The absolute best place for food and drinks. Excellent service!!! Best bar and grill in the area. I love the bartenders here and the food is a huge hit. I love the black bean burger and the french fries. They have such a great selection of beer and liquor, and mixed drinks. They also have amazing dessert. I got the chocolate cake and ice cream and it was some of the best dessert I’ve ever had. I was shocked. Definitely check this place out!!! You won’t regret it!!! My favorite bar in the entire area.

It was my first time here, expecting from the reviews a good meal, I build my own burger, I ordered well done and it was clearly not, the guacamole from the burger tasted like it was old. I order a diet coke and it didn’t taste like it was a diet coke, it tasted more like water with soda, they didn’t bring the can or the bottle. And the waitress was a little bit rude, not recommend & not coming here again.

I stopped by this past Saturday night a little after midnight. I’ve heard a lot of great things about this place over the years and was excited to finally check it out. We ordered the steak frites and truffle fries, and both were cooked perfectly definitely lived up to the hype! I also tried the full rack of ribs, but unfortunately, they weren’t quite what I expected. They came out pretty dry and crunchy, almost like they’d been fried. Not sure if that’s part of the style or if it was just the timing since it was close to closing. Also, the soda seemed really flat, even though the server mentioned the CO2 was fine. That said, I know every place can have an off night, so I’m definitely open to giving it another shot in the future based on the reputation and the parts of the meal that were really well done. Looking forward to stopping by again to try more from the menu.

The waitress was very nice and attentive. They have a wide selection of food and drinks. I’ve been to all lower 48 states and five Canadian provinces and who’d think the best burger was just down the road

I have been going to Chalet since the 80s, with Frieda. Over the last year or two, this place has fallen apart!!! Poor service, poor food, and poor management. Tonight I ordered a few items for dinner and I went in and picked it up. They forgot a whole order of fries, and ranch dressing for the wings. Plus, the wings were dry, and the hamburger was over cooked... Ridiculous! Who raises their prices way beyond the value of the food, and then forgets the main thing called quality food and quality customer service. I'm sorry, but all of your servers need to go work at Dennys. EXCEPT Maddie!!! Very disappointing...

Fascinating little place. Dive Bar on Woodward that captures a lot of Royal Oak / Birmingham locals. Busy during the day. Real social nexus. The food is always great. The beer is always cold. And the staff is always friendly. Interesting place to people watch and eavesdrop on conversations.

A nice little hole in the wall in Michigan in terms of a bar, but it charms you. I always enjoy coming here with my friends and my Wife. My stepson recommended this place for me and I can’t recommend it more.

I came in alone, after work on a Tuesday. Straight away, I observed the popularity by the crowd! The drink was perfect... Bartender Katie. My Chicken tenders with the Thai chili... brilliant. BUT, as busy as the place was, great service! Even other servers stopped to talk to me! I WILL return!

My sister recommended we come here for the chicken fingers and man was she right! Great tenders, great ranch and my husband loved his burger!

I was taken to Mt. Chalet for my birthday dinner because my friend "raved" about the chilli. We both ordered loaded chilli with cheese and sour cream drizzled on top. We each had a salad and coconut shrimp appetize with sweet chili sauce. The waitress was very pleasant. The atmosphere was nice and the chili was delicious. Reasonably priced.

Great little bar hidden on Woodward in Royal Oak. Great chili and good burgers. All food is decent with no misses. Dessert changes and is good as well. Nice draft list.

Dinner food is consistently good. Someone always opts for chicken tenders because they're delicious. Pro tip: Get the buffalo sauce.

Here's a draft for your review: --- We had an overall decent experience. Our server, Abigail, provided adequate service, though she could have given us more time to look at the drink menu. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak, which had a wonderful flavor, but the roll fell apart, making it difficult to eat. When it comes to the fries, I would recommend sharing instead of ordering individually, as the portions are generous. A heads-up: if you order side condiments, there is a $1 fee. Overall, a mixed experience but with some good points.

Excellent food especially burgers. Their week d brunches are also awesome. Service and atmosphere are great. We love to come here any day of the week.

Classic Birmingham spot with great atmosphere, drinks, and food. Try the Tommy Tomato, add bacon. You will not be disappointed--no sandwich like it. Very unique. Or go ribs. Add chili to any order. Thank me later.

Loved this place!! Definitely it's got the ski lodge vibes you'd expect. Had a warm ambiance and even the clientele was wearing cozy turtlenecks lol. Stayed for 2 glasses of cab and it got me nice and toasty like you'd expect from red wine on a cold night. The waitress was super attentive and was always ready for water refills and checking in whenever we needed anything. I'd come again for sure!

Carrot cake was great!! I think the plate was warm which made it kinda warm but cream cheese was cold so not entirely sure but it was a greattttt bite! Could be a bit more spicy but I'm also crazy with needing everything incredibly spicy. Cream cheese was perfect not overly sweet!

