This is one of those places that doesn’t need trendy branding or neon signs to stay open. Ms G’s is an old-school Valley taquería: simple, direct, and honest. You don’t come here for a date night or to take Instagram photos. You come here to eat a solid taco and move on with your day. Don’t expect a dining room or a modern concept. They literally have a couple of small tables outside, exposed to the weather, and sometimes they look a bit dusty or worn. That’s what happens when your “patio” is just real life and not a designer’s idea of authenticity. It’s a functional taquería, not a lifestyle brand. The place carries real local history. The roots go back to 1974, when the owner’s mother started cooking and selling food in the same location with a simple philosophy: fresh ingredients, generous portions, and fair prices, like cooking for family. That old-school approach is exactly what still defines the place today. The food is straightforward and honest. No gimmicks, no reinventions. One of the standouts is the barbacoa taco on a wheat tortilla with their salsa. It’s simple, satisfying, and exactly what it should be. Another thing worth noting: the place has a reputation for keeping a very clean kitchen and making food fresh, in a true home-style tradition. It’s not fancy, but it’s authentic, and that matters more than most of the overpriced “concept” spots popping up everywhere. Honest rating: 4.0 / 5 Not pretty, not modern, and not somewhere you sit for an hour. But it’s real Valley history, solid tacos, and honest food. In a time where everything tries too hard to be a “concept,” that alone deserves respect.

Small hole in the wall , amazing good hot breakfast Tacos will definitely come back🥰. Its a to go place but they do have 2 small tables outside . Drive threw is available.

Good breakfast tacos and always reliable. This is a classic 956 breakfast taco spot. Good prices and they fill up the tacos well. Also order from them on doordash.

We love Mrs Gs but I had stopped going because we would always find eggs shells in our food. It's been at least a yr since we've gone and we picked up an order today and low an behold a HUGE SHELL in my daughters taco.

Worst parking ever. There's a young man at the front who tries his best. There is a lady who is always standing by the register she is the daughter of Ms.G the original owner. She is not nice and doesn't greet you nicely unless you are a long time customer. New customers good luck. While I was waiting for my order a man came in his order was placed and given to him way before mine. Not very nice. The parking is horrible,the drive thru is worse. If you are handicapped don't go there is no handicap anything there. It's a really bad bad bad parking for even those who are not handicapped.. There are much more nicer and safer places to get a breakfast taco then Ms. G the G stands for good luck getting in and out of our restaurant.

This little business has some fantastic tacos! My friend grew up in McAllen and knows this business well. There are small tables outside to sit and eat. This is a walk in and order place. Fresh flour tortillas made me instantly think of my grandmother's tortillas. Beef and bean were delicious as were the chorizo and egg.

First time trying Ms G’s tacos, and simply walking in felt very welcoming. I decided to get the tacos I always love ordering. To start, the tortillas are home made; very fluffy and leave light white residue on your fingers from the flour. Reminded me of my childhood hanging around my grandma. Absolutely loved the taste of every single taco I ordered. Lemonade was fresh. We will be back when visiting the area!

Great little spot to get RGV comida. Nice ladies working there, cheap food, and excellent taste. Loved it. Will definitely eat there again.

Best enchiladas I love the carne guisada Tortillas are homemade and delicious. If you're ever in the McAllen area and want a homemade meal I definitely recommend.

i was craving garne guisada so looking on Yelp, i found MsG. staff is really friendly and very helpful. i placed my order and they bought it to my car. most folks use drive thru or pick up orders as i ate my delicious carne guisada and bean and cheese. we also had beef gordita which was delicious. picnic tables outage front door. it's a very small place and i recommend it.

Ms G is a straight up G with this joint. Amazing food at a very low price; the ratings are dead accurate with this true under-the-radar hole-in-the-wall establishment. Ordered the breakfast tacos and an order of nachos. I did egg, potato, and refried beans for the filler. First off, the tacos are enormous, almost the size of a small baby's head. Second, the tortilla are fresh flour tortillas; you can tell with the smell as you unwrap the wrapper. Third, food is made to order as it's fresh off the grill/stove. Of course the tacos were delish and filling. Used the hot sauce they gave which packed heat. Some hot sauces from places have taste but not heat. This one definitely has heat which I like. Hey, if you can't handle heat, get out of the youknowwhat! As for the nachos, it's refried beans, cheese, and jalapeños (optional) on top of a whole fried tortilla. While I'm used to tortilla chips as the base, the whole tortilla was a bit easier to eat and less messy. And of course, it tasted dope! The people working here are friendly and welcoming. The front guy had a bad ankle from an injury but still greeted everyone with a smile and moved his ass around to help others. I commend him for sticking it out and serving others on behalf of Ms G. No tables/chairs are in the establishment so you sit outside or eat at your car/residence. No doubt I shall return when I'm back in McAllen. I'll be sure to let my coworkers know so they can get a taste of Ms G's eats!

