The 18 Best Korean Restaurants In SF - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Ask us where to go for a relaxed Korean dinner, and the answer will be Muguboka. This place on Balboa and 5th Avenue in the Richmond is chill, quiet, and homey—basically, all the words you want to hear if a quick dinner alone or with a buddy is on the agenda, and you have an aversion to overly fussy. There’s always a table, a big screen TV that plays things like Wheel of Fortune on mute, and the staff is attentive and friendly. A constant stream of neighborhood regulars pack this place to fill up on comforting dishes. The tofu soup is perfectly velvety, with a balanced spicy-sour broth, and the kimchi pancake is full of flavor and not overly oily. And turn to the Korean BBQ section, where you’ll find a reasonably priced and well-charred galbi and a beautifully marinated bulgogi." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong

Google
This place is it. If you’re looking for cozy Korean food with a solid array of soup options, look no further, this place is it. I’ve been here once to try various soups (unpictured), and they were great. This time, I tried their bibimbap and tofu soup. Also fantastic. The bibimbap comes sizzling in its stone pot and gets crispy if you let it sit. Complementary banchan and fried mandoo. Service is also very responsive and attentive. Clean tables.

Google
Best casual Korean food in Sf. They gave us two extra dishes on the house which I was debating ordering earlier but didn’t. It’s like they knew!

Google
Everything was great! The food, staff, ambience. Its a cute little restaurant, perfect for families and friends. The staff was super accommodating and they altered the dishes for us since most of us don’t eat red meat. We tried the Soft Tofu, Duk Boki, Korean Kimchi Pancakes and Bibimbap. Each dish was great, the bibimbap was a little bland but the sides made up for that.

Google
A homey neighborhood place. The BEST Korean food my husband and I have had for awhile. Very friendly service. It took no time for all the hot dishes to arrive. Will definitely come back.

Google
This place has a lot of nice options of Korean food. The staff is friendly and they usually give you free small appetizers and even a soup! The gyoza 🥟 and beef ribs are my favorites! 👌🏼 it is a small family restaurant, so sometimes the service is slow

Google
Muguboka is a small Korean restaurant, but the food was clean-tasting and truly delicious. It was the best restaurant I visited during my trip. Although we had to wait for a table because it was so crowded during lunchtime, it was definitely worth the wait. The food also came out quickly after we ordered. If you visit San Francisco, I highly recommend eating at this place. Since it's in an area with a lot of tourists, it took some time to find parking.

Google
The seafood pancake was definitely the best, it had a chewy center and good amount of crust. But most importantly, they actually packed it with seafood unlike other restaurants. The tofu soup was good, not overly impressive, only had abit of beef. You get a decently large amount of food for the price, but regardless it’s still expensive and NOT $20-30 per person.

Andrea Santos

Google
no frills family owned korean restaurant serving the classics. wasn’t really impressed with any of the dishes and service was pretty slow. overall, not rushing to come back but glad i tried. tteokbokki: standard dish, decent but lacked a bit of flavor tofu soup: wish they included an egg and overall lacked spice and beef portions

Yelp
First time diner and we were quite impressed. The restaurant is on the corner and is bright with natural light. Seats around 40? Only challenge is parking can be a little tough in the quasi business and residential neighborhood. Pleasantly surprised to see adjacent tables of older Koreans ordering the same dishes as us. We had: Kalbitang (lots of meat, not oily, noodles, and enough to share for two), Kalbijim (also lots of meat, very good taste, reminded me of Chinese Beef Stew but a little sweeter), Mandu (crispy, small ones), Japchae (meatless and a little oily). Scissors definitely needed if you're sharing so that you can cut the meat off the bone and into bite-sized pieces. Service is excellent, we had three people and were given bowls for soup and three bowls of rice. Banchan was the common items except for a sweetened pickled root type thingy. The Kimchee was spicier than what we're used to. All in all, we liked and we'll be back!

