This Valentine’s Day, the Move Might Be to Skip Dinner and Drink Cutty Bangs at the Park Instead - Eater SF

"Mr. Liquor on Valencia Street is by far the most popular option given its proximity to Dolores Park. It is known for its cutty bangs, which are essentially disassembled cocktails in a convenient plastic baggie." - Dianne de Guzman

Google
Mr. Liquor has been the best corner store I have ever found! Need a quick little cocktail? They got you covered. They even provide you with a to go cup with ice! Always a fun time going inside too with music playing and giving customers candy! This Boss Lady mixer was also 10/10

Google
Seen so many tik toks about this place and had to see for myself! The iconic ziplock bag cocktails are everything! Self served and makes you become your very own bartender. Some packages needs a ice cup but you can get that at the counter! Love to drink and this was a fun experience 10/10 Bonus: its about a 11 min walk from Dolores Park and you can drink there Legally (;

Wow, what an incredible experience at Mr. Liquor! This place is an absolute gem in San Francisco. From the moment I stepped in, I was blown away by the vibrant atmosphere and the amazing music playing in the background. It truly felt like a club in a liquor store, making my visit so much more enjoyable. The selection of drinks at Mr. Liquor is unparalleled. They have an impressive variety of spirits, wines, and craft beers to choose from. I was thrilled to find Bay Water Vodka, a locally distilled vodka known for its smoothness and subtle coastal flavor. Clap Those Cheeks Tequila was another standout – a premium tequila with a bold and vibrant character, perfect for crafting signature cocktails. I also discovered Golden Gate Gin, a gin inspired by the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, offering a balanced blend of botanicals and citrus notes. And let’s not forget the delightful Fog City Whiskey, a rich and velvety whiskey aged to perfection, capturing the essence of San Francisco’s foggy charm. Cable Car Rum, with hints of tropical fruits, paid homage to San Francisco’s famous cable car system. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, always ready to assist with recommendations or answer any questions I had about the different liquors. They even had pre-packaged options of some unique cocktails, which made exploring new flavors so convenient. The highlight for me was the music. The carefully curated playlist created an electric vibe, and it was evident that a lot of thought went into setting the right mood for customers. It’s not often you find a liquor store with such a fantastic music selection, and it added an extra layer of enjoyment to my visit. The ambiance at Mr. Liquor is excellent. The interior is well-designed, and the store is kept clean and organized. Shopping here felt like more than just a mundane task; it was a delightful experience. Overall, I can’t say enough positive things about Mr. Liquor. The combination of fantastic music, an extensive drink selection, including unique options like Bay Water Vodka, Clap Those Cheeks Tequila, Golden Gate Gin, Fog City Whiskey, and Cable Car Rum, makes it a must-visit spot in San Francisco. Whether you’re looking to pick up your favorite bottle or discover something new, this place has it all. Five stars without a doubt! I can’t wait to return for another fantastic night out at Mr. Liquor.

Google
Coolest liquor store in the US. Hands down. Come for some alcohol. Leave with an experience. Get a pre-made bag, they have cups and ice. Worth going significantly out of your way.

Google
I am a local neighbor that frequents this store to buy liquor and soft drinks. The vibe of this store isn’t great however sometimes you need a quick bottle of something for hosting. As of August 2024, I can unfortunately no longer support a business that is supporting Aaron Peskin for Mayor - whose policies and lack of action have really affected the Mission neighborhood negatively and I’m surprised a local small business hasn’t felt the weight of this as well. A perplexing shame.

Google
their products dumped right outside their door . wish they’d suggest to not litter in my city.could also add daily sweep by your staff?

Varun Jain

Google
The owners have a dog which will attack you. I had paid and was walking out of the store when the dog attacked me. One of the guys did control before it could bite and give me an unwanted trip to the ER. However the guy behind the counter smiled back at me as if I had just downed a shot of tequila with the boys. None of them apologized. Instead one guy tried to pin it on me, suggesting that I might have been walking too fast. Pathetic. Don’t go here if you want to avoid a trip to the ER

Google
Mr liquor! I mean this is such a great place in the Mission. It's just a quick walk from the 24st Bart, and pretty close to Dolores park. The best thing here is definitely the drinks that are all together and ready to go! Brag a ice cup and enjoy (at home right).. the cashier's are the coolest guys around too, always trying to find a way to hook you up

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. I was in Mountain View area for work and found out about this store after mentioning to my friends that I want to try one of those gas store cocktail drink bags. This place did not disappoint, the vibes are a little chaotic with club-like music playing and great options for snacks like a gas station. The cashiers are fun and one of them gives out suckers sometimes as well. We went to Delores park after getting drinks and then over to oakland for a girl in red concert. Great vibes for the concert after the mixed drinks from Mr. Liquor.

