We dined at Mr Morris for our 6th anniversary and had a lovely time. The service was impeccable - they even had a card saying “Happy Anniversary” from the Mr Morris team, along with a complimentary snack of pumpkin seeds, which was a thoughtful touch.
For drinks, I had two different sakes, I highly recommend the Tsuru-ume Yuzu Sake. My designated driver had a grapefruit soda, which was also excellent.
To start, we shared the sourdough with whipped chicken fat. While it wasn’t anything too special flavour wise, it was a creative alternative to the usual butter you find at most restaurants.
For entrees, we ordered the dehydrated carrots with nduja, which were very good. The texture of the carrots was particularly interesting (in a good way), and the sauce reminded me of a more intense version of penne alla vodka sauce.
For mains, we had the scotch fillet and pumpkin agnolotti, accompanied by sides of potatoes and a pear and walnut salad. In my opinion, the potatoes were slightly undercooked for my liking, and the pear lacked a bit of crunch.
Dessert was my favourite course, a seasonal summer berries dish with honeycomb.
Overall, I would definitely recommend Mr Morris for a special occasion such as a birthday, anniversary, or any celebration. Their attention to detail in both food and service is outstanding
