my aunt had the salmon entree which she loved. What really set this restaurant apart was the customer service. The owner is there hosting and perhaps the most pleasant friendly person I have encountered here yet. Will definitely go back!

Stayed in Windham and had a hard time finding a nice place to eat this was one of the few places open that offered dine-in service. We were a group of 6 and they accommodated us an hour before closing with no problem at all. I ordered the Wagyu burger with cheddar cheese and bacon and it was really delicious. Highly recommend the Parmesan fries they were crispy and perfect. The service was also excellent our waitress was courteous and quick. Only complaint was my friends filet mignon it was cooked to the incorrect temperature and his mashed potatoes weren’t so great. Other than that we had a great experience and would definitely come back for the burger.

Google
First time here after it changed over from an italian restaurant (which was a few years ago). Quite happy with the new place. Had their chicken soup, which was actually quite good, and ceasar salad. Also good. They have an extensive burger menu, and from what I saw on other's plates, they looked pretty good. Also a nice cocktail selection. Good, friendly, service. Will definitely be back and try a burger.

Google
Super interesting place to eat, looks like it used to be a house but transformed into a beautiful restaurant and bar amazingly. Parmesan fries were pretty good and Mac and cheese was absolutely fantastic.

Delicious! Our first night in town on vacation and we chose Mr. Darcy's with low expectations, which the food far exceeded. We split a wagyu burger, parmesan truffle fries and the mac and cheese and we left very satisfied. We ate upstairs and the decor was nothing special but the food certainly made up for it. Would definitely recommend for a casual meal.

Yelp
A charming spot for an absolutely delicious meal with fantastic service, nestled in the town of Ludlow, VT. We found this place out of sheer luck, as there aren't a lot of places open on Monday evenings. We came in about an hour before closing, and apologized to the server, assuring her we wouldn't keep her late. She couldn't have been kinder or more welcoming! She encouraged us to take our time, shared her menu recommendations, as well as walked us through their seasonal cocktails. This is not your average pub. The food was absolutely delicious, made with fresh ingredients and local flavors. We liked it so much we planned to come back again, but unfortunately they were closed Tuesday & Wednesday. When you find yourself in Ludlow, be sure to check this place out.

Yelp
This business is closed for good. It was part of the flood that hit Ludlow. It was a fine restaurant but it is no longer.

Yelp
We had really nice and juicy burgers at Mr. Darcy! The joint is right across from the pet-friendly condo that we rented during our snowboard trip, it's about 6-7 mins from Okemo. Highly recommend to enjoy some cold beers and delicious burgers after a day skiing/riding on the mountains. We did the famous build your own burger, I opted for 1/2 lb VT Wagyu Beef, Vermont Cheddar and Caramelized onions. It was so delicious. We will definitely be back on our next snowboard trip at Okemo!

Yelp
Good chicken burger with VT goat cheese, garlic aioli, mushrooms, and caramelized onions. Parmesan truffle fries were also great--very crispy and flavorful. Brussels sprouts were also good.

Brian V.

Yelp
Solid burger joint and good drinks as well. Our waitress was awesome! We had a large group and sat upstairs, and she was in the mix of it with us which we loved. Good ribbing and strong recommendations. -Excellent burgers and fries. -Wings we're tasty as were the fried pickles for an app. -plenty of other dishes everyone enjoyed. I'll be back. F

Yelp
Came here twice a few years ago. Food was great. Service was great. This time around, not so much. Service was still good, hostess was honest which is appreciated. Our server was younger, so maybe not so efficient at accomodating for a backed up kitchen? Kitchen was for sure overwhelmed, totally understandable, but all three burgers came out cold and raw in the middle. Same with the table behind us. And when they tried to make it better, was still barely cooked in the middle. And completely lacked flavor, which was not how it was last time we were here. Onion soup was good, brussels were good. Tot appetizer needed the cheese to be melted. It seemed more like tater tots with stuff slapped on it haphazardly. Cocktail had a great idea behind it, but really syrupy and didn't appear mixed or in a crafted fashion. Dessert: flourless was good. Lava smore's cake was on the drier side... Overall: not impressed this time around...

