"Build-your-own pho, garlic noodles, rice bowls, salad and banh mi are on the menu at Mr. East Kitchen, a new fast-casual Vietnamese spot in SoMa at 276 Fifth Street. In the mornings, Mr. East operates more like a standard American cafe with an espresso bar and avocado toast in a minimalist space full of pale wood. And, yes, there’s boba." - Janelle Bitker

The food is so creative with great taste! The menu almost includes all types of foods from south east Asia and mix with western style. I love the Thai French toast, it comes with delicious Thai milk tea dipping sauce. Reservation on Google map directly is convenient. Staff in the restaurant very friendly and efficient. Strong recommend!

Google
Cutest, little aesthetic cafe, with modern and fun Asian fusion food. The food was so incredibly delicious, affordable, and had so many options. The only part I didn't like, was that I couldn't order everything! The interior was so cute, and the staff was so fast and so lovely to talk to. I highly recommend it!!

A friend had recommended I come here for brunch. The wait to get seated wasn’t too bad - a few minutes at the most. I was pleasantly surprised that the menu was Thai fusion and was torn between a handful of dishes. We ended up ordering: Vietnamese Dalgona coffee, Tom Yum Omelette, and Vegetarian Steak. The Tom Yum omelette had all the delicious notes a tom yum soup would have, including the spice. This does have a kick but accentuates the dish rather than being painfully spicy. The candied spicy bacon that topped the omelette was sweet and spicy, definitely a delicious treat. The Vegetarian Steak had umami taste and well balanced, especially with the sunny side egg. Both dishes had baguette slices topped with minced garlic and cheese shavings, diced potatoes, and a little salad. The Vietnamese coffee wasn’t too sweet, and there are non-dairy options available as well. Overall, would come back again.

It's one of the best Pad Thai I have tasted. We were looking for food near our hotel, and the reviews are good. So we tried, and we weren't disappointed. The staff and the owner are friendly and accommodating. Although we only we ate what we selected and they are very good. The place is not big. To my estimates, it sits less than 50 people. Plan ahead if you decide to eat in this place.

Google
Pretty good Thai-American brunch spot. I visited it on a Sunday noon and it was busy but still had high stools available. The menu is large so it’s easy to find what to eat either you are in mood for sweet or savory food. I really loved their rich Tom Yum soup with crispy chicken and my husband found Pad Thai Shrimp delicious. The service was friendly and fast, and people kept coming till the end of their brunch hours so I can assume that this place is pretty popular among those who know about it. Glad that we discovered this Thai spot in our neighborhood.

This is a very nice spot and chill atmosphere. The service was amazing and the food was well! We will be coming here again to try more for sure and especially for the Vietnamese Dalgona Coffee its a must try

I arrived for lunch, dining-in as a solo diner. They feel very understaffed. It's just a huge crowd of Doordashers (all clad in motorcycle helmets, swarming by the order counter) and people doing takeout. I was the only dine-in. There's plenty of tables and interior seating, but most of the tables weren't cleared out at all while I was there, and table service was non-existent. They did eventually start clearing out the tables, but close to the end of when I had finished eating (1pm). With the complete lack of service, I made a mistake dining in. It's probably why everyone does takeout. The atmosphere isn't great. Dirty dishes everywhere and it's a lot of yelling to the delivery drivers on which orders are ready. The food has good portion sizes. I got the shaking beef and it was good. The beef was tender and flavorful. I would order from here again, but next time via delivery instead of dining in.

Yelp
We ended our SF anniversary weekend with breakfast at Mr. East Kitchen. This small diner has a fusion menu with a tasty twist on American classics, like pandan waffles with a side of Thai tea syrup and the Saigon Steak breakfast. Of course, I had to have a Thai tea latte to accompany my waffles. Yum! Our waiter was friendly and attentive and took great care to make sure we had everything we needed for a satisfying meal from start to finish. If you find yourself in San Francisco, I definitely recommend this place for a great breakfast with a twist.

