Yelp
I LOVED MUDGIE'S! It was pretty busy when we came in, but it was a lot bigger inside than I expected. There's a nice outdoor patio, beer/wine shop inside, and then a whole back room with tables. We ordered by QR code, but they offer the option of a hard copy menu as well. My friend and my brother and I all loved our sandwiches. Mine was one of the best corned beef sandwiches I'd ever had. The bread, the thousand island, the incredible corned beef... truly phenomenal and MASSIVE! Would absolutely come back next time I'm in Detroit.

Yelp
Kind of weird sandwiches. We walked over from the hotel to Mudgie's because of the great reviews. Ordered a leggo and it was just ok. I didn't really like the type of salami they used it was like Oscar Mayer ish and they melted cheese on it but somehow the bread was still too soft. Not good or worth the 8 minute walk in the snow.

Yelp
Omg dreams do come true! I'm SO happy Lobster Week is back after a few years. The staff is doing a phenomenal job keeping this place going after losing Greg. My lobster roll and rose was so good and Katie was a fantastic server. Thank you! Previous review: Mudgie's building is so beautiful. The ambiance of the place is wonderfully unique. We came here for Lobster Week last year, and were looking forward to it again all year. There were 4 of us. The wait is long during Lobster Week, but well worth it! In fact, I plan on returning again before the week is over. Our service was great, and the food was even better. The lobster gets shipped in daily fresh from Maine. It is by far the best I've ever had. My two friends ordered them as well and loved it. My Husband isn't a seafood fan so he ordered a BYO sandwich with ham, bacon, cheese. The bread looked so good and he said his sandwich was very good. Beers were good and the fresh margaritas were perfect. We are looking forward to visiting in a month or so for their regular menu(which they still offer during Lobster Week). Thank you Mudgie

Yelp
My wife, daughter and I were looking for a lunch spot, while spending some time in the "D". We enjoy unique venues that offer a glimpse back in history of the City. Mudgie's fits that profile perfectly. Tucked into the Corktown neighborhood, but easy to find. They offer a wide variety of Sandwiches, Salads and Soups. They also offer GF/Vegan options which was appealing to our daughter. She ordered the Chicken Sandwich on GF bread, which she said was very good. She also had the Tomato Soup. My wife had the Maurice Salad which was very fresh, crisp lettuce and flavorful ingredients, and their Maurice dressing which also was very good. I had the "Sorry Charlie" Tuna Salad sandwich on toasted rye, with lettuce, tomato, provolone and a very tasty honey mustard dressing. Portions are generous, you will not leave hungry. Our server was very attentive and friendly, and the ambiance is very relaxed and fun.

Yelp
Fantastic sandwiches and people here. Got lucky to go before rush one day and highly recommend!

Yelp
We LOVE Mudgie's! Their sandwiches are just the best - real, homemade meats, fresh ingredients and bread, loaded salads, homemade sides and cookies. Yum! Every time I order catering, everyone is so happy. They have lots of sandwiches to choose from and very good vegetarian options if you need. The trays are presented so nicely and look so inviting, and they have new pickles! So fresh and cucumber-ey. I love dining in, but catering is so good from here. Make this your choice, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Ate here for lunch today and it was amazing per usual! I ordered the corned beef on an onion roll with pickles and chips. Did not disappoint! Service was great and quick. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Mudgies is an institution within the city of Detroit and Corktown. Their sandwiches are top notch and they have one of the best patios in the city The Mayor sandwich is probably one of the best sandwiches in the history of all sandwiches of all time

Yelp
I had never been here and was at work. I did not want the typical so I decided to order pickup from here. The ordering was easy online. The sandwiches were fresh and good. It was what a deli sandwich should be. Fresh bread, good meat and just enough sauce. This place will be on my list for future locations to visit.

