The 20 Best Restaurants In Salt Lake City

"This Japanese hot pot spot is great for chilly nights before catching a Jazz game or after an art stroll at the nearby Gateway shopping center. Start with a couple of appetizers like the cream cheese wontons and Korean fried chicken, then dive into choosing which broth you want for your personalized table boiler. Servers will bring you meats like rib eye, boneless short rib, and lamb shoulder, but you can help yourself to vegetables like bok choy and glass noodles at the salad bar. There’s a seemingly endless number of sauces, so attempting to try each one will probably make you late for evening plans." - jenny willden

Went here with some friends once for a birthday dinner and it was an amazing first hot pot experience. There's so many options, the staff is incredibly kind and accommodating, and it just tastes sooo good. The meat was definitely my favorite part of the experience.

Google
Full 5 stars for me. I didn’t expect to find such fine Shabu place in Salt Lake City. Mr Shabu rivals some of great shabu places I’ve been to in LA and Vegas. My favorite broth is the Spicy Tonkatsu. It’s not on the menu, but you can ask the server to make it spicy. Going with appetizer sampler as suggested by server was a great choice. We got to try out all of them without overloading and still got to focus on the some good protein. Great meat and sauce selection. Beef was slice very thinly, perfect for shabu while remaining tender. Definitely a place worth revisiting.

Google
One of the best sushi experiences I’ve ever had!! I brought the family and we all loved it. Our server Edward was friendly, fun, and so helpful. He kept our drinks full and helped us decide which rolls to get. We got 14 rolls and only waited for 10-15 after ordering. The sushi was delicious. Some of the best I’ve eaten. Thank you so much!! We will be back for sure. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Mr. Shabu at The Gateway in Salt Lake is like if cultural appropriation went to therapy and came out as Asian fusion: healed, flavorful, and slightly confused. Also, possibly, bi-curious? It’s a hot pot fever dream where your chopsticks are your wand and the broth is your house elf. The vibe screams “we read one article about Japanese cuisine and now we’re experts,” and honestly, I respect the confidence. I have the same confidence when trying to show my son how good I am at long boarding, then I bomb a massive hill and end up in the hospital but at least I look cool doing it. Some of the meats looked like they were daring me to eat them, and naturally, I accepted the challenge. Is that beef? Is that pork? Is it sadness wrapped in soy? Gimme!! Who knows and that’s why I love it. I didn’t realize I was supposed to cook the wagyu until I was four servings deep and already giving a TED Talk to the table next to me about turtles and how they eat their babies sometimes if they need a snack before dinner. Now I’m just worried my intestines are going to file a formal complaint with my stomach, Jesus help me. 10/10 🐢 turtles!

They got the $5 sushi after 8pm deal and it SLAPS!!! Great atmosphere too. Definitely coming back. ❤️ Btw the Call911 sushi roll they set on fire! So cool! Also the Lion King Roll is THE BEST!!! Also our waitress Jini was so nice!

Mr. Shabu is a must visit when in SLC downtown. Our visit was during lunchtime. Joon (치 훈) was our waiter, and he did a great job explaining everything. Start with the salad bar and get a variety of mix ins for your hot pot. There's also a wall of ramen if you're looking for flavors other than the broths on the menu. The Gyoza (fried dumplings) and Tonkatsu (fried pork cutlet) are great appetizers to start with. Appetizers are included in the all-you-can eat price. For two adults and one beer, $61 is well worth it. Next time we will have an appetite for sushi.

Google
The meats here are extremely thinly sliced and that’s perfect for shabu shabu. They cook almost instantly and are delicious. Service was pretty good and quick to start, but deteriorated by the end of my meal when the restaurant got a lot busier. The pot is a little small, so that made cooking things a bit more difficult, I wish it was larger. There is also a variety of sauces available at the sauce bar, although unexpectedly even the sesame sauce was sweet. I did end up liking the sweet sesame sauce and the sweet and spicy sauce the most. They also have a wall of different ramen packs that you can cook, but I opted against doing so and stuck with the meat and some items from the self serve area. There were most of the standard items you’d expect in the self serve area, although there weren’t as extensive tofu options as I would’ve hoped, and notably missing was quail eggs with regular eggs available instead.

