"Among the leaders of Denver’s surprisingly solid pack of Mexican seafood specialists, this casual Sunnyside hideaway does it all with a small but kind and hard-working staff: aguachile, cocteles, botanas, ceviche, caldos, molcajetes, and more positively teeming with mariscos, as well as grilled and fried fish dishes. (Bonus points for the irresistible goat birria tacos.)" - Ruth Tobias, Eater Staff

We just moved here a couple blocks away and couldn’t wait to try it out. A small, locally run restaurant is something we love to support. The portions were good, but we didn’t get the homemade Mexican food we expected. Chips, corn tortillas, flour tortillas - all store bought. We were really hoping at least one of the tortilla options wouldn’t be Mission. The prices surprised us, we weren’t expecting it to be so high. However we assumed with the higher prices, we were going to receive homemade, awesome Mexican food. We loved the “dive/local/hole-in-the-wall feel, but the food (we had ceviche and fajitas) left much to be desired. We were really hoping this would be our go-to spot, being able to walk a few blocks to get some food. Sadly we won’t be making a return, and our hunt for a good Mexican restaurant will continue.

Best Birria Tacos in Denver ! These tacos are big. I've tried them all and this is a definite must try. Yummmm:P

The food here is very good. Music can be a little too loud at times. My go to favorite Mexican food meal is Crispy Chile Rellenos. I have gone here several times for that delicious experience only to be told they were out of them. My first time here was the week before Christmas 2022. I loved the meal. I found out the next day that they had charged my credit card for our meals plus a separate charge for around thirty dollars. I called the restaurant and had difficulty finding someone who could speak English to me on the phone. Finally, someone who spoke English came to the phone and was able to research and find out that the cashier had used my credit card to pay for another customer's carry out order the night I was in the restaurant. I was reassured that they would reverse the charge. They failed to do so. I had to file a dispute with my credit card company to get my money back. My credit card company also had difficulty getting someone who spoke English to help them investigate the disputed charge. A WORD TO THE WISE...if you use a credit card in this restaurant be sure to verify that they charge you accurately!!! I could of got busy the week of Christmas 2022 and not confirmed the charge and would have been ripped off royally. Completely unacceptable.

Everything is good, the only thing i will remove is the imitation crab meat but every thing else was very good

The service and the food where great, but the payment wasn’t. This was the last time I’m coming, when you look at the menu it’s shows the prices but when you ready to pay the charge you the double the price of the food with out telling you. Something from $19 can change to $30 and with them telling you.

Yelp
Excellent bacon wrapped shrimp. Tender beef in hubby's burrito.the seafood soup looked like a recipe book photo. The service was super friendly. I had a hard time reading small print on menu. Photos on menu helpful. Very casual atmosphere with lively Mexican music. Pretty easy to park. We'll be back to try more dishes. I should've asked about subbing sides...that's on me! Flavorful salsa and thin, crispy chips.

Yelp
Best food I ever tasted' friendly service and great atmosphere 100% recommend the karaoke was the best part

Yelp
Although the food was great, the server added gratitude to the check and tried to hide it. It was only two of us. Happened both times we went, so as good as the meals were, can not go back here unfortunately. It's sad because I liked the meal for sure.

Christine M.

Yelp
Atmosphere makes you feel like you are in Mexico. The food is incredible! Best fish tacos I have ever had and fajitas tasty as well with generous portions a real local gem !

Yelp
A pleasant "hole in the wall" place that served seafood Hispanic style! BIL and I walked into this small establishment located within a nice neighborhood scene. We ordered pa couple of beers along with cerviche and the volcano. Chips and salsa were served first. Salsa was different (good way) than what I have had in Texas. The cerviche was refreshing with either the tostadas or chips. It went very well with the beer. The volcano included shrimp wrapped in bacon, cactus, beef, chicken, and ground beef. A very filling meal for two. It was a little to salty and a few more chewing may be required with the beef. Otherwise hot flour tortillas made a great bite. This would have been a solid 4 star but make sure you have some time to wait on food (read you may need to order more than one or more beer). I did order more than one beer but our server forgot. Price may be a little high but not unexpected. Anyway, a nice and different experience. Give it a go! My rating scale: 1=Stay home and fast or eat dirt 2=I am psycho hungry and someone is paying 3=Average and I am hungry 4=Tasty yum yum! 5=OMG, I ate my fingers too!

Yelp
Excellent service & the tastiest molcajete I've ever had. Definitely recommend!