Yelp
All I can say is WOW! An absolute hidden gem, if I hadn't looked this place up I most likely would've never noticed this place. Interior is a chill vibe, beautiful antique ceilings and fun bar area. Staff was friendly and brought a cheery vibe to the atmosphere. Onto that SANDWICH! Oh lawd this Rueben was incredible. I haven't had many in my life but this is by far the best one I've had. Bread was super soft yet crisp, meat was tender and the sauerkraut had just the right amount of kick to it. Draft beer is good too! $20 for my entire meal, leaving with a happy belly :)

Yelp
Greg Mudgie's must be rolling in his grave ! For a sandwich that costs 17 dollars that is smaller than a two dollar Arby's roast beef is beyond ridiculous . I wouldn't recommend wasting your money !

Yelp
Great sandwiches! They allow you to order from your table and as a group from multiple devices and even pay through their site as well. It's super easy and convenient but a little difficult for making substitutions. However, the staff is very helpful and will manually include any edits you wanted to make!

Yelp
Ate outside on the patio as we had a dog with us. Server was very kind and brought us a water pitcher for the hot weekend. Service was quick and food was delicious. The tofu had a lot of savory flavors and the bread was toasted perfectly. The pickle and the chips on the side were well prepared as well.

Yelp
So LRoth was in Detroit for a conference, and I decided to tag along. We needed a quick lunch, and this place was close to the hotel. We got an orzo salad as a side. This was nice and fresh. Two bags of chips. They had a wide selection. I got a Gutty Sandwich. This was flavorful but surprisingly quite small. There were several meats but not really plentiful for the price. LRoth got the Madill, which was a special. It had good flavor. All in all, the sandwiches were good, but the price was a bit much. Two sandwiches, drinks, chips, and one side for over $50, especially since the portions were on the smaller side. I'd still recommend, but be prepared to spend.

Yelp
I was totally impressed with the quality of the food. I had a veggie wrap which had a delightful quantity of artichokes and other yummy stuff. I also had some coleslaw and their amazing potato salad. I carried out a ham and Swiss sandwich with was fantastic the following day. Delicious thick sliced ham, generous amount of Swiss cheese, tomato, lettuce and great dressing. The sour dough rye bread was excellent. It makes you want to go back soon; just for the bread. LOL! I really like how health conscious they are with ingredients that don't contain nitrites or nitrates.

Yelp
What a cool little place in Corktown. It was kinda hard to figure out where to enter(side street) if you haven't been. Upon finding the entrance you quickly find all sorts of little cozy spots tucked away around the building for outside seating. When entering you will be in wine shop which is stocked with some interesting selections. You walk through a small but cool bar area to the dining area. We were promptly sat and orders taken. The lemonade is house made and delicious. My wife had the Mudgie which is smoked brisket with turkey and cream cheese and all sorts of messy deliciousness. I had the Pastrami Rueben which was equally delicious. The building had been freshened up but left as original as possible very cool space, great food and service definitely a return visit sooner than later please!

Yelp
Love this place! They also have the best hours for a sandwich place in Detroit. The Madill is my favorite sandwich so far. Also the seasonal cocktails were great. The service is always good and I love the app you order through.

Yelp
Well, this was one my faves in Detroit but last weekend was disappointing. It was Lobster week and I was really excited to try their Lobster roll. They were out of all lobster. Maybe they don't order enough? I also noticed some sandwiches are gone from the menu. So, I ordered a Reuben. They have 3 or 4 reuben choices FYI. My wife ordered potato salad and broccoli salad. They were out of broccoli. Really? One other thing that we noticed is you order from the table and prepay. So, when we were done we had to track the server down to inquire about removing the broccoli salad. The food took forever...it was about an hour. For potato salad and a sandwich? The server was not too helpful, never checked on us and we left pretty upset we had to track her down for a credit which we didn't see for 2-3 days!