Google
A very well priced all you can eat shabu shabu. Restaurant is clean and tidy, the staff are quick and attentive. I tried the spicy broth and it didn't disappoint! They had a great selection of vegetables, meat and sauce/toppings. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great all you can eat hotpot!

Yelp
Probably the best restaurant in SLC! Ahhhh, nothing like shabu on a cold, gloomy day. Or a hot summer day for that matter. Reservations - website says they must be made 24 hours in advance, and as of today, you have to call. There's no online booking option. Parking - street parking surrounding a cute shopping area. You may have to fight for your life during peak hours. I really enjoy this place for a few specific reasons: 1. The buffet bar options are CLEAN. It looks CLEAN whenever I have been here. 2. It's still affordable. Meat quality isn't phenomenal, but it's enjoyable and still good value for dollar. 3. Servers here have been exceptional and kind each time. Very cute wall ramen bar as well. Must visit for any local.

Yelp
First time visitor on a weeknight for dinner. Arrived when they opened at 5pm. Ambience was nice. Staff were friendly. Bathrooms were clean. Food bar looked clean. Service was quick. Wasn't feeling the concept. Didn't want all you could eat anything. Still, I went along with the group. Sushi portions are a full roll. Potstickers were good as was the edamame. Didn't peruse the other hot pot option. If I'm going out to eat, I don't want to have to cook my own food. I wouldn't return bc it's not my jam. Others in my party enjoyed it.

Yelp
I am a solo traveler coming from CA. My expectations for hot pot are pretty high and this is 10/10 my go-to when I visit Salt Lake City. Great service and quality of food. I can't speak for the sushi, since I only ordered hot pot by preference. However, I would definitely give it a try. Thank you! :)

Yelp
This is my second time in Utah and both times I've been here for a snowboarding trip I had to stop at Mr Shabu. It's an all you can eat shabu place with multiple options of meats appetizers and drinks. We got here right at 8 pm where they have a sushi special for the first 30 people. The rolls are only $5! You can't beat that. We got the wagyu roll & Las Vegas rolls and tried almost all of their meats for the shabu. The appetizers were a bit underwhelming except for the cucumber salad and the corn cheese. But you of course come here for the shabu and sushi, which was delicious. The server was attentive and to top it all off they have a ramen station where you can choose from a variety of options

Yelp
Dinner for 4. - Ambiance (3*) Kind of nondescript. I didn't love the high table height relative to the seats. I half wondered whether it was intentional, so your arm would get sore halfway through dinner, thus discouraging eating. - Service (5*) Super friendly and fast about getting you subsequent orders of meat. - AYCE, $31.97 (5*) The broth itself (I got tonkotsu, kids got miso) were good. Not the best I've had but good enough. Great sauce choices, though I wish they had a larger single saucer than a 3 saucer option for those who know exactly what they want. Napa cabbage and bok choy were super welcome. AYCE Manila clams? Yes please. The short rib made this 5* though. Sliced thinly. Very marbled. Appeared to be fresh not frozen. Each tray comes with 4 slices. I had 20 trays! Kids left full, I left full. Very satisfied. - Value (5*) Kids 5-10 are $15.97. Kids under 5 are free. The adult buffet at $31.97 is awesome considering the high quality meats, seafood, and veggies. - Final Word Shocked to find this gem in Salt Lake City of all places. Anyone visiting from CA who thinks we have it good here, stop by Mr. Shabu. You may be pleasantly surprised. We will definitely return next time we are in SLC.

Yelp
The hot pot was delicious and service was great. The waiter took time to explain how the hot pot and vegetable bar work. It was tons of food and we left well fed. The restaurant was fun with a lively ambiance. I highly recommend checking it out!