Yelp
Came here last weekend for brunch with some friends. We made a reservation but were able to be seated earlier, which was nice of the hosts! We were a party of 5. Parking is street and/or structure parking (we parked by the YB parking lot across from Bloomingdale's for $5/hr). Easily accessible by public transit (steps away from Powell Street station). I ordered a Lychee mimosa as my main beverage for brunch. It was a tad sweet, mostly from the sugar syrup from canned lychees. Still tasty and refreshing though. For my main, I had the shrimp benedict, which was very delicious. Eggs were perfectly poached, sufficient amount of shrimps, accompanied by a nice curry sauce instead of your typical hollandaise sauce. Portions were very big! I had it accompanied with a side of seasonal fruit (which the host joked around saying that the seasonal fruit selection hasn't changed in years... haha). I enjoyed the fruits, specifically the blueberries which were super sweet! Our group also shared the Thai tea French toast, which was a nice little sweet treat to share for everyone. Overall, a solid Asian-inspired brunch option in SF. Hope to be back again!

Yelp
I love Asian fusion brunch spots and was so excited to try this spot! I got the chicken waffle which was a pandan waffle with fried chicken on top. It came with syrup and cream on the side, and a huge serving of butter on top, which I had to remove. The chicken fried very nicely and was still juicy inside, but could have been a bit more unique flavor wise in my opinion, and I wish that the pandan taste in the waffle had been a bit stronger. I'd definitely make a reservation if you're planning on coming here on a weekend- I made a reservation for 2 at noon on a Saturday, and we still had to wait ~10 min for our table. Restaurant is quite noisy and bustling inside and isn't as peaceful of a brunch ambiance as other spots, but had an enjoyable meal here nonetheless!

Helen L.

Yelp
I see why it is so popular. Great service. Thank you Tran. Inside joke "you know what the doctor say?" I had the salmon Benedict with curry hollandaise sauce. Add$1 for fruit. I got the salad instead and they have the nicer greens. Dressing was just right. Not too much and just enough over the greens. Curry sauce had a tiny kick. The potatoes were done perfectly, cubed, crunchy outside and soft inside. None were burnt and not greasy. Perfect runny eggs. The muffin was soggy. Loved the spinach, cooked. Salmon had skin which is the best part. Good portion of salmon. Was a tad overcooked. My eating mates loved their food too. Salmon curry with brown rice. Morning crispy chicken salad. Limeade fizz. Lychee jasmine tea. We love their food. Yes, it is pretty tight space but everyone was enjoying their food and conversation.

Yelp
I came here for a brunch on Saturday and it was packed! Luckily my friend made a reservation so we were seated immediately. We shared 2 items: Chicken Waffle ($17.00) +Fried chicken was crispy and juicy +Homemade Pandan Waffle had a crisp exterior and fluffy interior with a hint of pandan flavor +Huge portion: We received a drumstick and a thigh, and they were quite large. +Orchid was a nice touch -Fried chicken didn't have a lot of flavor. -Apple Mustard tasted like honey mustard: Couldn't taste any notes of apple. -Homemade Syrup tasted like maple syrup. -The scoop of butter was placed directly on the waffle instead of in a dish on the side like the other condiments. Spicy Bacon Benedict w/fried potatoes & salad ($19.00) +Bacon was crispy, savory, and sweet: My friend said it reminded her of Millionaire Bacon, and I agreed. +Eggs were perfectly poached. +Fried potatoes were crispy. +Salad was fresh and a great palate cleanser: It came with kale, spinach, and sliced grape tomatoes, radishes, and radicchio. +Edible floral petals were a nice touch. +Huge portion +Not too spicy (however, if you prefer spicy food you may be disappointed) *Verdict: We were satisfied with the food and it's definitely one of the more inexpensive brunch options in the city. However, I'm not sure if I'd come back because the tables were very close to each other, so it felt cramped. In addition, it was very noisy inside so it was hard to catch up with my friend. There was a couple sitting next to me and it seemed like they had to shout across the table. If I were to come back, I would probably come on a weekday.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. The staff is incredibly friendly and the food is extremely delicious. I highly recommend making a reservation and ensuring your party is on. They have street parking available. The restaurant overall is relatively clean with interesting decor.

