Google
I found out about this great bakery from an old coworker. As soon as you enter, this place may seem a bit small, but they have a really good selection of decorated cakes and cupcakes, pastries, and assorted cookies by the pound. They also sell other assorted items such as mugs and T-shirts. The bakery is clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I got one of the best-selling pudding cakes as per the staffs recommendation and a couple of pounds of assorted cookies. The apple pudding cake is truly fantastic. It was so light and fluffy and not too sweet. The cookies I tried had a nice buttery taste to them. The prices here are not too bad, especially for this area. The cake was not expensive, but the cookies by the pound were a bit costly, and it was worth every penny. I see that this bakery has been around for many years. Based on the quality of the baked goods I have tried, I could truly see why this place stood the test of time. I recommend checking this place out, and I will most definitely return the next time I am in the area.

Google
Wonderful bakery that we’ve been going to for many years. Ordered a cake for my grandsons fourth birthday and his favorite color is rainbow. The cake is a work of art and absolutely delicious!

Google
This place certainly doesn't need my review to add to its reputation as an amazing bakery, local favorite and go to place for vacationers to the area - that being said, you're missing out if you don't try some of their seasonal blueberry treats, such as their blueberry/ lemon cake(s). Simply delicious. On a side note, they also make amazing cakes, for whatever occasion, and the decorations are really something special. Depending on the day and time, you might need to wait in line, however, it's worth the time. Enjoy!

Google
If you’re looking for the world’s best crumb cake, Mueller’s Bakery has it and a lot more! Old school bakery with some of the best tasting pastries you’ll ever have. And if you’re gluten intolerant, well Mueller’s is your gluten-free nirvana. I’ve never seen so many options. Words do not do this place justice—go try it for yourself. Just go early and get a number when you come in because there will be a line, but it is so worth the wait!

Google
Visited the bakery on July 7th with my family. Very cute bakery with plenty of baked goods on display. Two employees at the time, an older lady and younger lady. Older lady didn’t say a word. Younger lady acted as if we were bothering her by just being there. Cold and inhospitable. We tried the raspberry crumb cake and it was very dry and tasted as if it was sitting around all day. Incredibly unimpressed, especially for all the hype. Felt like a waste of money, calories and time.

Google
We only get to Mueller's Bakery one weekend a year but it never disappoints. The staff is always friendly and the baked goods are absolutely delicious. There is always a wide variety to choose from.. You can't go wrong no matter what you get. You will not be disappointed.

Google
A charming local establishment, offering a delightful array of baked goods and coffee that generally impress. Their selection of cookies, a major highlight, ranges from classic to inventive. While most of their cookies receive high marks for flavor and texture, those adorned with frosting tend to fall short, lacking the same appeal as their unfrosted counterparts. The bakery also serves a nice breakfast selection, which holds its own in terms of quality and taste. The options are varied enough to suit different preferences, and each baked good is prepared with care, ensuring a satisfying morning meal. Delectable danishes and turnovers to name a few. However, the service at Mueller's Bakery, particularly when ordering, could use some improvement. The interactions tend to be somewhat dry and lack the warmth you might expect in a cozy bakery setting. This aspect, while not detrimental to the overall experience, does leave room for enhancement. In summary, Mueller's Bakery is a solid choice for anyone seeking quality baked goods and a pleasant breakfast option. Their coffee pairs wonderfully with their selection of treats, making it a go-to spot for both locals and visitors. With a bit more attention to the customer service experience, this bakery could truly excel.

Google
Today, I arrived at Mueller's Bakery at 6:10 AM, which might seem crazy, but they open at 6:30, and I wanted to be the first person in the door! When you walk in on a Saturday morning at the start of the summer season, you know immediately from the aromas and the beautifully filled cases and shelves that everything is freshly baked. I selected their seasonal blueberry lemon cake for my beach house renters, and for myself, I picked out a big, beautiful cinnamon walnut (or pecan- I'm not sure) danish. I drove over to Dunkin, got myself an Iced coffee, and I sat in my car and enjoyed every bite of that danish! Their danish pastry is about the best I've ever had - except for the bakery from my childhood years- Margie's Cakebox in Scotch Plains, NJ. Every bite of my Mueller's danish today was fresh and heavenly. A lot of the danishes you find today, even from fancy bakeries in NYC, are extremely crusty, and even crunchy. I don't want that! I want to sink my teeth into soft, fluffy-layered danish with a beautiful drizzle of confectioner sugar glaze, the perfect amount of cinnamon, and a generous amount of chopped nuts. If you're looking for old school danish that you will love, you need to visit this bakery, but be prepared to wait on a long line unless you arrive before the shop opens!