Yelp
If you're looking for a fun, unique, delicious, and social experience for dinner, Mr. Shabu is a great bet! If you choose do the shabu menu, which is pretty much like a build-your-own fancy ramen, there's an incredible selection of broths, noodles, meats, vegetables, and toppings to make something that is delicious as it is beautiful. I was actually shocked to find that the sushi is excellent as well. Lots of variety, great flavor, and they don't skimp out on the quality or quantity of the fish. I highly recommend the "Call 9-1-1" roll. You'll know why I recommended it when the server brings it to your table. :) You'd have to go back several times to feel like you've tried even half of the many options available, and I certainly plan to.

Yelp
Excited for some soup in the Winter! We got here on a cold Saturday night, and it was packed! 30 minute wait for us, and we got seated a bit early. The all you can eat seafood and veggies are easily accessible, and the quality was good. I loaded up on Shrimp and crab, so that was worth it. The soup base were great. I really enjoyed the sukiyaki and the galbi bone broth. Although, too much seafood can change the flavor of your soup. So be wary of doing too much with seafood. The meat options sounded great, but we didn't get to try much of them. Most of the beef items were out of stock, so we ate mainly pork slices. We got tired of the pork eventually, so it was a bit of a let down. I would recommend their signature sushi dish and the cheese corn. I would avoid the Korean Fried Chicken. It was cold when we got it. The servers were really kind and nice. I can see they were overwhelmed with the crowd, however they were doing their best and being attentive.

Yelp
An amazing place for sushi ayce! I loved that they have sashimi options (many sushi ayce only have rolls or a few nigiri options to fill you up with rice). My favorite was probably the salmon sashimi with jalapeno and ponzu sauce. The salmon was SO fresh, and I loved eating it with the condiments and sauce. There were a lot of people there on a Friday night. We had to wait for like 30 minutes before we got seated. The place was pretty new and clean -- the bathroom, too! Moreover, I have to mention their outstanding service. The manager was very friendly and checked on us every so often - and even though sometimes we had to wait a long time for the food to arrive, the manager came and apologized, and let us order more than three items so that we didn't have to wait as long.

Yelp
Came here during happy hour (past 8pm on a weekday) with my family, and we were pleasantly surprised that this meant all rolls were $5. Originally, we were going to go for the AYCE hot pot option, but there's no way that we can pass up a deal like this...and we are so grateful that we didn't. Absolutely *insane* value--for every single roll on the menu. We arrived right at 8pm with no wait and were immediately seated There were so many options to choose from--everything from tuna, salmon, tempura, and wagyu. I'd say expect to order at least 2 rolls per person to feel satisfied, but we averaged 3-4 rolls per person because we were on the hungrier side As a whole, the rolls were generally quite high quality (especially heeding the price). While they were on the smaller side, I'd say all of the ingredients were quite fresh. Apparently, the sizes are the same, regardless of it being happy hour. The sashimi was not fishy at all and all the rolls were plated so well. My one piece of feedback is to use less sauce, as sometimes I had to scrape it away because it was too overpowering. Highlights included the Titanic (salmon, cream cheese, jalapeno), Call 911 (in the aluminum foil and lit on fire...reminiscent of a baked Lion King roll), and the Seattle roll The staff were so attentive and food came out in less than 15 mins. Great spacious eating area, lighting, and decor

Yelp
This was our first meal right after we landed at SLC. Dinner AYCE was 30$. Ive been to a lot of hot pot AYCE and I like their food quality. There is not a lot of meat/appetizer choices but whatever they have are of good quality. I like the service as it was prompt and friendly. Our server was attentive and kept checking on us. I like the area as it wa s spacious and they have a nice music playing in the background. I think we got our money's worth. Good thing we gave it a try

Yelp
We came here because a friend recommended this place and it was amazing! Never been to an Asian restaurant where you have the opportunity to cook your own buffet. You get unlimited appetizers, you choose your broth and meat with your server then go to the buffet to get everything else you want. Whether it's seafood, tofu, noodles, veggies, etc. The food was full of flavor , the options where incredible, our experience overall was amazing! We did show up close to the restaurant closing but the server never made us feel like it was a burden. His service was outstanding! Friendly, attentive and provided us great recommendations. To top it off the restaurant was really clean. It was incredible to see how clean a buffet style restaurant was. Gratuity was added to our party of 5 but I didn't hesitate to tip extra , it was that good!