Yelp
I've had this spot saved on my list for a while now and I'm so glad I finally got to try it! I made a reservation easily and my friends and I got seated right away. We ordered the lychee mimosa to share and there was actually a lot in the pitcher for $30, very worth it! Also got the Thai tea french toast and it was a crowd favorite because it might've been the best french toast we've ever had. I got the garlic noodle bowl with pork and the portion was huge but also very flavorful. My friends all enjoyed their dishes as well and we definitely plan on coming back.

Yelp
Went a few months ago with cousins for brunch. Thai tea French toast was unique! I e never seen that on a menu before. Also ordered Viet coffee which was nice and strong. In all honesty, the toast itself could have been stronger flavored, most of the Thai tea flavoring was just from the sauce it came with. Plating is cute and colorful. Would love to come back and try their other foods like the Tom yum omelette. Make sure to grab reservations if you go for weekend brunch! Or else be stuck waiting out in the cold/heat.

Yelp
Came here for brunch on Saturday with my bf. We originally had a 12:15 reservation but there was a parade on market street that delayed us 20-30 minutes to get to the other side of market street + time it took to find parking. We were going to opt for the 5th street & mission garage like other reviews said but luckily found parking on the street right around the corner on Folsom. We called ahead to tell them we'd be late and they were very understanding. The tables are small so very cozy inside/close to other tables. I got the Tom Yum Omelette and my bf got the Saigon Steak. Tom Yum Omelette 4/5- the flavors of the Tom yum were very fragrant and present, very much so that it was a bit overbearing/almost too salty as you ate more and more. It was delicious but I found myself looking for a carb item to balance it out. It did come with two small baguettes with garlic butter on top which was nice and the potatoes were bite sized. The salad helped to balance out the saltiness a bit. Saigon Steak 4/5 - this one also packed a punch but was really delicious. The meat was tender although some pieces were hard to swallow down. The grilled onions were good to offset the texture and added some crunch to it. Overall, this is def a very savory/heart Thai fusion brunch place. We'd come again but maybe with friends to share other items as they have so many other options we wanted to try

Yelp
I came here for the first time and it was good! For drinks, I tried their Thai Milk Tea and the Vietnamese Dalgona Coffee. The Thai milk tea was pretty standard and definitely satisfied my craving for it. Their Vietnamese dalgona coffee could've been stronger, it tasted more like an average dalgona iced coffee. For food, I got the Tom Yum Omelette and it was tasty! The omelette had some spiciness to it, which I enjoyed. I loved the bite sized potatoes on the side and the salad to balance the meal. I made reservations since I came with a party of 5 on a Sunday morning. Reservations were easy to get. This place did seem to get quite busy when we left around noon.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with a friend on a Sunday noon and didn't have to wait too long to be seated. The interior is small, but there's plenty of seating inside and the decor is very classy with the plants and greenery. It took a few tries to get someone to come take our order. I ordered the Fried Chicken and Pandan Waffle and Ice Butterfly Lychee Fizz. My friend got the Vegan Sandwich. Our food took a while to get to us (around 20 minutes). Fried Chicken and Pandan Waffle: 5/5, I really liked the apple mustard for my chicken, and the homemade syrup was great too. The chicken was crispy yet tender, and the waffle was nice and fluffy. Good portions! Ice Butterfly Lychee Fizz: 5/5, love the touch of the two lychee fruits as a topping. The drink was a beautiful purple color. Definitely a drink on the sweeter side. Vegan Sandwich: 2/5, it was fairly flavorless and didn't really come together as a "sandwich." The hash browns felt like they were heated up from frozen patties, and it felt like it needed a sauce or something to add moisture and flavor to it. The side fruit was good quality. Overall, had a good time catching up with my friend but would order other things on the menu instead of the Vegan Sandwich, which is unfortunate since there are only so many vegan things on the menu in the first place. I would be interested in trying more of the savory things on the menu next time like the Tom Yum Omelette!

Austin Z.

Yelp
Came here just for a quick coffee stop -- and honestly, I found it to be quite impressive given the amount of food they offered. (This is in hopes that I will come back again and actually try their food forreals next time). Service was welcome to the public especially to us. The latte I got had a good balance of whole milk and coffee, and sweetness was exactly what I had ordered -- less sweet for the win! Love the ambiance too. Though it is next to abandoned buildings, I think that this restaurant has a potential to expand and encourage other businesses to open similar kinds of businesses too.

