Mt. Joy - Review - South Lake Union - Seattle - The Infatuation

"We love the fried chicken sandwiches that this local food truck-turned-counter service restaurant serves. With a second location in South Lake Union, that means more tendies, fries, and milkshakes for the greater good. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Kayla Sager-Riley

I had the fried chicken sandwich here, with dark meat. This came with lettuce, pickles, and a sweet-relish like sauce included as well The main part of the meal, the chicken, is pretty large - poking out of the bun at certain points. Funnily enough, the sandwich I had actually had two smaller individual pieces of chicken within the bun. I didn't mind this too much, but it was a bit odd There's some seasoning, but not too much of it. I did think the crunch on the breading was pretty good, though - as it was a nice dark brown, and I could feel crispiness around the edges Unfortunately, I did find the meat to be pretty dry - this is despite the fact that its dark meat, and should theoretically be way juicier. It didn't taste as good as dark meat fried chicken usually does. I liked the addition of the pickles, but the sauce was throwing me off a bit. I normally love sauce on a chicken sandwich, but this might be the rare occasion where something was oversauced. The sauce was very sweet, which would've been fine in small quantities, but with the amount of it on the sandwich, it was pretty much all I tasted for the majority of the meal. It should either be dialed back in terms of volume or the recipe should be changed to incorporate more spices, because it was a bit too much for me For the price of around $15, it's a decent size sandwich, but not overly filling. I wouldn't say it lives up that amount Overall, it's an average-ish chicken sandwich. 7/10

Food is good but they changed their cups to insultingly and ridiculously small paper ramekins. Thought they had just run out of cups, and I was looking at condiment containers, but one of the employees let me know these condiment cups were actually intended as their water cups. Will not be coming back.

Ate a dark meat fried chicken sandwich with fries and tangy paprika sauce. The chicken was super crispy, juicy, and flavorful. Didn't taste bland at all! Standard fixings of shredded lettuce, tomato, and sauce - but that didn't bother me. It let the chicken shine through! Fries were well salted and crispy with generous portions. I was surprised by how much I got. I really liked the tangy paprika sauce, and in general, appreciate the variety of options! I'll keep exploring next time I eat there!

I absolutely love this place. The chicken is super crispy never gristly. The sauces are always really good. The people that work here always really nice. But I have to tell you my favorite thing about this place is the music queue system. If you list a favorite song with their app/phone text service, It remembers that and it queues that song when you order through the kiosk. Mt. Joy indeed. I am always happy when I come here

Super fun place in SLU. An easy online ordering process and the food was AMAZING!!! I had the Mediterranean rice bowl and I can’t recommend it enough! Truly one of the best bowls I’ve gotten and I’ll be dreaming about that chicken for the rest of the week! Definitely give this place a try - you’ll fall in love with it!

Best fried chicken sandwich in Seattle. I got the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and immediately loved that I could choose between white and dark meat. The habanero sauce on it was the perfect amount of sweetness plus spice. French fries are reasonably priced ($5) and perfectly done. I’ll definitely be back!

Took my taste buds on their first trip to Mt. Joy, but unfortunately, they didn’t find much joy there. First up, the fries—let’s just say if bland had a mascot, these would be it. I’ve had more exciting fries from a drive-thru at 2 AM. The chicken sandwich? Well, it was chicken, so points for accuracy. But flavor? Missing in action. And the wings… oof. If Buffalo Wild Wings is the bar, these tripped over it and faceplanted. Would I climb Mt. Joy again? Probably not—unless I hear there’s a much better view at the top.
