Absolutely incredible little Fish 'n' Burger spot in the U-district! Wife and I shared a Blackened Salmon Burger with the Salmon and Chips. This IS NOT frozen Salmon bought from Safeway out of a box, it is Top Notch, and what looks to be Sockeye! Just 10 times the food and service we were expecting. Yung, who took our order and cooked the food, was SO friendly and soft. Just a great overall experience. Huge portions, Great food and Friendly's service! I'd give them 6 stars if I could;)

Get the garlic fries!!!! SO good- and not overwhelming!! Got the blackened and Hawaiian salmon burger. Both were ok but I was looking for a little more flavor. But, awesome portion of salmon with great sauce🕺

Mr. Lu’s is serving up KING SALMON like nobody’s business! Seriously THE BEST fish & chips I’ve had since I moved to Seattle 8 yrs ago. Beats the absolute hell out of Duke’s!! The search is over! This unassuming spot in the UDistrict is truly a gem, and they’ve got the chops to prove it!l. Today I went with a Seafood Plate with Crispy Fries. Flavorful, hot, crispy, tender… plentiful… all the things you want from deliciously decadent seafood. The prawns are butterflied and make the perfect accompaniment to the salmon.

If you have t been here yet, RUN! Best burgers on the Ave! I don’t have a photo because I ate it too fast!!!

Incredibly delicious, kind, and patient! The owner gets amazingly delicious fresh salmon straight off the boat and was not only kind enough to show me the beautiful fish that was thawing for the next day, she went above and beyond and gave us some smoked salmon to eat for later. The food was phenomenal, unbelievably good. It's a shame I never came here before, but I'm happy that after several years in the U District I finally decided to stop in. All staff were incredibly friendly, the price was a steal, the food was beyond delicious, the service was speedy, and honestly I don't think I could say a single thing they need to improve on at all! They even were incredibly patient with my 9 year old sister who my wife and I were watching for the night, and brought a smile to her face with their aquarium and friendliness. If I could rate 6 stars, I would. I recommend anyone looking for delicious fish, chicken, or beef burgers/sandwiches: visit this place ASAP! You won't regret it! Had the Phoenix Fries, Blackened Salmon Sandwich, and Hawaiian Salmon Sandwich. Truly fantastic. Best meal I've had in a while.

The food and service were excellent. It was a great price for a large plate of food. The burger was so big I couldn't get a bite at first! Only downside was it's a fairly hot day and humid so the restaurant was a bit warm inside. Totally understandable. The kind woman who helped us also expertly and KINDLY helped a homeless gentleman who came in asking for some water. She expertly got a to-go cup and filled it for him and was polite about it, then got him headed back out the door with no fuss at all. Nice to see some humanity nowadays. I will gladly come back any time we are in the area!

The jalapeño chicken burger is one of my favorites on the ave! The sauce has a kick for all those who need some spice in every meal (me). I did takeout (yes I'm extra and put it in a plate) and it is such a comfort meal to go but if you prefer dining in, it is a nice small diner vibe with a fish tank. The service is a bit slow for a fast food restaurant but I believe it is because they truly put the time into making the best burger for you. The bacon is perfectly crispy, the veggies are very fresh... you get the idea. Oh, and get some waffle fries while you're at it!

I had never gotten food from here before even though I have walked by it several times. I got the Hawaiian burger and seafood sampler, and I couldn't believe how food came with the sampler and it was delicious. The burger looks just as good but after all the fish I'm going g to have wait on the burger. As a bonus the woman at the register was a delight. I'm definitely going back!

We have been eating at Mr. Lu's for years. It's our go-to for our Friday office lunch. The folks who work there are so great, and it has that old-school feel like the places we went as kids. It doesn't hurt that the food is fantastic and will keep us coming back!

Honestly the best food on the ave slept on burger joint the jalapeño burger slaps and the saltwater fish tank makes me happy every time I walk in great costumer service

Mr. Lu's is an absolute gem. Under $10 for a burger? In this economy? A miracle. The lady is so nice and the burgers are well-sized and dripping with juice. Quiet little place that feels like home.