Nicole L.

Yelp
Visited on a Thursday night for dinner. We were greeted and told that we could sit anywhere. The restaurant is decently spacious and neither too busy nor empty when we arrived. Some people came in and out of the restaurant to pick up orders. The menu is pretty extensive and featured many items that I wanted to try. I decided on the Shaking Beef dish and my friend tried the Drunken Noodles without meat. The shaking beef was soft and tender. However, I thought that the sauce was a little saltier than I preferred. Still, the rice and veggies helped balance out the flavors. Next time, I would try their brunch menu and coffee/boba drinks since they are on Yelp's Top 10 for brunch in the country!

Kathleen S.

Yelp
I had an amazing experience here! The banana flavor french toast was soft and tasted natural. I'm not a big fan of banana flavor but I would order this again! The syrup had less banana flavor in my opinion, but still good and sweet. I'd highly recommend the bacon Benedict too. Very filling too. We enjoyed service with the waiters. They were extra polite and friendly. They created a friendly environment for us!

Yelp
This place is a gem for a laid-back brunch hangout! The interior is super cute, clean, and modern - a vibe I absolutely love. Plus, they have a huge menu with options for both sweet and savory cravings. But the real star of the show was the service. It was outstanding! They were patient with us while we ordered, constantly checked in to see how everything was, and genuinely cared about our experience. I ordered the Tom Yum Omelette, but it was a bit too salty for me. No problem! They immediately remade it, and the second one was absolutely delicious (5/5 stars!). Here's a breakdown of what we tried: - Tom Yum Omelette (5/5): The flavors of Tom Yum blended perfectly with the juicy omelette and bacon. Each bite was a burst of deliciousness! - Tom Yum Soup (5/5): This creamy soup was exactly what I needed. Slightly on the salty side, but still incredibly satisfying. - Lychee Soda (5/5): This drink lived up to its name, pure refreshment with a delightful lychee flavor. Definitely a happiness drink! Based on the amazing service and delicious food (with a minor hiccup that was handled perfectly), I'll definitely be back to try more items from their extensive menu!

Yelp
Great service and food was delicious. Had the garlic noodles with honey pork and it hit the spot and large portion size.

Yelp
In a sea of ostentatious brunch spots, Mr East stands out as the option that provides it all without breaking the bank. You get yummy food that come in good portions, great service and a beautiful minimalistic setting for far less than any other locale in the city. I started off with the fruit tea, which was definitely fresh and refreshing. I only took a sip of the coffee, which was standard fare. I'd be curious to try their dalgona Vietnamese coffee! My friend and I shared two options. The Tom yum omelette was amazing. Super flavorful, juicy, lots of shrimp. I really enjoyed everything in it. We got garlic bread, garlic fries and salad with it and yummyyy. The sriracha bacon was more sweet, like honey bacon, but still very good. Next, we got the pandan waffle with fried chicken. I personally like a strong pandan flavor, but I figured that it was light so anyone can try it. The fried chicken was crunchy and juicy. I wasn't a huge fan of the mustard but I'm not a huge fan of mustards in general. Best of all, even after eating all this, I didn't feel disgusting. I truly believe Mr East does take their time to curate healthy foods and that's why we still felt great to tackle the day! Overall, a great casual spot for affordable fusion eats and generous portions.

Nikki M.

Yelp
Really enjoyed Mr. East side! The food itself was great. The noodle bowl was my personal favorite. It was very fresh and delicious! The jalepenos had a good kick to them in it. The Thai tea French toast was good! It was pretty similar to Thai tea roti if you have ever had. The drinks were good. My personal favorite was the lychee fizz. Came on the hottest day this summer so drinks were refreshing but the place was a little warm lol! Service was good, very kind. This is apparently owned by the same owner as spork which is closed most days, so glad I found this place!

Anita P.

Yelp
The bahn mi was a little dry, I wish they had used more sauce. The portions are huge though I was fully stuffed from my meal. The service is quick as well and they had plenty of seating.

