Mt. Agni Review - Berkeley - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Mt. Agni is a counter-service Nepali spot right off the UC Berkeley campus with supremely spicy food. Focus your attention on the Kathmandu street food section for chatpate that feels like eating spicy Pop Rocks in the best way possible, and get the paneer chili for a slightly sweet spice that’ll force you to refill your water cup at least three times. Most of the (limited) seating is in almost fully enclosed green booths, so no one will see as you create a puddle of sweat bigger than Lake Merritt. Unfortunately, the momos are the worst thing here—they’re served lukewarm and lack the spicy hit all of the other dishes provide." - Ricky Rodriguez

San Francisco’s New Restaurant Openings - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"In Berkeley’s Northside comes Mt. Agni, a Nepalese spot in the former Stuffed Inn sandwich shop. The menu features a series of curries (like a chicken korma), momos, and Kathmandu street food like the chatpate and piro aloo. The interior is simple with just a few sparse tables and booths adorning the space. " - Ricky Rodriguez

Google
A cute restaurant that serves flavors akin to North Indian food for their lunch specials. They pile up your plate, but I can be hungry sometimes after. Their chai is some of the best I can get in Berkeley and is decently priced. Their chicken is well seasoned, and their veggie options are delicious. Their rice is well cooked. The little booths are cute, but the seating area can be a little stuffy.

Google
Got the piro aloo and beef chilly momos (both at medium spice level, there’s mild, medium, and hot which is handy). There’s a good amount of vegetarian options, so I’d say this is a good place to check out if you prefer that. The food I got (a bit more than what was in the photo since I ate some) had good flavor and texture without being greasy. The location is very clean and feels very well organized. There’s a lot of nice seating, and it looks like a pretty nice place to dine in. Got what was pictured for about $20-25. Will be going back to try out the lunch boxes. Would recommend.

If you are craving for authentic Nepali taste, search no more, Mo:Mo and chicken chili will remind you the street of Kathmandu. Highly recommended if you are in town for quick Nepali bite. Recommend Mo:mo, chicken chili, Goat curry.

Google
I was just there for dinner, but I’ve been there a few other times for dinner/lunch as well. Genuinely this place is so good! Everyone there is really kind and friendly! Only thing I have to say is that the chow mein is definitely pretty low in quantity and price is on the higher end, but overall this place is CRIMINALLY underrated!

Google
Tikka Momos are amazing and out of this world. Has a great kick to it too. This is the next Nepalese/Indian spot to explode in the area. Try it before the hype.

Google
Everything you see in the picture, which is the Lunch box special, is for around $13 (before tips). There’s veg option as well. Overall solid food for the price!

Google
Had a bad experience here. They charged $50 and all the food felt like was from trader joes—naans, momos, etc. Could tell it was frozen and heated, not recommended for an authentic indian taste. Rice was also hard to eat, not fresh. Decor was messy and not maintained. They are charging $25 per person to heat up trader joes style food…avoid at all costs until they change.

Google
Momos are excellent. We tried another noodle dish and their house wings. All very good. The staff is very friendly. Nice addition to Northside

Yelp
i order a plate ($13) very nice staff, they gave me a free chai with my meal. This kind of made my day and I definitely have been back since. I know when I'm on campus for a while and need some thing good and filling this is the place to be. Also love their vegetarian options.

Yelp
Decided to get the lunch box special because I saw some new marketing ads from them and it was pretty good. I got the non-veg box which is a dollar more than the vegetarian option. It comes with 2 curries, rice option, a side and complimentary chai tea. The chicken tikka masala was mild, flavorful, and creamy. The chicken curry was bolder and spicier and came with bones. The fried rice had a nice assortment of vegetables and the pakora side was nice, but it probably would've been crunchier if I ordered it fresh. The chai tea is super flavorful and the spices can be tasted but it's not overpowering with the cream and sugar in it. The amount you get is probably around 4-5 ounces and it comes out hot. Service is nice. Inside is clean and there's plenty of seating if you choose to eat there. Parking is just street or around the neighborhood but I walked. Overall, solid place to get lunch.

Yelp

Yelp
I was in the area and craving Indian food. The 4.5 stars on Yelp convinced me to give it a shot. Friendly staff and quick service; loved the paneer he put in the biryani and it there. I ate the chana saag with the rice the next day at home. Finished off the meal with a nice cup of chai - perfect.

Yelp
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. ITS A SCAM. Paid 14 bucks for the worst chow mein of my life that was half way filled. I'd honestly eat the bad chow mein but it's the fact that they scammed me w the half filled box and crazy price that's making me mad. If I could give 0 stars I would

Yelp
This new Nepalese restaurant on Northside is a great addition to the neighborhood. I stopped in last week and tried the Nepalese dish, Momos as well as another noodle dish from the region and their take on wings. All very good.

Yelp
Went here yesterday for the lunch box special and it was really good! They extended the special past the closing time for us, and the staff were super nice overall. Would come again!

Yelp
The food is okay and well priced but I just want people to be aware that it is nothing particularly special.

Yelp
I love Jhol Momo from this restaurant. Jhol can't beat anywhere in the bay area with its authentic nepali taste. Restaurant is big enough for large groups too. Location is great where after food you can take a walk around UC Berkeley which is just a 5 minute walk from this restaurant. This is one od my go to places for jhol momo, fried rice and chicken wings.

Yelp
The lunch plate deal is great value, the lady suggested to me and saved me a couple bucks. Great food and a nice atmosphere. Recommend!

Yelp
Tried their to go momo and chicken bbq during an event. Pretty descent. I'm yet to try their brick and mortar. Will visit soon.

Yelp
I wanted something a little different before seeing Willie Nelson at the Greek. Chili chicken MOMO was amazing! Chai Tea was complimentary and delicious too. Very very good!

Yelp
Got chicken biryani and goat curry on a rainy day from this spot. the goat curry is amazing - super juicy, tender, fresh, and not gamey at all. They don't hold back on the spices, which I love. Ordered the biryani in spicy, and it's legit spicy. They also gave me a free cup of chai, which was nice. Totally hit the spot!

Yelp
Delicious Nepali food. The chicken chowmein was sooo good! Will be back to try out more dishes.

Yelp
A welcome addition to Northside! I had the combo lunch box ($13) from the day's specials. Two curries, rice, and appetizer. Chicken tika was a bit too salty, but otherwise delicious. Paneer curry was also very good and the onion pakoda was perfect. Hope they have saag dishes next time.

Alec V.

Yelp
Ordered takeout. Both the chicken tikki masala and lamb korma were great--but I especially liked the korma!
