"This is indeed a curious place; it’s set in a Grade I listed house in the shadow of the Minster and has a fun, bohemian style and a lively buzz. Well-priced dishes are full of personality and use local suppliers. Cooking mixes British and global influences – the sharing boards are popular." - The MICHELIN Guide Nordic Editorial Team

It's the sort of place I would like to open in London. Or anywhere really. I would say local ingredients reassembled and presented in an unusual way. Perfect portions, bigger than tapas, smaller than mains and perfectly priced. And the flavors... We got the pigeon pie (fennel seeds inside and the gravy oh...) and the Yorkshire pud with a sherry (we think) based gravy for the beef on top. Great wine selection to go with it. I would try the whole menu if I were living in London. If I happen to be in York again, that'll be my first restaurant choice! Delighted. And I'm definitely not a 5-star reviewer.

Tasty food and good value on special York Restaurant week deal so glad we went. Both starters were excellent (Cauliflower and cheese soup, and Lamb Koftas) Meat main was good (Pork), but veggie option a bit dry and underwhelming (mushroom pearl barley risotto). Out of the two desserts the Chocolate Parfait was definately a winner. Panna Cotta was too subtle an flavour. Wine options were nice and friendly staff. Luckily we were sat at a 'proper table', but many sittings were on high bar tables and stools which are a bit harder to relax in. Thought the standard menu was a bit pricey if not on the set-menu meal deal and best for meat eaters as there's not a great selection for veggies.

Amazing food, selection of wines, cocktails & sherries. We've eaten there twice. The second time had the 'surprise' menu, it was outstanding!!

Found by chance, brilliant find. English style tapas. Eat as much or as little as you like. Good food, great value. Excellent staff, attentive without being in your face. Go try it, you won't be disappointed.

Fabulous unique dining experience, smaller portions means you can try a few dishes with ease and have room for pudding. Staff are welcoming and helpful without being intrusive.

The atmosphere is cozy and you can feel really comfortable while enjoying food and beverages. They have fair prices and great service, very friendly staff. It's the kind of place you would go to spend sometime in a warm environment and enjoy the decoration as well.

Yelp
Came here for dinner recently after having dined at Star Inn the City the previous night. Mr. P's is a cute location - a more pub-y feel, with the intention being a small, shared plates kind of restaurant and bar. We had the rarebit, spiced cheesy chips, broccoli w/ chilli and pine nuts, and a Pig in a Pudding (one of the larger plates). Everything was done well and tasty, although not as stand out or memorable as our dinner at Star. That being said, I liked the more casual atmosphere, and they had an extensive gin menu. It was not busy at all on a Wednesday night, and the service was friendly.
