The very best dining experience we have had in years. OMG, so good. We had a Wonderful waiter, blond hair young man, who explained each dish in detail. This made our dining experience even better. He even told us to try the tea without milk, which he was correct, it tasted better just black. Every single dish we had was truly amazing. My favourite was the beef croquettes. Thank you, Chefs, for giving a damn about the way you cook.

Great place. From walking in to the leaving. Attentive staff and eager to make time enjoyable. Food delicious, presented really well and timing so well done. The music the best for atmosphere and getting in the happy place. Not too loud too. The decor from seats at the bar to entering all had such character. Loved it. Neighbour shops with sip and sew, browser book store, also open late made the area unique and memorable.

Stunning riverside views, quality food and good drinks selection. I had the prawn sando, which will be a Hamilton staple every trip… The chicken was a yummy blend of sweet, heat and savoury. Washed down with the best Hazy in NZ. I was greeted at the entrance, given options of seating and friendly, quirky service. Haven’t been for a few years and glad this establishment is still providing quality, and alive and well. “I’ll be back…”

Yummy food, great setting, fantastic staff. The rest of this review is just elaborating on the summary above. If you can grab a table outside, on a good day it’s a picturesque spot looking down on the river and a vista full of nature. The staff are genuinely helpful, and happy to assist. The food is fantastic. From the simple and scrumptious duck fat roasted potatoes, to the sticky chicken, and through to the wonderful salad, and they make a lovely spiced tomato juice too 😋 Can’t say enough nice things about this place. Beautiful, unique, and inviting place perched upon the waikato river. Absolutely loved the display of plants throughout and the efficiency of service from the amazing male waiter that tended to us and made our experience so much more enjoyable! Highly recommend place for great food and drink to match. The sour gummy bear cocktail is a must, and the sticky chicken was the best chicken by far my fiance and I have ever had! 10/10, we will be back. The star of the dishes was the beetroot. We will definitely order that again the next time we’re here. The rest weren’t too bad as well. The Donatello mocktail was also a must try!

really good food, tender sirloin and tasty beef cheek dish. A bit more salty but good with drinks overall. Nice cocktails too. The staffs are very attentive, very welcoming

Beautiful view, delicious dessert and a fabulous server made up our evening here at Mr. Pickles. There were a few mistakes made with our order, but our server (oh I wish I had remembered his name!) went above and beyond to make things right for us. Hubby ordered the lamb skewers, which he thought were fantastic and I ordered the saucy boys. It said fried squid but the squid did not appear to be fried to me, at least there wasn't any kind of coating. I did like the squid, but by the end of it it was a bit too sweet. With the mistake in ordering we also received the prawn sando's. While I like prawns in general, these didn't do much for me. Oh! I almost forgot - the duck fat crushed potatoes, oh those were pretty darn tasty! Definitely give those a try! For dessert we ordered the Biscoff trifle and it was definitely worth it. I highly recommend it. Due to an error we received an extra dessert - the sundae which consisted of coffee ice cream (we don't drink coffee so we didn't eat that part of it) but it had a chocolate mousse/truffle on top that was seriously amazing. Oh my, one of the most delicious things ever. So, though there were a few mistakes, overall we left happy and appreciated the attention and friendliness of our server and the food, especially the desserts!