The staff was horrible! They yelled at me when I showed them there was a roach in the taco!!! Do not eat there! A health inspector should visit them!!!!!

Super delish home style food!! If you are wondering about this spot, wonder no more! It's all delicious and it takes some time because it's fresh made to order! Staff is friendly and hard working don't forget to tip they are out here and it's hot!

I had read this place was amazing but my buddy and I were sadly underwhelmed. Being on the border we expected truly authentic and delicious tacos but these were very run of the mill. The tortillas were fresh but the cheese seemed to be shredded cheddar and the meat was flavorless. Worst of all, one of the orders was made very wrong. Even the red sauce tasted liked Pace Picante. There is a good view of the water tower from the patio .

First time trying Mr's. I had the enchilada special and a carne guisada gordita. Had to wait a little for the gordita but was definitely worth it. It was delicious!

My family of five were in McAllen for a football game, and in need of a quick, satisfying meal to hold us over. This place fit the bill! The service was quick and super friendly. I felt like a regular and it was my first time. I ordered a bean and cheese and wanted a bit more cheese, but the mildly spicy salsa made up for what was missing in the flavor the cheese would have provided. My boys had egg, bacon and potato tacos and kept raving about them! We eat breakfast tacos just about every weekend, so when they are impressed, it's says a lot. The tab was $22 and some change for 6 tacos and 4 drinks. Every reasonable, in my opinion. If we lived here, they would for sure know my name!

Ms G's is the best comfort food ever. Made to order, fresh and delicious. The prices are great. This became our favorite breakfast/lunch spot from day one. The workers are amazing, friendly, and kind. Tip them well because they deserve it for everything they do!

Ms. gs fish Tacos are the Best!!!! I am not a sea food eater however the Baja Style Beer Battered Fish Tacos are to Die for ! The corn tortillas were so soft and you can tell they were freshly made. The chipotle sauce was perfectly spiced. Beautiful slice avocados and cabbage with pico de Gallo on the side It sucks that this taco is only seasonal. They should make them all year long! As an expert in tacos. This place is real deal Holyfield. Trust me I've been to some great taco joints coast to coast and Ms. G's is great. I'll be back next time I'm in McAllen.

Always consistent, always delicious! We have been going to Mrs. G's for many years now and the food is always delicious. We have never been disappointed!

I've never written a yelp review before today. Ms G's is probably the best Mexican food that I've had. Yes, I understand that I'm an out of towner and I may not know what true Mexican food is, but damn was this place good. I got the Ms. G's Fajita Combo plate and it was amazing. The service is great Willy is super nice, and I will 100% come back the next time I'm in the area.

Not one bad thing to say about this little gem. We came for breakfast tacos and were content customers. They take your order from your car, you pay at the window, and the order is brought out to you. The food was great and service was fast and friendly.

My kids love their carne guisada with cheese tacos. Carne Guisada is not greasy like other places.

One of my favorite taco drive through's in the valley. It's a little shack on Pecan & 23rd and despite the long line, it's very worth it. The staff are the nicest and their food is so delicious! If you've been living in the valley & you've never had Ms G's tacos, shame on you!!!

Getting my morning taco here. Place is clean and busy. Wait staff is friendly and helpful. Beef guisada for me on homemade flour tortillas! Yummy for my tummy! :)

OMGoodness ! Back in the 70's these were the best tacos you could but in the upper Valley. Only thing that could compete might be tacos eaten at home, prepared by someones Mom or Abuela. It is still the case today, the name has changed Mrs G's, the name of the creator & founder ......Mrs G. (RIP QEPD). Only difference in the food THEN and food then is the name of the business. Then it was El P* to. It was later bought out and the recipes were changed to a noy-as-good flavor. Sad. But so many mourned the loss to the community, that, thabkfully , they have returned !!! This still the REAL DEAL on so many levels !. Everything on the menu, but the stars are the true South Texas classic flour tortilla tacos. Carne Guisada (stewed beef tips in a brown tomato gravy are the proverbial bomb. I hate to gush and know too many exclamation marks can be overkill, but it is what it is... THE BEST !!!

Great tacos at a great price. I was yelp'd in a few months back and this has become the go to place for morning tacos. I like the fact that I can order 40 tacos and all can be different without any issues. The lines are always long but if you phone in your order you will find the service to be alot quicker.

