West Hollywood’s Acclaimed Kura Sushi Closes on November 26 | Eater LA

"A new spot called Mr. Rice is slated to take the small space vacated by Falafel King soon, though I'm not sure if it's related to a restaurant of the same name in Rowland Heights." - Matthew Kang

Google
Ordered Spicy Beef Hot Pot mild and oh boy does it have a kick. If you like spicy, order up!!! I also ordered the Braised Pig Feet with rice and it was devoured to the bone. If you like pig's feet, this is a must try. Will surely come back.

Google
I ended up getting tomato beef noodles. It tasted great and the lady who served us was so considerate and nice. She's very transparent with the wait times and catered to our every need. I will definitely be coming back!

Google
It's really delicious if you just drop in when you pass by!

Google
Awesome Yuunan Rice Noodles! I had this legendary “Crossing Over Bridge Rice Noodles” when I visited Chengdu, China in April. I couldn’t forget how tasty it was. I was looking for this, finally had a chance to get one. The broth was so wonderful, I enjoyed every bit of it. It is so hard to find so authentic regional Chinese food here in Southern California. I salute Mr. Rice Restaurant! Thank you!

Steven Z.

Google
My wife and I both had diarrhea the following day after visiting the restaurant. We ate nothing else on that day and that’s how we know. Their sanitary condition is not up to code. But I gotta say the noddle tastes pretty good, have to give them credit for that.

Jessie C.

Google
The Special Yunan Rice Noodle was really good. The broth was full of flavor, and had some light fruit undertones. One of the servers told me the broth was cooked for 10 hours using seafood so the flavor is very rich. I will definitely come back to try the Dry Pot as well-- there is a bar to do DIY Dry Pot!

Google
got the No. 1 rice noodle. i definitely recommend getting it. rice noodles and a bunch of other stuff in a great tasting broth! can ask for one free bowl of rice noodles if you want. cozy little spot, decent service

Google
Tasty! I'm sure that I will definitely be there again.

Yelp
Tasty rice noodles and bbq skewers! The place was dead when we arrived, except the owners eating outside with friends, and stayed dead while we were eating. There wasn't even a takeout order. But, we had an enjoyable meal. Service was friendly and the food was good; they grilled the skewers directly outside on a grill, which meant it took longer, but you could taste the difference. Would definitely be back, just wish I knew how they stayed in business!

Yelp
It's more like 3.5 stars but didn't wanna round up bc it's not really 4 star quality. This review is for a DoorDash delivery order. I ordered the veggies and meat rice noodle and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't spicy. Temperature was still good when I received the order (presumably 15-20 minutes from being cooked) PROS: - they separated the noodle and soup in that 2 in 1 soup container. - $13.99 as of July 2025 isn't too bad for the portion on a delivery order CONS: - soup was a bit oily - taste was a bit bland, might be better if I had vinegar, hot sauce or soy sauce.

Yelp
Love their rice noodles and updated menu with all the skewers! Their lamb skewers are delicious!! The outdoor seating looks amazing--definitely wanna try sitting out there sometime!

Yelp
Super authentic. If you want Spice you will get SPICE. The numbing spice is 10x more than your typical GUI BBQ. I loved their marinated beef tripe. I love that they cook it outside too. Really nice owners. I really hope they get the support from the Chinese community so they stay opened because I do like this place even though I prefer it less spicy haha
google avatar

Sunnie M.

Yelp
The food is ok, nothing really special and taste is a bit bland like homemade noodles. The staff were nice, though. It wasn't bad, but I would not return.
google avatar

Yelp
Food: 7/10 Service: 10/10 I will come back for the Beef Sirloin with Rice. also, service was super duper nice

David H.

Yelp
The stars are for portion size and price..however lacking in taste and meat overcooked. Pass by this place all the time and decided to pop in for lunch. Ordered a dry version and a soup version of the rice noodles both beef. Service was quick as only one there. Surprised by amount given I could only finish half. As rice noodles go not my favorite one. If you go consider splitting as bowl sizes are large . Worth a try once
google avatar

Yelp
Had dinner here last night for the first time. I loved the No.1 rice noodle I ordered, the soup base was really good. However, I think the meat was cooked too long and was a little hard to chew. Definitely worth trying if you love rice noodles.
google avatar

Jenette N.