Yelp
The food is good, but nothing special. Service was good even at a fully booked time. Ambiance is nice casual Vermont.

Deirdra K.

Yelp
Wow! What a great place. Sandy was so efficient in getting our group situated and making sure we were seated in a timely manner. ( we had one group of 3 who preferred the bar and one of 3 who preferred a table). She handled the influx of people on MLK day weekend professionally and friendly. She had a inviting demeanor and was very accommodating. She even checked up on us after we were seated to see how we were doing. The food was GREAT! Tasty and filling. Portion size was perfect. Adding pictures to confirm! Would definitely come again.

Christina A.

Yelp
Mr. Darcy's is such a great spot for live music, great food and has an incredible staff. They have outdoor seating available and you can bring your dog! The vibe is definitely casual, and it's a great place to bring your family. We got this MASSIVE bacon wagyu beef burger with Vermont goat cheese, smashed avocado, and chipotle mayo. We also tried the baked Brussels sprouts for an app. Absolutely delicious! The only reason I took off a star was because the avocado on the burger wasn't fresh, but other than that we had a great experience.

Yelp
We went here a couple years ago and loved the burger. Service was amazing and efficient. Ambiance was like a small local bar. So sad that the flood ruined this beautiful place

Scott A.

Yelp
Okay, I struggled with this review. I love this place, I really do. The service is great, the food is awesome, and the atmosphere is right in my wheelhouse. What I struggled with is a few things that when added together really bugged me. The menu is simple which I like. For the most part typical bar fare. We asked our server if the burgers came with fries and he advised that they did not. Okay no problem. Another family asked the same server the same question minutes after we did. I can't imagine that they don't get this question multiple times a day. Perhaps make the menu clearer? Simple and yet so silly. Secondly, since everything is a La carte it doesn't take much to rack up a big bill. Three burgers, 2 orders of fries and a chicken caesar salad and the bill was $100. We didn't even have drinks other than water!! The burgers were awesome though I will say that but considering that they don't come with anything other than the burger itself, this place is anything but inexpensive. Lastly when I got the bill there was a 3% "wellness" charge tacked onto the bill. I had no idea what this was until I looked it up. Apparently it's for the people that work in the kitchen, like a tip. Since you don't actually interface with the kitchen staff, it's earmarked for them specifically. Now I don't necessarily mind tipping the kitchen staff but the thing is, don't slap a charge on my bill without letting me know about it first. NOT COOL! I did ask the server what it was for and he told me he could take it off my bill if I wanted. I had him leave it on, but it didn't sit well with me. It's not like the place was inexpensive, so pay your staff appropriately and don't sneak extra charges on my bill. But like I said before, the staff was pleasant and the food was good. I recommend Mr. Darcy's if you don't mind paying NY prices for a great burger in Ludlow VT.

Yelp
Stopped in as a second choice. Area was busy. Service here was painfully slow. The chicken wings were rated 2/5. I hate my wings without a crispy or grilled texture. You could easily pull off the soft, fatty skin and the wings were warm not hot. I even questioned to myself if they were cooked enough. I would not recommend getting wings. We got the smash burgers. Two 1/4 pound patties. On the dry side. You get charge extra for cheese. You can also add on toppings and sauce for an extra charge. Sides are a la carte. Large truffle fries was not that large. Barely shareable w 2 people. All and all, I would move on to a different restaurant. I was not impressed. Also, the menu is very limited.

Jonathan V.