Yelp
We came here for dinner on a Saturday evening around 6:30pm. The restaurant was filled except for one 2-person table. We came at the perfect time because after we sat down, several more groups came and had to wait. This restaurant has very mom and pop vibes. After we placed our orders, the food came out pretty quick. I ordered the Dolsott Bibimbap. This had everything you would expect in a bibimbap. The portion was perfect for me. Overall, the bibimbap was decent.

Yelp
Very homey place that serves amazing Korean food. Definitely a mom and pop restaurant that served large portions of authentic Korean food. Got the bulgogi and the kimchi tofu soup. The bulgogi was amazing, it has this charcoal, smoky taste in it and it was SOOO GOOD. Will definitely come back for it again. The kimchi tofu soup was definitely enough for two people to share. It's different from most Korean places in that I tasted a mushroom base to it? Personally I don't like mushrooms so wasn't for me but it was still really good. Great service, attentive and they even gave us beef and vegetable fried mandu on the house!

Yelp
Delicious and homey vibes for food. One of my favorite korean restaurants in the city by far

Yelp
I stopped in on a windy Sunday afternoon. There was a bit of a chill in the air and I wanted something to warm me up. I hadn't heard of the location-/ I just rolled the dice today. The place was empty! I had it all to myself. And I was greeted kindly and promptly. I was pleasantly surprised at a fresh, hot cup of tea offered as I sat down. The restaurant is simple and was very clean. There are hand sanitizer bottles lining the windows so you for sure would not be in need for sanitized hands haha. I decided to go with the sautéed calamari and got some friend chicken to go for later. I didn't realize there would be such a beautiful spread. The owners also brought me out a soup, on the house, which was so kind. Maybe because I was the first person of the day? Who knows?! I got a chance to witness some of the interaction among the staff and some locals that came in. I enjoyed how homey the atmosphere was; the hospitality in the spirit of the owners is evident. I even loved the choice of ice cube the one where the liquid moves through it-- ooweee. Sautéed calamari, wings to go, and a Diet Coke; $52.14. I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. It's sometime to take your time with. Sit. Enjoy. Taste it. 5/5; 10/10; worth the price everytime. Tip em well. Will be back.

Yelp
Food: Side dishes were pretty good. There was more variety that I typically see at korean restaurants (ie broccoli) which was cool. I got the bibimbap ($21) and it was a pretty decent serving size. It was exactly what you would expect from your typical bibimbap; a runny egg yolk pillowed by crunchy spinach, bean sprouts, carrots, etc. I kind of like that the rice was served in a separate bowl because it made mixing everything a lot easier. We also got a complimentary dish of jin mandu (aka fried dumplings) which were delicious as well. Service: We came during a dinner rush so perhaps thats why servers were not super attentive. Had to wave them down a couple of times to get refills/requests. Nonetheless, staff are polite and fast! Overall: Parking can be difficult and it was a very busy Saturday night so be prepared to wait. The food is pretty solid korean comfort food, wide selection of banchan. Would definitely swing by again!

Yelp
One of my favorite mom and pop Korean restaurants in sf. They have one of the best banchan in the city and the 2 times I've gone here they've given us free mandu. Gal bee tang - soup overwhelmingly tasted like garlic but the meat was super tender and generous portion Yang gop Chang bokeum (beef intestine) - really great flavor and pretty big portion Gopchang jungul (tripe) - great flavor and portion I've also tried their seafood pancake and cold noodles which were great It is on the pricier side but the service is great and the banchans are my fav

Yelp
Discovered this place while en route to buy borscht from Cinderella Bakery/Cafe. Staff is minimal, but super efficient. We were sat with barley tea in cups as we perused our menus. Food came out fast and they even gave us tofu soup on the house! Highly recommend trying yuk hwe (raw sliced beef seasoned with salt, sugar, sesame oil, pepper, garlic, and garnished with Korean pear, raw egg yolk). Definitely a local spot/would come back!
google avatar

Helen L.

