My son and I went to the Chinatown shopping right before Christmas. We bought two chicken skewers at Mr.Rice, thr size of one skewer is massive, we ordered two different flavor of sauces - Teriyaki and Spicy mayo. The chicken was very delicious, tender and juicy, the sauces were generously spread all over the skewers. we ended up bought more for the rest of the family to taste. We all loved the chicken so much and decided to order the skewers for our party. We ordered 26 skewers and they were gone so fast I didn't even have the chance to take photos. The manager "Sang" is very nice and helpful.

Google
The food and service were great! My husband got the bento box with 2 meat options, the shaved beef and pork belly, it was phenomenal! So flavorful. Really well balanced. I had the ramen, which was also sooo good. Really hit the spot. Would definitely recommend!

Google
The food is amazing! My whole family ate there, but I got the best dish which was the skewers. They had different options for the skewers, but they were so good. It should be noted that most of the food is deep fried or breaded. The sauces they use are amazing. The service is great. Very polite.

Google
The chicken skewer with sweet chili and supreme was fantastic! It was crispy, light, and the chicken was juicy, cooked to perfection! I found my new chicken skewer spot.

Google
The pork belly rice bowl at Mr. Rice is solid. Tender, flavorful, and a good portion. Comes out quick and tasty. Worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Google
Definitely better than Panda Express taste-wise. I tried the bento box with shaved beef and really liked it — flavorful, well-portioned, and satisfying. It’s located in the Asian mall, which makes it super convenient if you’re doing grocery shopping nearby. Solid spot for a quick and tasty meal!

Google
First time here. Great healthy lunch spot since they make most of your plate the way we should have our meal portions:) Loved all the veggies and sides they provide with the meal- a little more than a burger n fries lunch, but doesn’t gut bomb you to return to work… and you’re full of healthier variety food. Katsu curry was delicious! Thank you

Google
Excellent food! I ordered the spare ribs, and they fell off the bones. They were so soft and delicious. My husband ordered the curry, and he loves it, too. I highly recommend it!

Yelp
I've been wanting a teriyaki beef bowl and just happen to come across this amazing spot. The food is good, the service is on point. I have a new place to dine in Chinatown It's quite and very clean If your looking for healthy, whole food this a really good option
google avatar

Yelp
Good selection on the menu. The chef's special ramen was flavorful and semi spicy. The poached egg was a perfect touch. The chicken skewer was delicious! Teriyaki sauce drizzled across the top of the tempura chicken was delightful.

Yelp
My friend and I ordered bento #1 and everything was fresh with quality ingredients. I ordered the Japanese tonkatsu (fried chicken cutlet) with curry, and she ordered the teriyaki salmon. We felt like our meat choices were cooked "just right" -- not over or undercooked. The chicken and salmon were each served with a generous portion of rice, some pickle, and an assortment of salads. The first salad was an iceberg salad (not as pictured) topped with shredded carrot and a flavorful, light sesame vinaigrette dressing, then some sort of creamy corn and an elbow macaroni salad. Drinks were $3 apiece from their fridge -- otherwise there's no way to just request a cup of water. Bottled Coke, Sprite, Jarritos, Monster Energy Drinks, glass bottled water, etc. Mr Rice was reasonably priced. The service was quick, and the restaurant was very laid back. Nice and clean. The only drawback I can think of was that the music was really loud -- like, it was difficult to hear my friend across the small table. After we were finished, we were trying to get the attention of the employee/cashier from our table to ask a question. He couldn't hear us over the music. (We weren't sure if we should clear our table, or where to put our bentos)

Yelp
Went there to eat with my mom. We're both Korean, and we were disappointed with some of the food. I ordered the king katsu and she got the galbi. While the galbi was tender and well flavored, the same could not be said about the katsu. It was very bland and a little dry, despite the gravy on it. However, it wasn't inedible. Overall it was a nice place, but didn't meet our flavor standards.

Yelp
We went to Chinatown strip mall to finally check out the bakery my 2 fellow foodies have raved about buty boys were hungry for food while we were there so we happened upon this place. ESPECIALLY since the sign did mention a 2 meat bento type meal for around $16! We were pleasantly impressed with the presentation and the meal itself which we shared as a family of 4 since we were also trying out other food from the other eateries in this complex. You cannot choose the sides, you only choose the meats. It was very worth the price considering how many items you get. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
I decided to pop into Mr. rice for the first time today while picking up a couple of items in Chinatown. I've been meaning to try it for a while. Overall, I'd say the food here is just average. I got the two item bento box. There wasn't anything that was a big standout aside from the macaroni which had unique flavors. My rice felt like it had been sitting for a while and a bit hard. I got the pork belly and VIP braised beef and both of the meats were slightly over cooked and more tough than it was tender. You order from a kiosk and pick up your food at the counter. The restaurant overall is a small and casual space. If you're looking for a quick and easy option with a decent portion of food for the price, this isn't a horrible choice. Just don't expect the food to knock your socks off.