The piedmontese burger was really good. I'm pretty simple on toppings...mayo, ketchup and mustard only. Prepared as requested. Fries and burger served hot. It's a bit chilly inside, but not too bad. Service was quick and friendly. I'd for sure recommend and return. Great pub atmosphere.

This restaurant is by far my favorite weekly place to go for dinner. It's a great crowd, environment and the food is fabulous. A standout server is Maddie - get her if you can. She is always on top of everything from anticipating when you're ready to order, clearing your dishes and ensuring your next drink arrives just in time. She's incredibly skilled at managing to make you feel like you're the only person/table in a restaurant that's always busy. I love the Chalet!

We showed up expecting a group of 10-14 people after a funeral service on a Friday late afternoon. They were very accommodating in finding a spot on the patio where we could all sit together. Our server was professional and efficient. The list of specialty cocktails was impressive. The good choices met our varying dietary needs (vegetarian and gluten free).

Been coming to Chalet for 15 years and still my favorite bar. Food is very good, drink prices are very fair and most importantly, the service is great. The bartenders treat me well as does the wait staff. One of the best all around bars in Oakland County.

Quick service, great wings. Stopped in for a quick bite while on Woodward for the Dream cruise. Patio seats were great in the shade.

Great food with a lot of unique items to choose from on the menu. Atmosphere is a bit noisy, but it's clean and comfortable. Parking and accessibility is good.

I've been going to Mt.Chalet for years as its only a couple of miles from home, and it never disappoints. I love their Reuben sandwich and the burgers (especially the Piedmontese burger) you can tell that the kitchen staff really wants to put out great food. The servers are terrific and the prices are still reasonable. Well worth a visit!

This place used to be good but it is super dirty and filthy. The service was horrible btw. I will NOT be back. I was shocked that the waitress gave us such bad service considering I would come before and tip well and be nice all the time in the past. The food is good but in metro detroit there are so many other options. The waitress was absolute trash in the service she gave. Didn't even ask my guest what she wanted on thier burger. We still tipped her well, didn't complain, and just won't come back.

Our last server absolutely sucked and the beer list could improve but otherwise this place is consistently good and a fun time. I wish I knew our server's name from last time so I could call out how much he sucked but oh well.

I've been on a mission to find a good burger and beer place. The kind of spot that gives dive bar vibes but has quality food. It's been harder than one would think living in Royal Oak. I think this spot is our lead contender right now. Fries were great and so were the burgers. I was able to get sliders which worked well for me. We managed to each have two beers, burgers, and fries for $43. You can't do that anywhere these days. Heather our server was awesome. I liked the vibe. Dive bar but also nice at the same time if that makes sense.

First time visiting this place and the fish and chips, burgers, and chicken are to die for and would highly recommend them. Alex provided above and beyond service!

The food here is not your typical "Bar" food. They have yummy salads and sandwiches. I had a delicious Maurice salad. I've also had the Kale salad at a prior lunch, and it was equally excellent. The service is top notch! The staff is very attentive to your every want or need. It was a packed house on a Friday afternoon for lunch. It was very active and on the noisy side, but a great place to go for a great lunch or dinner!

Absolutely love the food here, my must haves are the beef tips with jalapeno blue cheese salsa. Sounds like an interesting combo but it works so well together!

This place has been here a long long time. And still they managed to keep it quaint, and very very clean. They seem to have a terrific brunch menu though I didn't try that but I did have a couple of their appetizers and they were delicious. The service was good the staff was friendly and I can't wait to go back and try their brunch.

Ordered curbside carry out. They have everything set up online and it's easy to use. Their patio is also open during the indoor dining shutdown, and it looked cute and busy while we were waiting in the car. Definitely one of the best burgers around. You can choose your meat, cheese, and tons of toppings and sauces. The garlic aioli is excellent. The burgers were huge, which is exactly what we were in the mood for. Highly recommend them for a solid burger. The only thing keeping me from five stars is the fries. Pro: they were crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Con: some were wet with grease so they weren't as delicious to eat. I just avoided those, and there were still more than enough fries for two of us in one order. We ordered truffle garlic Parmesan fries. If you love truffle, go for the truffle. Not all truffle fries I've ordered elsewhere are strong with truffle flavor, but Mt Chalet's definitely are. I think next time we'd try seasoned fries. Will definitely be back for more burgers!!

I was looking for a last minute place to go for a Friday evening dinner which is difficult to find. Mt Chalet was busy, but we didn't have to wait long. Service was good considering how busy it was. The food was a step above bar food. The piedmontese burger was great, and my wife's baked halibut was surprisingly excellent. The ambiance is family friendly for dinner. We had three other families around us. Great place to go and rarely disappoints.

Great food unlike the usual bar food. I liked and I intend to revisit Mt. Chalet. Promising for sure but I need to revisit to give full review.