Abby O.

Yelp
Delicious basil chicken. Not oily at all, which I loved. The sunny-side-up egg on top was a nice touch. Loved that it came with complimentary steamed rice (since some places charge extra for that), kale, and bok choy - healthy and tasty. Flavors were on point, and the portion size was satisfying.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Came here over the weekend (Sunday) to celebrate a birthday, and we had a group of 6 so it was hard to find a reservation in the area. We decided to drive over to Mr. East and the parking situation was not bad at all. They also had plenty of reservation times so definitely brownie points for that! The restaurant has a good amount of seating and we were able to comfortably sit at a table for 8. We ordered: Thai French Toast Crispy Chicken Fried Rice Tom Yum Omlette Mr. East Salad Chicken Waffle My favorite was the Crispy Chicken Fried Rice - the chicken was super crispy but wasn't dry! The Tom Yum omlette was a close second for me too - good flavor, some of the larger chunks of shrimp were a little dry but still good. The Thai French Toast was good, fluffy..not a ton of Thai tea flavor except for in the sauce, but still a solid choice for those who can't have brunch without carbssss!! Service was SO AMAZING! they switched the music to happy birthday for the entire restaurant so they could surprise my friend with fried banana and ice cream. Seriously...so frickin nice of them. 10/10 would recommend!!

Yelp
Was looking all over Yelp to find a brunch place with some friends and actually noticed a lot of Thai fusion brunch spots. Found Mr. East Kitchen and noticed that the menu items were quite cheap around $15-20 in SOMA. You literally can't find these price anywhere, so we decided to come try it out. I made a reservation, and once we got there at 12pm on a Sunday, thinking it would be jam packed. The place was decorated pretty modern with a light up sign against the wall. There were still 2-3 tables open, so the waiter found us a table easily. He was super sweet! I tried the Saigon Steak and instead of the garlic bread, I subbed in fruit. Totally worth it! My friends got the Tom Yum omelette and we more than enjoyed our food. It was so flavorful like Thai foods usually do, and the quantity was quite large. The salad was light. I'm not sure what dressing they used but it was delicious. Totally coming here again. So surprised not more people know about this place!

Angela W.

Yelp
Came for brunch on a random Sunday with a group of 4 at 12. We did not have a reservation, but they managed to get us seated within 10 minutes inside. Very friendly service throughout. It looks like this is a family-owned business as I saw a couple teenagers working. I'm a sucker for a thai-fusion menu. I was actually hoping for more fusion items but there was really only two: tom yum omelette and thai tea french toast. To eat, I got the tom yum noodle soup with fried chicken and we also shared the thai tea french toast as a table. The food came out in weird timing. My dish and my friends came out a good 5 minutes before our other dishes so I was just staring at my food in hunger while waiting. Finally the food all came and it was yummy. I do wish there was a heavier tom yum flavor in the soup but it was still delicious. The fried chicken was perfection. The breading was done very well. The thai tea french toast was not too sweet (the highest compliment!!) and the perfect way to end the meal. If I was in the neighborhood, I would come back!

Karen W.

Yelp
I got together with friends for lunch/brunch here and we made reservations for our party of 7. The place is small located on 5th Street near Folsom. It is best if you park in the Mission Street parking garage as parking can be difficult. The food and service are great. We ordered the Saigon Steak, Tom Yum Soup Noodles, Chicken Fried Rice, Combo Waffle with fruit and eggs, Chicken and Waffle, and I order the Chicken and Waffle with siracha bacon and eggs. The food came out piping hot and we enjoyed our meals! Chicken was moist and tender. My friends also ordered the two of the lychee drinks and enjoyed every sip.

Sally Y.

Yelp
Excited to come here as Mr. East lists at No. 10 on Yelp's best brunch in the country, we made reservations and were seated right away on a Sunday morning. Service was exceptionally friendly in this lively well lit restaurant with simple diner seating and wall decorations. (The waiter's worth the 25% suggested tip when it's time to tap out.) We ordered Thai Tea French Toast 4/5, Steak Benedict 4/5, Pandan waffle with Fried Chicken 3/5, and Hot Wings with Garlic Fries 4/5. The portions are generous, fruit on the side were fresh. The stars were the pandan waffles and garlic fries. The fried chicken meat did not taste juicy fresh; it had a bit of funky taste. The spicy chicken wings were neither crispy nor spicy. The drinks we ordered, Orange Passionfruit Breeze and Thai Lime Tea were both refreshingly good. Price here is reasonable for SF.

