Love this place! Decor is kinda like rustic vibe. Service is quick once you start sitting down. Friendly server who’s constantly taking more orders from us without fussing. Meat is great and fresh. Cheese corn is the bomb. Definitely coming back for more. There’s no reservation so prepare to wait.

Google
Very fun place and very friendly service. Great vibe with the younger members of our family. We ate well and we ate a lot. Highly recommend the Cajun pork belly and the pork ribs marinated in soy. The only meat that I could skip was the thin sliced brisket. We were celebrating a birthday and they do this whole little thing which is kind of cute. Would definitely go back.

Google
The whole experience was absolutely amazing. Food was super delicious, service was impeccable and it looked like a very visited place. Plenty of shared parking in the front. Inside it looks very warm and cozy. Servers are very helpful and efficient. They would regularly check the temperature and for refills on drinks and food. Definitely go with the all you can eat option so you can try most things as everything tastes delicious. Great date night and family meal place

Food was delicious! It was our first time trying korean BBQ, and our waiter Jay was so helpful and inviting. He helped give good recommendations and showed us the ropes. I can't wait to come back again soon!

Google
It’s our first time here, and we chose to come here for my birthday. Everything from the atmosphere to the food was simply amazing. Our server Jay was amazing and was very friendly. They help you cook your meat and the service is very quick. Totally would recommend coming for some great food!

Maura Sikorski

Google
Wonderful experience! We did the premium AYCE. Our server Jay was fantastic, and let us try a small portion of the intestine. The large intestine was especially good!! And the brisket, bulgogi beef and Mr steak were also very good! 10/10 would come again!

Google
NEVER recommend!!! Food is ok, but service is really rude. They were polite at first, but once u order more, they would be unfriendly and impatient. We arrived at 8: 49, they told us time limit was 2 hours. However they came before 10: 00 and told us it's the last chance to order more. They were cheating us! Impolite and rude. NEVER go if you want to eat all u can eat!!!

Google
So so good! I love cooking on those hubcaps with big flames!! 🔥 Seriously Delicious food, great service, annoying music, a wide variety of meats and sides at a very reasonable price. Always enjoy bringing my family here

Yelp
Joseph was really nice and gave great service. He was super kind and didn't give us a hard time at all and the food was amazing!!!

Yelp
Food is always good in this place. Young was our server for tonight. He was so attentive, and very swift on our request.

Yelp
Our server was Stephen and he was really nice. The food tasted great! Would 10/10 recommend to a friend.

Yelp
Love this place. I don't get to go very often and it's changed a bit. Gone are the skillets, they charge 18% tip on the bill automatically (which is fine, but I usually tip a little more) and they charge $10 extra if you order a bunch of meat then not eat it. The food is awesome, the wait staff is friendly, and it's definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and are HUNGRY, it's all you can eat.

Yelp
Basically, excellent meats and decent sides. We got brisket, different kinds of pork belly (garlic, onion, ginger), and pork shoulder. The fattiness, tenderness, thickness, and flavor of the meat were all on point. Garlic pork belly was our favorite of the pork belly options. I like the medium portion size they give you so that it's easier not to over order. Regarding the sides. Kimchi was bland. Jigae tasted store bought. Fried Chicken is not normally something you find at kbbq but we were curious. Skip it. Steamed egg, cheese corn, and white rice, however, were very good! Employees were on top of tending to our table but could be friendlier. Lots of seating for small to big groups.