Yelp
GREAT SERVICE. The counter staff is kind and fast, super professional. They have ice cups and more importantly community. Made friends outside the store and was able to start my night off great. I cannot emphasize enough the beautiful community that is built here from the respect for the shop and the value of safety and kindness on a night out. Must try the Boss Lady, so good!
google avatar

Tyler J.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped by before we went to Delores Park. Their mixed drink bags are cool. They have really creative, funny names that fit well with each drink. Each bag comes with an ice cup. The drinks are priced at about what you would pay at a bar. The staff at the shop are very friendly - we stood in front of the fridge forever trying to decide what to pick and no one gave us a bad time. We enjoyed it and we would definitely return.

Yelp
Cutty bangs, baby! Mr. Liquor is a day drinkers dream. On the corner of Valencia and 23rd, you find a seemingly average corner liquor store but walk into a damn party with hyphy music bumpin, naturally. There are two fridges filled with DIY mixed cocktails in ziplock bags. With names like "booty 4 dayz" and "hand job" how do you not expect to get absolutely wrecked!?! Not only are these cocktails super fun, they potent as hell. Most of them come with 2 spirits and a mixer and run you around $10 - $15 bucks. Some have bigger liquor bottles and cost closer to $20. Best part is that they have ice cups ready to go for you to mix your drink on the go. The vibes here are unmatched for a liquor store. Place is clean, well stocked, and staff is super friendly! They end your experience with a lollipop to go with your drank. lol Perfect for a park day, around a 10 minute walk to dolores!

Yelp
Mr. Liquor is an awesome option to grab a drink and go chill at Dolores Park. In particular the service is really good when one of the cashiers is there because he plays really hype music and brings up the cheer!
google avatar

Yelp
I never thought I would write a Yelp review about a liquor store but here we are! Mr. liquor is a liquor store located on a corner in the mission (tough to find parking). I came here after seeing it on tiktok and it definitely did not disappoint. I wanted to grab one of their to-go cocktails since it reminded me so much of the Korean convenience store trend. All the drinks had such interesting names. I got the cheeks 4 weeks and it was SO GOOD. 10/10 would recommend. I would love to come here again and grab a drink before waking over to Dolores! They also gave free lollipops in the ladies :-)
google avatar

Viviana S.

Yelp
It was so much fun picking out your drink and the names are funny!! Definitely a nice little treat to take to Dolores park near by with some food or some vibes :)

Yelp
Like most people, I found this place because it was shared by friends who saw it on social media, and when it comes to deconstructed drinks served up in a ziploc bags, how could I resist? As soon as you walk in, they are blaring music to get the vibes going. I feel like I could listen to Mac Dre, Too Short, E-40, all day and it really sets the tone because their ziploc bag drink concoctions are going naturally make you do some hyphy movement, caddy daddy dances. They got two doors with ziploc bag drinks with very unique names. I went with one that was Henny + Hyphy Juice, and my date got the 'Blue Balls' which was red bull, parrot rum, and ciroc. While my dates drink was good, my henny drink mixed together, looked and tasted like dirty bath water. Ended up drinking most of the henny on it's own. While it wasn't my cup of drink, I like the effort. It was $19.99 for a half a fifth of henny and the hyphy juice, which is plenty of alcohol by itself. They are all in separate bottles, and when you pay, you can grab a big cup and ice from the cooler by the register that you can pour your drinks into. If you are spending the day at Dolores Park, this is a solid spot to start if you didn't buy drinks before getting to the park. They got plenty of ziploc bag drinks, beer, liquor, etc. The people inside were awesome and really fun to chat with. Such a fun place, will be back for sure!

Yelp
I came here for the presorted mixed drinks in the back of the store. The Kiki is delicious!!!! If you want to dilute it more, buy a mighty mango naked juice too. The baggie comes with a cup of ice and straw so that you can enjoy a nice cold drink. Only down side of this is the pricing. $14.13 for the baggie after tax. It cost around the same amount as getting it at a bar. The shots cost amount $4 each at wine and more and a kerns should be $2 max. So there is an up charge

Sf S.

Yelp
Great store to go to people are very friendly and chill and there drinks are the best always get me right !!! Have a k9 great dog love it
google avatar

Alyssa S.

