First time dining in here . It was great. I ordered some dumplings to start off as appetizers. Their dumplings are variety with different fillings. Even better is I can choose to steam or pan fried the dumplings. So I did both for the dumplings I ordered . They didn’t let me down. The dumplings tasted so good and a bit juicy . Every bite of the dumplings, I can tell they use fresh ingredients to make of. For entree. I ordered the dry breaded chicken mixed with dry chili in wok-fried . That one was pretty good and flavorful. It was great eating it with rice . I wish could I have larger stomach. So I could try out all the stuff on the menu. But I will definitely go back and eat there again .

The dumplings were great, but the other dishes not so much. Ordered the pork belly (not pictured) and the vegetable to meat ratio was pretty high. I felt like it did not look like the picture out front. Overall the service was quick and price was a good price. But next time I would say just get the dumplings and don't stray on the menu.

Exactly what we needed. After a long cold day. Warm super tasty dumplings / dimsum. Most of the things that we got was amazing. Being vegetarian they had plenty of options. Our favorite was steamed Eight treasure dumpling. The lo mein noodles was little bland. But nothing can’t be fixed with little chilli oil.. My friend ordered orange chicken and she loved it.. The staff was friendly and helped us pick out what we needed. And accommodated our requests. There is plenty of street parking

** Update** quality has been lacking the past 3 visits. Service has been rude and when I ask for suggestions I’ve been brushed off. If you can’t recommend anything on your menu, maybe that’s a sign? My recent purchases: Dumplings have been dry and have an off taste and smell. The lo mein noodles on my most recent visit tasted like cardboard, there was very little sauce and the beef was dry and chewy. One order was for general tso chicken and I received Kung pao chicken. I Was already home before I noticed the mix up. Nonetheless, it was chocked full of whole peanuts. WAY too many. The chicken was tiny and chewy. I ended up pouring it into a bowl and picking out half the peanuts just to make it edible. Even so, I only was able to down half. I’m hoping they pick out some more quality meat, it would go a long way. I work in the area so I was excited for a new lunch spot, but sadly I won’t be back unless I’m starving and the other options in the area are closed. ☹️ Great Chinese spot in the area! Simple to order and menu was short enough that I felt every dish would be prepared well. I was a little disappointed with the size of the dumplings and they only came with a tiny cup of sauce. The lo mein was fabulous! Pineapple fried rice could use a bit more flavor, and the chicken in it was a tad bland and chewy. Overall great though! Will be back.

Google
The scallion pancake was perfect. Kinda on the small side, but very reasonably priced @$4. Ordered the chicken& shrimp fried dumplings and lamb with coriander/cilantro steamed. The texture of the fried was spot on. The lamb was very ... Lamby. So you better looove lamb. We dipped them in a soy sauce and vinegar combo that complemented both types well.

Google
The orders are set for 16 dumplings, 4 egg rolls, etc. I just wanted to (pay to) sample a couple of dumplings and spring rolls, but couldn't purchase a smaller quantity. The cashier girl was friendly, however the cook was aggravated by the fact that I was on a rush. The spring rolls were very greasy and tasteless. There are better options just around the corner. No wonder the place was completely empty at lunchtime.

A hidden gem in Lincoln Park. Food was delicious and made with fresh ingredients. Look forward to going back to try other flavors and dishes on the menu!

Yelp
All the food at China Wok is sensational. Last night we had Cantonese chicken soup with noodles and wonton, best I've ever had. Pork egg, foo, young and gravy also the best I've ever had. Chicken chop Suey, same ....best I've had. My son had lamb with Cumin, which was spicy yet great. The kitchen doesn't skim, lots of lamb. And General Tso's chicken with peanuts and vegetables. For my wife. Everything was an A grade. Maybe the egg rolls would be a B. Not the best I've had. We live nearby and I am very glad this place is in our neighborhood.

Diane W.

Yelp
Mu shu pork---hard to find any pork. It's largely onion with a bit of cabbage and carrot.

Richard C.

Yelp
The best sweet and sour chicken I've had. Tender chunks of crispy white meat chicken, red and green bell pepper, fresh carrot and chunks of sweet pineapple all tossed in a honey sauce. Delicious and part of the affordable lunch special.

Kayla K.

Yelp
The best sesame chicken and soup dumplings in Lincoln Park. The service is amazing, the employees are so kind. I've always taken my food to go but it's super clean and a nice vibe inside, I would recommend.

Christopher H.

Yelp
Great addition to the neighborhood. High quality ingredients that are cooked well. Portions are good size and prices are reasonable. It's my new favorite American Chinese spot in the city.

Ashley R.