Love this place!! My friend and I visited this place first time. My cod sandwich was very fresh and yummy, so was my friend's burger. The owner is super nice and friendly. I like their many seafood options. I will definitely come back

This place has a lot of different burgers to choose from. I feel like the cheeseburger price is kind of pricey, but everything else is typical of Seattle prices for a burger /sandwich "restaurant" and not a fast casual place. Even if you don't like burgers, there's a bunch of different sandwich and fish options. We got the bacon cheeseburger and babes blue burger. Both came with my favorite style of onions. However, they made both burgers super drippy and soggy. I don't know how anyone takes these burgers to go because they would get even soggier. Our burgers came with a complete amount of toppings, so they were too tall to take bites out of without removing some ingredients first. I also tried the sweet potato fries, which were one of the first ones I've ever liked. They made them crunchy enough, since they're usually softer at other places.

It was a small, quaint place and we were the first customers in for the day. There was one lady running the place and she was so friendly and accommodating. I ordered the Hawaiian burger and my friend ordered the jalapeño burger. It was super flavorful and tasty! The sauce was delicious, and the thick pineapples added sweet, wonderful juices into the patty. I had a couple of bites of the other burger which was also yummy. The food was simple and was extremely satisfying, and I honestly just loved the humble atmosphere. Would definitely come back again, and if I were a student here I would've come regularly. Also, the fish tank is so cute! Lots of happy looking fishies and interesting plants.

If you're in the U District you have to support Mr. Lu's. They are SO freaking nice and the food is delicious with big portions. The salmon and chips are king salmon! The batter is awesome and so are the fries-so crispy and fresh.

Overall, my experience here wasn't terrible but it wasn't awesome either. My friend and I ordered 2 fries (garlic and salt & sweet potato) and a strawberry milkshake to go. While I loved that the fries were made fresh and super crispy, the garlic and salt fries were unbearably salty. Yeah, "salt" is in the name but I expect a reasonable amount. I ended up rubbing each fry I ate on a piece of napkin. On the bright side, both my friend and I LOVED the fry sauce. Like I was planning to give a 2/5 star review but bumped it up just for the fry sauce. As for the milkshake, it was subpar. It was watery and not creamy at all (the milk to ice cream ratio must've been WAY off what it should be for a creamy milkshake). Both of us were very unimpressed. For what we got, the drink seemed way too overpriced. Each fry order was $3 and was a substantial amount, however.

Pretty underwhelming. From cold and not very tasty burgers, to cold and way too hard to eat mushrooms, and fries missing main ingredients, we were disappointed to say the least. I don't think this will be on our order again list anytime soon, I was excited too, the reviews were really good.

Ordered via phone for take out. Overall not a bad price for what we got... $20.50 for a cheeseburger, bacon cheeseburger, waffle fries and sweet potato fries. (Tax only brought it up an additional $2.07.) Both burgers were tasty! We got them with a couple things removed from each (a variation of no lettuce, no tomato, no onions, no pickles), but overall no complaints. The fries were also tasty. The waffle fries had a seasoning salt to them that wasn't ideal, but overall still good and the sweet potato fries were crisp and not soggy at all! Located in University district, parking is at a minimal. I got dropped off and my ride waited in the parking lot across the street for me to pick up the order. I would definitely not mind returning!

The Salmon burger was overwhelmingly spicy but good, salmon is fresh. The seafood mix was wasting reasonably fresh seafood because the batter was cheap and oil was not fresh. It left a bad aftertaste because of the oil. On top of it they charged 10% more thinking you won't notice. Well I do, and not quite happy about that.

I have lived near here forever and just tried it for the first time a few weeks ago. I was very pleasantly surprised! From outside it seems a bit old and worn but the inside was clean! The burger was really good!!! Good quality, good fixings and good flavor! I loved it! We also got Phoenix fries. They were fatty and yummy! The service was fast and friendly. I'll definitely come back in the future!

The food here is good - IF you can get it. I ordered 3 bugers and one order of fries, and the idiot DoorDash driver didn't bother to use the navigator app and so "delivered" my order to the wrong address. So I had DoorDash place a re-order for the exact same stuff, and Mr. Lu's CANCELLED the order because they were "unable to fulfill it." Last time I order from Mr. Lu's! BUH-BYE Mr. Lu! Oh - be warned - DoorDash and TryCaviar are the same company!