Kaya D.

Yelp
I ordered the shrimp ceviche, which was has to be the closest thing I've had to compare to Puerto Vallarta. Supper fresh shrimp and the perfect amount of citrus. The presentation of it was exquisite to say the least. For the entree, I ordered the Carnaval De Mariscos. Which included perfectly cooked-easy-to-peel-shrimp, a whole fried tilapia (AMAZING OMG), clams, more fish & I substituted the crablegs since they weren't available at the time, for bacon wrapped shrimp. And I have NO REGRETS

Hannah C.

Yelp
The most delicious mixed ceviche plate! Friendly service and a great atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone in Denver.

Mackenzie J.

Yelp
Best micheladas and tacos in denver!! Always impeccable service and such a large menu to choose from.

Ingrid P.

Yelp
This unassuming place makes the best birria tacos I've tasted and I didn't even know about it until my sister stumbled upon it when she came to visit. We both got the goat and beef birria tacos. I love how the tacos are basically doused with the consomme. Tip: if you're ordering take out, ask for the consomme on the side. Their horchata was so delicious as well! All their food was delicious to the point that my sister went back a second time without me! It looked like their specialty is seafood, so I'll definitely be trying it when I go back.

Angela E.

Yelp
Worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant period.... The food was mediocre (stale chips, salsa was like colored water, steak was super chewy) at best but when we went to pay the price was $21.99 for the entree but the menu said $18.99...so I told our waitress and some young guy comes over and says those are the old prices but TODAY ONLY I will give it to you for that.... So I said well you can't give customers a menu with one price and then charge them more... You have to honor your menu prices... He laughed at me... I said I can't believe you are laughing at me - you are so rude... Then an older woman started talking to him in Spanish and telling him to be quiet but he continued to make rude comments... I would never go back or recommend

Ivett M.

Yelp
Mejor lugar para comer mariscos! La comida recién echa nunca llegan los platillos fríos! Tienen música y el ambiente es genial!!

Gustavo K.

Yelp
The food was good the service was good the only problem was the owners son was in charge of the restaurant I guess he claims that the waitress was the second day so they overcharge my credit card over $100 and when I talk to them he was really rude and said that he don't speak Spanish and he'd do not understand Our English even when I told him that we are American citizens and we do speak English so I show him the receipt and he got more upset and tell us they never came back and they were trying not to give us our money back we keep arguing about it and they give me some of the money back cash because I told him that I was going to call the police again I do not recommend this place if you want to go be careful please make sure that you read your receipt it seems like they take it vantage of the people that do not understand English or SpanishI will never come back again

Yelp
Traveling from New Jersey, I was really craving some authentic Mexican food (specifically birria tacos). This is one of those "hole in the wall" places that has absolutely DELICIOUS food! The chips and salsa to start was perfect, the salsa had just the right amount of heat. Our table had the shrimp ceviche, birria platter, birria tacos, and chicken enchiladas. Everything was perfectly cooked and came out quickly. The waitress was very attentive, and the owner himself even came over to personally deliver the check and ask how our meal was. Highly recommend!

Joselyn P.

Yelp
If you're curious about this place, JUST GO!!!! Worth it. It's so good!! Worth the price! And the quality is so good!

Jen W.

Yelp
I loved Mr. Peralta Marisco. We went for lunch specifically for the Birra tacos. Preferred the goat over the beef. They were lightly fried served with a savory dipping sauce. The smothered chicken burrito was stuffed with grilled chicken meat and a perfectly spaced sauce over the top. Service was good. A small place so be prepared to wait

Jack L.

Yelp
Fresh seafood and toppings. I like the aguachilies but we got a variety and everyone liked everything. The burrito was very big, as was the tampiqueña plate. Service was friendly and I saw they have a full bar and takeout as well as dine-in. Recommended.

Ari R.

Yelp
Wow! Amazing seafood dishes! Service excellent and very friendly. Menu is huge, but head towards seafoods and ceviche

Roger R.

Yelp
Visiting from Dallas and found this place, the food was absolutely great...fresh and great tasting...I highly recommend this place...great atmosphere and super friendly service!

Daniel M.

Yelp
Hidden and authentic gem for ceviche, aguachiles, fish tacos, and other seafood dishes. I've never been disappointed her, and the prices are right.