Yelp
A friend recommended this place for AYCE Kbbq so had to check it out while in the burbs. Walking in, the place is fairly clean for an AYCE place. Seating is arranged into booths which offer decent privacy for groups. In the middle of each table is the cast iron grill, with an exhaust vent situated above. We got the premium AYCE option for 34.99 per person because it came with some nice meat options such as galbi, pepper steak, etc in addition to seafood. Like every AYCE place, you get sides which included the standard fare of fish cakes, kimchi, radish paper, potatoes, and lettuce. When it came to the meats, the bulgogli was the standout---it was well marinated and surprisingly tender and juciy. The brisket was average. The galbi (or short rib) marinade was uneven, some pieces were more flavorful than others. Same deal with the pepper steak, the seasoning was not evenly distributed. We also tried the pork shoulder and pork belly, those were pretty good. The seafood options were pretty lackluster--the baby octopus was grainy and rubbery. We also got their soybean soup and kimchi tofu soup, which were a bit on the salty side. Their fried dumplings and fried chicken were crispy and flavorful. Service was very fast and attentive. Our server kept up pretty well for a large party and we were never waiting too long to ask for more rounds of meat or sides. There is a charge for unfinished meat so keep in mind to only order what you can eat. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with the experience--a no frills, AYCE spot with pretty solid yet diverse options.

Yelp
Been coming here for years. We enjoy it more than the other AYCE restaurants in the area. Definitely regulars here.

Yelp
One of the top Korean barbecue spots in the suburbs, this place never disappoints. I recently made the trek from Naperville to Mount Prospect just to revisit it, and this time I brought along some coworkers from nearby. Trust me, it's a must-try! Personally, I usually stick to beef, pork, and seafood since the chicken takes a bit longer to cook. But I can't resist their Korean Fried Chicken - it's crispy, crunchy, and delicious. Happy dining, everyone!

Yelp
This is a solid korean bbq place. My favorite part is the breadth of options available for appetizers and meats. Service is quite lacking though. Quality- my favorite here is the Cajun pork belly, egg casserole, Calbee, intestines, and Mr. Steak. All of these options are seasoned well and tastes fresh. The other meat options like the brisket, chicken, and soups are poorly seasoned or not cooked right. Im happy there's some good options here. Quantity- AYCE is worth it for the price here. Only 34 bucks for dinner and 25 bucks for lunch. Atmosphere- I like the seating available for parties of 6. Feels welcoming. Service- very slow. There's also no buzzer to get them to come here for more food. We waited like 10 minutes between rounds for them to come.

Yelp
Food: we got the Premium AYCE that was $34.95. I definitely recommend getting the premium one because it is more worth it for the extra beef and seafood options available. The bulgolgi was surprisingly very tender and juicy. The Mr steak was tender but a bit over seasoned with pepper. The baby octopus was not cleaned very well so I had sand with every mouthful. But overall very good choices available and most meat were fresh and flavorful. Service: the service was very good, our server was very attentive and came by often to get our orders. Caveat is that you can order only three meats per round and have a two hour so you have to time the ordering right so you don't "waste" time. Ambiance: casual vibes

Yelp
This place is on my list of go to places to whenever I'm craving kbbq. The service is great we always had meat and more food coming, the drinks definitely always make a good time into a great time. The environment is so spacious and the layout always gives you an authentic feel, and the option to be tucked away into a more private area makes it feel as if you're having dinner at a home.

Yelp
food good, we ordered 5 meats and ate sides. Corn cheese is nice. service is good ambiance is average felt like real kbbq

Yelp
It's looks like a tiny mall store front that is as wide as the UPS Store next door As a Korean BBQ, I'd say it's more a grow-er than a show-er (ie Iron Age) but the quality is much better, so... it's defo the yummy in the tummy that counts! Prefer a tablet kiosk sign-in that texts your phone over a lame person hatching a pile of buzzers, so another win! I'm not a fan of the hostess trying to select who gets a booth vs. getting assigned to a cafeteria bench of a room, though. Stop being a hater with your droopy fake lashes. Anywho, the server was super nice, and he was so accommodating with recommendations and suggestions. It's not a bad option for $35pp, though charging for lettuce and extra servings of rice is lame.
google avatar

Truc N.

Yelp
It's AYCE and you can upgrade to the premium for $35 which included some seafood options and additional meats. For the price, it's not bad for the meat quality. The baby octopus was bigger than we expected and grill nicely with the spicy sauce, but the spicy sauce would have been better as a dipping sauce for the octopus. Services could be better. Our server was nice and they did changed our grill a lot but kinda slow. This location is smaller than the other location on Randhurst but has plenty of seating to accommodate large groups.