Yelp
Just regretting to eat here, hot pot better and cheaper, I was asking able to replace the food but they said no. Eat in-n-out better

Yelp
Super fast! Very delicious! The rice was exceptional. I just want to say that first off. I ended up having leftovers and I normally don't eat my leftover rice. It was still delicious even after I microwaved it. I was amazed. I got the two item "box lunch" Bento Box. I ordered the pork belly and tonkatsu. I was super excited, and I was not disappointed. The pork belly was well seasoned and flavorful, meaty and deliciously fatty just the way I like it the tonkatsu was thin breaded, and tasted amazing with the Japanese curry. I generally do not order curry, but I do love Japanese curry. I have never made it myself so I don't know why it is different but it is. The mains were served on top of white rice. I got a small side of edamame, an eggroll, a tempura shrimp, and two pieces of Gyoza with dipping sauce. The side items that come with it change and you do not get to pick the sides. when I went the sides I got were a yummy macaroni salad, a really delicious tofu salad that had small pieces of diced up crisp apple, and a side of what I think was shredded, pickled radish. Served in the middle was also a small salad made with tomato and broccoli. Very nice presentation. Luckily it's easy to take home since I had leftovers. My husband got the braised beef ribs. It was a good size portion. They tasted great. They were kind of sweet tasting which neither of us expected. All the appetizers and sides that were in my meal were the same that came with his he got a single item Bento box "box lunch". On several different occasions, I have purchased the sushi it comes premade, so it is easy to grab and go. I always get it for my daughter and not for myself. She has told me she enjoys it very much and has never turned it down. I only tried the shaved pickled ginger from her sushi selection and it was good. I am pretty picky about the taste of the pickled ginger. This was the first time we stayed to eat. There are only a few tables available, and you go to the counter to order. They brought our food to our table. Usually there is a tall gentleman helping at the counter. He is nice and friendly this day there was a young woman. She was very helpful and sweet to me as I may have been a bit much with my excitement. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Yelp
So was our 1st time going to Chinatown - which is pretty much just a strip mall. So, we wanted to try a couple different spots since this isn't close to where we live. Mr. Rice was one of them and it did not disappoint. I don't know if they always had that bento box special they advertised just outside their location but it was definitely enough for 2 people to enjoy. You only pick the 2 types of meat. The rest you cannot choose-- they had a standard for sides that could not be substituted. Just a few tables in here so we took ours to go since we were going to another location to try also. But yes, surprised about this spot and recommend!

Yelp
Good food, good service! Will be back. I got a noodle dish and it was really good. Friends liked their entrees as well.

Yelp
My family and I enjoyed this little fast service style restaurant inside China/ Asian mart in Murray. Seating area is very limited, but if you Togo your food they serve it in a little cute blue bag with your items nicely packed. Had the Earthy Hearty Curry. Consumer beware. The photos of this dish includes a pork Tonkatsu but in reality this is an additional add on for $5. I didn't know this the first time and assume it was included because the photo showed it and all I got was curry with veggies and rice. Overall I liked the flavors because I like a little spicy curry but some maybe more sensitive to it. Give it a try.

Yelp
Mr.Rice is finally open! They took over the Kpop dance studio space in the Chinatown Supermarket plaza. The same owner as Mr.Shabu owns Mr. Rice. I love Mr.Shabu and am so glad that Mr.Rice did not disappoint! It is going to be one of my new favorite restaurants in SLC. The space is very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Their menu is small but has a good amount of variety from rice bowls, lunch boxes, to sushi. Their packaging is super neat, they'll package your order in their branded bag and utensils. Food: I only tried their braised beef ribs today and I highly recommend it! There are not many places in SLC that have Galbijjim and I love Galbijjim so I was stoked that they have it! The meat was tender and falls off the bone. The price was reasonable for the amount of food they gave. Short ribs are usually on the pricier side due to the cut of the meat. It was just as pictured, all the same ingredients/vegetables as shown. Note: the short ribs order does not come with rice, and you can add toppings for additional cost. The restaurant just opened recently, so it is understood that mistakes can be made. I ordered rice sticks as a topping for my short ribs. But because it is a take-out-only restaurant, I was not able to check the order until I got home and realized the rice sticks were not added. But I called and chatted with the restaurant owner, he was very nice and apologized for the mistake.