Yelp
First time coming here and was happy to say the food was amazing. Got the Mozzarella Fritters and the Garlic Bread to start for the table, both of which were well seasoned and perfectly paired with marinara sauce. Then for the main course, the rodeo burger with a side of parmesan fries cooked exactly to medium with tons of flavor. As for the service and environment, our waiter had to tend between our group of 4 and a loud and obnoxious group of drinkers. After delivering our food she was gone out of sight until we needed the check. Overall food was great, however service was lacking in terms of hospitality and respect for other paying customers.

Susan L.

Yelp
The waitress took 10 minutes to come over once seated and another 10 to bring waters. Our food never came after 45 minutes and the waitress said there was an error and it would take 10 more minutes. We waited another 20 minutes and left. Some of the tables around us who came way after us were getting their food. We were treated horribly. But it was comic watching the hostess put the wrong orders on tables and then taking them off after sitting on the table to find the correct table.

Chris S.

Yelp
We were passing through the Ludlow area today on a leaf-peeping journey and spotted this place. We stopped in and were treated well by friendly staff. The service was great and the food was even better. I had the farmhouse burger with a side of parmesan truffle fries. The burger was cooked to perfection, bread and the bacon were delicious. But the parmesan truffle fries were freaking awesome and really made the dish. I was very happy with my order, and overall establishment. Definitely give this place a try it is worth the stop.

Lois M.

Yelp
Our family visited this eatery 2x. The meal the first time was excellent (during Dec 2022); we had the same wagyu burger the second time (March 2023) and was disappointed with the food quality.

Yelp
Great choice in Ludlow!! If you are looking for a great place for a burger, this is the place!! Tge atmosphere was good, the small bar was the perfect loc! Molly ( bartender) was OUTSTANDING! The burger was off the chart!

Karin H.

Yelp
We were visiting the area and had passed by this place a few times and thought we would give it a try for dinner. The menu is mostly Italian fare, but I opted for the mac and cheese (always a risk for me in a restaurant as I am uber picky about my mac and cheese.) It was super hot so the first few bites were hard to taste but after it cooled down a bit it was quite good for restaurant mac and cheese. My husband ordered the chicken parmigiano which he said was good but not his favorite. He didn't eat the accompanying spaghetti because he said the sauce tasted like canned tomato and not much else. The service was good and the ambiance was nice. I would go back, but it would probably not be until I had tried some other places first.

David T.

Yelp
Great service all around from our server to the bartender that came to our table to make sire the drinks were perfect. I can't believe the overall rating is not at least 4.5. Great ambiance and clean. And the food was 10 out of 10.

Michael R.

Yelp
Great food! Good service, can get busy during the ski season. A classic burger joint, good vibes and atmosphere. Definitely recommend

Dan S.

Yelp
Came back a few years later in the winter season and still feel like the prior review is spot on. This place is just fine. Had the steak sandwich. The steak itself was good though the bread was a bit dry. Would've been nice to have some au jus on the side. The fries, however, were much better than I remember. A generous portion (enough to split) with plenty of Parmesan and truffle oil to spare. The kids pizza was a miss. A bunch of sauce, not much cheese. The server had messed up the order too but that happens. The UFO white beer on tap was refreshing and TVs had on some basketball games. Service otherwise was attentive and food came out pretty quickly. Overall: Solid if unspectacular.

Molly M.

Yelp
Stopped at Darcy's after a long hike, and absolutely enjoyed the experience. From the welcoming hostess, Emma to our upbeat knowledgeable server, Aileen and the warm crispy pickles fries, veg burger, and famous truffle fries yum yum yum!! Oh and of course the margs. *two thumbs up* We will be back.

Ann P.