Yelp
Order this to go sometimes and it is always so good! They give huge portion sizes, definitely worth the price! My go to Chinese place in Lincoln park.

David S.

Yelp
I had an excellent and large ja jang mien. A korean spaghetti. Full of shrimp and zucchini. Enough for 3 people. Waiter Tom was very helpful and said he's Thai. So mixed Asian food. Also had a smoothie which was well made and large. Mostly foursome booth But one seri of small tables for a group.

Debra F.

Yelp
So this restaurant replaced Mr Dumpling. The menu is very extensive covering Thai, Korean and Chinese dishes. They didn't change the decor much apart from moving some furniture around. It's not meant for big parties as the tables are mainly booths. They added dim sum to the menu and the shrimp dumplings are great. Give the soup dumplings a miss. No soup in the dumplings. The portions are extremely generous. The wonton noodle soup could easily feed 2-3 people and that goes for the pork and century egg congee too. Both were very tasty especially the congee. . The lady serving us was very sweet and attentive. Definitely worth trying

Teresa G.

Yelp
Delivery took over two hours. Food was very bland and not hot. Was really excited to order from here based on all of the good reviewed, but we will not be ordering from here again.

Amanda C.

Yelp
This is the Chinese restaurant of my dreams....I have been waiting for a killer place and China Wok did not disappoint. The portions are generous the prices are fair the food is delicious and the service is attentive and friendly. We had crab wontons, the black pepper lamb, general Taos chicken and the fried beef noodles everything was top notch and I would re order this exact meal again. I wish I took photos before we dug in but here's the aftermath. Tom was our waiter and he was so nice and wonderful - we met the owner she is sweetheart we cannot wait to become regulars.

Brianna S.

Yelp
I no longer need to go to china town to get great chinese food! this food is great, simple, and super fresh! I even think their orange chicken is fresh and breaded in house. The shrimp was amazing and the prices are super affordable. I will mostly be back because not only is the food good, the service is wonderful and they are so kind!

Anna R.

Yelp
Very good website was easy to order. Delivered on time. Huge portions of hot and delicious food. Will use again.

Chloe B.

Yelp
The food here is INCREDIBLE-- seriously some of the best Chinese cuisine I've found in Chicago. I just moved here from California a couple months ago and haven't been able to find anything even close to California's Chinese food until now. Don't be deterred by the lack of reviews. This is probably one of the better restaurants in Chicago.

Brandon T.

Yelp
The food was super delicious and fresh. Everything came out so fast and our server was so nice and attentive. We ordered the general tso tofu, garlic string beans, egg rolls, and scallion pancakes.

Lauren K.

Yelp
This is truly a hidden gem in Lincoln Park! The food was amazing and came out in perfect timing. We were waiting just the right amount of time. Our server was incredibly kind. The store itself was cute; filled with adorable decor and good lighting. The pricing was affordable as well!

Reviewer Numero Uno N.

Yelp
Good food, amazing service. Some dishes are great, some are good. They're a great addition to the neighborhood and a huge upgrade from the chinese place before at the same location. Very friendly staff makes the experience great. They've also carefully decorated the interior nicely.

Emil O.

Yelp
Always a dependable option for delivery. My favorite is the moo shu pork - the only place that gives you plenty of pancakes - Yumm! Their dimsum selection is also really good!

Bobs F.

Yelp
I have eaten at China wok 5 or so times. I also have gotten it delivered. I think this last experience made me never want to come back. The service is great. But the food just isn't there quality wise. I've tried multiple different dishes each time I've gone, and I honestly can't say I've found one that makes me feel content when I eat it. It's either too sweet, too savory, too greasy, or too much onion. The prices are reasonable, but I can't keep coming here for food that makes me feel gross when I eat it and doesn't taste good. It's barely a step above Panda Express in quality. The portions are gigantic, and for that I do appreciate it. But taste is more important than anything. Still looking for reasonably priced Chinese that tastes good in Chicago.

Ashen S.

Yelp
Generous Portions, comes out hot and fresh, good amounts of meat. Server is attentive. We got the beef ho fun, black bean fish, and jiajiang mien. The other two dishes were good, but I was flabbergasted by the jiajiang mien. It was neither Korean nor Beijing style. It was as if the recipe was made by someone who has only read what the dish contains, made it, decided they didn't like it, and added shrimp for some reason. I was confused. It tasted ok otherwise, but only as something Other than jiajiang mien. Befuddled

Aileen S.

Yelp
Crab rangoon and entrees were delicious! Good filling to fry ratio! Service was wonderful and the tea was perfect for a cold day. Very cozy inside as well!

Jason R.