Yelp
Been coming here a long time but there are a few other local stores with better prices and selection. Good for quick mixed drink bag if you in the area.
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
I visited Mr. Liquor just for the viral TikTok video of the mixes drinks they have and costumer service here it's 10/10, the guy at the register even let us choose one song to hype us up the moment and it was nice having fun while we were deciding with my girlfriend what to drink. Prices are a little bit expensive, it's like going to a bar for one drink. Total we paid around $34 for 2 bags with mixes and mini liquor bottles. I recommend this place just for the experience, you won't regret.
google avatar

Yelp
One liquor store to rule them all. Greeted by what I can only assume were life size card board cut outs of DJ Khalid and Kevin Hart, we knew this was the spot to pick up a roadie post dinner. As soon as the guy working the cash register made eye contact with my friend, he immediately blasted Sean Paul. We can't help ourselves. We're shaking ass on the Josh wine display and it's a Tuesday. You only turn 25 once, so you gotta get a pre packaged mix drink in ziplock bag. Preferably one called "white girl wasted" or what my friend aptly got me (I am a red head), "ginger snitch." Walking down Valencia, we pour the shots of rum and ginger ale into the ice cup provided to continue our "surprisingly lit" week day night. Thank you Mr. liquor.

Yelp
Most fun liquor store, ...gotta check it out, provided you are prepared to have a good time, laugh, vibe to the music, pick a zip locked cocktail bag to-go, grab one of their cups of ice, and go on your merry way to enjoy whatever comes next! (Plus the service was great.)
google avatar

Na G.

Yelp
I really like the food here and the prices are the best. The quality is on par with other restaurants. The service is great. They are very responsive and delivery is fast.
google avatar

Val J.

Yelp
Came here at 10am and the door was closed. Google claimed the business was open at 8am. I was eager to check them out for the first time after the great reviews. My review is purely based off misinformed business hours .
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
What a fun liquor store! I'm not old but they make me feel so young! They're very on top of checking ID as they should. Hey, I'll take it. Free lollipops, I'll take that too! And how in the heck do all their pre packaged to go mixed drink bags all fit perfectly into their to go ice cups. Like how? Every time. I'm always stunned. It's probably something so simple like counting ounces lol. 5 stars for service, products, and creativity.
google avatar

Attaylor T.

Yelp
Fun mixed drink bags. Jolly rancher was my favorite one I got, tasted just like a jolly rancher!
google avatar

Choco A.

Yelp
Wow! Visited this store due to a a TikTok video that my sim saw. The vibe was dope. The music was lit. They saw us dancing and turned up the volume and then popped on the strobe lights. Not to mention the customer service was amazing
google avatar

Juan V.

Yelp
What happen to Ms.Liquor ? This is a good place to grab a bottle for a last minute liquor run on Valencia. Good selection of wine for a corner liquor store.
google avatar

Tania C.

Yelp
This place is a MUST if you are looking to start the party off right in SF!!! I hear about this place on Instagram and I knew it was a win. This was my first stop and I was not disappointed. I went with the YT girl wasted and the pineapple bomb. The women at the counter was so sweet. She offered cups prefilled with ice and a straw. I even got a lollipop as a thank you. I made sure to spread the word to friends so they would patronize this business. I'm definitely coming back!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This place was amazing for wine and alcohol, and for the excellent customer service as well. Had so much fun here and enjoyable. Absolutely recommended Mr. Liquor anyone who loved Alcoholic drink. Anyway, i am not Alcoholic but sometime i loved it.

Jon J.

Yelp
A well stocked liquor store and it looks cool inside. The service was nice the girls where professional and the music was good. I just can't get over the prices of the bag cocktails. Really? Cocktail bar prices for a gimmick? You can buy everything down the street and save 5-8 bucks. Or go to the hood lol this isn't a new thing

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
amazing liquor store. he has the best selection of pre made cocktails and was really great. a slay indeed.

Ella H.

Yelp
we love the atmosphere and energy. the drink kits are delicious and make an afternoon at mission dolores perfect. the people working there bring the party and always want to include customers in instagram stories and mini dance parties. Don't skip Mr. Liquor!

Louis B.

Yelp
Stopped by on my holiday from New Zealand. The "cutty bangs" bagged drinks are great and well priced, nice employees and a good vibe in the mission district
google avatar

Stephanie R.