Yelp
My favorite Korean restaurant. It has all my favorites. 1. You get barley tea 2. Free tofu soup if you have 2 people or more. A bit of a kick but excellent flavor and lots of tofu. 3. Spice level is mild enough for me and I'm not a spice gal. 4. Kimchi, excellent. 5. The kal Bee is excellent. Tip: go during lunch M to F, no holidays. Order the lunch special from 11 am to 3 pm. Thank me later. My pic saids it all, lots of meat and bones for you to gnaw at. 6. Fast service. Once you sit down, you get water and menu. 7. Best variety bancha old school, about 10 plates, I exaggerate, maybe at least 8. 8. We were too full, but the have the best seafood pancake ($27) when you actually see and taste seafood. If you don't like green onions, you might not like their version. 9. Very attentive waitress. When you ask for something, she will follow through. She is the only server, but a guy comes out of kitchen to bring your order out. 10. I love this place.

Yelp
My son wanted to eat Korean for his birthday and I didn't feel like smelling like barbecue so we ventured to Muguboka, who's dining room feels like you're eating an authentic home-cooked meal at a Korean friend's home. The service was friendly and quick. The banchan are so fresh and tasty, and you can request for seconds. The japchae is flavorful and not greasy. We also enjoyed the bulgogi and spicy pork. Last but not the least, they gave us complimentary kimchi soup, which was warming and comforting. We will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious as always. I think the prices went up a bit similar to most restaurants these days. This day we ordered the pancake, galibi jjim and the kalbi and the tofu soup was on the house.
google avatar

Kas T.

Yelp
6 years later, and this is still our favorite neighborhood Korean restaurant. We have dinner here at least once a week. Everything is always perfect - the kalbi, soon dubu, naeng meng, bibimbap. Panchan is plentiful and fresh. Owners are so kind, making sure our kid has the seaweed for his bap and kid utensils / bowl.
google avatar

Adam T.

Yelp
One of my favorite Korean spots in the city. Mom and pop run, cozy, and casual -- this is a great place to unwind with quality food. Tofu bibimbap was delicious. Mackerel was juicy. And sides on point. Friendly service. High marks!

Yelp
Muguboka Restaurant is a gem in San Francisco for anyone craving authentic Korean cuisine. From the moment we walked in, we felt a warm, welcoming vibe that perfectly complemented the feast we were about to enjoy. The banchan here is a love language of its own--vibrant, plentiful, and packed with flavor. Each small dish was a delightful surprise, they refill it whenever we asked for it. The variety and quality of the banchan was excellent. Midway through our meal, the server brought us a surprise plate of mandu, on the house! These little dumplings were crispy, and flavorful, ! It's rare to find a place that serves great food and makes you feel valued as a guest. This spot makes you feel like you are walking into a Korean umma's house.
google avatar

Dennis T.

Yelp
We were really craving Korean food and decided to try this place. After seeing all the good reviews, maybe our expectations were too high because we thought the food fell flat. The bulgogi seemed like it had been frozen - it was a bit watery and felt almost undercooked. It lacked the sweetness and char that usually make it so good. They never asked about our preferred spice level for the sundubu, so it was slightly bland, and it also didn't come with a raw egg to crack in. The mandu guk wasn't bad, just a bit salty. I also feel like Muguboka is on the pricier side. That said, the staff and service were friendly and attentive. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but overall, it was a miss for us. We left still craving Korean. Maybe we'll give it another shot if we're in the area.

Molly S.

Yelp
Very nice server and delicious food! We've been looking for a reliable homey Korean place in SF, and this has the cozy feel and homemade taste we were looking for. Plus the kimchi was particularly good. We'll be back for sure!
google avatar

Lisa X.