Yelp
Huge selection of sandwiches with many vegetarian and vegan options. Large drink selection as well. I loved my veggie Reuben with a hearty amount of seitan and lots of sauerkraut. It came with a small serving of chips and very small slice of half-sour pickle. The pickle was so fresh and crisp, I wanted a whole one! The interior was cute and cozy and there is outdoor seating. The service was a little disappointing. You order on your phone and there is no way to customize your meal outside of the options listed. For instance I could not ask for dairy cheese instead of vegan cheese. The waitress did not ask about our orders or bring any drink refills. Granted the payment process is slick and makes it easy to split the ticket between individuals.

Yelp
Really cool spot in downtown Detroit! It's located in a huge old house it seems with a counter and wine shop in the back, a wine bar in the middle, then the kitchen and dining room in the front. Your menu is off a QR code and you can either order from your phone or by telling the waiter. Extremely attentive service. I went with the Gutty Sandwich, it has like all the meat, and it was incredible. I was so hungry and it was so good I forgot to take a picture!! They have a menu of like 20 sandwiches but I think if I went back I'd just keep getting this one. When I'm back in Detroit I will be back here.

Yelp
So for $36 after tax the lobster roll was not worth it. For $36 I'm expecting that bun to be full and opened up. For $36 I'm expecting a side of fries or in this establishment a side of chips which I've seen in the pictures. I heard great things about the roll and had to try it. In the future I will be going with establishes that really give you a bang for your buck. The lobster roll for $24 or $26 would've made more sense but for just a roll barely filled and a pickle it's a no.

Yelp
Food was solid, staff was friendly and prompt. Seating area is simple. Yelp don't lie and either do I. Eat here.

Yelp
Omg friends, you have to try this corn beef sandwich! It's seriously the best one I've ever had. Plus, the staff is so friendly, the food is authentic and delicious, and the atmosphere is just perfect.

Yelp
Awesome food and great service. The classic corn beef sandwich is tremendous! Well worth the price.

Yelp
You just can't go wrong here! Great food, great service, and a clean restaurant. Today I tried the Beefy Blue sandwich and it was delicious! My colleague got the Brooklyn and loved it. We had sides of cole slaw and caprese salad. Both excellent. Great lunch spot. I will be back!

Yelp
We were visiting Detroit on a sister trip and this place was recommended by a coworker. There is street parking available and it's close by the John King bookstore which is where we went next. We arrived before noon I think and the place quickly filled up! I split the Mandill with one of my sisters, good portion and she liked the pickle. I like the crunchy, warm bread. My husband ordered the chicken Cesar wrap which also looked yummy. Great customer service and they have a wine shop to browse. Love the decor!

Yelp
Finally got to stop in their location super cute and such a unique shop! The staff is super friendly and helpful as well! The sandwiches are super unique and different but delicious!

Yelp
Amazing breakfast and lunch sandwiches! I ate here 3 times on my 4 day trip to Detroit and I don't regret it. The first bite of the Le Fantastique was so heavenly and honestly life changing. I will be chasing that feeling every time I look for a breakfast sandwich from now on.
google avatar

Saphace A.

Yelp
Heard about this place as one of the best spots in town! I used to be a huge sandwich person, but am not anymore. I do enjoy breakfast sandwiches though ! I can't do a heavy lunch. We ordered our sandwiches online. My mom got an English muffin with pork sausage, egg, and cheese. She didn't want cheese, but there's no option for no cheese online. They need to fix this!! I got a croissant with Turkey sausage, egg, and cheddar. Very filling! Both my sisters got La Fantastique, which was egg, tomato, mayo, lettuce, and bacon. Their sandwiches were larger and closer to $10, while me and my mom's were under $9. We were all stuffed after eating!! They must bake the bread themselves as it tasted homemade!! It's such a cute place! We parallel parked in front of a building with vines all over it. There's a walk up window where we picked up the order.
google avatar

Erica S.