Yelp
This is a spot we come to every time we are in Ludlow. The fries are to die for. Tonight I had the Diablo burger, hubby had chicken parm, 8 year old son had a burger with fries (there is no burger on the kids menu), 5 year old had the kid's chicken fingers. The chicken finger portion was generous and were eaten all up! The Diablo burger wasn't spicy and the chicken parm had a lot of oregano. Satisfied once again! February 11, 2019 - UPDATE We are back for our yearly trip to Okemo. I need to decrease stars. The host, David was unwelcoming, unfriendly and never smiled. Why is this guy the first person you see??? He really should stay back of house. On to the food. I had El Diablo burger again and this year was a kick to it, which was good. Otherwise, the plate/presentation was messy, they didn't sprinkle any truffle on the fries and thee fries were sitting in a pool of oil. My friend had the short rib bourguignon and said it was just so-so. It had only 2 little pieces of beef. My husband had the prime rib sandwich and it was missing the horseradish sauce. He said "this place is a burger and beer place". Enough said. Mr. Darcy, we want to keep coming back but you're turning into a run-of-the-mill burger joint.

Sadie W.

Yelp
My husband comes here after work a few times a year and he loves it. After a hard day/night's work when I know he isn't looking after himself, Mr. Darcy's staff and menu reboot him back to a human again. He loves the menu and the good costumer service. Special shout out for the mozzarella sticks, the hamburger and the friendly servers. Especially Nathan. Thank you so much for remembering what we like and for going that extra mile to make things exceptional. Comfort meets class. A++

Matt L.

Yelp
While staying in the area for a long weekend, the craving for a good burger overpowered me which landed my girlfriend and I here for dinner. I had The Frenchie burger topped with French Brie and caramelized onions which was delicious. The truffle fries with Parmesan were great as well and my girlfriend had the Fog Horn Leg Horn. All in all, the food, drinks and service was good and we look forward to coming back next time we're in the area.

Ivy J.

Yelp
Excellent burger and fries served with cold beer. What's not to love. We went to Mr. Darcy's bar after a long day skiing and the staff was terrific we got seated promptly. It was a weekday, the weekends are quite busy. The food was delicious and served promptly. We had the mushroom burger with Swiss cheese and and a cheeseburger. Shared the fries which was a huge order. Overall excellent food, a bit pricey, but it is a ski town in winter.

Amanda P.

Yelp
Get the Wagyu burger and truffle fries! That burger melts in your mouth and is worth every penny. For those complaining about prices, 100% Wagyu beef is expensive and worth it. The sriracha cheese sauce was delicious. The truffle fries were amazing. The Brussels sprouts with Parmesan garlic dipping sauce were also great. What a great lunch after a few hours on the mountain. Pleasant surprise. One of the best burgers I've ever had. The beef was from a local farm in Vermont. Bread was very tasty too.

Maureen H.

Yelp
Great burgers and sides. Sat outside with a view into town and our service was excellent.

Lori H.

Yelp
The place was freezing service was excellent Salmon was very good . burger was above average Great expresó Martinis .Pinot Noir was soooo cold Bring a blanket and you will have have a great meal !!!

Gill G.

Yelp
Solid 4! Farmhouse and Smoke House Blue burgers for most. My daughter had the sirloin and loved it. The French onion soup is legit. Shrimp appetizer was the bomb!!!!

Ted N.

Yelp
Food was decent but $40 for a hamburger and a side and a beer? no thanks (my mistake should have walked when I was told the $20+ burger didn't come with a side). Service was underwhelming at best. Not certain that they cared too much about it though but I was an after thought although they were "so hungry". I won't be back.

Jeannie T.

Yelp
Super juicy burgers and great service. There's a wait but worth it. Get here early as it gets packed fast.

Leslie B.

Yelp
Worst burger I've ever had. Raw, cold and tasteless. Friendly staff, cute place... but I came for a hot juicy burger. I actually felt sick afterwards.

Nancy H.

Yelp
The burgers are delicious, the staff is amazing. Please stop by here if you are in the area for a great hamburger

Judith P.