Yelp
It was okay. The noodles we ordered were really bland, but healthy, I guess? Mine was a Dry Noodle, sadly it was mala, so numbing spice while also being bland and very 2 dimensional in flavor.
google avatar

Stella Y.

Yelp
First time here with friends because friends wanted to try rice noodles. It was very good . Huge bowl Got their spicy beef noodles and it was flavorful and spicier than expected. Still very good nonetheless.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been craving for rice noodles and Mr Rice sure did satisfy my craving! I ordered the veggies and meat rice noodle and I loved the noodle texture. The lady that was serving me was super sweet and nice! The only reason why I didn't give them a 5 star is because of the soup base. It is kinda salty but overall, it's still pretty good.
google avatar

Yelp
The noddles are pretty special and it is the traditional style Yunnan rice noodle! For those who doesn't know the Yunnan rice noodle story, you could read the following as your reference: During the Qing dynasty (1644-1912) there was a scholar who studies on an island of Mengzi city, Yunnan province. His wife made his favorite food, rice noodles, for him every day. But the noodles always got cold when they were sent to the island. One day, the wife found that the chicken soup she sent to her husband was still hot. She soon figured out that the thick oil on the chicken soup preserved heat. She also found that the rice noodles tasted better if not boiled together with the chicken soup. The smart wife therefore started bringing separated chicken soup, rice noodles and other ingredients to the island and combined them only after arriving at her husband's place. The rice noodles tasted so good that the cooking method soon spread across the city. Local people named the dish "crossing-the-bridge noodles" in memory of the wife as she had needed to cross a bridge to the island every day. Anyway, the yunnan rice noodle is pretty authentic and delicious! The price is also reasonable. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Mr Rice you got it right with those tasty delicious rice noodles. Located in the city of Rowland Heights this is inside of Yesplaza. I was here during lunch time and it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. I found this spot through Yelp and with so many good reviews on here I wanted to give this place a try! I'm glad I did because this spot is completely legit on how the flavor of the broth and the noodles taste. It was like a perfect harmony of balance like a yin and yang. The noodle bowl itself was huge!! Honestly I should of just shared it with my mom because in the end I only ate about a quarter of it. Don't get me wrong the food was actually super tasty and delicious it's jut that it's also really filling and portion size is gigantic! My mom also enjoyed the lunch and said it tasted just like it did in China. Overall a wonderful lunch and I'm glad we got to try this spot it. If you haven't been it's worth a try to experience authentic Chinese rice noodles from Mr. Rice.
google avatar

Nana L.

Yelp
Beef was too dry and the soup taste alright, service was ok, nothing would bring me back here. Not recommended, try elsewhere.
google avatar

Steph B.

Yelp
Don't go here if you want takeout. They don't let you know that they don't give you even soy sauce to go. When you go to sit to wait for your order, they take all the extra sauces and condiments off the table. Bull shit. This could've so easily. Been a nice spot for my husband and I to enjoy after his chemo.
google avatar

Yelp
Underrated spot! Great healthy and light dishes! They also have an option for a refill of rice noodles for FREE! My bf always takes advantage of this option because he LOVES noodles! The veggie and meat noodle soup has baby bok Choy, wood ear mushrooms, minced pork belly, and other veggies with a lot of rice noodles. Their portion is so worth it! The noodles itself don't have flavor, but the SOUP does. It's so fragrant, but light, yet very satisfying and comforting. Spicy Wagyu Beef - too spicy for my palette, but if you're someone who likes their food with a kick, I definitely recommend this dish! It's almost the same as the veggie and meat, but the broth is more intensified. Very tasty! The Wagyu beef slices are DELICIOUS. Can never get enough of it! This place should definitely be a go to on days you're feeling sluggish or ill. Mr Rice is super comforting and delicious. Ambience is great. They play piano instrumentals, so it's very calming. Lots of seating as well. Service can be better, but the food makes up for it