Yelp
My first time doing hot pot in the US, and I was not disappointed. Service was great, location was wonderful and the food was fresh and amazing. Enjoyed it thoroughly
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
One of the cleanest and nicest hot pot restaurants we have been to! The meats were nice and fresh. They are not sitting out in the open at a buffet like how other hot pots have theirs. I like how we have to order the meat directly from the server. This prevents the meat from being in a frozen form. There was a huge selection of vegetables, seafood and other ingredients. There is a large ramen noodle wall where customers can pick their noodles. The broths were really tasty. We will definitely be back when we are in town again. Parking was easy for us because there is free street parking on Saturdays.

Yelp
All you can eat shabu shabu with a buffet style ingredient bar! I love these types of places and this one did not disappoint! I got the Korean spicy broth which wasn't that spicy in my opinion. We also got some sides, chicken and fries, which are also unlimited! Great selection of fresh ingredients and delicious food! Definitely recommend this place if you like hotpot!

Yelp
My son chose this place for his birthday dinner on his birthday and wow what a disappointment. I made a reservation days earlier but we still had to wait. This was my son and I ever trying hot pot and reading yelp reviews, we chose this place but service was not good and made our whole experience bad. I told our overworked server it was my son's birthday in which he could care less. I also informed him that we had never hot potted before and needed as much info as where to one point of the night he just pointed to the instructions in the menu. Well not very helpful when we don't know why our soup is boiling over and how long to put food in for. He hardly came around for refills or to clean up empty plates. The broths were fine and the meats but let's just say we both left hungry because when we finally got the hang of cooking we were cut off. Servers really are important in these types of restaurants and it looked like a lot of regulars so I think they assume everyone knows what to do. I would go back for a better experience but my son was even more disappointed as they didn't do anything for his birthday, not like I was expecting it. Place is busy BTW and the fresh bar can get congested. Fun atmosphere. Located on the south end of gateway mall by hallpass.

Yelp
Very nice to core and a good place to take a date. Food was good. Service was a little lacking, but it's a self service buffet. Can't expect too much.
google avatar

Yelp
We went for sushi and waited so long that they brought us free appetizers. The problem was after eating the apps by the time the sushi came we didn't have a lot of room left for sushi. The problem then being that they don't let you take food to go. So it was really a night of appetizers.
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
Love this place. For a non-fish eater like myself, their wagyu steak roll is the bomb and I love the appetizers!!! Such a great spot to go with friends. Service is always incredible and you cannot beat the price!
google avatar

Rose H.

Yelp
We did the all-you-can-eat sushi instead of the hot pot and we probably should have done hot pot instead. All of the sushi items taste the same-- like mayo. Everything was doused in mayo and a sweet sauce that ruined the sushi. We felt heavy and weighed down after eating. However, when we looked at other patrons' food, we drooled a bit over their hot pot. Next time, I'll skip the sushi and do hot pot instead.

Yelp
I am a dedicated Ombu hotpot customer, so that is my baseline for reviews. This place... is not good nor bad but I wouldn't replace my weekly visits to Ombu for this. What's better about Mr. Shabu compared to Ombu: - Broth flavor - Utensils to cook and fish the food out of the pot - Korean side dishes - pickled radish, kimchi What's disliked about Mr. Shabu compared to Ombu: - Pricing. It's a big $$$ difference - Parking - I hate paying for parking garages and it's required to get to this restaurant inside Gateway Mall - Lack of variety to pick up and cook (mostly just vegetables and cheap shrimp or fish balls... no fried bean curd, no lotus root, no other seafood) - Sauce station: Why is there no oyster sauce? Why is there no cilantro (they had cilantro in the self-serve section for food that needs to be cooked and it was near raw ingredients). Those two are essential for my hotpot dipping sauce of choice. The peanut sauce I tried was gag-inducing... - One of the entrance doors is locked but the other isn't. Save the embarrassment and pick the right door.