Yelp
All in all, service was EXCELLENT. Quan was phenomenal and assisted us throughout our entire meal with ease and kindness. Getting seated is convenient. You enter your info at the kiosk and then wait in your car to be rung or texted once your table was ready. For a Saturday early evening, we got sat within 5-10 minutes! The side dishes are already prepared for you once you are seated. The process and menu are explained thoroughly and you choose your meats! My only gripe was no rice cakes on the menu, not even as a main dish...it's all about those cakes for me! However, their kimchi is excellent! Super tasty, more spicy than sour and very crunchy and dark red. Might just be their namesake! Meat was tasty but a little too much on the fatty side. I recommend sticking with the classics- brisket, bogolgi and pork belly. They offer soju and this delicious mango drink called Korean Candy. The rim comes with Tajín and a nice slice of mango on a stick. Delicious!

Yelp
We had a table of 6, came at 5PM and seated quickly. When we were leaving around 7:30PM there was a long line waiting. The place is cozy and well organized. The server was attentive and checked in on intervals. We ordered multiple rounds pretty quickly. The server started the brisket first so first bbq plate lasted the longest without become burnt. We messed up and put pork shoulder on first when the plate was changed and it got burnt quickly without the extra oil. Meats we tried: brisket, galbi, Mr. Kimchi (pepper steak), bulgogi, regular pork belly, pork shoulder, baby octopus Favs: galbi, bulgogi and pork belly. The galbi and bulgogi are both marinated and were tender after cooking. And the easiest to cook. Pork belly wasn't super fatty and were cut into even strips so they were easy to snip into smaller pieces with the scissors. Brisket is sliced thin but comes to the table still fully frozen. Takes a while for the bbq plate to get hot enough to defrost and cook the brisket despite it being thin. Sometimes the slices are stuck together and you have to slowly cook and peel them apart. There are also some really fatty pieces. Mr. Kimchi steak is also good but they plate three slabs of steak and then add the pepper and salt so only the top slab gets a full coat of pepper and the other two are unevenly coated which I find odd. Pork shoulder was okay but not as nice the pork belly Baby octopus was the worse for me. Would probably have preferred squid. Banchan - the potato was bland and the onion no one touched We used the lettuce salad as some crunch since lettuce wrap cost extra. The kimchi was well made and our fav was the paper radishes, great for wrapping the meat for extra crunch and cuts the oil. Sides: overall kind of variable between each round they brought them over. KFC - three pieces of fried chicken thigh. Was crispy, classic, nothing crazy special. Steamed egg - a few times it was fluffy and light. Others it was overcooked or stuck to the bottom. Tofu soup seem half filled and didn't have much beside gochugaru and tofu. Soybean soup - our first one was really good. The next two were super salty Corn cheese - this is mostly cheese and no cheese pull. Sauce - a bean sauce dip and a sesame oil with salt and pepper. They have extra salt and pepper shaker but it's mixed together and like 80% salt. I wish they had a separate pepper shaker. Overall experience was great. The booths are nice and built to seat large tables. The service was on par with our pace and we didn't even have a call button on our table. I felt like it was pretty worth it. Would come back again.

Yelp
Food was amazing, the service was great, and everything came out in a timely manner. My drink was never empty and our server Leo and the other staff there is super kind. Super clean and well decorated restaurant. I definitely recommend!

Yelp

Yelp
Delicious food and amazing customer service! Big thank you to our waiter (YOUNG) who truly went above and beyond to make sure we have a positive experience while dining with Mr. kimchi! Will definitely be back soon!

Mark F.

Yelp
Great service, the staff stayed on top of all our requests. Very good selections of meats are available. Portions are also very good. So happy they switched from their original way of grilling to the standard grill pan method.

Cec V.

Yelp
Always the best experience. Always leave full and satisfied. Tip: no to low wait for lunch.

R M.

Yelp
Really great service and the food tastes great! They are very attentive in changing the grills often. Food is really good and they have a great selection of side dishes. The seating is also spacious and roomy.

Yelp
I went for the premium all you can Korean food and all the food was delicious! I recommended getting the beef bulgogi and the spicy pork. The ambience and the service were quick as well, I have no complaints and highly recommend coming here for a good time and food!