I'm a vacationer being toured around by some local friends. They highly recommended Mr. Lu's for their burgers. As locals, they knew what they were talking about, and we weren't disappointed. I had the mushroom cheese burger, and it came out perfect! Very tasty and juicy. And the fries were great too!! The service is with mentioning too. Very friendly and quick.!

I got the Cajun chicken. I thought it'd be spicy but it had a lot of mayonnaise. The chicken itself was extremely thin, maybe half of a breast. It was so thin that in the middle there was a hole. The onions were not caramelized and were only translucent. The bread wasn't even toasted. For around $10 it was not worth it. I would maybe pay $5. I'm writing this review bc a week later I ate the grilled chicken sandwich at jack in the box, across the street and it was much better for $1 less. Eating jack's sandwich just reminded me how bad Mr.Lu's was. I give it 1 star more than I should because supporting a local business is better than going to a national chain. Maybe the other burgers are better?

Don't let the less than stellar outward appearance of this U District gem dissuade you! I was walking aimlessly around the neighborhood hoping to stay close to the library. I saw Mr. Lu's and looked it up on Yelp. The reviews were positive so I popped in. The reviews were dead on! The mushroom burger was fantastic though I did feel I needed a shower afterward. Mushroom burgers can devolve into soggy messes, not the cook's fault obviously. For that reason I'd probably try something different next time. But couldn't have been a fresher tastier burger with piping hot waffle fries! Bravo!

Solid burgers and fries option. I really like that they have a lot of seafood options! We ordered through grub hub, so it was more expensive --we would probably just come by here if we were in the area next time to avoid paying the additional delivery fee. We got the cheeseburger, spicy blacked salmon sandwich, waffle fries, onion rings, and Oreo shakes. The spicy salmon sandwich was pretty good, though not at all spicy. The salmon was cooked well though. It did have some onions that were undercooked on top of it. The waffle fries were great! The onion rings were pretty good, the coating was a little grainier than the double fry that I usually tend toward. The Oreo shakes were a little thinner than we expected and didn't have any cookie pieces in them (which we were hoping for). All in all, I think we would come back here if we were in the area to pick up some waffle fries and some seafood since the prices are really good.

First time going to Lu's today with my gf (I was wearing a dress shirt and tie). The burger was impeccable, outstanding , fresh, and juicy (drip drop). It was so damn good I had to order TWO BURGERS. I got TWO BBQ chicken burger PLUS bacon. They were very kind enough to offer us a FREE plate of fries!! Outstanding customer service and amazing food, definitely deserves a 5* review. The reviews took us here thinking it would be one of the best burgers in Seattle. Not so much. Meh. Deserted in a Friday at about 1pm. There is a reason. Mediocre burger with dried toasted bun. Sweet potato fries over cooked, dry and tasteless. My hubby had the cod and chips. Okay, just too much batter. The fries were good though. Only go here if you are starving and cannot wait to eat somewhere else. Burgers just okay, a step above McDonalds. Also, it is not that cheap. For two of us it was $23.

Down the street is a different joint, which disappointed they couldn't even take cash for an order because their WiFi is down. It's 2020 cmon now. ANYWHO, happy it didn't work, this place hits the spot when I crave a burger. They are juicy, and made fresh right there and the lady was very nice. Also they have a fish tank and idk I personally felt like this was a mom & pop kind of place and absolutely loved it. From the grilled onions to the juicy bacon, this is my favorite spot. Also if you aren't craving a burger, look at their menu and consider their other options, I will be coming back and updating this review with the other mouthwatering items they have to offer!

Crisp, fresh, delightful burgers and fries. Mr. Lu's burgers are really good! Despite how they look outside & their interior, you'd feel a little hesitant to go in, but this place has really good food! They quickly made our burgers and serviced it to our table. Patty tasted fresh, the juices were good, my bun wansn't too soggy. My waffle fries were cooked to perfection. If you're craving burgers, you've got to try this place at least once, especially if you're from u-district. I don't give it a 5/5 because my utensils weren't all clean. There was dried gunk on my forks and knives.

Decent burgers and seafood sandwiches. Nothing special or to write home about - but always good food. Something to order both occasionally and regularly for a quick lunch/dinner.

While not a pleasing place, don't mistake it for bad food. I ordered the grilled salmon burger and salt and garlic fries. The salmon was cooked good and it was pretty thick in certain parts of the fish. Only thing I wasn't keen on was the bun... To mushy texture when chewing. Fries are good but way overpriced for the small amount they give you.