Yelp
Loved the broth choices. Never seen any place that had Galbi broth like this one - very good flavor. Their veggie/noodle/seafood/sauce bar is very clean, and they have the coolest top ramen "convenience store display" if you want to add any of their selection to your broth. Price point is good in my opinion. Especially coming from California, I'm not complaining about an under $30 AYCE hotpot meal. If you want AYCE sushi to top it off, it's just an extra $10 more per person. I liked their sushi rolls for the most part. The sushi wasn't overly wrapped with rice, and the size was good to eat in one bite! Lion King Roll wasn't baked though, so that was weird. During lunch, sushi isn't AYCE, but they discount their sushi 30% off if you order any rolls. Service wasn't bad. Our server was friendly, but a little forgetful at times. I wouldn't recommend their Korean fried chicken - it was super dry and tough to eat even though it was saucy af. Enjoyed the fries that came with it though. Their meats get served on small stackable trays, which they only give you maybe about 4-7 sliced per tray. I liked how thinly sliced the meats were, and I guess I'm not mad that they serve you that much meat at a time - helped me portion better, even though I overate with the sushi.. My suggestion is to forgo the corn cheese. That was pretty disappointing. Give this place a try though! For an AYCE shabu/sushi spot, I'd say this is the spot to go to. :)

Yelp
Was not expecting much since it was at the gateway & seemed maybe a bit Americanized but I think it's the best hot pot experience I've tried anywhere. Most hot pot places I've tried is 1 pot&broth for the table, but here each person gets their own broth from a choice of 4-5. They have a few other types of nontraditional/uncommon broths too like tonkotsu & galbi bone broth. & it's all you can eat too (which i haven't seen before) so if u finish it all, u can try a different broth. The selection of veggies/seafood from the bar is vast & fresh. This is the most impressive part of the place to me. You can also choose from 9 different cuts of meat. I love meat but the huge variety of other ingredients was what made the soup great for me. Bc of this seems more Chinese style than Japanese, & the only Korean thing I could notice about is the free yakult (yogurt drink) at the end (& kimchi). If ur new to Shabu, the menu is very clear & helpful, even for me whose had it several times (even have pics & diagrams lol). For the meats, you order in rounds from the server and they bring small portions of it which I appreciate as you can try more. For the buffet bar, they used to have u go grab what u want but during COVID the servers would grab it for you so I'm not sure how it is now.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about Mr Shabu. So many things are right. Excellent service. Great atmosphere. High quality vegetables and proteins. I was surprised by the quality of the meat given that it's AYCE. That said, the sauces are pretty awful. I judge a Shabu restaurant on its Goma. Goma should be earthy, not sickly sweet. I've been eating Shabu Shabu for 30 years and have tried a lot of different Goma sauces. I've never encountered one that could be a dessert. It was gross. All of that sweetness completely killed the flavor of the meat and vegetables. Although I was very impressed with the meat and vegetables, and the service was stellar, I don't think I'd go back because of the sugar sweet sauces.

Yelp
Delicious! The broth was really tender. Like you know. The meat too was really good. It was a really good place to eat. Really nice people and good sides.