Yelp
Came here with my friend because the wait at banana bay was super long and was very pleasantly surprised. There was no wait on a Friday night and we were seated right away. I ordered the #1 Rice Noodle ($13.99) - Chewy rice noodle cooked perfectly in a flavorful clear pork broth. It is served in a heated bowl so make sure to not touch it while it's still hot. The ingredients comes separated in a bougie ceremonial type of vibe and they serve it to you. It was fun to see all the sides thrown in and kind of "made" in front of you. However, the amount of sides thrown in is a bit underwhelming for the price tag. I expected to see A LOT more of each topping if I'm paying that much for a bowl of noodle soup. I do love the fact that the soup has so much flavor but isn't oily. The pork belly in the soup is fatty and thin, sooo delicious! Really hit the spot on a windy night. On a side note I did think it was a littleee bit weird that the server wouldn't let me put the toppings in myself for "safety reasons". Not too sure what's dangerous about it - it's just like putting your own food in hot pot?? But I guess lmao.

Yelp
I love rice noodles!! And really happy to see another new restaurant in this Yes Plaza! Can u believe it? We came here 1 or 2 years ago, it was another clay pot dishes restaurant... the food competition in California is real! Back to the Mr. Rice. FOOD: 【No 1 Rice noodle】. 10/10. $13.99. I really recommend this one, and it was not only delicious but also fun! They have the very hot soup served to u with all the sides aside: from pork, quail egg, ham, to carrot, Chinese chives, corn and tofu skin, etc. It contains carbs, protein, meat and veggies! Then, they will ask if u want them all, if yes, the server will pour each of the sides in the soup broth along with the noodles, and here you can enjoy it!!!How cool is it! And the taste is great too! I love the broth, thick but not greasy flavor and the rice noodles is soft but chewy! My bf got the 【Veggie and meat rice noodle】, $8.99. I didn't try it, but it looks very healthy~ ATMOSPHERE: 10/10. It was not crowded on weekend night, and the space is bright and clean. SERVICE: 9/10. They won't come to take care of you unless u wave hand to let them come. But all servers were very friendly. PRICE: $. Quite reasonable price. Noodle soup is about $10/ each. PARKING: Yes plaza is always crowded, could be hard on weekends. We had no issue though. SUGGESTION: Wish they could add more cold dish on the menu.

Yelp
I have to say a home edition during these cold and rainy days hit the spot. Packaging is A1 since they separate the noodle from the broth. Allows you to boil up the broth at home if you're not nearby and serve it up boiling hot .
google avatar

Yun C.

Yelp
Overall good flavors. The rice noodle soup comes out nice and hot however I can't taste any difference between the No.1 and the mushroom rice noodle soup. Almost seems like the same soup or maybe it is. Noodle has a good al dente texture to it and not soggy. We got the peanut and seaweed appetizers which were both good. However the service was a little weird but I don't expect great or even good service from most Chinese restaurants. They first ask if we want to put in the condiments into the soup ourselves but then refused to let us do it when I said yes - so why ask? Staffs are not the friendliest. Since the food is good and no wait, I would come back.

Yelp
Mr Rice Yunnan Rice Noodle is a cool spot! I cannot believe they only have three stars on Yelp. I tried this place two Sundays ago (September 9th) and had a great experience. A perfect meal after a late night of drinking. The restaurant was pretty much completely filled around 12:15pm when we arrived, and the atmosphere was both lively and exciting. It would seem as though business is doing well. I had never been to a restaurant quite like this before. I really enjoyed the presentation, and how they put in all of the ingredients in your soup right in front of you. I ordered the number 1 rice noodle (~$14) and thought it was a decent value considering the large quantity and fresh ingredients. Service was very nice and friendly, as well. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place to others and come back myself. The soup here is very tasty and delicious. I enjoyed the noodles a lot. The restaurant has a clean, modern-ish feel to it, and they have a TV, which was playing some kind of wild animal show. While it did take a while for the food to come out, the workers were all really accommodating and caring. If you are in the area, give this place a try! It was a fun experience.
google avatar

Sherri Z.