After my second visit needed to write a review! This place is awesome! The owner is so friendly and gets your order out fast, today the owner wasn't there but the guy who made my burger came through, definitely coming back, it would be cool if you used gloves while making the food though

Garden burger with cheese, fries, and an oreo milkshake... SO good, so cheap. This is dangerous for me to know because I live right around the corner and will definitely be coming back too often.

We stopped by Mr Lu's to pick up food for a picnic at a nearby park during Labor Day. They open during the holiday and we were happy to stop in and support. Mr Lu's menu is quite extensive for a small operations. We ended up ordering a jalapeno burger, a cod fish sandwich, salt & garlic fries and a an Oreo milkshake. All of which were satisfying and filling. The burger packed a nice punch as my husband likes his food especially spicy. My cod fish burger was crispy and flavorful, but a tad heavy on the tartar sauce. My main disappointment as a fry connoisseur was that the fries lacked salt and other seasoning. I think the garlic part of the "salt & garlic" fries was in the white sauce as the fries themselves had neither salt nor garlic on them. A little salt goes a long way, just saying... Overall, we still enjoyed our food and our picnic. I would come here again to pick up dinner if I lived nearby, but not a place that I would necessarily crave.

This was the first place I tried after landing in Seattle. It was close to the university and it got great review on Yelp.So why not?! I have to admit it did look like shady place on the outside, but don't judge a book by it's cover! Service: It seems like a family owned restaurant. Both the staff (I'm assuming wife and husband?) were very friendly. They were having some issues with their new computer system, but they were good sports about it. Food: Burger: The beef patty was nicely seasoned and well cooked. I wished I had asked for less mayo since the sauce really overpowered my burger (but that was my mistake). Garlic & Salt Fries - I am a huge sucker for fries! And these were definitely one of the best fries I've had! Phoenix Fries - This oddly reminded me of nacho fries. I love how they slightly over crisp the waffle fries just a tad (enough to keep their crisp when smothered in sauce). Overall: Huge fan! I would definitely recommend this place! The price for the quality is definitely worth it!

The outside is kind of old and inside could be remodeled as yellow paint is super dirty. But honestly I was very impressed by the food! And the plates it was served on! I would definitely come again! It had a very unique taste which is very tasteful.

I think I just found another decent burger on the Ave. Woo hoo! I like my burger naked (meaning just the regular toppings and nothing fancy or different), and that's just how they called this one there. I heard it was the frozen patty instead of them grinding their own beef and whatnot, but it was still a pretty dang good burger. (Not AMAZING, but definitely good.) They have a nice selection, too. The only ones I remember though are the jalapeno burgers, the one with barbecue sauce, and that one of them had grilled pineapple. I was happy that the fries came with the burger because I wasn't sure if that would be the case for a burger that was just under $6. It also came with their house aioli sauce, which is always nice because... while I love my ketchup... I also love having 2+ dips available. We also got the (new!) Huckleberry shake (~$4.35) and the Oreo shake (~$3.95). Those were good, but definitely cost more than I wanted to pay for them. They had seafood as well. Mostly fish 'n chips, clams 'n chips, calamari... basically the fried stuff. That could be good, but I'm thinking I'll stick to burgers here. They're filling and at least a couple bucks cheaper.

Mr Lu's is your classic Ave burger spot--small, kind of greasy, and populated with college kids nursing their hangovers. Mr Lu's has been around since my freshman year, but it's taken me a while to come in and try. Burgers are reasonably priced and there are a few creative options if you want to branch out from the classic cheeseburger. They have several different types of fries, and several non-beef options as well. I had the babes blue burger which was your standard burger but with blue cheese. It was pretty satisfying with a good amount of blue cheese on. I paired it with sweet potato fries, which were alright but a little too greasy and came with a strangely watery aioli. Overall, a solid college-adjacent burger place that's good for students. However, when there are so many quality, interesting burger joints in Seattle this probably won't go on my regular roster.