Yelp
Yelpers YELP! In Utah visiting family, of course I have a LIST of spots to hit while I'm here 'cause I'm a foodie. This gem was NOT on my radar but my daughter in love suggested it. Where do I begin? Service: shout out to our guy Ji-hoon who gave us the ins and outs of HotPot and provided impeccable service! There were seven in our party so we had two tables of hungry folks plus an infant. He kept us all completely covered. My son ( who's a Chef...Iykyk) commented on his abilities and told him so! Ambiance: Awesome, clean, inviting. Located in The Gateway, which is awesome in itself. We actually walked because my family lives across the street. Friday night crowd wasn't too bad but we did wait for seating for about 10 minutes. Food: WoW! Awesome menu. We all got the "all you can eat" which included "all you can eat" appetizers for $30 a head. For another $10 you can add sushi...Incredible! Every item on the salad bar which included fresh mussels, shrimp and blue crab, even tofu, shrimp balls, fish balls...All the vegetables, sauces, noodles and ramen you could ever want, fresh and well stocked. Listen, there's nothing I can write here that would do this place justice. Absolutely put this place on your list if you're ever in Salt Lake City and if you live nearby and you HAVE NOT been here? You need to be good to yourself and experience Mr Shabu

Yelp
My friend spoke highly of this place for their hotpot, but I wanted to try their sushi so that's what this is gonna be about lol Their hotpot is cool too. I noticed there's more than one hot plates on the table, and the server said each person gets their own bowl so that's a huge plus!! The veggies and other stuff for the hotpot is buffet style and you get to choose what goes in your bowl. The sushi is only $29, but this place gives me a $$$ vibe. Servers are dressed and trained well. Sushi was good and we had a great time dining here P.s.: salmon sashimi was a little fishy

Yelp
Food was good, but I found my sweater has so much stain after I got back to the hotel...it was placed behind my chair the whole time and I have no idea how they dripped on the sauce on my sweater, super mad.

Yelp
My group and I had an amazing experience during our visit, even though it was cut short because of the restaurant closing time. We arrived after 8pm but had a long wait time because of a viewing event for Sundance at a nearby theater. The location was very busy and we did not get seated until close 9pm. It was many of our groups first time experiencing Hot Pot so we were unsure of what to expect from this concept. Once we were seated and able to select our broth for our pot, it was go time. I really like how each person gets there own pot, compared to other concepts that may have a shared or split cauldron of soup. The food bar was excellent. Very well organized and stocked with a wide variety of vegetables, seafood, noodles, and sauces. When our server returned we just had her bring stacks of trays of sliced meats so we could try them all. We also had them bring app sampler trays and some sushi rolls for the table to share. We had a larger group so we ordered what we knew we could eat so we would not waste any food. We were kind of bummed that our experience was cut short due to the restaurant closing at 10pm. Unfortunately this area was busy on this day so next time we will make a reservation and arrive early to fully experience our meal. I can't wait to go back! Enjoy!!!

Yelp
Tonkatsu broth and prime beef chuck eye were both really good. Service was super good here as well! The staff is super nice. Lots of options at the salad bar. Cucumber salad was just okay.

Yelp
This review update is very overdue. I have been to Mr. Shabu a few more times since their soft opening and it is a good option for Hot Pot, specifically if you're in the downtown area, but also if you want the most upscale feel. My biggest complaint about Mr. Shabu and why I would typically pick a different option these days is that their sauce bar is both quite limited in options and is prone to congestion. It makes it even worse that for an average height male you have to lean over to get to the ingredients in the back but for a shorter person and many women you are going to really have to strain to reach the items in the back. Like you're gonna have to put your chest in the soy sauce if you want to get some peanuts from the back type of situation. I mentioned the limited options for the sauce bar and the most glaring for me, at least on my last visit, was that there was very little to spice up your sauce. No crushed chilis, no chopped Thai chilies, no chili oil. That's a pretty huge bummer for me. Just like the sauce bar I'd say they have one of the more limited ingredient bars in town. They do keep a few items like halved crabs and whole shrimp, at least the times I've been there, but overall I think they have the least variety of any of the hot pot places I've been to lately. If you are downtown I think this is the spot, so if you are visiting the area don't let me scare you away unless the idea of a crowded sauce bar and lack of spicy options is as much a deal breaker for you as it is for me. If you go down State St to just past 35th South there are a couple of options that I like better. OMBU Hot Pot and Top Pot are both a better choice, if not quite as upscale in ambiance they are far more upscale in options.