Yelp
Food is awesome especially the Jersey blues menu. Ambiance is nice because it's in a nice location. Service was good.

Yelp
Easy online ordering system, cake was prepared as requested and very tasty! Only downfall, I selected strawberry inside and it barely had 1 single cut up strawberry. It was maybe 3/4 tiny pieces in the center. I would definitely order again, taste was great, but would be sure to ask for additional strawberry beyond 3/4 little baby pieces inside the cake.

Yelp
Very good bakery. They are known for their crumb cakes. They were good. I wouldn't say amazing. But certainly good. Donuts might have been better. Also. Great service on a busy summer day.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this spot for their sugar cookies - it's nostalgic and reminiscent of the cookies I had growing up. I've also tried a few of their pies and cakes, and they're quite good. When it comes to service, this is a local shop and extremely busy, especially during the summer months. Therefore, their line is insane and when they call your number, there is never really time to properly browse what they have to offer. If you try to browse before your number is called, as you should, it feels a bit too crowded and unseemly to try to poke towards the front and see the display cases properly.

Yelp
We love Mueller's coffee cake! We bring it to my great-grandmother's house every year. This week, we celebrated my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary, and we bought a cake from Mueller's for the party. It was a beautiful design (see attached picture!), and was topped with a delicious, fluffy whipped cream. The cake was a hit! Everyone came back for seconds. When we came in today (July 13) to buy coffee cake, everyone on the staff were very friendly and the line moved quickly. Mueller's also offers gluten-free cupcakes and cookies, as well as egg- and dairy-free cookies!

Yelp
Mehhhhh. The coffee was not good and the cup was scalding. The cheese ring was 8 out of 10, a tad bit too sweet. My husband said the powdered jelly donut was "awful". My daughter loved the small tie dye rainbow sprinkle cookies. Will probably return just for the cookies.

Yelp
After hearing from my sorority sister who works there about it for 15 years I finally visited and damn was it worth the wait! For the crumb to cake ratio alone! They also sell the crumbs by themselves which I highly recommend you microwave and put on top of ice cream! I also got a petit four which tasted like a love match between marzipan and cake dipped in gorgeous icing. I also got a brownie which was similar to the petit four in how moist, light and flavorful it was! I would love to go back and try absolutely everything! Jersey has some of the best bakeries I've been to throughout the world and this one is the epitome of what makes them so great! Beautiful variety, lovely service and absolutely delicious treats!

Yelp
Yet another great bakery one of the few left in the area. It's well worth the trip. A little out of the way but the town parking lot across the street always has spots.

Robert M.

Yelp
We bought their crumb cake that everyone raves about. It was all crumb and very little cake. Disappointing. Delponte's bakery in Bradley Beach is still the best in my book.

Dave M.

Yelp
heard alot about this place and i don't see the attraction, bought a piece of crumb cake 2&1/2 square inch for $2.75,gone in 4 bites, really, been here 30 years and won.t be going back there, better place on rt.88 in brick called mikes crumb cake factory, wow! now that is a place for crumb cake!
google avatar

Julie L.

Yelp
Bakery is good but prices are unreasonable. I'll make my own brownies at these prices!
google avatar

Michael I.

Yelp
Awesome ! Bakery goods excellent I have never been disappointed in their bakery products.

Tara C.