Yelp
Sometimes I forget about Muguboka because it's on a quiet stretch of Balboa and 5th Avenue. We tried them many years ago and thought they were just okay, but came back recently to try again and thought the food greatly improved. On our most recent visit, we enjoyed the Mool Naengmyeon (Korean Cold Noodle Soup). This noodle soup is Northern Korean in origin and really delicious. The Sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew) and the Bbq Chicken were also yummy. Good variety of banchan. Located on Balboa St. and 5th Ave.
google avatar

Christine D.

Yelp
Was craving Galbijim and Muguboka delivered! The serving size was smaller than some other places, but it was absolutely perfect so we could have the seafood pancake as well. For two people, we even had leftovers!
google avatar

Erica W.

Yelp
Pre-ordered for pickup. Galbi was delicious but definitely priced high for the portion size. Seafood pancake is excellent. Tender seafood. Japchae was terrible. Something so off... maybe not fresh. Bibimbap was average and pricey for take-out (unfortunately, rice isn't crisp, fried so it's not the same) - leave this for in-house eating. Overall, $130+ for four dishes and extra banchan was a bit pricey when one dish was a throw away.
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
Very nice and quick service, felt like you were going over to your aunties house for a meal but overall thought the kimchi jjigae was just ok. I appreciated that it came out hot and bubbly, but wish there was more pork and the flavor was ok. The rice was cooked well and I enjoyed most of the banchans.

Jonathan K.

Yelp
The food there was incredible. Server was very polite and fast. The only thing is that parking was not the easiest to find but after a bit we found a spot. They also gave us some free dumplings as "service"! Would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Maria G.

Yelp
This is our go to Korean place in the city. It's like visiting your aunts place when you are hungry and they are always ready for you. Their dishes have that home cooked meal type and feel. We especially love the chicken soup (Samgyetang) with the whole chicken stuffed with sticky rice. Winter, spring, summer or fall - we get this soup. After this place, we have always ordered Samgyetang every time we see it on the menu but this place has it best. Seafood pancakes are delicious, kalbi and bulgolgi are amazing too. Everything we will order again.
google avatar

Caitlyn M.

Yelp
Great Korean food! This spot is a no frills restaurant that serves homey Korean cooking. We came for dinner on Friday at about 5:45pm and we were seated right away. They give you a bunch of different banchans (side dishes) to accompany your meal and you can ask for refills of the banchan throughout your meal. We enjoyed all of them but especially liked the fish cake and the radish kimchi. We ordered the seafood pancake, the soft tofu soup, kimchi jjigae, and the dol sot bibimbap. Everything was excellent! The seafood pancake was big, had lots of seafood, and was very crispy. It was not oily at all which was nice because sometimes the pancakes can be oily. The soft tofu soup and kimchi jjigae came out boiling hot and both had a lot of flavor and were delicious. Definitely recommend the bibimbap in the dol sot over the regular one. When it's cooked in the dol sot, it's cooked in a stone pot so the rice has some amazing crunchy bits at the bottom. The staff at the restaurant were so nice! It seemed like it was family run. They also gave us some japchae on the house and it was very flavorful.
google avatar

Liz R.

Yelp
The service is great! A lot of Koreans go to this restaurant so I bet this is authentic Korean food. The food is good, but the portion of the dish is kind of small compared to the price. So far it was a good experience.
google avatar

Simone O.