Yelp
I will not lie, this was a random stop in based on Yelp rating because my friends and I wanted "Mexican food" and we were nearby (at mile high comics). This is an unassuming place with about 8-10 tables but the food!!! The service was on point and greeted right away and a table was made to accommodate our party size. There are pictures on the menu and omg the menu. So we ordered the guacamole salad and it was fantastic. The waitress graciously acknowledged and left cilantro off half the plates. There is so much greatness about this place. The food was fresh and delicious and so tasty. We ordered (probably pretty benign) dishes. Street tacos, combo plates and cheese enchiladas but it was absolutely delicious. Every single plate was fork wiped clean. I was pleased to see that they filled up and while busy every table was served and the food kept coming out of the kitchen. I recommend this jewel of a find.

Yelp
The closest you can get to the Mexican Riviera from Denver. Food was amazing not to mention the service. The volcanic molcajete grill special, was out of this world, not to mention the, shrimp, cucumber, beff jerky pumped up 24oz Michelada! the shrimp tacos... everything reasonably priced, delicious and generously served, not to mention the full bar, the down to earth sincere hospitality and service... very filling and satisfying way to hit the spot! Good place to take your taste buts for a rodeo! probably not a secret for much longer !!

Jocelyn R.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! The food was fresh made it was so good. I recommend going the service was great we really enjoyed it

D K.

Yelp
Very impressed. We've been looking for a good molcajete since Paxia closed and this fits the bill and frankly is better. The meals are large so don't let the prices fool you. My wife and I split the molcajete deluxe and still brought some home. You get a family run vibe, which I believe it is, which makes you very comfortable. We will definitely be back!

David T.

Yelp
I'm so happy to find this place. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were so savory. The best of my experience. We also ordered guacamole with our chips and that was good too: lightly spiced ... subtle ... and if one wanted heat you could add it yourself. The server was nice and helpful. The only negative was maybe the price. Without adult beverages it cost over $35 for the two of us. But the quality was there and Denver is an expensive place to live and work.

Yncyl G.

Yelp
Delicious seafood molcajete (do know it's chilled). Oysters were delish with ceviche!

Samuel H.

Yelp
Amazing. I'm from Phoenix, AZ and I take great pride in knowing that I understand great Mexican food. This is amazing Mexican food. 1. Tacos Dorados de Birria - Goat 2. Mr. Peralta Tacos 2. Coctel de Camaron I highly recommend checking this place out.

Ray Z.

Yelp
Finally had a chance to stop by? Seems place is shutdown or not open as schedule indicates, was looking fwd to it will update if otherwise. No schedule on door or anywhere.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
we love the food and the staff. we have eaten several items from the menu and all of them are my favorites - cold seafood platters or cooked seafood to steaks, burritos, flautas, tacos they do it all well.

Kacie s.

Yelp
For great food and great service go here!! Had a brew at Diebolt, wasn't feeling the food cart there. Walking towards Los Carboncitos, my friend refused to go there because of unprofessional service and high prices. Kept walking and found Mr Peralta Mariscos tucked back in the neighborhood, it wasn't busy, no lines or busy wait staff. Figured we'd try it out. Friendly and fast service, family friendly, good prices, fresh delicious AMAZING tacos!! We shared 4 tacos, chicken and chorizo (turned out to me more like 8). They were sooooooo good! We'll be going back and taking our friends!!

Andrea V.

Yelp
Love love loved this place!! I'm originally from California, and currently live in Montana. This was some of the best Mexican food I've had outside of California. The crispy tacos de Birria with chivo were the best tacos I have had in quite some time. The consomé, salsa all of it was perfect. There was a huge party there while we went and the chef threw it out of the park with the food even with cooking alone and for so many people. Can't wait to visit Colorado again to get some more. We even tried going on I believe a Monday to get more the day before we had to head back to Montana and they were closed. Can't wait to go back.

Scott N.

Yelp
We were looking for mariscos and was not disappointed! We started with the ceviche tostada appetizer. Very flavorful and plenty of it, but we should not have ordered it because our main entree was enough food for at least 3 people. The Volcán is listed as for two, and that is true without an appetizer. Octopus, shrimp (some wrapped in bacon and some not), crab, scallops, and fish (some fried some not) all together in a mocaljete of bubbling sauce. My wife and I couldn't finish it but we will be better prepared next time!

Lauren M.

