The Best Takeout Restaurants in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"A Seattle mainstay for over four decades, Mr. D’s Greek Delicacies is still serving some of the best Hellenic eats in the city. The walk-up counter in Pike Place Market—just across from the Fish Guys — provides a prime opportunity for grab-and-go grub. Along with a tempting case full of homemade baklava, marketgoers will find a menu full of Greek favorites like spanakopita, souvlaki kebabs, and an extensive list of signature gyros. Mr. D’s has outdoor seating right in front of the shop, but we recommend beating the foot traffic and finding a spot on the revamped waterfront. The gyros taste even better paired with a view of Elliott Bay." - Joey Carreon

Google
Had the 9 pc falafel with hummus. Would definitely try the tziki dip next time. Dip is extra 2 bucks. Falafel was very good! Not fried too hard. Took a minute because I got there when it opened.

Aparna Rajeevan

Google
I ordered their chicken kebab and honestly speaking if you have ever had authentic kebab this item will be funny. It is nowhere close to original kebabs. I highly recommend to revisit the cooking notebooks.. Just partially grilled chicken with absolutely no flavours or taste -would never come back

Mr. D's Greek Delicacies is a hidden gem in the heart of Pike Place Market! From the moment you see the iconic yellow cone Yeero, you know you're in for a treat. The flavors are bold, authentic, and incredibly satisfying. The gyro is perfectly seasoned, with tender meat and fresh, flavorful toppings. Every bite is a delicious journey to Greece. The service is quick, and the staff are friendly, making the whole experience even better. If you're at Pike Place Market, this spot is a must-try. Whether you're a first-timer or a regular, Mr. D's will surely become a favorite!

Google
Visited on 07/07/22 Great: the food was pretty fast, considering how busy they were. The gyro was good and simple. I had the traditional lamb. Good: the seasoned fries were a mix of soggy and crispy. They could use more flavor. We also ordered the Greek-style lamb gyro (they ran out of chicken). It was ok and nothing special. Bad: nothing bad.

Google
We saw so many people around the market with gyros, and had to figure out where they got them from because they looked so tasty. We finally came across this place on our way out and got the traditional lamb gyro. The lamb was so tender and soft, and the tzatziki was fresh. Amazing!

Chris S

Google
Delicious gyro, one of the best I’ve had! Super fast service.

Google
I hate driving to Seattle and all of the traffic around Pikes Market but these gyros are so amazing. They are my favorite, we love the lamb ones. They are always fresh and the cans are ice cold which is great on a really hot day. The guys who work here are so nice and personable too

Caden Glisson

Google
I would t go here if you want ‘authentic’ Hellenic/greek food, but for street gyros this was 🤌🏻🤌🏻 I would absolutely recommend also the tzatziki was delicious, just the way yiayia makes it (I think) solid 8/10

Yelp
I've been coming here since I was a kid and eating two gyros at a time before there were copycats in Seattle. The tzatziki is a wonderful mix of tartness and tanginess that I just want to smother on all of my food. The grill on the chicken is done right in front of me and the way that mu lamb and beef gyro is shaved off of the spit is an art form. This review is long overdue. For a small stand before food trucks and raised prices, Mr. D's is a must if you're in the market.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolute crap. My lamb "yeero" was about 5% lamb and 95% iceberg lettuce. The fries that were supposed to come inside? Non-existent. I had been looking forward to trying this place but like so much food in Seattle, it's over priced and lacking in authenticity and flavor. Boo hissssssss

Yelp
The food was fresh, warm and tasty. The line was a bit long but moved rather quickly. Seating is limited. We were watching as ppl would finish up eating and swarm in on the table to take ownership. It was a must mentality if you wanted a seat to sit down and stuff your face with some yummy goodness! Check it out. I appreciated the flavors of the chicken gyro and seasonings. Fries were light and crispy. The pyllo dough was warm and flaky. The goodies were fresh as well.

Yelp
Came for lunch at Pike Place Market to get some Greek food. In the market there's a few places to get falafel, hummus, and other classic Greek items. Mr. D's is one of these. Has most of the favorites of Greek cuisine. There's the menu plus you can get a few grocery items for later. At lunch it was already busy. It's a place that has order at the counter. There's a few tables outside if wanting to eat here. Has a pretty impressive menu of classics. We got a few things. It's about $10 for the Falafel Gyro. This has a choice of hummus or tzatziki, along with a topping of fresh vegetables. A lot of healthier items including the Vegetarian Platter. This has dolmathes, falafel, hummus, pitas, spanakopita, and tyropita. Also you can get a few groceries. There's dolmathes, feta, olives and more. Best place around here for classic Greek. It's located on Pike Place. There's things for meat eaters as well as vegetarians.