Yelp
Was in the area and seen this place was contemplating and walked away. Nothing else enticed me enough to go there so came back and looked at the menu closer. For October was a different weekly special for the day so today Monday was teri chicken for $5 regular is $10 or 12. I also added a tonkatsu topper just cause for $5 more. Overall presentation is great and with it being sealed better for office etc as not to worry about spilling etc. Sides were ok little different, has taste and flavor. Can't mess up teriyaki chicken imo though. Tonkatsu on the other hand was meh for me. Very thin piece little chewy but ok to bite off pieces. I'd pass on that. If I'm wanting something like a bento to grab and go then I'd cone again next time I'm in town

Yelp
Mr Rice a new restaurant in Chinatown Supermarket plaza is delicious. Besides great and friendly service, the restaurant is clean with a fresh modern look .... I had the BENTO BOX with 2 meats (braised ribs/grilled unagi) the braised beef ribs was tender well seasoned delicious... I have to mention the side salad, whatever the dressing was. it was perfect ! It's not the typical carrot ginger dressing you get from most restaurants. The fried side selection of spring roll, shrimp tempura and fried dumplings was a good. Yum feels like I'm in Japan!!! I will return

Kayleen L.

Yelp
There is an art to simplicity. Mr. Rice gives the grace of a seasoned street vendor that has an unwavering commitment to convenience and flavor. There is no reinvention of the wheel here, only the reassurance that the wheel will turn, as it always has, to bring you back to this exact moment of satisfaction. Fancy restaurants may offer a dazzled dish with greens and foams, but they'll never outshine the sheer reliability of Mr. Rice. It is the vendor in the food lot that never fails you, the warm plate that reminds you that sometimes good food isn't about extravagance--it's about comfort.

Yelp
Tried this place today in China Town. It was just fine, I wasn't blown away by anything but nothing was bad either. My husband thought there was too much meat tenderizer in the beef and the idea of the katsu curry is good, but not as ideal in reality. We were starving and have been meaning to try it since it opened awhile back and it was the first thing we walked into when we entered China Town so decided to give it a shot. We got the bento boxes with 2-options and both tried the beef and curry katsu. The Mac salad has a very unique Asian spin to it and was actually great, everything else was good enough if you're looking for Asian fast-dining options. We enjoyed our meal, it's probably not something I'd get all the time but it's convenient if you're looking for a quick and maybe even a little healthier option.

Yelp
Mr rice is a brand new addition to slc Asian cuisine. It is a Korean Togo spot that specializes in rice dish. Do they have more than rice? Yes they do. The staff here is friendly. They answer any and all questions quickly. You can also take a peek inside the workings of the kitchen area as well. The beef rice dish I got along with the spicy rice was delicious. It's not as spicy as I thought it would be but it's very yummy. The beef is bulgogi beef. Very tender and packed with flavor. The beef ribs was amazing! It's has daikon and potatoes. The potatoes wasn't cooks as soft as I would like it, but everything about this dish is delicious. The beef was falling off the bones and the flavor was amazing. I got medium heat, but it was still lacking spice for me. I think next time I'd get the hottest one. I would definitely come back here to try out the different dishes.

Yelp
Costumer Service is very bad when we asked for another pair of chopsticks they said well you only meed one and then proceeded to roll their eyes

Yelp
This is the best fast-casual restaurant you've never been to. The staff is super friendly and helpful, they treated us like good friends. The food is delicious and presented with care and attention to detail. Highly recommend the Japanese curry. It's rich and flavorful with mild spices. Perfect over rice. Chicken teriyaki box had an assortment of veggies, rice and pasta salad that made a perfect lunch. If you have an Asian auntie, have her make you lunch, if not go to Mr. Rice it's just as good.
google avatar

Yelp
They decided to sell King Katsu. This is a great move. Finally something worth coming out here for. Great 왕돈까스
google avatar

Rachael H.

Yelp
I ordered the 2 item bento with chicken teriyaki and grilled unagi. The teriyaki tastes like boiled chicken. The unagi was alright. The gyoza (included in the combo) was mostly dough with a tiny filling. Same thing with the spring roll, mostly wrapper. I so wanted to like this place because of the reviews and proximity to my house. But alas, this Asian is very disappointed.
google avatar

Peter L.