3.5 stars: been here few visits for mushroom cheese burger and it has been DELICIOUS (: The patties are juicy and cooked just right while the mushroom brings in that greasy goodness complemented by the cheese. Trust me it's a messy eat so prepared to have a napkin. I can taste the potato-y crunch in the fries which are great unlike EJ's or Burger Hut whose regular fries are over cooked and under seasoned. However, crispy chicken was a complete letdown. Idk if it's the breading or the grease but it seemed to have been contaminated with the fish that they use in their other menu. The chicken tasted awfully fishy and that is not what I expect in my chicken. AVOID ANYTHING TO DO WITH FRIED CHICKEN HERE! TLDR: Bomb burgers and fries but avoid the fishy crispy chicken.

Very good food, but err on the side of caution when ordering online. My boyfriend is pretty allergic to pork and he didn't realize that their burgers contained bacon until a piece slid out (he also doesn't know even the taste of pork due to religious circumstances). I checked the uber menu again and realized that some sandwiches don't mention their bacon contents (chicken jalapeño). The fries also tasted somewhat fishy, but I'm sure they were simply the product of a hasty pre-closing order and a day's worth of frying fish. Other than the bacon slip up, the burgers were very tasty! I'm glad to have a place that sells far from boring burgers. I came here from a passionate recommendation, and the flavors did not disappoint. We definitely would like to return to Mr. Lu's and explore the menu, because it certainly begs for our return!

Thought this was great. Definitely not upscale, but good value for my fish and the onion rings were great. Little hole in the wall place, basically right up my alley. Got the food for takeout, and it was definitely made to order for us. Was delicious. My theory is that onion rings are never bad. But in this case, they were super good. Much better than average rings, which is a ringing endorsement of this place.

I have been to many burger places and I got to say that this one is the best I've had! The handmade burger was so juicy I had to use extra napkins,everything was fresh and hot, the bun was perfectly toasted and the waffle fries with bacon,roasted jalapeño and onion and cheese was awesome. The staff was friendly, doesn't look like much from outside but definitely a go to place when I'm in the area!!!!

I always come here for the Phoenix Fries. These are fried-the-life-out-of waffle fries drenched in spicy mayo sauce, oily good onions, spiceeeh jalapenos, web of cheese, and bacon bits. I love getting the sauce all over the fries and pairing it with a good amount of onion. The onions make me a very happy person. Do beware - eating too much of this will leave you with a headache because of all the grease. But, to satisfy a savory craving, this does that job juuuust fine! And perfect to share with another person. (Difficult to be eating this on your own because they don't skimp.) I've had the burgers before and they're fine, but nothing special and a tad bit pricier compared to other places on the Ave. Really. The only reason I keep coming back is for those yummy $5 Phoenix Fries.

The Cajun burger was simple, juicy and delicious and the caramelized were flavorful. The phoenix fries filled you up and packed a punch with taste. Would go again.

I ordered the fish n chips which were Fried crispy on the out side flavorful in the inside. Delicious dipping sauce what more to ask for. For four pieces and fries all for 12 bucks. Will def come back to try a burger or fish sandwich . I'm sure it will be good.

I used to love this place. They provide great burgers and sandwiches. I love Cajun burgers or sandwiches. They have amazing waffle fries. However, last time I met a new waiter and he first took my order wrong and I found this after I paid. So I cannot change that. The question is, I would like to have coke so I said coke and put my finger towards soda machine, but he charged me can drink. I found out ask him that if I can have sofa machine's coke he said there was nothing he can do about it. But a can coke would be fine so I said ok, I can have can drink. However, they do not have coke. Then, after like 5 mins, he came to me and said that there was no waffle fries. So I have to have French fries. I love this place but that meal is not happy. I understand that above situation is not a big deal, but I think that Mr.Lu can do better than this. Just try to do a correct order and know your supplies. I will try again and hope they can do as good as they used to be.

Food is great. The restaurant itself doesn't look too good, but the food is what matters most. The burger and fries came out piping hot...huge portions too! Ordered the crispy chicken burger, bbq burger, garlic & waffle fries, a vanilla shake and a can of Pepsi $31. Will definitely be back to try out the other burgers.

This spot has very cheap meals but a good price. The seafood isn't bad for the price and I really recommend trying the Phoenix fries.

This is my first time. Ordered Naked Burger, which has a basic beef patty with lettuce, tomato and onions. It just took a few minutes to get my burger. The buns were very crispy. It didn't stand out from other burgers I've eaten. Definitely there are better options to choose from the menu.