Yelp
Mr. Rice replaced Clay Poq and now serve mifen among other noodles. I highly recommend their: -mifen: the presentation was beautiful and I thought the broth was good. It's not too salty and doesn't overwhelm the dish at all. However, for those who like very flavorful broths, this might not be your cup of tea. In that case I recommend their... -korean spicy noodles: I really enjoyed this! Great spicy kick from the soup and the noodles had good texture. Price $ Service: fast and friendly

Yelp
Wanted to hit Mr. Rice Yunnan up but I kinda needed help from my coworkers because their descriptions or something is kinda in Chinese... at least their descriptions are. I kinda didn't really need to because I just got their No. 1 Rice Noodle. Oh yeah, they have a soft opening special for 12% off (such a strange number) and if I remember correctly, you'll have to follow them or something on Wechat to get the promo. They brought out some fried peanuts that was really good. Flavorful. My dish came out quick and the employee (who I would also assume to be the owner) had all the ingredients in a box, with the soup and the noodles in separate bowls. He asked for any allergies, then started to put all the ingredients together (egg, tomato, carrot, onion, ham/ tofu skin, soybean, meat, pickled mustard, and some other stuff). What you notice first is that their broth is so flavorful. Very flavorful. I kinda wanted to add some hot sauce to it and they have a section in the back where you can get some sauces to add to it) - also where you can get the ingredients for the hot pot where you pay by pound. The noodles were nice, felt very slick and light. Oh yeah, you can get a free refill of their noodles. Their service was decent, they kinda forgot some stuff that we had and also notified us that they were out of noodles and needed to wait 10-15 minutes, which I found a bit funny since they're a rice noodle place lololol.... (I also never got my refill that I asked sob)
google avatar

Ellen G.

Yelp
One of the best Yunnan Guoqiao (crossing bridge) rice noodles I've had! We got the #1 original which included the meat and toppings that they add onto the soup at table side. I was genuinely surprised by how flavorful the stock was despite its clear appearance. Super full bodied chicken soup base with various pickled vegetables, bean strips, and meats! If you're a fan of even more flavor and not into the traditional plain noodle soup, I'd recommend requesting black vinegar and chili oil as classic topping ingredients. They also have a hot pot/malatang option where you can pick ingredients, and it is measured per pound and boiled in a spicy stock an brought out to you at table side! It was pretty good but the yunnan rice noodle was the clear star! Service was pretty quick and friendly! Pricey is a bit high but it really hit the spot on a cold day. I'll definitely be returning to try their other noodle dishes.
google avatar

Sandra Y.

Yelp
The service is meh , I think they try to cut down cost? So there's only one lady working in the front, cashier and server. The noodle soup is not ver presentable. I don't think I will go back, sorry!
google avatar

Jo H.

Yelp
The rice noodle was pretty good. We got the yunnan rice noodles for $9.99 and also tried out their malatang for $10.99 per lb. We originally wanted to tried their tomato rice noodle soup but that was $15 and I thought that was wayyy to steep for what it is. Maybe one day I'll bite the bullet and give it a go. Will come back to try their other rice noodles. As for malatang, I'll probably pass and go back to the hot spicy dip across street.
google avatar

Hannah L.

Yelp
3.5. The food was good, but it wasn't special enough to make me want to come back. Wouldn't mind coming back though. I got the kimchi beef rice noodle. I was a bit wary at first because it was marked spicy but the waitress let me know that it wasn't that bad and that's exactly how it turned out! They give you a generous amount of everything, but the soup at the end was too salty for me. My mom really likes this place and says it's easy on the digestive system. I like that the first refill of rice noodles is free - this helps from waste! Service was decent, but could be a little more attentive.
google avatar

Jason Z.