Yelp
Visited today and found everything to be subpar. The 7 layer cake was tasteless and dry. The crumb cake seemed stale, it's a yeasted cake that was dry and the crumbs were very hard with a very, very thick powdered sugar coating that had an artificial aftertaste. Boston cream donuts had an off, almost metallic, taste. Apple turnovers insipid, sadly everything we bought lacked flavor. We missed tasting butter, vanilla, and all things that make desserts special. We sampled many products and were hard pressed to find anything we really liked. Muellers has a very loyal following, sadly I cannot join the "club". I will say it was very clean with a lovely staff!
google avatar

Chris Z.

Yelp
Good classic NJ style crumb cake with thick crumb layer and yeast cake. $30 total shipped to PA. A little steep but worth the occasional splurge.

Yelp
I am very sad to write this unfavorable review for this bakery, since I have used this establishment for years now! My daughter ordered ,in advance , 24 plus two egg free cupcakes for my twin grandsons 5th birthday celebration. All the cupcakes were so stale that even the children didn't eat them. $60.plus , Poorly spent!

Razor M.

Yelp
People stand out here for hours waiting on their orders I don't understand why. Waiting over an hour for two donuts is just absurd. They need to hire more people or make a pick up line/window for quick pastry orders or figure out a better process. The crumb cake is okay I have certainly had better it's very thin and the cake part is not as tasty as others I have had . Their cookies are decorative but not tasteful

Stanley S.

Yelp
Actually better than before (is that possible) As good as I remember. It has been a few years since we were here as we skipped the shore on our last few visits back home. The bakery was hopping when we went on a Monday afternoon. They have increased their variety of goods, especially in their cakes. Still, though the best offering is the crumb cake square. It has become pricier topping out at $18; when we first started getting it in the mid 80's, I think it was like $3. Yikes! They also make the crumb buns with various jams. The staff was helpful and friendly so much so that I didn't care that I paid $18 for a 10 inch square.
google avatar

Betsy S.

Yelp
This bakery has everything! Wow-so many choices. I ended up bringing apple pie and banana nut loaf home. I really would have liked to have taken more home. The employees are very friendly and helpful as well. Make sure not to visit on a Monday as that is when they are closed. But always a good reason to come back!

Yelp
Been thinking about the best places to eat in Monmouth and Ocean County recently and any list without Mueller's is completely invalid. In my opinion at least. People (capital L) Love the crumbcake and it doesn't even make my top list for the best bakery around: the donuts are top notch, apple turnovers are a must, and the range of danishes are out of this world. My father in law from North Carolina insists on this as a stop to get their bear claws. Go early, go often - Bay Head's finest!
google avatar

Marie D.

Yelp
What might you think when you see people lining up to buy something and it's not even the day before a holiday? Maybe, they must be selling something pretty good, there. They are. Crumb buns!! In several yummy flavors! My favorite was the traditional (plain) though it was fun to taste the glazed and raspberry (?) glazed. Don't miss them.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow, what a beautiful and delicious spot! We grabbed 2 cakes to bring to a friends beach house as her family was inviting us! The crumb cake it delish but we also grabbed a blueberry pocket pie- the custard and crust is to die for. Loved it! We also grabbed a layer Beach cake, so cute and also delicious!! Would recommend you stop by, this is a MUST. I also noticed they had dairy free, GF, vegan options as well!!

Yelp
I was in Bay Head for 3 days and I went to Mueller's Bakery every day. So much variety to choose from, had to go back every day to try out all their specialities. The bakery had lines every day we went. It moved pretty quickly though. Like more places, mask is required to be worn prior to to entry. The crumb cake was pretty nice - it was different and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I ended up bringing a slab back to NYC as apparently it freezes well. My other favourites are the chocolate eclairs and the blueberry custard in a pastry topped with powdered sugar. Those were sooo good. Prices are pretty decent - definitely cheaper than city prices. Each purchase was nicely boxed with love. Cash and card are accepted. Will definitely be coming back here next time I am in Bay Head.

Jane M.

Yelp
Great bakery, always fresh and delicious. Our favorite place to visit when we are down the shore.

Nicholas B.

Yelp
The crazy thing is I am normally a complainer. I can't say anything bad about this place.
google avatar

Holly And T.