Yelp
It can get very busy here, with everyone walking trying to get through to other shops and restaurants. But what are you to expect, with the location of the restaurant right at Pikes place. It was pretty hard to find a place to sit with some shade. Alright, so with the food. I thought the lamb gyro was good. The sauce inside the gyro was good and not so tangy. Which was good and they gave lots of meat! I mean, my gyro was pretty much spilling over when I was eating. The only thing that I didn't like much was our fries. We ordered the original fries and unfortunately this came out cold!
google avatar

Pratik S.

Yelp
Rude owner, half cooked chicken. Overpriced food menu. Slow delivery. Doesn't give authentic food.
google avatar

Sophia M.

Yelp
A great tourist food spot! Everything comes out hot and ready for you. Authentic Mediterranean. I love their fries! Came on a slow week day. Busier days can be hit or miss. My friend and I's fresh bouquet. *wink* See photo

Yelp
It was okay. Nothing too exciting.exciting. Not the best customer service, but the food was tasty.
google avatar

Tiana D.

Yelp
A great place for a grab and go lunch at the market. We got our food relatively quickly. The traditional style lamb yeero had great flavors (with the exception of the tomatoes, which were a little bland and gritty). But the lamb was perfect, the bread was fresh, and the rest of the veggies gave it a nice crunch. I appreciated the way the yeero was wrapped and that you get a fork to eat.
google avatar

Yelp
Quick- Delicious - Light. Coming from Detroit where the Mediterranean food scene is incredible, I was doubtful I'd find anything comparable. Got a lamb gyro with fries inside "the Greek" and it was fantastic. Our food came fast and it was incredible. Not too filling where you want to waddle back to your car but just enough to give you a boost to walk pike market place. We sat at picnic tables outside and enjoyed the spot. We will be back!!! Detroit people - it's worth it

Rithwik K.

Yelp
Their Greek style lamb gyro is a must. Just be aware that it is incredibly messy to eat and you'll want to bring some napkins. Also had their falafels mango lemonade and baklava and they're all highly recommended. The restaurant is in pike place so you can get your food and go walk around.
google avatar

Preston B.

Yelp
Terrible. Not seasoned. The meat texture was strange. The white sauce had no flavor whatsoever, very bland. All stars deducted.
google avatar

Allegra P.

Yelp
Fantastic fresh falafel and Mr D is so cute and nice. I love how the sauces were fresh and kind of thin so they coated the falafel which was very moist well. Service was friendly. Ambience was amazing
google avatar

Ricky K.

Yelp
A quick and fast solid place if you want a fix of greek food. I came here close to their closing time so there wasn't any line at all. I got their chicken gyro and I loved how much filling they added inside of it. Lots of good tender pieces of meat, fresh veggies, and tzatziki sauce all incorporated into it. I ordered their gyro Greek Style and it's basically fries added inside. The texture of the fries definitely adds to the gyro and it was pretty good! If you're in Pike's Place and craving some Greek food, definitely stop by!

Jordan P.

Yelp
Terrible! Tourist trap. Do not eat here. There is much better food to be had in pike's market. Had traditional gyro. Mostly lettuce with a little meat. Baklava was terrible. Took one bite and threw it away.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
Quick, delicious Greek food! The line was pretty long when I went on a Saturday afternoon but it moved pretty quickly and I got my food within minutes of ordering. I ordered the chicken gyro which was great. The chicken was flavorful and the pita was soft. Would def recommend checking this place out if you're in the Pike Place area!
google avatar

Micah N.

Yelp
Normally food in tourist areas ain't so great but this place eclipses my top Mediterranean food by far! We both got a Greek style gyro to go and for starters anything with fries in it done tastefully is bomb and this didn't disappoint. If you get them to go it's in a cone and nothing leaked, portions are still fat and it kept its warmth for all over 20 min. Everyone we dealt with when we were in town were super nice and set us up for success as we cruised the market. Sorry yamas you've been dethroned!
google avatar

Annabella V.

