The Best Things Infatuation SF Writers Ate In July 2025 - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"We love El Mil Amores, so it’s no surprise that their dinner-focused sister spot, Regalito El Mil Amores, is also a hit. Hone in on the chicken smothered in glossy mole—it’s earthy and sweet, with the complexity of a 54-page IKEA manual. The fall-off-the-bone meat is best sopped up with thick house tortillas." - patrick wong, julia chen 1

I order from here on DoorDash all the time and get the crispy potato tacos, but my order from yesterday had no potato in it. It was very disappointing and they were pretty much empty. For $11 I expect to actually get something in my tacos

I'm surprised by the low ratings here. It seems some reviewers focus on minor issues and hastily assign a 1-star rating. I’ve visited this place thrice over the past few months, and each experience was exceptional. The food quality is consistently top-notch. I’ve read complaints about the pricing, but I strongly disagree. The generous portions offered at this price are a steal - it’s a wonder they’re making a profit. The chicken quesadillas are a personal favorite, large and satisfying. I also recommend their chips and salsa, as well as the fully loaded steak fries, though I’d prefer mine a tad crispier - a request I'll make next time. Despite its “hole in the wall” location, this gem is highly underrated. It’s family-operated, and the team’s dedication to service is evident. Give it a try - you won’t regret it!

Allan the hostess was charming and always smiling as he answered me and my sister's questions. We wanted everything listed on the menu but finally decided on the special and decided on other things for our loved ones that weren't able to come with us. Looking forward to returning to try other things from the menu. Loved the chocolate leche cake that he suggested we try...

Horrible meal! The young man at the counter couldn’t understand English or speak it hardly at all. Ordered 3 hard shell Tacos and water to drink. He said bottled? I said No, don’t you have regular water? He said No, so I ordered a Coke. What I received was 3 things that looked a little like Tacos, but were thicker and baked with a meat spread of something inside. They were almost baked closed with all of the Taco ingredients thrown on top of my tacos that laid sideways on my plate. I received NO FORK. I had to pry open the taco like thing and pick up the lettuce and tomatos with sour cream on it and stuff it inside the tacos by hand. The he came around and said if we ran out of our bottled Coke that he could give us some WATER to drink! REALLY?? The taco like things were very hot and hard to hold for many minutes. I felt like I was in the TWILGHT ZONE! Lunch was very stressful and messy and not all that good tasting. NEVER AGAIN WILL I EAT THERE! It wouldn’t help to complain because he didn’t understand anything anyway and he appeared to work alone. EAT THERE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

We ordered food to go and the chicken was so hard it was like it was sitting in the grease being cooked for hours,i was not edible. We were given a burrito but we ordered a chimichunga. When my husband called to discuss what happened with our order they tried to argue with us and was refusing to give us our money back. They did end up remaking our food but it was still not very good even with getting it fresh. My husband ended up going up there twice due to their mistakes. I went to email the owner but I cannot find an email on their website, I will look more into emailing management. We will not go back!

I've been waiting for Mr. Pollo to open for quite a while & the wait was worth it! I already had picked up their menu & my wife & I knew what we wanted. We had combo #1, a chicken breast & wing. With the combo you get, along with salsa & 3 tortillas ( either flour or corn) 2 sides. I got refried beans & 3 roasted peppers. My wife got Mexican rice & birrrio beans. The chicken is roasted, not fried & was awesome! Juicy, tender & flavorful! All the sides were very, very good. The salsas were also good. We will be back..

I went there for the first time and I thought it was just okay. The food was mid. I probably will not be returning. I went around 4 pm and we were the only people there the guy working was so into his phone that he got my order wrong and I had to go up and order more food. Because one of my kids didn't have any food when we got our food.

Yelp
Sitting in a little shopping plaza, this place was much better than expected. I had full intentions on getting nachos when I walked in, but then I realized they had the Charcoal grilled chicken that I haven't had since Pollo Loco in Maryland. I ordered a half chicken With french fries and Charro beans along with corn tortillas. The chicken. Flavor packed. Juicy. Fall off the bone. I haven't had this in forever and I have to find a place like this in Columbus. Just amazing! The young man brought out two bottles of house hot sauce. One red and one green and he warned me that both were hot so to use them sparingly. You can see the peppers in the red sauce and I tried it first on the chicken and oh my gosh!! I'm assuming they do all their own sauces because this was matched perfectly to the chicken. Charro beans. Almost soup like with chunks of pork (I'm guessing) and again they just had this home cooked touch to it, like it's been simmering for hours. Flavor all the way through, no need for hot sauce. French fries! I am definitely a Fry snob and these were better than my favorite Gyro place in Northampton, Pennsylvania. Crispy but not overdone, light and fluffy on the inside with the perfect amount of salt. Corn tortillas I swear these made by hand. Wrapped in aluminum foil, these things managed to stay soft the entire time. This place looks unassuming from the outside, but quality of food for the dollar, in my opinion, can't be touched. I spent $15 total for all of this food and that included a bottle of water. Plain and simple, when I'm back in Dayton, I will be stopping!

Yelp
We have drovr by a few times and I have seen locals have many good things to day. They were not wrong! The inside was bright and well spaced. Menu and such are easy to read and not confusing. The food...it was great! Good flavor and portions for sure! I saw they had menudo after i ordered, so I'll have to come back and try that. Chicken was juicy and the skin was soooooo flavorful. Yum! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Food was absolutely amazing and served fast! We got the steak nachos and Brea tacos both 10/10. Staff was super friendly and our food came out fast.