Yelp
Was ok but not as I remembered it. The crumb cake was hard as a brick. While I wanted it to be amazing, just couldn't get over how tough it was and we couldn't get a knife through the crumb (the cake part was quite soft). Wish it were better. Staff, as always, was kind and thoughtful. Will try something else next time we are in
google avatar

Damian D.

Yelp
Terrific bread, pastries, and pies. We grabbed a Key Lime pie to bring to a party in Manasquan, and it was well received. Prices are fair, given that it's in $$$$ Bay Head, loads of parking across the street, and the staff behind the counter keeps the inevitable lines moving quickly. A NJ shore classic! (Edited to add-the preppy blonde Bay Head moms are easy on the eyes, too)!
google avatar

Patricia N.

Yelp
Ok, yah, I'm a fan but on this fifth trip to Jersey shore this season, I stop by to pick up 4 or 5 different specialty items. Since It's blueberry season, I tried the blueberry flats, the blueberry crumb cake, the blueberry fritters and the blueberry strudel. I read on FB the bakery offered these challah bread pretzels powdered in cinnamon sugar and excited to try them. So disappointed in them (see photo)! They were baked on one side but underside was burnt and couldn't see that on display rack. I love sweets and we walk there while in town. Great job baking ladies, everything else was on point!

Helena F.

Yelp
The best bakery in Bay, Head and the surrounding area. In my opinion there's usually a line out the door, but it's definitely worth the wait! My favorites are the jelly donuts and the most incredible crumb cake!
google avatar

Ann M.

Yelp
Crumb cakes are amazing I like the glazed! But powdered is good too. Cakes are amazing! They designed my themed wedding cake. It was Disney/StarWars theme. (I can't seem to find a picture at the moment it was in 2018.)Not only did it look great but it tasted great!

Carol B.

Yelp
Best bakery at the shore. The crumb cake will not disappoint. Run don't walk to get in line!.

Dianna M.

Yelp
Went in for a cupcake for my birthday. Walked out with an apple and almond danish and an entire carrot cake ! They have a huge variety of bakery items ! Ate the danishes in the shop . Delicious! Can't wait to eat the cake !
google avatar

Erica L.

Yelp
Drove about 45 minutes just to get these frogs. Nostalgia for me. We used to get these every year for St. Patrick's Day but you can't find them around here anymore. These are just like I remember, overly sweet fondant, the icing in the middle was good, not too sweet. Icing in middle was pink which always makes me laugh when you eat them. Well worth the trip, took me down memory lane

Tracy D.

Yelp
Wow. Wow. Wow!!! Pastry's.....awesome. Crumb cake...excellent. Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake...OUT OF THIS WORLD. I'm from NJ and was renting a place at the beach. My recommendation: YA GOTTA GO to Mueller's. Trust me you will not regret it but your waistline might!!

Martin J.

Yelp
Get there early. At 6am the line goes out the door. Great cakes and pastries. Have a nice day.
google avatar

Carina P.

Yelp
Albeit long, Mueller's is offering a stellar delivering service during COVID-19 phase 3!! Their website is very clear, and warn customers that if you order delivery Fri-Sun (and you live in a 10 mile radius) you will receive your goodies the next day. MY Mueller's order was (eventually) hand-delivered to me in Sea Girt by 2pm the next day!! Prior to this delivery, I had never tried their blueberry scones! I have to say they are delicious and honestly taste like a one of the better blueberry muffins out there.
google avatar

Mario S.

Yelp
The jelly donuts are the best! Also the German Pretzels are real good when they have them!
google avatar

Alyssa S.

Yelp
I'm very disappointed to be writing this review. I ordered 26 cupcakes for my son's birthday party this past weekend. The total for 26 cupcakes was an upwards of $70. I was told the cupcakes didn't have to be refrigerated when I got them and that should have been my first clue that something was off. I ordered them for pick up on Friday as the party was Saturday, but decided that for fresher cupcakes I would ask to pick them up Saturday morning. In my mind the cupcakes would be made the day of to ensure "freshness". When I called Thursday to let them know my change of day the person said and I quote, "The cupcakes are ready so pick them up Friday or Saturday it doesn't matter." I thought I must have misheard. When we got them on Saturday they were stale and dry. The icing on the vanilla cupcakes was greasy. The chocolate icing was the only thing I enjoyed about these $70 cupcakes. I won't be ordering from them again.
google avatar

Heidi K.