Hailey T.

Yelp
It's a cute, small restaurant, but it also gives very much a Pho restaurant type of feel at the same time. I came here to have breakfast, so it wasn't too busy thankfully. However, the service was a bit slow and took a while for them to take my order and give waters. I will say though, that the food was delicious and the portions were very generous!

Tria X.

Yelp
Walked in and got a seat for 2 right away. The service is pretty slow considering 3 servers and half the restaurant was full. Food was ok, nothing great to take home. The restaurant was clean but slightly crowded. I recommend it if you want something basic with a little presentation. Maybe we got the wrong food to try but even if so, wasn't something to take home.

Alex D.

Yelp
The food and coffee's were amazing, and the service was kind and quick. Thank you for the delicious meal!

jen t.

Yelp
Great yummy a breakfast with an asian twist. The staff is very nice and it's a sit down and order kind of place. The price is very reasonable for being in San Francisco and it has a very cute and inspo worthy food and place. They have this pandan and chicken waffle that was amazing and super unique. That one and the Thai tea French toast was amazing. I DEF RECOMMEND THOSE IF YOU COME! The mango sticky rice is also amazing and a must.

Lois L.

Yelp
Fast service, casual dining with good food. The Tom yum omelette was unique with a little kick to it and the fried rice chicken was breaded just right.

PaHoua L.

Yelp
Interesting food options that accommodate someone wanting fries as well as a rice dish. My 6-year old and I had lunch here before visiting the Children's Creativity Museum a few blocks away. We were promptly seated along the windows and had impeccable timing because shortly after, there was a small line waiting for seating. I ordered fries and chicken wings and basil chicken. My 6-year old was happy to eat both dishes, and I ended up packing up leftover fries and chicken wings while we finished the basil chicken and rice. The fries were tasty and crispy, but could have used more garlic. The basil chicken was flavorful and the rice and egg were perfect. The serving sizes seemed appropriate as I wasn't hungry or overstuffed. The service was friendly and but also gave me time to enjoy my meal and checked in just enough without making me feel like I was being monitored. The interior of the restaurant is clean and well decorated. The large windows let in a lot of light. There are multiple tables that can be moved together to accommodate a larger group, and there was a party of maybe 8-10 congregating in one area. Overall the sitting area is pretty small, so I imagine that a larger party would probably have to call in advance. Lastly, the bathroom was also clean. I would love to eat here again and try more items from the menu.

Jenn M.

Yelp
Mr. East Kitchen offers a minimalistic dining space. Though we were promptly seated, we waited over 30min for our food. Despite this, the Pandan Waffle was yummy and served with a generous serving of fresh fruits, two eggs, and a sausage, making for a satisfying portion. The Tom Yum Omelet was also very good. The sriracha bacon on the Tom Uim Omelet doesn't taste much like sriracha, instead, it tasted like honey-glazed bacon. We swapped the potatoes and the side for French fries and hash browns, and I'll say everything on the plates are delicious. They don't assign specific server for each table, the attentive staff regularly checked in on patrons, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. In conclusion, while the wait may test patience, Mr. East Kitchen delivers on taste and attentive service, making it a worthwhile dining destination.