Yelp
I think this is one of the more underrated spots at the Pikes Place Market because there definitely should've been a longer line here! The food was AMAZING, and they put the perfect amount of Tzatziki which a lot of Greek places I've been are light-handed on. I recommend getting a side of Tzatziki with the plain fries to have something to dip them in, but if you don't they are seasoned enough to eat on their own. We also got the Strawberry Lemonade and it was HEAVENLY! My only grievances was that there was limited to no seating, but that's not exactly something they can control. Also maybe putting the gyros in to-go boxes or some other way of serving it so it would be neater/easier to eat. Other than that, everyone was so friendly and efficient, my review borders on a 5 and I hope you'll give it a try!
google avatar

Sharon F.

Yelp
Solid gyro place. Finally got to try after walking past so many times and being tempted by the delicious smells. Very solid gyro, they give a good amount per serving! The sauce was delicious. The mango lemonade was too sweet. They have seating right in front of the restaurant which is really nice. Good gyro, but there's definitely better ones in Seattle.
google avatar

George B.

Yelp
Ordered a traditional Greek "yeero" with a side of hummus and here it is... The portion was large, plenty of fresh lettuce, sauce and of course meat. All ingredients were fresh and tasty, sadly the meat was cold which was a bit of a downer for the $11 price tag but still tasty. Hummus wasn't all good and wouldn't reorder. Location is great, easy to walk upto and directly in front of pike market. Would come back and I'd give a 3.5 star and nice to have outside seating as well.
google avatar

Tom B.

Yelp
Very good gyro. Got the Greek Style Lamb. It means it has fries inside. Tasty meat and good sauce. I wouldn't go to Pike place Market on the weekend, too many people. The food was prepared quickly.
google avatar

Amber F.

Yelp
Slow service, not even busy and between the 4 employees they spent WAY too long to cook one chicken kebab (very confusing and frustrating) without any apology. Food was okay, service was horrible.
google avatar

Eric H.

Yelp
The gyros here were delicious. This is almost like a food truck in my book although it's a stand in Pikes market. The owners were very nice, food came fast, tasted amazing and made me happy. I love how thin they sliced the lamb and the tzatziki sauce was perfect. This is a great spot to grab a gyro (or yeero as they spell it). Their lemonades are tasty too.
google avatar

Saha S.

Yelp
This is one of the dozens of food vendors in Seattle's Pike Place Market, and I wish I had gone here more. We came here a few times and tried the chicken yeero, fries, and the Spanokopita. All were excellent and fresh tasting. The employees were super friendly and didn't rush us at all. According to them, the meat is halal, which is always a huge plus. The lines can get long during peak hours, but it's worth the wait. This is one of the places that I definitely plan on coming back to when I'm in Seattle.
google avatar

Linda P.

Yelp
Food was ok but the server were rude and didn't acknowledge me when I walked up for servers minutes. Almost walked away when it was obvious that everyone working there was no of Greek heritage. Ur I stayed and ordered because of the reviews I read and wanted to give them a try. Don't think I would go back tho.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
Amazing service and great attention to detail, fast and efficient and loved the interactions
google avatar

Emily X.

Yelp
Was walking around pike place looking to try something new and I was lured in by the delicious smell of fresh, hot greek food. The menu was simple enough and fries in a wrap? Yes please! Happy to say that the chicken yeero did not disappoint. Chicken was hot, flavorful, and juicy. Pita was warm and soft. Portion size was good (I shared it with my sister). Definitely dreaming of coming back the next time I'm in Seattle.
google avatar

Yuchen Z.

Yelp
Despite having a plethora of food choices at Pikes, we still often opt for the simple and delicious gyros at Mr. D's. What can I say? The gyros here never fail to impress. The meet is flavorful and delicious, the pita is warm and soft and fresh, the veggies are crisp, and the sauce the whole thing is smothered in is just icing on the cake (or gyro). It's fast, it's cheap, it's oh so good.
google avatar

Prag R.

Yelp
Fast service and a nice place to grab Greek food at Mr D's. Grabbed lunch here today, picked the Beef kababs and Chicken Pita sandwich. The service is fast and there's place to sit and enjoy the meal, in the heart of Pike Place.
google avatar

Emma L.

Yelp
Enjoyed the traditional lamb gyros. Quick service and overall great quality. The tzatziki sauce was fresh along with the vegetables. The lamb was cooked wonderfully with great seasoning. The sandwich is rolled up which makes it easier for walking around the market on the busy street. *there is no seating option directly by the cafe and truly good luck finding some unless you go behind the alley way by the public restrooms*
google avatar

Roy Y.

Yelp
Wifey and I had a lamb and a beef steak gyro and they were delicious! Also, sampled their original, pistachio and chocolate baklava
google avatar

Carolina R.