Might be the best kept secret in the Woodward Corridor. Friendly wait staff, excellent food, warm environment and good prices. Then there is the specials. Always glance at the chalkboard when you walk in. The specials are fantastic. The pie's are made locally and always worth it. Personally, I think Chalets Mac and Cheese is the best in Michigan. I can go on and on. It's my favorite haunt.

My wife and I order from Mt Chalet II often. They have good portion size and delicious fried chicken tenders. I also enjoy their tune melt and club sandwich. The pickup service is pretty good. They do not have a convenient place to park for pickups and their bar/restaurant can be very busy at night.

The food is pretty much always amazing. The Chalet salad is 12/10 - highly recommend. Service I feel has gone downhill in more recent years so pack your patience. If the service was better it would always be a five start review.

Nope...it's a five-star place when you can do a menu this well, and this diverse, wholesale. Loud bar or not, the service here is truly marvelous, and the food, every single time I've had it, just *hits*. There is SO MUCH MORE to the menu of this place than "bar food". They've got some *serious* talent in the kitchen, along with some darned good recipes. Here's a telltale sign: I really, really like their chili, and it has beans in it. Beans: the cardinal sin of chili. Now normally, I eschew any kind of chili with beans in it, because it pretty much always makes chili such a lousy, awful, uninspired dish. Here? Let's just say that this is the exception that proves the rule. I *like* their chili, all by itself, beans and all. It's even better when they bring some diced onions and even *more* legit when you ask for some of their not-to-be-taken-for-granted pico de gallo with it. Absolutely lovely, and I ate every little bit of it and took some home to-go with me (I didn't eat the cheese mix nor the sour cream that came with it, but they are, indeed, included). For $4 for a cup or $6 for a bowl, a basement bargain, indeed. I mean, did you catch what I just said there? Their kitchen is good enough to make me want to try and then actually *enjoy* something that I actively, philosophically dislike. That's some serious chops, that is. There's stuff on this menu that I'll be trying in the future that has no living right to be on a bar menu: various different Mexican and Asian inspired dishes that couldn't be farther from typical bar fare like the dreaded "mozzarella sticks", which thankfully are not here. They do have a good bar burger, they have (what I've been told are delicious) fish and chips, and so if you're dead-set on absolutely having some bar food, you can get that, too, and it'll be some pretty darned elevated versions of said stuff. It's the truly unexpected on the menu that really amazes, and the ability that they have to pull it off. That's what makes me so taken with the place. And they're open late on a Sunday night, with the kitchen open until 11PM. I'm so grateful to know that, pretty late, I can find really good, well-prepared food relatively close to me. I...I think I just shed a tear.

I've been here a couple of times and the food I've tried is very good. I've had the burger and chicken fingers (I think they make their own honey mustard and it is GOOD) and want to go back and try the nachos. I've been there twice and they are always busy which I do not mind. It means they are producing a good product. Waitstaff are attentive and polite. If you go there on a busy night maybe call your order ahead or get take out. Just plan to wait just a little longer than normal. Again, I don't think this is a bad thing. They nail it and the burger is honestly better than redcoat as of late.

Outdoor patio not open on a Saturday afternoon- hadn't rained since 7am and none here as of 3:30. Oh well stayed anyway and glad I did. Had not been here in years, nothing changed and that's a good thing ! Waitress was superb. Tried a soup special- potato/feta. Tasted great -loaded with stock, including jalapeños. Shared a Maurice salad, very good also.

Food is surprisingly good, fish & chips/Rustic Club Samdwhich/chalet salad are all very good. Only reason not a 5 star is the "coated" fries. Not a fan, wish they would go with a she string type with no coating. All and all a great place.

One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. I had The Piedmontese, med rare. De-freakin-licious. My partner said the fish and chips were great. Our server worked her tail off and hit a home run with her beer suggestion when they were out of Zombie Killer. We were on the patio, which was fine at first but felt pretty crowded after a bit. The inside was much more cramped. If you are looking for airy, roomy, or quiet, this is not your place. If you are looking for excellent service, fantastic food, and an overall cool and easygoing vibe, this place is it. We Will be back.

Good food, fun, bar atmosphere, and decent service. Above average sports bar. The only thing was that the waiter took some time to get to us, and we didn't get out silverware until after our food came.

A neighborhood standard. Indoor and deck dining, watch the muscle cars along Woodward. Love their new slider offerings - the fish are my favorites. Great drinks, always attentive servers. Been there a long time for good reason. One of our regular stops.

I ordered a turkey burger, paying extra for arugula and caramelized onions. The arugula I received was wilted and tired. "Caramelized onions" were onions cooked in bbq sauce. The burger was tastless. I have loved this place for a long time, but tonight was very disappointing. On the plus side, the service was quick and the server, Alex M. was very cordial.