Yelp
2 item Bento Box was very delicious had the Unagi and Crispy & Juicy Pork Belly, well worth the $15 special. The one thing missing was the Edamame as advertised. I still would recommend this eatery please 5 stars, done in, it's great cool and relaxing.
google avatar

Yelp
New place in Chinatown supermarket. Very clean takeout only place. Meals cooked fresh in 10-15 min. Had the VIP braised beef ribs- very tender beef on the bone. Got the non spicy and could have a little more flavor but still tasty. The tender beef and pork belly bowls were perfect amount of food, well packaged presentation that come in 2 layers, w rice and sauces, pickled vegis on the bottom, the meat and vegis on top tray. There were healthy and tasty. Will definitely be going back when ever we are in need of a healthy Asian option. Plan to try other menu items.

Yelp
So, we were craving korean..and I searched for Asian food on a Sunday.. and it was very rare to have Asian places to be open on a Sunday. Fortunately, i found mr. Rice. And what was more amazing, the price. They had a good enough selection and did I say price is amazing? Yes! We got sushi, salmon bento and beef bulgogi bento plus their specialty which was the braised beef. We were super excited to taste them. I think the To Go boxes were very classy too. But the best part, they all tasted superb. I'm so particular with flavor, and this one nailed it! Service was amazing and the place was extremely clean. They are located inside a small Asian mall weigh a grocery. So, if you haven't tried them.. then you should. Highly recommend them!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food quality and service. It's a hip spot to grab a meal, good seating, without feeling too crowded or getting too loud. The new sweet chili tofu bento box has great flavor, flavorful sauce, fresh ingredients. We also got cream cheese wontons which came out and remained crunchy, great flavor, warm to the last bite. Super fan in the making!
google avatar

Natasha A.

Yelp
Honestly I had low expectations but I was surprised. I ate everything...the cucumbers on the salad was yummy. Reasonable price.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
This was probably the worst Korean / fusion I've ever had in my life Why was the bulgogi SOAKING WET Why was the unagi just BONES I paid $30 just to toss the meals away and go next door to ri hyang I really wish I could receive a refund, so if the owner sees this, please contact
google avatar

Yelp
Reasonable price, fast and really yummy food! the rice bowl is delicious and the packaging comes with little motivational messages. Really cute!
google avatar

Yelp
I was skeptical but boy did they deliver! The food was excellent , presentation was elegant, service was efficient, and price was perfectly acceptable. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
So glad they're opening! I've been watching them built and kit out the spot and am so glad that they're show ready. The interior is incredibly sleek, love the branding, and attention to detail. We had the teriyaki chicken plate and the large sushi combo. It did not disappoint. Sure it wasn't Manhattan style - Yushi Yasuda quality sushi...but nothing in this town is. But it is the perfect quality for a quick stop sushi spot. The prices are insanely reasonable. 2 people, 26 bucks pre tip. Get you here and have some yummy food.

Susan A.

Yelp
A quick stop to pick up an amazing quality meal for a decent price! I love Mr. Rice! As a student at the U, it can sometimes be overwhelming to figure out meals. The ease of being able to stop by and pick up ready to go meals (that are tasty and at a great price point) was awesome! Sometimes I'll get sick of Chipotle bowls & want to change it up haha! This is perfect for that. There's a wide variety of different meals, so i'll definitely be trying all of them! So far I've tried the galbijim (medium spice), teriyaki chicken bowl & the sushi plate. They all were amazing and way better than if I attempted them at home! The quality and thought that went into the packaging also shows. It was all so well thought out & I appreciated the care and time that went into designing it! I love all the little details. I will be back & bringing friends to try it out.

Mike B.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the place was very clean,Service was very nice. Meal present beautifully, amount generous.

Yelp
Let me tell you, I love quick, rice-based dishes that are tasty, and comforting. I loved getting some food from here on a cold night, bring it home, and it tasted great. Definitely recommend the Katsu, it adds a hint of flavor to the curry. Overall, the curry was standard, but delivery And presentation of their to go. Order was great. Definitely were diner again. We also got their braised beef ribs, and those were delightful. Wish there was a little bit more of the portion size, but overall great. Thanks for a wonderful dining experience!

YeonJae K.

