Make sure you check in on Yelp for 10% off a single cone! Mr. Dewie's Cashew Creamery has 3 locations in the East Bay, and I stopped by this location since I was in the area. I'm pretty sure I haven't had cashew based ice cream before, and was really excited to give it a try. This location of Mr. Dewie's had 15 flavors of ice cream available, and you can order ice cream, bon bons, or a chocolate chip cookie sandwich. They also have vegan cones and vegan toppings available. You're allowed to sample if there isn't a line, and I tried:
-Chocolate Cookie Crumble: Very chocolately, with some crunch from the cookie crumbles.
-Just Peachy: You could taste the peach flavor, but the peach/cashew combination was a bit strange for me.
I ended up getting a Single Cone (w/Caramel Almond Crunch & Roasted Cashew, $4.50, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=NxMVFpsX-XC1hN8SGhklbg&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg). Out of the two flavors, the roasted cashew was my favorite since it highlighted the nuttiness of the cashew. The caramel almond crunch was good, but I felt the caramel flavor was the most dominant. The sugar cone was delicious, and I loved the additional crunch. The cashew milk based ice cream was smooth in some bites, and slightly gritty in others. I thought it was more airy/fluffy than cow's milk ice cream, but prefer oat or coconut milk based ice cream for a non-diary ice cream option. I would still return to Mr. Dewie's though, and give their other ice cream flavors a try as well as their bon bons.
All staff were still wearing masks, and they had hand sanitizer. There was no indoor seating, but there were a few tables set up for outdoor seating. Street parking is available, but spots can be limited in this area, especially during the lunch and dinner rushes on the weekends.