Yelp
Careful they don't overcharge you at night (I was not drunk or high). I went in for 2 snacks, they happily charged me for 3. When I said, "um, the price looks high", the cashier barely flinched with "oh, oops, here, I'll give you the difference in cash". Being that I've used my card thousands of times at local markets and have never been overcharged, I found it rather off-putting. Buyer, be aware
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
I mean, you gotta love this spot. The staff is friendly and they're really creative. They had a disco light show on the weekend at one point. They make these hilarious little to-go party packs that have a mixer and a couple of nips in them. They really are trying to make the most of what they have. They definitely skew more on the liquor end of things (as you might expect by the name). It's great for ice-cream, gummy candy, chocolate, but there isn't too much else. I would say 3/4 of the store is beer, wine, or liquor so just keep that in mind when you're going. All-in-all, it's been a great corner store for all these years.
google avatar

Paulina E.

Yelp
Besides a various choice of liquor, the staff is always super friendly. The store is in a convenient location with great store hours. But have you tried the baklava yet?!! AH-MAZING!
google avatar

Henry L.

Yelp
Sketchy grocery store on Valencia The place is opened late, but far from great Bought a pack of Maltesers chocolate the other day. The cashier chuckled "this item is the best". Found out later when I started eating it, it tasted stale. Turns out, the chocolate is expired :( Dude, if you're gonna sell expired food, at least don't chuckle at the customers for being suckers. Not cool bro The bottle of Snapple also costed me $1.99, which is not a lot, but there's another grocery store right down the block that charges $0.99. Not a big amount of money, but 2X the price is pretty shrewd. The cashers are also always constantly chain smoking outside the main door, and speaking on the phone. Overall a very unprofessional vibe. Methinks will not visit again.
google avatar

Olivia L.

Yelp
This store went above and beyond! We legitimately had so much fun buying alcohol here. Five star atmosphere and great selection (and great taste in music!!!)
google avatar

zania c.

Yelp
favorite store in sf . always stop here to grab me a cutty bang . they owners are very very welcoming and always having fun with me when i come in !! love them
google avatar

Rein C.

Yelp
Friendly store manager/owner and very reasonably-priced wine. Not the largest selection but if you happen to come across a wine you like, it's usually much cheaper here
google avatar

Tracyla S.

Yelp
My first time here yesterday, tik tok brought me here. I love how they do the mix drinks here. The clerk has stellar customer service, super nice & friendly!!! Will definitely be back every time I come to the Bay Area.
google avatar

Troy S.

Yelp
I happily walk past 2 other corner stores to come here for beer, wine, liquor, free shots on my birthday and random dance parties every Friday and Saturday night after dark. Just ask them to turn on the disco lights, you won't be believe what happens. Even if you don't need anything, go in and read the names of their Zip Lock bag cocktails, why more bartenders don't steal them I dunno.
google avatar

Casey S.

Yelp
There are plenty of liquor stores around the Mission, but few are open at 7 in the morning. Now don't get me wrong - I didn't come into Mr. Liquor this early to grab a drink. Rather, I needed to grab a Power Bar to serve as a meal replacement for my breakfast. Service was friendly, but $3 for a bar you can get at Safeway for .99 is a little much.
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
I had to write an update for this store because they are consistently offering helpful service, friendly smiles, decent prices -- great experiences all around. Seriously, their smiles are infectious. On my last visit, they apologized for the expired cheese incident (see my previous review). They recently changed their food service to another more reputable company, AND they now check the packaging before restocking to ensure that there won't be another expiration date problem. I thought it was really considerate of them to read their customer reviews and act upon them. This is why small businesses are the best!
google avatar

So S.

Yelp
For me it's the customer service. I can't give you my money and the broad behind the counter is always a sourpuss. I just can't. She even brings her kid to work with her so you want to feel bad and then you get over it quickly. Find another job. Having a good time isn't your thing.

yousef a.

Yelp
The best store ever got everything you need music on weekend kind employees and the best service you can get,,,, ohh got mixes too they're tasty
google avatar

Jul C.

Yelp
COCKTAILS IN A ZIPLOCK BAG - need I say more? If you're from the city or the bay you know exactly what I'm taking about. Perfect for pregaming before buying expensive drinks at the bar. A classic and one of my favorites is the cutty bang!
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
I have used this store a few times as my gf lives close by the prices seem really steep I know its the mission but almost $5 for a 2 liter of soda is a bit ridiculous.
google avatar

Nooraldeen A.

Yelp
If you are looking for special price ;) you have to visit M & C market they have all the special drink . The best selection Wine , beer , liquor , and the best selection of the ice cream They are open every day . Weekday 7:30 am to 12 am Weekend 7:30 am to 2 am
google avatar

Angela N.