Yelp
Came here after checking in to hotel and was immediately greeted upon arrival. Our server was friendly and explained the experience since it was our first time. There are a lot of food options for everyone vegetables, seafood and 4 steak options during lunch. The experience and food were tasty and definitely an experience to try. The inside of the restaurant is welcoming and nice music playing at an appropriate level. If every in the Salt Lake City downtown area recommend coming as its a great all you can for the price.

Yelp
$31 all you can you eat shabu shabu?! Wow we had a very pleasant dining experience for that price. Meat was fresh and great (No. 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7) ; salad and ingredients bar was big and pretty much covered all the normal shabu ingredients; service was friendly... I mean if it wasn't the AC issue in our dining area (it was 100 degrees outside), we could have stayed longer and eaten more plates of beef. Soup base wise - we tried 4 different options and agreed the beef bone was the best flavor wise. Don't forget to make a reservation. I did that the night before our Sunday night visit and got seated right away.

Yelp
The food is to die for. It's so clean and yummy. I can watch so much here and feel fantastic. The staff are very friendly and very good at checking up on you. I'm obsessed.

Yelp
It's about time I update my review here. Since covid, I've come back a couple of times and my experience is much better. The food and service are great! My last dining experience here, I came with 4 other hungry people and we ATE! I felt like we asked our server to get so much stuff for us and even suggested other plates that we may like. With our AYCE dinner, for an extra $10 AYCE sushi was included for the entire table. So worth it! I loved their nigiri! Their rolls are wet from being drowned in their sweet sauce. Our rice would fall apart from the dish to our mouth so I didn't care for the rolls. Our server recommended their "Call 911" roll which is wrapped in foil and torched. Cool experience, but again, it was really wet and sweet. The beef is thinly sliced so you can dip it in your broth a few times or let it overcook and eat it immediately. Very high quality cuts of meat. They also have lamb and wagyu if you like those options. It's best to call and make reservations. No sane day reservations though I tried emailing them as stated on their phone recording and have yet to hear back. They say you can also make reservations on their Instagram page, but since their emails didn't work, I just figured calling them worked best.

Yelp
Very delicious! The soup mix combo is tonkastu and spicy! The freaking best! We got the sampler which was a very yummy starter! The service was amazing. We weren't sure what meats to pick and all the meat suggested were perfect! Ambiance was very welcoming and helpful. Will definitely return!

Yelp
Went again recently with a friend from work. I've been trying to learn Korean and wrote Thank You in Korean on my receipt. It was fun to see how excited our server was. I didn't know how to respond and it made me smile. The food was great as normal. I had to wait a bit for some ingredients because it was a popular item among the diners that day. I did have a little issue with the hostess when I walked in, but our server cleared that all up. The restaurant was busy, but it was fun that day.

Yelp
This was certainly an interesting experience. My wife and I came here with virtually no knowledge of what a "hot pot" is. We were happily surprised to find out that it's an all you can eat environment. The cost is about $30 a person, which isn't bad considering how much steak you can get. Because this was my first time, I made a few mistakes, so hopefully you can learn from them: I got too many things from the salad and seafood table. I had thought that you just filled the broth with all the ingredients and then dumped it all out into a bowl and ate it all like a soup. This isn't really the case. You're really supposed to just use the broth to cook the meat and other ingredients, and then pull them out to dip in all the sauces available. So I ended up with a bowl of soup and ingredients that was absolutely ginormous . Next time I go, I'll get minimal things to add, and then be able to get more meat.

Yelp
We came for an early dinner around 6 pm and parked in the garage which is located conveniently next to the entrance. We were able to get seated right away, but by 7pm the restaurant was pretty full. I got the spicy soup, they come out with the meats pretty quickly, the meats are really thickly sliced, which I did not really like that much. The meat does come out quickly, but there is no button to call for a server so you have to wave them down every time you want to order meat. It is not that convenient. The interior of this restaurant is really nice and clean, the vegetables / seafood / sauce section is also really clean and nice. The seats are super low, which make it really difficult to eat because your elbows are really high up on the table. It was not that comfortable eating here. The food is good but the dining experience was not that great, I probably will not be coming again even though I enjoyed the food.