Yelp
We have been eating at Mr. Darcy's for years. It was always a casual, fun restaurant with good specials especially during the "slow" times. Last year it changed ownership and we found the menu changed quite a bit with an heavy emphasis on burgers - probably 75% of the menu is devoted to all kinds of burger combos, with some slightly bizarre combos - cheese fritter with Mac and cheese on a burger? Also note, burgers started at $18 with no fries or sides. We tried the meatball parm sliders, a burger and onion rings. It was, to put it bluntly, meh. Overall, it was a limited menu, with overpriced burgers and mediocre fare. A nod to our server, he was great. One more observation - both outside doors were wide open and all of the customers in the bar area were wearing jackets ( outdoor temp when we left 48 degrees). None of the staff noticed.

Anthony E.

Yelp
This restaurant robbed me blind! They charged a fortune for under cooked sub-par burgers that I had to assemble myself! I paid for the bun to be branded with the restaurants forgettable and irrelevant name. I also had to pay extra because fries are not included. My girlfriend ordered a caesar salad with grilled chicken, $20. The waiter served her moistened lettuce with bone dry rubber that reminisced the flavor of chicken. I was charged $16 for an apple cider tequila cocktail that tasted like watered down apple juice with a drop of tequila. When walking out of the restaurant we ran into a patron in their car asking about our experience. I'll tell you exactly what I told them...you're better off pulling into a Cumberland Farms or All Town gas station on your way home!

Donald M.

Yelp
With all restaurants in the city seeming to be closed I searched for a place to eat. And there it was "Mr. Darcy's Bar & Burger" which seemed to be the light at the end of the tunnel, boy was I wrong. I walked in and the lady at the front seated me and also served me. She asked what I wanted to drink immediately with no menu I asked for a drink menu and she seemed angry I asked for one and then told her not to bother and get me a club soda. After 20 minutes my club soda finally arrived and she finally placed a menu on my table. Not even 10 seconds later (I didn't even read a quarter of the menu yet) she runs back and asks what I want. I told her that I didn't even read the menu yet and she runs and I see her running around the restaurant and after another 20 minutes I tell her as she whips by that I'm ready to order, She goes "I'm not ready to take your order" and she runs off. This women doesn't know her ass from her elbow. A hero waiter saw the buffoonery that was going on and he tried to help us. He started to take our order and she got mad that he stole her table and sent him off and then didn't even take our order again. I left soon after and told her she's the worst service I've had. She said goodbye in a sarcastic tone. Never again, why are we still sending the worst of the worst prisoners to pelican bay??? Send 'em here and have to deal with this lady, That'll change them quicker!!!

Jessica M.

Yelp
Service was great! Another nearby restaurant was annoyed by our large group with kids so we took our business to Mr. Darcy's. Favorites were the farmhouse and frenchie burgers and brussel sprouts. They were very accommodating and had gluten free buns and pasta as well. Our only disappointment was that they ran out of the fried pickles. Otherwise a delicious meal in a comfortable place.

Matt P.

Yelp
Mr. Darcy's is one of the long-standing restaurants in Ludlow, VT. It has been around for years so I decided to go with my cousin and grandmother one night to try it out since I'd never been. The atmosphere inside was nice and for a Monday night it wasn't too crowded and we immediately got a table. Our waitress was friendly. We ordered some fried pickles to start, which were fresh out of the fryer and nice and crispy with a ranch dipping sauce. Definitely tasty but the price of $8.95 seemed a bit high. I ordered the Smokehouse Blues burger which was large and had three thick strips of bacon but I was disappointed that the blue cheese was only a tiny slice of pre-packaged blue cheese melted on the burger that I couldn't even taste. I wouldn't have known the blue cheese was even there if it wasn't written on the menu. The best part of my burger was the literal mountain of parmesan truffle fries that were so perfectly crispy and seasoned. My grandmother opted for the bacon-wrapped scallops, which, while the three scallops were nicely presented on the plate, were absolutely not worth $12.95. It feels like Mr. Darcy's is catering to the tourists who come to Vermont to ski at Okemo mountain. They must be able to afford these prices because it feels like your average person from Ludlow can't. I don't think I'll be coming back, not when there are so many other places in town to try out.