Yelp
Have been wanting to check out Mr.D's for awhile as every time I pass by there is always a line. I tried the Lamb Greek Style Yeero and it was good. I was just disappointed as the description said "Fries go inside the Yeero! Greek style is served with seasoned fries" and there was no fries in the yerro which was disappointing. I would come back again and try it but maybe make sure there are fries.
google avatar

Alex W.

Yelp
Mediterranean food is comparatively rare around me, so while i was at pike i jumped at the chance to get it. My gyro was delicious and i ended up being so inspired that I took the opportunity to learn to make my own tzatziki sauce! Absolutely would recommend when you're down there!
google avatar

Kath S.

Yelp
Passed by this place and decided to try it out and glad we did. Ordered Falafel Yeero with Tzatziki and Greek fries with Tzatziki. Both were delicious and tasted fresh. So amazed by the team work they have there. Only two people running the place but they managed it well. There was a line but the wait wasn't too bad.
google avatar

Ferdie M.

Yelp
It's not closed. But it's not good either. The hummus was liquidy and tasted more like tzatziki instead. In fact, they're chicken and beef gyros had too much tzatziki as well. It was very wet. In short, the flavor was bad and it was a mess to eat. EDIT: My credit card shows this purchase is from The Greek Yeero, so it looks like a new place with the old sign.
google avatar

Julie V.

Yelp
For quick bites, this was a great spot for greek food. We got the lamb greek style yeero ($11.50) and falafel yeero ($9.75). Both were good! The pita bread was soft and warm, paired well with the meat and toppings inside. Its shape was a little hard to eat but convenient for on the go.
google avatar

Huong L.

Yelp
We decided to go to Pike's place for dinner and since we passed by this place so often, we decided to try it out. We got the Greek style lamb yeero with an added side of Greek salad and a side of chicken. The portion was very generous and we spent less than $25 for it and was very full. I love that they packed the yeero in a way that you eat it with a fork so you don't get dirty. The pita was soft, there was tons of fillings and the meat was so tender. The only thing is that it was salty. Oh and it's Greek style, so there's fries in them. The side salad was and chicken was pretty standard. The chicken was also on the saltier side. The guy at the counter was super nice as well. Definitely a good place to grab lunch/dinner while exploring Pike's

Michael L.

Yelp
My daughter found a piece of glass in here chicken gyro. When I informed the counter that we found glass in our food, they were surprised, but didn't ask anything about what we had ordered and didn't appear to do anything about checking for any other potential pieces in the kitchen. They just looked shocked and continued to take food orders. Would not recommend!
google avatar

Siddhartha G.

Yelp
The Greek-style falafel pita here is fantastic, it's got a lot mixed in there but goes down really well. The spanakopita too is perhaps the crunchiest and crumbliest i've ever had, incredible. The disappointing aspect is the plastic fork provided in the pita. Yes, it's handy, but i'd rather they ask first if I need a bit of plastic in my food which'll end up god knows where, rather than assume. I tried returning it immediately but they asked me to chuck it instead, showing a callousness towards the environment.
google avatar

Teresa J.

Yelp
I love greek food and we were excited to try Mr. D's when we passed their store front and could smell the aroma. We ordered falafel and let me tell you... The best falafel I have had to date. They were extremely fresh, had a wonderful crunch to the outside with a soft inside, and the Greek flavor we all love. The hummus was also very fresh and had a great flavor. However, do not sleep on the Tzaziki. It was by far my favorite and really added to the flavor of the falafel. Delicious and well worth the stop here!
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
We were at Pike Place on the hunt for a small bite between breakfast & lunch but the line for Beecher's and Piroshky Piroshky was too long. There was no line for Mr. D's which might be a red flag for some but we decided to give it a shot anyways. We split a half order of the Yeero Greek Fries. It's seasoned fries topped with feta, tzatziki, and yeero meat. Oh my gosh, I was not expecting to be so impressed by the food. The fries were very well seasoned. The yeero meat was sliced thin, easy to eat, and was really tasty. I don't like yogurt so I wasn't expecting to like the tzatziki but I was actually trying to get some of it with each bite! Don't overlook this place if you're looking for something to eat by Pike Place. Bonus that they have tables in front of their storefront.