Yelp
this place is DELICIOUS AND AUTHENTIC!! i have been searching for 3+ years just to find ONE TACO that tasted even SLIGHTLY like the street tacos in mexico and these are hands down the best tacos i've had in the USA. i'm not originally from denver, just here for a layover, but i WILL BE BACK SOON!! amazing, friendly service, the place seems to be family operated and they really do make you feel like family here. if youre still undecided, just know: this restaurant is such a hidden gem in denver that i made a yelp account JUST to review this. great conversation too!

Honest Review 1.

Yelp
Here it is: 1. The food was stupid good. The specials are expensive which makes them intimidating. But it is a massive amount of food and amazingly good so I recommend you do it. When I say a lot of food, if it's $25 and serves one...it really serves two big eaters. Anything that says it serves 2 really serves 4. 2. It's a hole in the wall. And it's local and family owned. 3. The prices are SURPRISINGLY high for a hole in the wall. Don't worry. See point #1. I can't tell you how good the dish I got was. I don't remember the name but it was a cast iron hot pot with the name deluxe in it. Amazing

Daniel L.

Yelp
Excellent veggie fajitas! The help is wonderful, great customer service! They are very accommodating.

John S.

Yelp
This is a good place for Mexican style seafood, especially shrimp. We have had several dishes there and they were always well composed, with good spice and extremely generous. There are at least eight different kinds of hot sauce, and they are working on a liquor license (they may have it by now ). Oh, and they have goat tacos. YUM!

Adam S.

Yelp
Ate here for the first time tonight and will definitely be back! This place is legit. I can't believe it's so close and I've never been there before now. Give it a shot - you won't be disappointed!

Stefanie F.

Yelp
So so good! Authentic Mexican in unpretentious spot. I had Camarones Empanezadas and my husband had Mr Peralta's tacos. The food was delicious! Even my daughter's quesadilla had good Mexican cheese. Ask for the home made hot sauce. Yum!!!

Anya L.

Yelp
We had a terrible experience. The restaurant was dirty, margaritas and food were terrible. Service was very slow.

Tim P.

Yelp
This is a slightly off the beaten path Mexican restaurant that is absolutely awesome. Please go, I want them to last...... Hands down best in the neighborhood. Very nice people and simply incredible food. Shrimp a la Diablo, best ever. Did I say it is REALLY GOOD.

Mari P.

Yelp
Went here with a friend, honestly the food is so delicious. I tried their camarones empanizados which included steamed broccoli, peppers and green beans with rice and a creamy chipotle sauce to accompany the breaded shrimp the waitress was so kind and Mr. Peralta came and greeted us and shared some eating techniques with us. All in all a really nice place to go if you are in the mood for some authentic mexican mariscos. #PuroYaqui

Johnny R.

Yelp
This place is a Hidden Gem. This family is friendly and cook their hearts out every single day. Inexpensive, delicious food cooked with love.

Karen T.

Yelp
Best Mexican food we've had since we moved here from California! Delicious shrimp tacos and Guacamole & chips.!

Lesley R.

Yelp
My family and I traveled to Colorado for the first time and decided to dine in this restaurant because of the prior good reviews we saw. To our disappointment, this was the worst Mexican restaurant we've been too. It was too overpriced for the basic food. Food didn't have taste or savor at all. Worst experience ever.

Brandon N.

Yelp
I had the Molcajete Deluxe and the sauce it comes with is delicious! Dip the meats in the sauce or make a small taco and pour it on top. It comes with tortillas and a little best of beans, rice and guacamole. It's almost enough food for two people.

Natalie S.

Yelp
Tacos were awesome, probably the best I've ever had, and I loved the chips and salsa! Will be back next time I visit Denver!

Jacqueline W.

Yelp
New Mexican restaurant in Sunnyside. Have been here twice for the breakfast burritos. First time I got them to go, second time I ate in. Chips and salsa are great. Guacamole was good. Burritos were yummy and currently are only $1.99! And they are big! Lots of entree options. Love having a local place to eat and will be back.

Pedro L.

Yelp
Have been here multiple times always very good. The staff is friendly and the chef makes sure your food comes out exactly as you ordered it. Price is great. Great place to bring the fam on a Sunday afternoon. Avoid the hi mark up large Mariscos places. This place does the same at a more low key vibe.

Jamie Q.

Yelp
Delicious food!! Great service in accommodating our big group. Pastor tacos were bomb!

Jose N.

Yelp
Friendly atmosphere awesome great tasting food for an even better price what else would you want.. if you're thing is Mexican and seafood this cozy place is for you!!!!