Daniel S.

Yelp
Great service and waiter could tell the boys came to eat. Portions were not small and accommodating for a table of 4 guys. We got our money worth and enjoyed all of it.

Yelp
Delicious food, excellent customer service, 10/10 highly recommend!! AMAZING PRICES !!

Yelp
If you're coming from either of the coasts, then the AYCE KBBQ will definitely be a bit of a letdown compared to NYC/DMV area or California, but Mr. Kimchi is a very solid spot to fill your AYCE KBBQ cravings. Came here a little after 6 on a Saturday for a party of 3. Joined the waitlist and got a text saying our table was ready after about 20 minutes. They only do reservations for parties of 10 or more, otherwise it's first-come-first-serve walk-ins only. There's a tablet in the front to join the Yelp waitlist for your table. There's not much to do in the area so definitely be prepared to hang around. At any rate, the food is always solid here. I would recommend the $30 regular AYCE just because the extra offerings aren't really worth it in my opinion. They have a variety of choices to pick from, but I personally always go for the thin sliced beef, bulgogi, and pork belly as my meats. I've tried a lot of the other items, but things like chicken I'm not crazy about for KBBQ. The sides are also solid. Corn cheese, egg casserole, and spicy tofu soup are my go-tos. I think everyone gets one complimentary bowl of rice, but every additional order of rice is $2 which feels a bit ridiculous to me. Wouldn't you want us to fill up on rice instead of meet? Also feels like they barely fill up the bowls for rice. At any rate, the service is pretty solid. Our waiter was nice and we got our meat orders in pretty quickly with the other side dishes like the egg casserole or tofu soup 5min or so after the meats. The place is a bit dark, but the ambiance is what you'd expect from a KBBQ spot. A lot of the seating is decently spaced and separated out so it does at least feel kind of intimate. Overall, while it doesn't beat some of the AYCE KBBQ I've had in LA or on the east coast, this one is def my top choice for AYCE KBBQ in the Chicagoland area. It's a bit of a trek, but it'll definitely hit the spot when the craving comes. I believe they also just opened up a second location about 15min driving north of this one. Will definitely have to pay that location a visit the next time I'm in the mood for it!
google avatar

Jay G.

Yelp
Pros Attentive staff Delicious Tofu Soup Decent Side dishes Cons Meat was lacking flavor Rice and Lettuce extra charge I'd rather just pay for regular kbqq to get the depth of flavors that I'm used to.
google avatar

Kate G.

Yelp
Pretty good! Mr Kimchi is your bog-standard AYCE Korean BBQ joint. Service is decent enough, they replace your cooking surface on every order of meat, which depending on how you like to cook, is either great or unwelcome. Their up-charged menu doesn't provide enough extra variety to make it worth while, their basic menu offers everything that I would typically order. Good food, good service, I will be back.
google avatar

Nick P.

Yelp
Ample parking, that's the easy part. This place is pretty popular especially on the weekends so go ahead and put yourself on the waitlist inside the restaurant. While waiting, you can do some window shopping to burn time. After you get inside, the service was okay, not super attentive due to shortage. Once you get seated, this is very important to people unfamiliar with this type of dining, you have to cook your own food. If you don't like it then you can let the next customers take your place. Not a hard concept to follow if you're open minded and not lazy. If you're decent at cooking then the food will be delicious. As you can see from my pictures, you can get a lot of great items in that ayce price. Ayce price is affordable and this is one of my favorite kbbq places.