Anthony C.

Yelp
Went there for drinks only. Service was very good, as were all the drinks. Old fashioned and dirty martini were particularly. Would have given five stars were it not for the fact that they added the tip to the bill AND did not tell us they did so. That isn't something any restaurant should do, but if they do, they should at least point it out.

Jenna P.

Yelp
GREAT casual ambiance for a burger and beer right in town! slightly pricey, but worth the money for a custom burger with all the works. Lovely staff too, will return!!!

Laura J.

Yelp
We can't say enough great things about Sandy and the team at Mr. Darcy's! We arrived on a very busy night with a very large group. We really didn't expect to get a table. Sandy somehow worked some magic and opened up the upstairs to fit all 23 of us! She warned us that the food might be delayed, but it really wasn't bad at all. All the food was delicious and the wait staff was wonderful. This was a great experience for us and memorable for our families.

Jason C.

Yelp
Molly was wonderful, great energy at the bar, very attentive and friendly. Was eager to ask about our trip and relate it to her own life. Nothing better than being in a different city and feeling like you're home!! Not to mention, the drinks were mixed perfectly ;)

Ralph A.

Yelp
Delicious meal. Ordered it to go and it was ready on time. Staff were very friendly. One comment would be that if you order a burger medium, it will be still very rare inside. but overall delicious. Highly recommend.

Eric D.

Yelp
Finally caught Mr Darcy's when they were open . We usually drive by on the way to our annual golf trip at Killington in the am. Seeing it shares my last name I needed to stop . 4 of us stopped and since their sign said home of the world famous truffle fries we grab a couple orders and some well needed beers. Their beer selection definitely highlighted Vermont's local beer scene. The truffle fries were well prepared and tasted delicious with our beers . The staff was great and joked with me after seeing my last name was DArcy. Next time I will have to coordinate so we have time to eat for sure. If you are in the area it's worth a stop .

Alexander Y.

Yelp
After skiing with all the cousins on Christmas Day we made a reservation for 4:30pm and they seated us immediately. We just finished skiing so we were all extremely hungry and the manager was so very nice and welcoming. The place is well managed and dimly lit. Nearly all of us including myself included ordered the farmhouse burger and it was FABULOUS!! The Truffle fries that came with the entree were also a major plus! The food was served pretty fast as well. PROS: Great food, nice ambience, well managed CONS: Kind of pricey

Jacquelyn And Austin F.

Yelp
We ate here the other day because we had such a nice experience at Sam's Steakhouse so figured the same owner should offer similar experiences, WRONG. We ordered the cheese tots as an appetizer and those tots are the only reason this place is getting any stars, that and maybe the service. The menu was very very limited, it isn't called Mr Darcy's Burgers, it's a bar and grill. Reluctantly, I ordered the $15 burger, only because they claim it to be famous, and my wife ordered the Chicken Parmesan. My burger wasn't anything special; in fact I suspect it made me sick because all night I had the shits. My wife wasn't happy with her entree either. The dessert was good, it was the same selection as Sam's Steakhouse. In the end I would have much rather eaten at the "higher end" steakhouse seeing the food was so much better and the price was basically the same.

Elizabeth V.

Yelp
One word- Nathan. Nathan is the true Mr. Darcy. He humbly let us know that he is the creator of the entire cocktail menu and let me tell you, everything was superb. I have not had a margarita that has blown me away in a very long time. He also recommended the cobbler cocktail and it taste like an actual dessert. The food here is amazing! My friends and I ordered the Darcy (double patty), we were all fulfilled with our orders. May not be the original home of the parmesan truffle fries but they still delivered.

Hong N.

Yelp
Great food! Great service! My fiancé and I were in the area for the week and this place was so good we went back twice!! Fries are to die for!! Burger was great and everything else I had was amazing!