Yelp
Best asian food in Salt lake city. Great food and service! I got take out and the quality was still perfect by the time I got home. I would definitely recommend this place and come back. Can't wait to visit again!
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
I gotta say we found this really lacking in flavor. The packaging was amazing, but the food was meh. No extras like soy sauce and I was told that they only offer the sauces that come with the food. We had multiple entrees and all tasted the same....and bland. I won't be coming back.
google avatar

Emily N.

Yelp
Very cool new spot in the Chinatown Supermarket Building with nice to-go options. When I went everything was super cheap because it was still their soft opening. The restaurant is very clean and efficient, and the packaging looks very sleek and aesthetic. I got the pork plate, which was very good, and the sushi combo, which was just okay. For a to-go spot, I would say the sushi isn't "bad" but I do think the hot dishes were a lot better. Great quick and fairly-priced dinner option and seems reasonably healthy, too.
google avatar

Aj H.

Yelp
i come here all the time because the food is so delicious. I love all the sides, I think it's the perfect flavor combo. they have some of the best pork belly you can find in utah, so tender and yummy. all of their meats are great, love the presentation and how kind the service is every time we go. really recommend for anyone thinking if they should try

Hoho J.

Yelp
There was a service charge for no reason. It wasn't that much, but no one could explain what the charge was for. The food was not that great for the price. Shaved beef steaks were half onion and half chewy meat. I got cold sides. A dumpling and fried shrimp was way cold. I think they precooked those. Also, Donkatsu was cold, too.

Yel P.

Yelp
This place is so good!! I've tried several different things on their menu, and everything is delicious! I especially love the pork belly! It's tender and flavorful. The service is always fast and friendly. You've got to try!
google avatar

Joshua L.

Yelp
The food was amazing and generous. We've been bitten by places before that cost a lot but turn out mediocre but Mr rice did great. We had the regular short rib which says it's enough for two or three and we two had plenty leftover. The quality was great. If you wanted to buy a well prepared home style meal I would highly recommend that short rib.

Yuri M.

Yelp
I like the food, is clean the place, the service is quick and diverse food combos. I I like the the food and the food

Emma G.

Yelp
Mr. Rice is phenomena! me and my sister got a bento box and it was so good tasting! the food is so tasty you're sure to love anything you get. and the presentation is beautiful in the intricate box platter. personal favorite is the teriyaki and noodles. the cashier and service was wonderful. I even asked for suggestions and they gave me their favorite options. great service and help. The lobby is very inviting and has fun lit signs to light the cuisine. I loved my experience.

Yelp
I had a pleasant experience on my first visit to Mr. Rice, a relatively new take out "restaurant" in the Chinatown complex in South Salt Lake. It is a clean, efficient place with several rice bowl meal options. I ordered the pork belly bowl which was served in a nice heavy paper sack, with a string handle. Inside I found a serving container with a layer of the tasty pork belly, cooked cabbage, and broccoli with a couple of mushrooms and a cherry tomato. I started to eat this and thought it was quite tasty, but, then I thought "I thought I had ordered some brown rice with this dish". I then took a close look and saw that under the main course, a second layer of rice with some soy sauce and also a small container of pickled vegetables. I dumped the main dish into the rice, which was nice because it's not all mixed todether like at most places with a rice bowl. After adding a bit of soy sauce, the tasty dish was fully ready. I enjoyed it; the only thing I might have asked for would be some chili oil or such to spice it up a bit. But it was really fine without it. I was glad to find a new healthy lunch spot that gets your take out food ready in under 10 minutes. Mr. Rice, I'll be back!

Charles H.

Yelp
I loved how the food was nicely packaged! Also, food was great. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for a takeout Korean lunch or dinner.
google avatar

Winston B.

Yelp
Fast, delicious and reasonably priced. I got the Pork Belly Bowl and thought it was very tasty. The presentation is also very pretty and I loved the posh to-go bag that the takeout came in.

Sarah K.

Yelp
You won't be dissappointed! The food itself was so good and even the packaging is fancy.

Tessa P.

Yelp
Yummy Japanese food and the guy at the counter is always friendly. The bento box is huge and I love it!
google avatar

Kieran E.

Yelp
The salmon I got was grey and slimy, did not look cooked correctly at all, and had a funny smell. My friend's dish looked pretty good but the look of the salmon made me lose my appetite.

Jaehan P.

Yelp
As restaurant owner, I think I have to make foods that tastes good to me for sure. For that reason, I like the foods at Mr Rice and I can proudly recommend Mr Rice to you. Thank you so much all.