Yelp
I had this placed bookmarked but forgot why, but after eating here realized it was totally accepting of my bookmark! A small Korean shop run by only a couple people, but the Korean Ajumma was so nice and even joking around with us a little bit. We had a large party, arrived there around 3pm on a Saturday with a party of 10 and they were able to accommodate us. They had room for maybe 15 more people besides us in the restaurant. They also ended up giving us some free japchae during our meal as well which was super kind. I would definitely love to come back for their lunch specials (only offered M-F and until 3pm). Four of us decided to share a couple dishes and they gave us four bowls of rice despite us ordering two meat plates and then two appetizers. They also gave a ton of variety of banchan which was delicious. Yukhwe (5/5): Raw meat with asian pear yum!! This was the first time I've eaten raw meat like this and when it first came out some pieces were a little frozen still but it made the texture kind of like biting into a pear and the flavor of the meat was still there. Bul Go Gee (5/5): A good grilled meat plate, lots of flavor. Comes out steaming and delicious. Daeji Bul Go Gee? (5/5): Forgot the actual name but it's right under the bulgogi on the menu, not super spicy but was very red. Hae Mool Pa Jun (5/5): So delicious, and a massive serving. The seafood inside is plentiful as well, with a lot of octopus tentacles (my favorite) and dipping sauce on the side.
google avatar

Jane K.

Yelp
Had lunch with family. We ordered a variety of dishes: dumpling soup, short rib soup, fried chicken with sauce, steamed codfish with special sauce, and pollock stew with vegetables in spicy sauce. Omg, all of them were delicious! We were very stuffed after eating. The side dishes were also very tasty. Staffs were very friendly and The restaurant isn't very big, so if you want to go with a large group, it's better to make a reservation in advance. We'll definitely go back to try other dishes with the family soon.

Yelp
Here's why 5 stars. My first time here. Due to scheduling, I needed to get some takeout before 5pm, and I saw Muguboka opened at 430p. When I looked inside I saw people in there already, so I walked in and noted some folks sitting at a table . A woman approached and asked if I wanted to sit but I said no - just a takeout order of tteokbokki. She asked if I wanted some tea while I waited (so nice!), but I preferred to wait outside. On the sidewalk I check the time -- it's 415pm. Dear Reader, I had walked in before they were even open. It hit me that the people seated were the staff, relaxing before opening. The woman brought me my food and I apologized profusely, I didn't realize I was there before service started. She was incredibly gracious about the whole thing. Compared to the norm of being told "we're actually not open yet, can you come back in 20 minutes?" I had been treated like a regular customer or a family member. Everyone who says "mom and pop" and "family owned" nailed it about Muguboka. You can get takeout everywhere in the City but very few places welcome you so warmly. Tteokbokki were yummy, and they included a nice assortment of banchan in a cute tray. Will definitely return!

Yelp
A great authentic korean restaurant that makes you feel like your grandma made you a homecooked meal on a rainy day. These aunties have been running this shop for years and they are everything like you see in the movies! Super sweet but will definitely scold you for not eating enough! (jokingly ofc they won't actually) I absolutely love their banchan (side dishes) they are always prepared so well and genuinely each of them taste homemade and delish. There are other restaurants where I've only liked a couple of them and the rest have this almost plastic taste, but not here! They definitely know what they are doing and if you get the seaweed, you came at the right time! It's my favorite. I think for those saying the soup is bland, I've def seen some variance in their spices, but their shop isn't what I'd call in the service business where theyll cater to every little thing. I like that they don't give too many options and do what they think will taste best. Their spice level, to me, on average would be a little kick that gives you some chest hair but if you're looking to be in pain from your food you are in the wrong place. They balance their spice so you can genuinely taste the other flavors. Must get: galbi, seafood pancakes, soonduboo, bibimbap
google avatar

Ryan T.

Yelp
Me and the wifey been comin' here for nearly a half decade. Very homey meals and taste authentic compared to the most spots in the City. The banchan (side dishes) here are top-notch, and they keep the refills coming. We loved them all, but the fish cake and radish kimchi were standouts. For the mains, we went with the seafood pancake, soft tofu soup, kimchi jjigae, and dol sot bibimbap. Everything was spot on. The seafood pancake was huge, packed with seafood, and crispy without being greasy--seriously, no oily mess here. The soft tofu soup and kimchi jjigae came piping hot and bursting with flavor, both dishes being super comforting. We go here every time we are craving Korean. I like the tea they serve with it as well. To-go packaging is on-point too if you don't want to dine in. There's plenty of seating but can get packed because its where the OGs go. That's when you know its fire. Pancake and tofu soup are our go to.