Yelp
Amazing tomato beef noodle. Slightly overpriced. Service is great. Environment is clean.
google avatar

June Z.

Yelp
My new favorite place for noodles now. I love how their soup are boiling hot and you can basically dump in raw meat and it will be fully cook in a few minutes. The rice noodle is really soft and the soup is awesome. The little chest that holds the ingredients is very cute but too bad they don't allow you to throw in the ingredients yourself - safety purposes according to the serve but i think they just afraid that we might damage the box The pot is pretty hot when they bring it out so be carefully. For #1 rice noodle, set a and c are the same soup based, just different ingredients to drop into the bowl. Set B is the tomato soup base with beef instead of pork so it is slight different but still good.
google avatar

Judy L.

Yelp
The restaurant was very cute and pretty small. The service was also good, as it wasn't busy. I ordered the No. 1 Rice Noodle. It came out with the ingredients separated and placed in a box. It was a very cute way to display the noodles. They bring it to your table and ask if you want all the toppings, then they will mix it for you in a super hot bowl. The soup tasted clean and not overly oily. It was nicely seasoned and had a strong pork flavor. The noodles were chewy and bouncy. The toppings were great as a contrast to the noodles, as they were more crispy and crunchy. The portions were reasonable for the price. It could easily serve as two meals.
google avatar

Kris W.

Yelp
Very tasty rice noodles. My favorite was the double chili fatty beef rice noodle. Not very spicy but flavor and soup was on point. I think they overcooked the rice noodle a little since it was too soft. The service is also very slow but I'm still really happy with the food and the portion is really filling. I would still come here again but make sure to order ahead since the wait is pretty long
google avatar

Erin T.

Yelp
Overall experience was not bad. Not sensational but pretty good. We ordered the #1 and #2. I personally think the tomato beef noodle had more flavor than the #1. There were two things that I wasn't thrilled about. One - the price is a little high for what you get. Something that simple really shouldn't be more than $10 The second thing is that when you get the tray of the all the side dishes, you don't get to add them yourself. They add all of the dishes into the bowl before serving you so you have to ask them if you want to take a picture. There are also some items I prefer not to be mixed in, like my pickled vegetables (they taste much better when I can actually find them and NOT mixed into my soup). I have an inkling that they don't have enough of those wooden boxes which is why they just throw everything in for you. The sides are also really small, like 4 pieces of carrot, two tiny slices of ham, etc. Service was surprisingly good and I would still come back.
google avatar

Vivienne R.

Yelp
The noodles are very yummy and the soup base was tasty! It did satisfy my craving. Recommend!
google avatar

Moon L.

Yelp
Scrumptious! I ordered the double chili fatty mixian, the rice noodle super silky, flavorful soups, good portions of beef, veggies, wood ear mushrooms. I will definitely coming back!
google avatar

Fong L.

Yelp
I came here on a hungry whim. I love noodles, especially the round spaghetti type. They made the noodles really soft and slippery. I like noodles like that. Plus they had a variety of items in the bowl such as Bok Choy and Fungi mushrooms along with a quail egg and rib eye beef. They did not skimp on the beef. I had ordered the double chili spicy beef noodles. You can also build your own bowl of noodles and select the items you want in your bowl. Their seaweed was good with a hint of garlic. It's a tiny place. Friendly service. Plenty of parking. I'd definitely return to check out the other noodle dishes and build my own.
google avatar

Dora T.

Yelp
First time here with my family and I thought their noodles tasted a little bland. We love rice noodles and have been going to Noodology and we wanted to try something new this time. I ordered the kimchi beef spicy rice noodle soup and my husband ordered the regular yunnan rice noodle soup. Both came with a lot of noodles but little meat. Perhaps we ordered the wrong thing? I think we will just stick with Noodology for now!
google avatar

Emily P.

Yelp
If possible I would give it negative. It s terrible and not the authentic Yunnan noodle. Please take this comment srsly or you will regret the every penny you spent. No style, no features.
google avatar

Majes W.