Yelp
Best crumb cake EVER!! Can't wait to visit again. Blueberry is especially yummy! Get there early or you could miss out.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
We got here 10min before they closed, and everything was still so fresh. highly recommend the chocolate cheese claw.
google avatar

Erin D.

Yelp
Updating this review-- Mueller's is back! My Grandma says this is the way she always remembers it! They definitely readjusted their pans and the crumb cake has been perfect. Lucious crumbs with very little cake underneath. Simply the best!! So happy. ----------------------------------------------------

Yelp
On Bridge Avenue in Bayhead, Mueller's Bakery is a bustling bakery tucked between businesses in a blue building. You take a number and even during off peak times it is jamming with customers. Coffee cakes, pies, donuts , cookies big and small, danishes, special occasion cakes , brownies, etc etc in glass cases waiting for you to choose. Credit card orders available for $10 and over purchases. Tip jars for good service on the counters. The blueberry pudding cake was moist and delicious filled with blueberries and was a crowd pleaser. The danish ring with pecans was also tasty. The presentation was wonderful and made dessert a breeze. Will return for sure
google avatar

Ed R.

Yelp
Visited this bakery while I was in the area crabbing and was told by my friend that they have great crumb cake. Stopped by when we were done and they were pretty busy for a weekday afternoon. I got right to business and ordered two pieces of crumb cake and also got a cherry/almond turnover because it looked really good. My friends got donuts too which are supposed to be very good as well but I decided to stay just moderately chubby and stuck with what I got. They have a huge assortment of cakes, pies, and pastries and the service was pleasant and quick. I will tell you that the crumb cake was some of the best I've had, the glaze added a nice touch....cherry turnover was really good too. They definitely got my return business when I'm in the area. Definitely recommended.

Joseph K.

Yelp
What else is there to say about this place that hasn't already been said? Incredibly friendly staff, fresh baked goods, and great pricing. Probably not gonna find a better traditional bakery in NJ.
google avatar

Jimmy P.

Yelp
The Beat Cookies, pastry and coffee on the shore! Worth the wait in line. A staple if you are in the Bay Head area.
google avatar

Frank M.

Yelp
oh my god, this bakery is the best. I will travel and stand on line just to get a jelly stick. Everything is fresh and so delicious. Well worth the trip and wait

Vivienne D.

Yelp
Excellent pastries and perfect crumb cake! It's worth the drive! Everyone enjoyed the jelly donuts also.
google avatar

Mark R.

Yelp
Blueberry Fritter.....Wow. Crumb Cake Yes Please, Definitely hit it when in town. Get there early as it can get crowded.
google avatar

Doreen P.

Yelp
Great baked goods.. last minute cakes are beautifully decorated.. stopped in for some breakfast treats and picked out an exceptional variety of doughnuts, muffins and crumb cake.. one little disappointment was the apple turnover.. very sugary and light on the apples.. but other than that there's really a great selection here for this local bakery

Yelp
Mueller's Bakery in Bay Head, NJ has been my family's favorite bakery since I was a child. From gorgeous custom birthday cakes, cookies and brownies to fresh bread & rolls, crumb buns, crumb cake, donuts and delicious coffee, Mueller's has something for everyone! My families favorites; powdered jelly donuts, chocolate frosted brownies, sugar cookies, glazed & powdered sugar crumb cake, hot cross buns and pumpkin nut muffins. Nice to see the same employees after all these years and the staff is very happy & friendly. You can tell they love their jobs! Follow their Instagram for weekly specials, custom hours and lovely photos of their yummy baked goods! Ordering from out of state is easy, affordable and I've never had an issue with damaged goods. Friendly tip; their crumb cake freezes beautifully so don't be shy about grabbing an extra for the freezer, it'll defrost in no time if you leave it out on the counter. Even though I live in North Carolina now, I'm very pleased to still have the pleasure of enjoying my childhood favorites from NJ. Thanks a million, Mueller's!