Yelp
According to the sign outside this spot is called Mr. Liquor now which makes me Mrs. Liquor because I'm pretty sure there's some common law to that effect based on how often I'm in here. The first time I bought alcohol from them, the cashier carded me and said, "You don't look 21" in a suspicious tone and that was the best compliment I've received all decade, which is about the length of time I've been 21. So yeah maybe my alcoholic, mid-life crisis ass is biased but then again it's also really hard to beat $20 Dickel rye.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
Happiness is... Discovering that the corner liquor store has Lindemans Peche Belgian Beer! Sadness is... Not getting carded. *sigh*
google avatar

Jeremy W.

Yelp
M & C, you give me no choice. On you I'm spending the rest of my soundtrack budget for 2006 on a very expensive song. You deserve it. [SF/X; Careless Whisper by---oh snap, we didn't have the cash for George Michael---who is it by? Marilyn McCoo?!? From Solid Gold? She did a cover? And there's nobody else? Not even that Tamia chick...is still out of our price-range? Yeah, I know Bananarama did it too. Ask SONY if they'll give us a deal on the instrumental by Wham as long as it has the unedited sax solo and backing vocals...done? Cool. Blow, saxman. Blow.] Fortunately for purposes of our soundtrack budget, M & C's is home of The Six Dollar Six-Pack. And The Eleven Dollar Twelve Pack. And Two Bottles Wine, $7.99. All of them drinkable too. Not a spit- take in the bunch. What I am trying to build before your eyes here is one of the worlds most agreeable and pleasant corner stores ever. Family-owned, I called M & C Discount Center "Thanasi's" forever. My old room-mate was a Talks To Everyone, very up on all of her neighborhood biz. She says, "You know it hasn't been called Thanasi's in years?". Me back, "The sign still says Thanasi's". That was years ago and the sign STILL says Thanasi's on the corner. Does this mean that the M & C family respected the neighborhood enough to leave up an old sign from a previous iteration that thrived when mens socks were worn with garters? I think it does. Bits of random Corner Store business: ~ The owner is a natty-hat wearing guy of Mediterranean descent. Mustachioed and clearly of the people, he has raised his heirs to address customers as "boss", in a friendly, non-classist way ~ He also keeps one or more African Gray Parrots here. My Mom is a Crazy Bird Lady, so shopping at M & C is like hanging with My Mom, only without all the gott-damn questions ~ They almost always have the TV tuned to Comedy Central here. Middle Easterners rocking the Stewart/Colbert block works on multiple levels ~ They used to sell discount porn from a box on the floor. I shouldn't have to tell you why this is both wrong and hilarious. City livin' ~ In case it's illegal I have to say that the littlest, most minor M & C-er has never sold me beer or wine before. But I'd think it were cute if it just happened. Business, never personal ~ Only the limited hours (they close before 11 usually) of Not Thanasi's take the shine off of the place. And yet it make this fine local business seem even more precious and rare. Agent J's Law #43: If they carry Vernor's Ginger Ale, it is probably a Five Star Corner Store. This store, whatever it is called, does not contradict stated rule.
google avatar

Aaron V.

Yelp
Quite simply the best corner store on Earth. Some of their high end liquor prices are cheaper than BevMo (Don Julio in particular). They have great deals on beer (currently a 12 pack of Chang is $10) and they even do up to $100 cash back on ATM transactions. The guys here are friendly and they always have some bumpin' dance music playing. This place is unbeatable if you need to make a quick liquor run.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Conventional wisdom says that your corner store of choice is the one that's closest to you. Conventional wisdom be damned! I happily walk past several other corner stores to enjoy the always-extra-friendly service at M & C (aka Thanasi's) Market. They're awesome. It's definitely worth 5 stars and 4 blocks of extra walking.
google avatar

Shayna N.

Yelp
Love this place! Right around the corner and open til 10pm... or maybe 11 or 12... but, damn i wish it were open 'til 2am. They've got a great selection, the best deals on beer and wine around. (2 decent bottles for $7.99, seriously, can't beat that) The guys that work here are also pretty cool. The old dude dresses to the nines on daily basis and calls everyone "boss man." They even let me get away one time $1 short cause i live in the hood. Good Karma, yo.
google avatar

Kim N.

Yelp
I'm gonna have to go against the grain here and say that I didn't find much that I wanted here. I guess as a niche frequenter of "dirty liquor stores" and looking for certain items, I'm going on a different criteria. However the guy working that night was outside smoking and as I walked in he gave me the stink eye. Not sure why, just didn't feel right. I looked and looked, saw nothing of interest and made my way out....