Yelp
Stop right there. Scrolling for Korean food cravings? You just found the best place in San Francisco. Muguboka is the vibe you want to get when you hit up an Asian restaurant. It's an amazing small spot run by the ajummas who give excellent service to their patrons. More than just excellent service and just plain old vibes, this place gives some bomb homemade Korean food that isn't bar food. Haemul pa jun (seafood pancake), al chige (spicy pollack roe stew), sam gyeop sal (pork belly), gal bee (barbecued short ribs), yukgae jang (spicy beef soup), all making my lineup and knocking it out of the park. Parking is hard to find, but well worth it. I basically refuse to go anywhere else at this point and I think once you go here, you'll feel the same.

Virgie J.

Yelp
Everything we ordered tasted homemade good! Service was fast, they were very accommodating and ambiance makes you feel right at home! Their side dishes were all tasty and good amount. The Galbi were very tender and had good flavor, a little pricey but very much worth it! The seafood tofu soup was spot on - just the right spiciness but the overall flavor was great, I wish it had more soup! The seafood pancake was a great size and had lots of seafood - namely shrimp and squid! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
wow. we stumbled into this place after a concert at golden gate park and wow what a find. an authentic korean hole in the wall run by ajummas - i guarantee you'll be able to taste their hard labor and love. the food was incredible, warm, and rich in flavor. the tteokbokki is a must order: pillowy, creamy, and simply to die for. they even gave us crispy potstickers on the house. they've curated such a warm, real space for delicious korean cooking. definitely a new favorite

Yelp
Thanks yelp for helping us to find this hidden gem in the Richmond. Muguboka is a friendly and family ran business and best on the first review has been around for over 17years. We ordered a few dishes for our party of 6 and portions were big and had enough to bring home as well. Bul Go Gee Fried Chicken Oyster Jun Dhan Jang Chige Ojingeo-bokkeum Galbi Fried Mandoo Complimentary japche All the dishes flavored well and executed perfectly - you can the elders cooking in the back. It's like being back in Hilo w/ my eomeonim cooking dinner. Service was also excellent and staff very attentive, filling up our water and giving us more Banchan. Will mark this restu as a return when we're looking for non-trendy, home-meal Korean spot in the city. Also they have cold noodles!! gamsahamnida!

Yelp
A cute mom and pop Korean restaurant that is pretty small but we were able to get seating for our party of 4 at around 5 pm on a Sunday night. The staff was so kind and helpful, always refilling our tea kettle and checking up to make sure everything was good. We also loved the different banchan they gave in the beginning like the fish tofu, cucumbers and kimchi. HaeMul Pa Jun (Seafood & Veggie Pancake) - One of mine and my dad's favorite seafood pancakes that we've tried. The pancake is loaded with so many ingredients and has a batter that is light and airy. The sauce on the side is what adds the sweet and savory flavor. Gal Bee (Short Ribs) - The pieces they give are so big, juicy and soft. The meat easily comes off the bone and the marinated sauce gives the meat a lot of sweetness and richness. Seafood Soft Tofu - The dish came out hot and a perfect level of spiciness. It was rich, salty, sweet and a very comforting dish. Everything from the tofu to different seafoods were the perfect consistency inside. Dolsott Bibimbap - Always get it in the stone pot because it makes the rice at the bottom crunchy and adds another layer of texture to the dish. Pretty classic with the vegetables, meat and sauce but tasted good all together. Overall, so well priced for the portions and quality of food we got. I highly recommend it if you're in the Richmond area wanting some traditional Korean dishes.