Yelp
Bomb ass noodle soup spot! Might be my new favorite! It's called Mr Rice as in rice noodles... there are no actual rice dishes on the menu. But the rice noodles are amazing you won't need actual rice. There's a choose your own selection in the back corner where you can select your own ingredients and soup type like shabu/hotpot style. Or you can just order from their premade noodle selection! Choice: A, B, H, and I are my favorites and are the must get!
google avatar

Adrianna W.

Yelp
This place has some bomb rice noodle soup! Noodles are amazing! As well as the soup , eating their noodle soup makes me feel healthy. Soup is light but flavorful. If you are craving some noodle soup, here's the spot you looking for! Loved it.
google avatar

Rana M.

Yelp
Food was good but the service makes it a -3 stars for me. Quite rude and asks for more tips even after we left it already. Not sure why after the only service provided was water with no refills and bringing the food. Needless to say won't be going back.
google avatar

Katy C.

Yelp
Got their A and E noodles to go. Quick and nice service. Both soups were amazing. Even my picky niece said it was delicious. Only con was I had read the English and chinese names of E and neither said spicy but the noodles came spicy. Other than that it was unexpected, the spice was still really good. I finished the noodle soup wanting more.
google avatar

Cindy T.

Yelp
The kimchi beef rice noodle is the best rice noodles I've ever tasted in a long time. You can tell the owner is very passionate about his food. Friendly staff and great customer service. Affordable price and they offer one time free refill on the rice noodles. Although I didn't need it since the portion is very generous already. The ingredients are fresh and cooked perfectly. Even the water they serve is filtered water, it has no taste like tap water which all restaurants serve. I completely fell in love with this place. It's located in yes plaza. By the way, the spicy pot was good too. I ordered togo for the first time. I would recommend dining in to make it taste even better! It's only been a week since my first visit and I noticed they got so many more customers than the first time I went. Pretty packed on 9:00pm in a weekday night. I will come back to try their other noodles.
google avatar

Judy P.

Yelp
Cool and cozy place. Interior is set up with taste. No. 1 Rice Noodle: Beautiful display. Soup is awesome. Noodle and indigents are good match. Spicy Pot: Soup, beef, tofu, tripe tasted great. We ordered twice... Service is great too.
google avatar

Tiffany K.

Yelp
One of the best noodles I have ever had in SoCal!! Their soups mostly based on tomato and mix with other ingredients so they are not that spicy even the item has 3 chilies next to it. But they are still very good!
google avatar

Zoe Z.

Yelp
Oops. It is taste like...lack of flavor and something. Environment is good. Pretty dead. Have couple tables customers. Maybe not the right time. Service is really good and attentive. The waiters warning us several times to be careful of the pot, it is really hot. And we try it. So very hot. lol Taste is whatever. I feel like lack of flavor. Seriously, taste nothing. Everything taste nothing except the soup. The base of the soup is very hot but all the other dishes and noodles are on the side. After serving, the waiter put everything in the soup in front of us. It looks very ceremonial. But I care about the taste. Even their was empty but the two waiters are standing behind the cashier all the time. Stand by for the service. I suggest to cook the noodles longer in order to get the flavor inside the noodles and others. Probably will not come back based on today's taste....
google avatar

Chaung R.

Yelp
I love this place; it's always my favorite when I don't know what to eat! But lately their food was not as good as before but it still my favorite
google avatar

You T.

Yelp
Not good --- presentation looks better in pictures; in reality when we dined in before pandemic restaurant was empty, food was ok, service was little rude.

Weiwei C.

Yelp
Worst service ever!! Menopause old lady there! No one is dining in they are all getting takeouts

Anna T.

Yelp
Got there at 8:24pm and nearly got turned away from table because they were close to closing (which is actually 9p apparently). And normally, even if customers are declined entry by 9p, customers can still sit and eat while the workers clean and close up. But we were pushed to scarf down food, were brought the bill way before we finished, and were brought takeout containers using gloves that had just finished wiping down tables. Food was ok (noodles may be a bit soft), but service was awkward and rushing makes food want to come back up.