Yelp
The food here is always good. I've eaten here many times but I've never been to the actual location. So I can't tell you about the ambiance. Usually I order carry out whenever my coworkers say they're going. I also cannot attest to the service, but I'm assuming if it were horrible then the multiple people who order from my job would not return! I've had the turkey Reuben, the white bean and kale soup, the broccoli salad, and the tuna melt. All were delicious! Definitely recommend

Yelp
Much better experience! Better sandwiches! And even better hibiscus sangria! Mudgies has one of the best sandwiches in town

Yelp
Stopped by here for lunch with a few friends. Tiny little space with a large selection of wine available for purchase. Once at the table, you scan a QR code to view the menu. You can either order and pay online or you can do it through the waitress. I just did it online to make it easier. You have the option to close your tab right away or keep it open and pay once you're done and know you don't want anything else. They were out of stock of several items on the menu. I couldn't get the beverage I wanted because it was out of stock so got a raspberry lemonade instead. I ordered a Mudgie's sandwich and it was delicious. One of my friends got a vegan sandwich and she was pleased. They had a nice variety of vegetarian and vegan options. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. Employees were friendly. I do wish they gave us paper napkins rather than fabric ones because the sandwiches got really messy to eat and it was hard to contain the mess on my hands reusing the same fabric napkin. Overall this food is a solid choice. I would definitely come back to eat here.

Yelp
I've been coming to Mudgies for years now and had a great experience. This past Saturday is hopefully just a bump in the road but our experience was terrible. Ordered drinks all at the same time, two came out right away, two more showed up 20 min later, then my hot tea was delivered about 45 minutes after we ordered it. 2 of our drink selections were showing up as $8 but when added to the cart, it was $16. A talk with the server and then the owner, they said it was right. Second glance showed it was STILL charging $16 a piece for a canned Paloma! Our waitress never once checked on us even after 3 sandwiches got delivered and the 5 others sat waiting for an additional 40 minutes to get ours even though they were placed 5 minutes after. No one really seemed to care that we had to wait 2 hours for sandwiches and there was never an offer for making the bill right even after we notified the owner. Hope this isn't a sign of what's to come for this beloved restaurant.

Yelp
Life changing sandwiches, amazing!! The Presley is DELISH!! Tuna melt, incredible, you will love it

Yelp
Mudgies has an Interesting menu. Mudgies has a Great vibe. Not sure why the app wants me to use 85 characters when 47 sufficed. It's a great place.

Yelp
I work close to here, and probably come through once a month. Absolutely excellent service and food is usually great. The prices are starting to get on the steep side (22$ for the jerk sammy N a side) for the sandwiches esp when the size decreases. I find it varies depending on the bun size ya get. Oh well. Quality is great though so no real ding here. Only real Complaints: all basically on the beer side. The draft lines could use a good monthly cleaning as well as fresher kegs. Sometimes youll order a beer and the can will be 6 plus months old. Not so great when we are talking a 6-8 dollar IPA pint. Food can take a while when they get busy. I try to come here before noon to beat the lunch rush during the week. If your trying to get in and out with a small group its difficult when its busy.
google avatar

Caroline B.

Yelp
Food was good. Service is strange, you have to order via toast app on your phone and theres no way to modify the orders; I wanted one of my sandwiches togo and I wanted too add extra dressing on the side of another order and so I had the flag the person walking around the dinning room to tell her about my modifications. The 'server' brought out drinks and food and never came back. I was there before the pandemic (before the new owner). Previously it was more a comfortable restaurant. Food is still top notch but the ambiance feels strange because of the way you have to order. The menu is also much smaller than before.