Yelp
Delivery has been great. The food arrives hot and everyone has been kind. I've tried many of their basics like potstickers, dry chili chicken, fried rice, orange chicken and so on which have been the best in the neighborhood. I appreciate the location staying as is which looks nice. I'll definitely be back.

Bryan W.

Yelp
Food was just horrible. Service was middling. The General Tso's Chicken was covered in gobs of grossly sweet thick sauce. It was just pure melted sugar. When asked how my meal was, I was honest and said frankly, it's disgusting. She agreed that she herself doesn't like it this sweet. She went back to tell the owners/manager who told her to say to me next time that I should tell them sooner. Trust me, there won't be a next time. (Even the crab rangoon tasted sweet.)

Shelley W.

Yelp
This is great Chinese food. Took some time to get my to go order but they were fairly busy. It was so worth the wait. I think China Wok is going to do very well in Lincoln Park!

Emilee P.

Yelp
might be the best chinese food i've ever had the sesame sauce is absolute fire and so is the kung pao

Don Sahan K.

Yelp
Some of the best Chinese food I've had in a while! Absolutely amazing. And I've travelled the world, Asia mostly.

Paul L.

Yelp
Food was very good, service was good, portions were generous. They are lacking some basic things I'd expect in a sit down restaurant - no chopstick "training wheels" for the kids, paper napkins. Perhaps it's catering to the immediate surroundings. Overall the reason I give 3 stars is the restaurant charges a 20% - after tax - service charge. Service charges, unlike tips, do not necessarily go to wait staff. Further, it's probably illegal for them to charge a service charge on tax ... pulled down what would otherwise have been an excellent experience.

Conor J.

Yelp
Great spot to add into your eating-out mix. Walk in, seat yourself in a booth under a tv. The music will radiate down to make you feel both relaxed and on the streets of China. Order some crab rangoons and peruse an extensive easy to navigate menu. Combo options available when you can't pick your meat choice. Fair prices and great staff.

Luka E.

Yelp
Great little spot. Quiet, super friendly service, and good food with huge portions. Crab Rangoon's were 10/10. Recommend if looking for a good Chinese restaurant!

Haley J.

Yelp
I have been twice and had delivery and takeout. This place is great. The food has insanely good flavor, not the typical run of the mill expected Chinese food flavor either. Like I would say at least 10x better than what I typically expect. The sesame chicken is an easy testament to this. Also the chicken pieces are all pretty small which I know some people have a strong preference for. The dumplings are also great. Prices might be slightly high, but it's a small business and they are right on Clark street. I can't imagine it's cheap. I do wish the dumplings came in half orders. The crab Rangoon was also unexpectedly good. As someone on the edge of liking and not liking crab Rangoon's, I might get these every time now. They have peppers in them which add to the flavor making it a truly awesome bite. I highly recommend this place and it may be my new favorite after trying MANY Chinese restaurants. I can't wait to try more from their menu. Yum!!!

Yelp
Latest in a small group of local China Woks, this spot is a godsend for Fullerton-ish Lincoln Parkers hungry for better options than we've had. (It replaced short-lived "Mr. Dumpling," so we're talking major upgrade here.) The food, leaning toward spicy (your option, on degree), is sophisticated stuff -- the cumin lamb (example) is Lao Sze Chuan-complex -- and is as exciting as the menu is long. The chock-full-of-stuff hot&sour soup is a worthy indicator. Decor is merely functional, and that's OK. Three visits so far, no disappointments and eager for more.

Gabriela R.

Yelp
Finally a great Chinese restaurant in this area! We ordered the chicken fried rice, crab Rangoon, bbq ribs and sweet and sour chicken. Everything was spot on, delicious and nice portions. The service and ambiance was amazing. Will absolutely revisit.

Jess W.

Yelp
Came in for lunch and ordered the mushu tofu, hot & sour soup, and pan-fried vegetables dumplings. The food was delicious and made me feel nostalgic for the home cooked meals of my childhood. The server was prompt and kind and was thoughtful to ask whether I ate eggs after I told her I was vegetarian. I am excited to come back and try more from their menu

Samantha T.

Yelp
Great food outside of Chinatown! The spice level was just my taste and I love to eat spicy. I did take out because I was in a rush but I definitely would do a dine in if I had the time. Staff was courteous when I came to order and pick up. Would definitely go again! Food wasn't overly greasy and had lots of flavor

Dolly W.

Yelp
This place just opened at the former Mr Dumpling. Very flavorful food with a wide range of items. The eggplant was very tasty and so was the the kung pao fish. The noodles with veggie were very light on veggies and mainly noodles, though they were tasty. Great fortune cookies.