Yelp
Visiting SLC and looking for a good place to eat. I love shabu so when I Yelped "dinner" and saw Mr. Shabu, I was all for it! The Gateway is a beautiful little shopping area for a restaurant to be in. When I walked in I was kindly greeted and seated. They have an all you can eat menu including appetizers. So I ordered gyoza and cucumber/seaweed salad. Then went to the salad bar that you can get all your veggies, sauces, and bases (except they don't have rice at the salad bar so I had to ask for it. They have a great assortment of sauces and veggies. I asked for rib eye beef, waygu beef, and short rib beef. The short rib and the rib eye is the best that they have. Their service was great, checking in regularly. Food was great, everything tasted good (except the cucumber/seaweed salad was a bit weird for me from what I'm used to. This is a spot I would definitely recommend. If you're in town and around, you'll totally enjoy your experience!

Yelp
We were out to celebrate with family and friends. We had reservations for ten of us and they were able to accommodate our large party. This restaurant is very clean and the selection of items can't be beat. All the veggies are fresh. They keep the seafood properly chilled. They even have wagyu thinly sliced as an option. The toppings or dipping sauces are quite tasty too. Their appetizers were great! We really enjoyed the different broths available. For the veggie lovers, there is a veggie broth available too. It was very tasty, not too salty either. This restaurant has fun K-Pop music to listen to while you're enjoying your delicious meal. The customer service was top notch too. Really glad we came here to celebrate!

Yelp
Having tried all of the AYCE hot pot/shabu shabu in the valley, Mr. Shabu remains my favorite. The quality, freshness of their food, and service just can't be beat. I would much rather wait for an hour to eat here versus going anywhere else. On top of that, I just really love the communal experience, everyone has their own way of cooking things and concocting some unique sauce pairings. Came by for lunch today, and everything was great as usual. Granted I don't typically eat the appetizers and just tend to stick with the meats and veggies. My go to is the karubi eye and the pork belly with either the sukiyaki or the bone broth. I also really enjoy eating my weight in cabbage, bok choy, and all the different types of mushrooms and noodles (the potato pasta is surprisingly good but you can never go wrong with udon). What elevates all the things that you cook is the sauce, my favorite is sacha (Chinese bbq sauce) mixed with a little soy sauce with garlic and green onions, it's so delicious on meats/seafood. Even my extremely picky, "nothing is ever up to her standards" aunt commented about the freshness/quality of items and asked to be brought back next week IYKYK

Yelp
Let's start with the music...ON POINT! When you can jam and sing at diner it's an added benefit. The sushi was very fresh and the portions were perfect. I had the Titanic and Black Dragon and they were popping with flavor. The rest of the table did hot pot and it got lent from singing as everyone was chowing down. Considering we had a week of kisses with food this was the perfect ending to a great vacation in Salt Lake City.

Yelp
Love this place. Always delicious with great service. Salad bar is always well stocked and they bring out the meat quickly. I'm a little addicted.

Yelp
I was craving hot pot so decided to give this place a try! We started with the sampler for appetizer, which is included in the AYCE, and the standout for me was the corn cheese. The sweetness of the corn went well with the rich cheese! I opted for the tomato broth. Each person gets to order three meats at a time. And you can get veggies, seafood, and sauces at the bar. The service was excellent! I will probably pick a different flavor of broth next time since it wasn't as tasty as I would've liked. The choice of music was very interesting tho...very sad boy music that day. Overall a great experience!

Yelp
Mr. Shabu is a great place to visit, the food there was great. The ramen shelf is so cool, I would recommend getting hot water instead of the soup choices because you can flavor it with the ramen spices or with meat and veggies. The people there is very nice and the place is big and has a whole seafood bar and noodle bar. But the tables there are very for me but overall the place is very nice