Yelp
My friends have always raved so much about how amazing Mudgie's is and that if I was in the metro Detroit area, it would be an absolute staple to go! While I had a little down time to kill before a wedding shower, I decided to stop by. Parking was very easy, which was surprising for the time of day (like 11:30am on Saturday), and we were promptly sat when we walked in. I honestly thought we'd have a longer wait but was pleasantly surprised given their seating space is fairly small (think like 40-50 max). There was a QR code on the table for us to order (and be delivered to us through the Toast app) and we decided to split the Roasted Red Pepper and Gouda soup and the Madill Sandwich, and of course, the infamous pickles! The soup was probably my favorite part of the meal. It was flavorful, warm (but not too hot), and filled with croutons and cheese. I would have probably ordered just that and dipped some bread with it and been happy as can be. Our sandwich order, the Madill, was recommended by our server as one of the more popular items and honestly? It was a little bit of a let down. The sandwich size was great to split for a soup/sandwich combo but the turkey was a little dry and lacked flavor, the bread was good but easily forgettable and I found myself using more of the garlic mayo to boost the flavor of the sandwich. The pickle was quite good though but not your typical dill pickle and super vinegar-y. I really appreciated this and it felt very freshly made! If I could give this spot 3.5/5 stars, I definitely would but given they're known for their sandwiches, I definitely would have to rate it a 3. While I would come back again to try something else, I'm really curious what sandwich would make me say this is a 5 star, must visit in Detroit!

Yelp
Do not bother stopping here!!!! - Horrible service - Hours of business change daily - Menu old, limited, poor quality - Online menu is a joke This place should have closed years ago! Stay AWAY!

Yelp
I've been going to mudgies for years. And the quality never disappoints! The sandwhiches are all great you can't go wrong with any of them in my opinion. I used to use their catering service when I would have big meeting with my non profit. Everyone always loved the food. I even took a bit of the Reuben that I usually don't care for but I have to admit it was very good! The only thing I'm not wild about now is the pay via application, order via application gesture when you dine in. Being in Detroit this part didn't sit well with me. I know their general audience aren't Detroiters most of them are visitors and commuters. But, being a 3rd generation Detroiter I'd like to see the option to order and pay without the application. Even if most of their customers prefer the other way it's nice to have the option and not exclude customers. All in all a nice spot. Just would love for them to again reconsider the community they are in and be accessible to everyone.

Yelp
A great lunch! I had The Loyal Order of the Water Buffalo sandwich and it was so good! Our waitress took great care of us. A bit expensive, but a good treat every so often.
google avatar

Ann W.

Yelp
Did not like having to order food/drink online. Prefer a server. The sandwiches were awesome. Didn't like the drinks as much.
google avatar

Margie S.

Yelp
Cheers to great food and free on-street parking! Mudgie's never disappoints. Today we shared the Brie mushroom soup, coleslaw, the Dago and the brisket Sammy. The coleslaw was good but grab a salt shaker. The soup was excellent. The salami was grilled before going on the sandwich. Lots of yummy flavor. The brisket was super tender and nicely smoked. Great lunch!
google avatar

Christina D.

Yelp
Great sandwiches and a laid-back atmosphere. We've only stopped by for breakfast (takeout), and the bacon & egg sandwiches are our go-to. They don't skimp on the bacon! They have a really nice patio area we need to visit some time for dinner.
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
I had the best sandwich of my entire life here. It's called The Loyal Order of the Water Buffalo Mozzerella. I was initially nervous because I ordered and didn't notice that it was on rye bread (I'm generall not a fan of rye bread). So glad I didn't say anything or switch it because this bread was the fricking best.
google avatar

Caitlyn C.

Yelp
WOW! I'm not exaggerating when I say this is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. The jerk mayo was absolutely delicious and adding bacon was a smart move. They also have a large variety of chips to chose from. You order your food from an app while seated at your table and it will be brought out to you - not really able to modify anything because of that. Definitely will be back in the future to try new things!
google avatar

Yelp
Best sammiches in Detroit hands down. I make it a must stop every time I go to that state up north. Creative tasty and highest quality ingredients must go!

Yelp
My daughter and I always order breakfast burritos from Mudgie's whenever we goto the Easter Market. It's carry out only at that hour and the burritos are amazing. I get mine with a side of jam to dip and my daughter always gets avocado on hers with a side of salsa. If the rest of their food is a good as breakfast is...you should be more than pleased with what you order. Thanks for making our Saturday mornings together a little more special.