Yelp
Our experience was spectacular due to Leo's great service. We will be back again soon. The food was great and the price is not bad at all.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night for a party of 4 and when we checked in at 7:50pm we had to wait until 8:45pm for a table to open up. You check in via Yelp at the front of the restaurant and then wait in your car. Your full party must be present to be able to sit down. We sat in the front of the restaurant where there are long tables but there are many more tables in the back. It can be cold for the people sitting at the end of the table as people open the front doors of the restaurant - but this can be a welcome breeze for the people closer to the cooktop. Their restrooms are in the far back. The staff was quick to refill our side dishes and bring out our orders. We all did the premium all you can eat ($34.99) plus a pitcher of beer and a flavored soju. We did three rounds total of 3 meats at a time. We all agreed our favorite meat was the Bulgogi. The Galbi had a good flavor but was quite chewy. The NY steak was also good. The shrimp portion includes 5 shrimps. The meats/seafood without marinade taste good with the included sauces - sesame oil with salt and pepper and fermented soy bean. It can be hard to get the meat/seafood crispy as you cook over parchment paper (for easy cleaning for the restaurant I assume). We all only had 1 bowl of rice each and 2 rounds of the side dishes/banchan. We also got orders of KFC (Korean fried chicken), fried veggie dumpling (my personal favorite) and corn cheese which we all enjoyed. We thought the portions were fair for the price and even though we had 2 hours to eat we all tapped out by 1.5 hrs in. It might be hard to have a large group with the size of their cooktop but for 4 people or less it's a nice size.

Randy W.

Yelp
So we walked in at 4pm on a Saturday, thinking that we would beat the dinner rush and get seated right away. Only a group of 2 and 4 ahead of us, but we had to wait 25 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated, service was great and they earned their 18% gratuity they automatically add to every AYCE meal (2-person minimum) and there is no a la carte choice at least not for dinner. 3-stars for the service and the food was just okay as I'm not a fan of cooking my food on wax paper?! I enjoy the char and flavor from other Korean bbq grills as well as the higher quality meats at other places. If you're looking for AYCE and volume is the focus, this is your place especially since their team is pretty attentive.

Yelp
Joseph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was awesome!!!!! Great service!!!!!! Food was great!!!! Great atmosphere!!!

Saydees G.

Yelp
I came recently with a friend and the service and food was great. I wanted a booth and was told no at first but was accommodated to a larger table in the back. We got the brisket and bulgogi along with some mango and lychee soju. The price isn't bad for ayce and you don't feel rushed when you come in the afternoon. Ask for Stephan he was great!
google avatar

Bill T.

Yelp
excellent meal as always. Youngkee was a great server and we had an enjoyable dinner with the family.

Kaylee G.

Yelp
Food, service, ambiance was great. Our server Aza was outstanding. He suggested the garlic pork belly which was delicious, as well as the brisket and beef bulgogi. Our new favorite spot!

Consuelo G.

Yelp
The wait for this place is excessive but knowing that full well we still come every time. It's well worth every minute wait. The staff is always friendly and attentive and the food high quality. One of the best KBBQ places I've ever been to. The banchan variety is always changing but also delicious.

Yelp
We visited Mr. Kimchi with a group of friends for dinner and we're able to enjoy all you can eat Korean barbecue. We had a group of about 10 people, once everyone got there we were quickly seated. We did call ahead of time to make sure that we had a reservation for our large drop and everyone needed to be there to be seated. Once we were seated we were asked to choose between regular vs premium, the difference was about $8pp and most of the differences are the seafood options. Whatever one person does, everyone had to do the same. We went with the premium option. We can only order 3 meats at a time and only get 1 of each side at a time despite the number of people at our table. Rice was an additional 2.00 per bowl. To order, you ring the bell and they come by and take your orders. They do change the parchment paper often so it cooks well. I've been to a few kbbq places, and while the service was great, the experience was a bit chaotic and the proteins were just okay. I was hoping for more marinated goods, and more sides. I may come back with a group, but I think I'd love to see other options.

Yelp
AYCE Korean BBQ has been my go to recently so decided to try this place after some friends suggested it. I like the concept of this place but it didn't hit the spot for me like some of the other places I've gone. We arrived and put our name on the waitlist. When we were seated they asked us if we wanted regular or premium. Be mindful that everyone in your group has to agree on the choice. We ended up doing regular. Premium has more beef and seafood options though. I like the fact that you ring a bell when you are ready for your orders and they do change the paper frequently so your food cooks well. The marinade on their meats wasn't anything special, I was looking for things with more flavors. I will say bring able to get fried chicken as a side was interesting. I think I enjoyed their sides more than the actual meats. Not sure if I'd come back anytime soon.
google avatar

Lesley Anne Y.