Yelp
Early on a Saturday morning, after a 5 mile run, my husband and I decided to stop here for breakfast. Now, I won't lie, we actually stopped for cookies first because that's Adulting at its finest, haha, but we quickly realized we were craving real food after our first few bites. Mr Ds was the first to open. I wasn't too sure about this place. I've walked past it many times, and I've never seen a line, soooo was it really good? My husband and I have this thing where we try somewhere new after our run every weekend in order to explore more of the city. So, we have this place a shot! The woman behind the counter was SO NICE! When I asked if I could get a Yeero without the bread she guided me over to the Greek salad. She said it had a lot more ingredients for only .50 cents more and the small was a pretty big size. So, I listened. Although a little hesitant because some Greek salads I've had have this very stiff lettuce to it that flings everywhere when you try to stab it with you fork. My second thought was: how portable is this salad? There's no where to sit? But hey, still giving it a chance. When we asked where we could sit the sweet woman behind the counter told us there was free seating for the public right behind her shop. Very helpful. Now for the food. WOW WOW WOW!!! Easily the best Greek salad I've ever had!! She loaded with with fresh meat that tasted phenomenal, and everything was fresh and packed into a perfect container. The dressing was spot on. The lettuce pieces weren't too tough and I think the warm meat wilted them just enough to make everything very easy to eat. AND she was right about it being big enough. I'm a pretty hefty eater and the one small filled me up. My husband even had to have a few bites to help me. This is definitely one of my go tos now at Pike. Outstanding!!! Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Kit G.

Yelp
Rating is for a Greek street restaurant. No fancy dining but the food is good and it was just what I was looking for. Grilled chicken kabobs very good. Quality pita and tziki. And one large Greek salad that is sometimes hard to come by. Wish the tomatoes were of the quality found in the market across the street, but I would have again. Pricing was reasonable and thought I was there mid day, there was a steady stream of locals and tourists.

Yelp
Mr. D's Greek Delicacies is a great place for a "yeero" in Pike Place Market. Let the smells from the fresh gyro meat guide you here. My friend and I came here for lunch and we enjoyed our food. I ordered an ultimate gyro, which came with greek fries inside and my friend had the chicken kebab on a pita with tzatziki sauce. For the ultimate gyro, you get a choice of the lamb or lamb and beef mix, and I went with the full on lamb, which was super yummy. I know some people don't like lamb for the game-y taste, but it didn't have that like that at all here. The lamb was super tender, and the tzatziki, tomato, lettuce and greek fries that came with made for a yummy lunch. Like many of the food spots at Pike Place Market, this really is a stall and has no seating at all. It's hard to eat a gyro on the go, while you're walking around, so I was glad they wrap the gyro up super tightly and even give you a fork. It made eating a lot easier until we found a seat. I would definitely get the gyro again from Mr. D's. It's one of the best options for one in downtown Seattle.
google avatar

Shanna R.

Yelp
Considering how often I'm in the Pike Place area I'm amazed it finally took me this long to try this place! First off, we could smell the gyro meat from down the block and as soon as we could... we knew where we were going. The food was AMAZING and the customer service even better. The tzaiki is the best I've had yet and I'm already planning on when I can go again because the falafel was to die for, crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Seriously can't wait to go again! Thanks for the great food
google avatar

Yelp
Fast, friendly and mainly delicious food! Highly recommend the place! The owner Mr. D is an absolute sweetheart!

Yelp
Ended up exploring Pike's Market around lunch time, and although we initially had other lunch plans we ended up here after everywhere was slammed. What an underrated gem! We ordered lamb gyros and their triple dip special with pita bread. Their pita was absolutely perfect - so fluffy and wonderful flavor. The hummus was on the bland side, but solid. Our gyros had excellent flavor, and I'm glad they give you a fork - these things are overflowing! All in all a great bite to eat.
google avatar

Janet L.

Yelp
I got a chicken yeero without onions, and my husband got a Greek-style yeero. They have some outdoor tables and chairs, and it wasn't raining/super cold today, so we got to eat outside, which was really nice! The chicken was delicious--well seasoned and high-quality breast meat, not gamey at all. The parsley, tomato slices, and lettuce were fresh, and the tzatziki sauce was the perfect balance between light and creamy for me. A lot of other places' tzatziki is flavorless/watery, but I really liked Mr. D's, especially in combination with the super flavorful chicken. The pita was also perfect, my favorite kind, the thicker, chewy kind. I was impressed that the yeero came rolled into a wax paper cone that didn't leak even when sauce collected at the bottom tip. The yeero also came with a fork that helped my hands stay clean even though the yeero was overflowing with fillings. :-) Very fresh food in good portions at extremely reasonable prices, and fast service. We're definitely coming back!

Yelp
Another awesome place in Pike Place Market area!! Our usual here is the Falafel Yeero - it's vegetarian, has fresh falafels, veggies and couple of awesome sauces!