WOW this place is CRAZY DELISH!!! I love, love, LOVE their carne guisada tacos with fresh crispy lettuce and delicious tomatoes, and add cheese please! Their salsas are also very fresh and tasty. The prices are also equally lovely and cheap. Ms. G is one of the nicest, most down to earth people you will ever get to meet, and it rubs off on her staff too! Aside from there not being a dining area, that has never stopped us before! It's our ritual to stop here before heading back home to SA, grab a bunch of tacos, and eat as many as we can in the Walgreens parking lot across the street LOL :) For the price, value, service, taste, and quality of the food, I must say that El Pato ain't got nothing on Ms. G's Tacos 'N More!

This spot does NOT have a dining area. I would have given it 5-stars if I would've been able to eat here. The carne guisada + refried bean tacos were SUPER-BOMB! The tortillas were fluffy, and fresh, the beef was tender, and the beans were seasoned just right. MMMMMM Good!

I could have sworn that I had written a review about this joint, maybe it got taken down b/c of something to do with El Pato - blah! I eat here at least 3-4 times whenever I am home. Love it, love Yolanda and love her tasty Texican fare. It would be nice to be able to sit outside, but we can save that for Ms. G's ver 2.0.... Nothing beats her potato, egg and cheese tacos, but the to go enchi plate is also delightful. Not sure why Charro beans are the norm, I always go refried and am never disappointed.

My time machine! This is the Original goodness that used to sell patos but now sells tacos, if you get my drift. This place is top notch. It's the typical Type-2 diabetes inducing, high fat, high grease, high carb tex-mex diet that makes for great comfort food. I try to go once a week for lunch and get ground beef, cheese, and avocado tacos. Unbelievable, fresh, and delicious. Just eat here. You'll enjoy it no matter what you get.

The food is great don't get me wrong, but they're EXTREMELY slow when it comes to serving the customers their food. The employees are nice but they service is absolute trash. They are seriously backed up. We've been waiting for 30 minutes to get our tacos and have yet to get them!!

Foods good but their drive thru situation leaves a lot to be desired. By the time the person in front of you gets out and you get to your tacos they are cold. Sorry but never again!

The lemonade is delish! I had the Machacado and egg, the bacon and egg, and the chorizo and egg. Super cheap and pretty tasty breakfast tacos. I want to try other things on their menu. There are no places for you to sit inside, so order and go! Also parking sucks there. There are only like 3 parking spots.

I understand that if you are Tex Mex you may like these tacos and flavors, but if you are Mexican or grew up eating authentic Mexican food this place will leave you wishing for better. (1) I didn't like the texture of the tortilla---too thick and chewy. Stripes tacos actually have better tortillas (2) they don't have salsa. What the woman called "hot sauce" was a tomato purée. I asked about Green Salsa--nope. Not there. Louisiana Hot sauce would've been better. (3). The flavors are OK at best. She really tried to sell me on the beef and cheese taco and it reminded me of cafeteria school back in my elementary school days. (4) if you like coffee with your tacos, the coffee here was wayyy too watered down for my taste. For now, my search continues for the best breakfast tacos. These are definitely NOT it.

We had the breakfast tacos, they were ok we've had better I even think the Laredo taco company inside Valero are a bit better. Had read reviews that they were the best tacos, but was kinda disappointed.

I moved away in 1994 and missed El Pato everyday. I have been back the last year on business and was disappointed when I ate at the new El Pato it was not what I remembered Thankfully a friend told me about Mrs G's. It brought back all the memories of my childhood in my hometown. The best tacos by far in the valley. Beef bean and cheese will be my all time fave. Again the best tacos in the valley without question

Very friendly service! Quick drive thru. I ordered a sausage, egg & cheese taco along with a bacon, egg & cheese, both were amazing!

I haven't been there in a long time but just a friendly tip: there is no seating and this location is a to-go restaurant only! Perfect for your morning rush to work or just to take home to the kiddos.

The original El Pato, it's miles better than any el pato out there. Everything is fresh and delicious especially their drinks. I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

You cannot go wrong with Ms. G's! There is something for everyone here and the best of TexMex! I love the botanas. Real fajitas grilled to perfection! Just make sure you call with advanced notice. Perfection does take a little time to make! Also I can never go to Ms. G's without getting a large lemonade. Wish there was more of them so I didn't have to drive to far for its deliciousness.

There is no dining area at this area, heck the parking lot only fits like 3 cars but that doesn't matter. What matters is the great food they have at a reasonable price. They have a drive-thru in case you can't find parking. I had 3 tacos de carne guisada which cost about 5.50. They were big, hot and delicious. Good stuff!! I totally recommend this place if you are hungry and low on cash.

Its very hard to compete with my mother and grandmother when it comes to mexican cuisine because they are straight from the motherland. This food is half decent and the price is ok, I give it 5 because I love the place and would never want for it to go away. Waaaay better than el pato