Yelp
Saw a video about this Asian brunch spot, and as an avid fusion and brunch enthusiast, I had to try this place out. Came here with a friend on a Friday at 12:00 PM and we were immediately seated at a small table sandwiched between two others. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is a bit cramped and loud, with one glance to the left making for awkward eye contact with the tables next to you, but overall good enough to catch a quick and casual bite with friends. I had such a hard time deciding to get, from the Thai tea french toast to the hainan chicken to the garlic noodles, the options are endless. I settled for the Tom yum omelette that's filled with perfectly cooked shrimp, a tom yum paste, and sautéed mushrooms and bell peppers. The dish is supposed to come with bacon on top, but I opted for extra shrimp instead Honestly, the flavor didn't really stand out to me. Kind of felt like I was just eating two separate things--egg and a shrimp stir fry. Good omelette but I wish I tried something else for $21. They give generous portions, with hefty sides of crispy breakfast potatoes, a tangy house salad, and two slices of a baguette (they got a little soggy and stale from the sauce dripping out from the omelette). Service is amazing! They gave my friend and I ample time for us to finalize what we wanted to order. They also waited patiently for my friend and I to finish catching up, which was long after we had finished our food, before coming up to us with boxes and the bill.

The food was amazing. I got the crispy chicken fried rice, veggie rolls, garlic noodles, and Vietnamese coffee. Everything was well seasoned and good. The service was ok. The guy was nice but moody. I had to wait 20 minutes for my order. There was no ambiance, but they had just opened for dinner. There were a few homeless people outside of the restaurant doing drugs, but that's everywhere in San Francisco.

Yelp
Found this place with my friend by researching for some new brunch food. The place was a little hard to find as it was next to all the residential and abandon buildings, but inside was super clean and welcoming. There are a lot of choices, but we particularly wanted to try their Tom Yum so we got the Tom Yum omelette and the noodle soup. The Tom yum noodle soup looked super good, but it was too sour for my liking. And the omelette was so salty that my friend and I couldn't even eat more than 2 bites. We told the waiter about the problem and he immediately called his manager over and they took the dish back and remade a new one which was much better. Overall if you're looking for some Thai brunchy food I recommend, but just be aware it's mostly on the sour side not the savory side. The service was brilliant. Would love to come back and try different foods.

Yelp
We had a great brunch here! We came here with some friends on Memorial Day weekend and we really enjoyed our meal. We had reservations so we only had to wait a few minutes to get our table and our service was good throughout the meal. My wife and I got some nice drinks (my wife's had lychee) and they were very refreshing. She had the garlic noodles and she absolutely loved them. I had the Thai tea French toast with sriracha bacon and it was so delicious; the Thai tea sauce wasn't overly sweet and it was very tasty while the sriracha bacon had a great flavor without being overtly spicy. It was a delicious meal overall and we would definitely come here again!

Yelp
My cousin took me here when I was visiting the city and it blew my expectations. It was strange seeing the lone restaurant among multiple closed businesses but i could see why. From the drinks to the food everything was so good, quick and fresh. New Year's Day, hungover me couldn't wait for some food and this hit the spot. The only thing was the mango sticky rice mango wasn't too ripe but guess that's what happens when you get it in winter time. I had the lychee mimosa and coconut cream coffee and both gave me the morning boost I needed. Definitely a good mom and pop spot to hit up.

Yelp
This was a great find on my San Fran trip. We actually unintentionally showed up slightly before opening hours and they were nice enough to seat us. Service was very attentive with great recs from the staff. Its spacious and very clean. We ordered the Tom Yum omelette and waffle. The omelette was bangin. One of the best I've had in a while! The mix of shrimp and veggies came together so well and the siracha bacon alone tasted great. Menu is quite extensive with various options for everyone. If I were a local Id definitely make this a staple in my rotation.

Yelp
Mr. East was quite the surprise--a Thai restaurant serving breakfast with a side of attitude, much like myself. My mother and I arrived bright and early, ready to indulge in something outside the norm. The parking situation? A bit of a pain. Navigating the tight streets of San Francisco isn't for the faint of heart, but once we made it inside, all was forgiven. The ambiance was understated yet inviting--clean lines, warm tones, and just enough seating to feel intimate without being cramped. The staff? Efficient, courteous, but they knew when to step back and let us savor the moment. I appreciate a team that knows when to keep their distance and when to be attentive, and Mr. East's balance was spot on. We kicked things off with Thai tea and orange juice. The tea was strong and sweet, while the orange juice was fresh and vibrant, the perfect start to an indulgent breakfast. But the real showstopper was the meal itself--salmon curry and eggplant with tofu, accompanied by two poached eggs. The salmon curry was rich and velvety, with the salmon melting into the creamy sauce in a way that had me wondering why I don't start every day like this. The eggplant with tofu brought its own flair, with each bite of silky eggplant and firm tofu bringing a new layer of flavor. And those poached eggs? Perfection. Their soft yolks oozed into the curry, elevating everything to another level of decadence. It felt indulgent, bold, and just a little bit rebellious--exactly how I like my meals. Having Thai food for breakfast was an unexpected delight, and Mr. East knows how to deliver on flavor and experience. Despite the parking hassle, it was worth every moment. I'll definitely be back to claim more of their menu offerings.

