We walked in with genuine excitement, but the mood dipped almost immediately. A brief interaction with Gaggan Anand at the start felt abrupt and set an oddly cold tone for the evening — not what you expect from a place of this stature.
Food-wise, it was underwhelming. The onion pakora was the only dish that truly delivered — crisp, flavourful, and well executed. The chicken and paneer gravies were acceptable but lacked any real depth or distinction.
The real disappointments were the dal and the cocktail. The dal lacked soul and balance — surprising for a restaurant rooted in Indian flavours. The cocktail was simply a miss. At this level, basics shouldn’t fail.
For a restaurant built on reputation and personality, the experience felt more style over substance. When the fundamentals don’t land, the concept alone can’t carry the meal.
