Sitting in a little shopping plaza, this place was much better than expected. I had full intentions on getting nachos when I walked in, but then I realized they had the Charcoal grilled chicken that I haven't had since Pollo Loco in Maryland. I ordered a half chicken With french fries and Charro beans along with corn tortillas.
The chicken. Flavor packed. Juicy. Fall off the bone. I haven't had this in forever and I have to find a place like this in Columbus. Just amazing! The young man brought out two bottles of house hot sauce. One red and one green and he warned me that both were hot so to use them sparingly. You can see the peppers in the red sauce and I tried it first on the chicken and oh my gosh!! I'm assuming they do all their own sauces because this was matched perfectly to the chicken.
Charro beans. Almost soup like with chunks of pork (I'm guessing) and again they just had this home cooked touch to it, like it's been simmering for hours. Flavor all the way through, no need for hot sauce.
French fries! I am definitely a Fry snob and these were better than my favorite Gyro place in Northampton, Pennsylvania. Crispy but not overdone, light and fluffy on the inside with the perfect amount of salt.
Corn tortillas I swear these made by hand. Wrapped in aluminum foil, these things managed to stay soft the entire time.
This place looks unassuming from the outside, but quality of food for the dollar, in my opinion, can't be touched. I spent $15 total for all of this food and that included a bottle of water.
Plain and simple, when I'm back in Dayton, I will be stopping!