Yelp
We came here for dinner and ordered the shrimp fresh rolls, hainan chicken, and salmon curry, as well as a Hawaiian rainbow drink. Every dish tasted amazing! I personally really loved the salmon curry, especially the Thai red curry. Our server was really kind, and the food came out very quickly. I would definitely come back to eat here :)

Yelp
A great addition to the brunch scene here in San Francisco. Located in SOMA, Mr. East offers a wide selection of delicious milk tea and coffee, Asian-fusion brunch items, and traditional Thai dishes. Walked in on a Saturday around 11AM, place was busy but we were seated immediately. Staff are welcoming and accommodating. Space is bright and clean. Been here a few times and food quality remains consistent. Portions are huge too so come hungry. Everyone come dine at Mr. East, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Mr. East Kitchen is a fusion between Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. Not only is their food aesthetically pleasing, it's also very tasty! Portions & pricing here is great. Lovely staff & delicious food! The owner (Amy) is so nice and takes great pride in ensuring their customers are happy and enjoy the food. My friend and I ordered: sriracha bacon fried chicken & pandan waffle -- best combo! thai tea french toast -- I thought it was ok. Not for me! salmon benedict with fried potato & seasonal fruit -- love how much salmon there was! So flakey and soft. Poached eggs cooked nicely. shrimp tom yum soup -- nice balance of sweet and savory. Beautiful arrangement of shrimp. iced butterfly lychee fizz thai tea with boba (w/ oat milk) I would come back if I was in the area! I would love to check out more of their menu! Everything sounded so good!!

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! Came here for Sunday brunch and it was a little packed but we made reservation on Yelp so we got seated quickly. The ambiance is chill and the restaurant has big clear windows which help brighten the dining space. I love that they give you the option to make a combo meal of French toast and eggs/bacon, the Saigon beef was very tender and flavorful, and everything was well plated and tasted amazing! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
This was one of my all time favorite brunch experiences. And it turns out I'm not alone because shortly after I went, it was announced on Yelp's top 100 brunches in the country at number 10! I love everything Asian-fusion so when I heard we were giving brunch food this special treatment I was already in. What I love is that they offer standard brunch items that you really want like omelets and french toast. but they just add an Asian twist. I had the Tom Yum omelet and I can't explain how that Tom Yum flavor made such a unique omelet. I enjoyed it so much that I instantly added Tom Yum paste to my Amazon cart so I can have my own jar and feebly recreate this dish at home. They also have amazing presentation with fresh flowers and sliced fruit perfectly placed on your plate. If you're on the fence about trying this place, just go.

Yelp
Could I eat here almost every day? Yep. Delicious Asian fusion cafe, casual yet clean and nice enough for a ladies celebration brunch - which we had on a weekday. Sweet, helpful staff, their menu is attentive to vegan, vegetarian and meat based peeps. Breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner options. I've had the Hainan chicken, salmon curry, Pad see ew, spicy sole. Bok choy, eggplant accompanied some. Nicely presented with an orchid Avocado and egg toast, Thai Tea French Toast are some early options but much more is there including espresso drinks and Jasmine lychee tea.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for brunch and shared a Thai lime tea and Thai tea french toast combo. I was really excited to try the Thai tea french toast; it was not bad! Worth a try since this is not commonly offered. The Thai lime tea was yummy; it tasted exactly like you're drinking Thai tea and lime juice simultaneously, in a good way of course. The interior is somewhat small but nice and cozy. Service was quick. They do have a lot of interesting fusion dishes that sound good, and I would like to try another time!