Yelp
Still one of the best kbbq in town. Plus great servers!!! I think me n my sister are here at least once a month lol. So yes i would say i like this place. Hahhaha. If you havent tried, you must must must! We usually just order beef and pork because the chicken takes awhile to cook. I also like their Korean Fried Chicken so crispy and crunchy and also tasty. Happy eating!!!

Sae J.

Yelp
We went as a group of 9 - taking up two tables on a Friday night. I understand everyone needs to get the premium or regular for one party, but I don't understand why both tables have to order the same kind of meat (3 orders per table). It shouldn't matter since we all had to get the premium anyway. This made it very difficult to order as a whole group. Terrible concept. Quality of the meat was OK. We got the bulgogi, steak, kalbi, chicken and pork. I wouldn't order the bulgogi and brisket-tough to chew. But the side dishes were good and the kimchi was fresh - probably the best thing on the table. Hard to find a good Korean bbq place around Chicago but overall it was decent and nice ambiance for a group.

Yelp
FWIW I am Korean-American and do not like all-you-can-eat restaurants so this was a tough sell. With that said, came out with a friends who love coming here. I could see why - this place is really inviting to people who aren't Korean. The menu is in English with easy to understand descriptions. I actually had a hard time ordering because I didn't see any Korean (could have missed it). We went early (4:45 on a Sunday evening) so we only had to wait 10 minutes. Service was excellent and the bell is very convenient. The food comes out right away since you cook it at your table. Wine only comes by the bottle which is not a big deal since they're pretty inexpensive but not really why you come here. On to the food - it was just okay. The pork belly and brisket are good - honestly though, it's the same quality that you get from a Korean grocery store. The bulgogi was okay, kalbi was bad, squid was bad (although I never like squid at a korean bbq)... there were a few other meats, but just wasn't a fan. The banchan was also really limited and bad. Not a fan of cooking setup. You cook over a cast iron griddle with a cooking sheet on top (that they replace with each order). For me korean bbq is about getting the smokey flavor, seer, and caramelization from an open flame and better if it's over hot coals. This thing doesn't make sense to me. At the end of the day, I think it's really about quantity over quality which just isn't my thing. Come here starving and leave totally stuffed. I will say I was skeptical when I walked in because I didn't see any Koreans around. When I left I understood why. Please do not bring any Korean person here especially anyone from Korea (parents, relatives, friends) - they will complain the entire time.

Yelp
I went here for date night and it was such a great dining experience! Friendly, attentive service and yummy food! Everything I had was absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Mr. Kimchi is probably my favorite kbbq restaurant near the Chicagoland area. Although their prices aren't the cheapest, I feel like their fresh arrangement of foods are worth it. Their premium menu includes a LOT of protein options. Some of these options aren't seen in a lot of other kbbq places too. Some of my favorites include the brisket, beef thin intestines, and thinly sliced pork belly. If you aren't up for it, you can skip the intestines, but the brisket and pork belly are must gets! Soo good! Their spicy tofu soup is also very tasty. I love that there is an -unlimited-arrangement of banchans you can pair your proteins with too. This is a great place for small or large parties. You will have a blast cooking and drinking with friends!

Lunch buffet was a great deal and loved the variety of meats and banchan. Brisket and thinly sliced pork belly were our favorite cuts. Stephen, our server, was attentive and helpful

Yelp
Went here with a group of friends for dinner, group of 8 and we were seated within 10 minutes. Service was great! Quick and they were helpful describing the types of meat we weren't familiar of. Food was great, filled us up!

Yelp
I love Mr. Kimchi. Awesome Korean BBQ that is all you can eat. Great price and so much food. Service is friendly and set up is cute and ideal for date night. Love the Korean food ads as well. Great value with quality food.

Yelp
I've had it twice this month and food was great. A hidden item that i would recommend is their fried chicken - it literally tastes so good! Apart from food, their service was generally nice, they come every few minutes to check on people with smile.