Yelp
A cozy restaurant with really good food! They give you the standard amount of small dishes, just what you'd expect at a Korean restaurant. We had the Galbi Tang and the kimchi Sam Gyeop Sal, they were both so delicious but especially the Galbi Tang! The broth was so full of flavor, and the Galbi was tender which barely took effort to eat, it perfect with the bowls of rice they provide. I believe they are run by a couple and they are kind people. We cannot wait to come back and try the Galbi next time. They do have a lunch menu listed for M-Thu but we believe they are no longer operating for lunch M-Thu, it might be a Friday only offer.

Yelp
The food was okay, the experience and serbvice was also okay. This was the first time trying this place with my grandson who loves to eat. It felt very unwelcolming like we were an afterthought. I think we were just pushed off so while we thought the food was fairly good, the overall experience was "meh" and even though it is around the corner from my house, we will most likely not go back, and from our experience, I don't think they care either way.
google avatar

Yelp
No frills Korean BBQ restaurant which is fine with me. I ordered the Dak Gu Ee which is boneless BBQ chicken. Portions were good enough to be at least a meal and a half for me. I appreciate the fact that the marinade they used to season gave it flavor but not too much.

Yelp
My friends and I had a great experience here. We arrived before 6 PM, so getting seats and parking was easy. The ambiance was very homey, not too noisy. The ahjummas were very helpful with their recommendations. We tried the seafood pancake, bibim naengmyeon, samgyetang, and galbijjim, and also ordered the plain makgeolli, which was strong but still enjoyable. The seafood pancake stood out for having more protein than batter, which was a refreshing change from places that overdo the batter. My first time having samgyetang was in Korea, and I found it both refreshing and satisfying. My friends agreed it was excellent. My husband loved his bibim naengmyeon--no complaints there. The galbijjim's sauce was so delicious that we kept using our spoons to scoop it up, though the galbi could have been a bit more tender. They also treated us to some sundubu-jjigae on the house, which was a nice bonus. Overall, a great dining experience!

Yelp
We came to Muguboka Restaurant to celebrate Mother's Day. It was just my husband and myself. My daughter was studying for finals. I like the atmosphere and found it very warm, homey, authentic and organized. I ordered the Kalbi Tang (beef short rib soup) and my hubby ordered the Dhan Jang Chige (Bean paste soup with tofu & vegetables). We also ordered Jap Chae (glass noodle with vegetables & beef). We were served 7 little plates of banchan and complimentary Goonmandu (pan fried meat & vegetable dumplings) which was so good! My Kalbi Tang was superb!! I didn't have an oily consistency which I've had at other restaurants. The base broth was extremely tasty and the beef was very tender! My husband enjoyed his bean paste soup and commented that it was very good; he's never ordered this dish elsewhere. The Jap Chae was outstanding as it had distinct flavors and was not soggy nor watered down. The service was very timely. We were seated as soon as we arrived. Most tables were full with only 1table for large parties remaining. The servers/owners were very cordial and showed care for their customers. The food was exceptional and is now a close second to my long time fave Han Il Kwan. Muguboka seems to have more variety. I'm looking forward to returning soon.

Yelp
One of my favorite Korean places in the city! The staff have always been super friendly in this restaurant and the food is also super yummy. They have some yummy banchan options such as the candied lotus root and the fish cakes are so good. I ordered the kimchi chigae and my friend ordered the doenjang chigae. The portion sizes were pretty big as I couldn't finish my soup and took some to go. They did not skimp on the kimchi as there was definitely quite a lot of it in my soup. My friend also enjoyed his order. The owners also gave us complimentary potstickers on the house which was super nice of them! Overall, I recommend to check this place out if you haven't alread

Yelp
If you want great Korean BBQ then Miguboka is the place to be. The sign is prominently in Korean! Unfortunately they do not offer cooking at your table. They cook the food. But don't let that discourage you. You will love it.

Yelp
Although SF isn't known for their Korean food, we've been trying some more places out in the Richmond and Sunset to see if any could finally hit the spot. Muguboka is definitely a place we will come back to. My girlfriend kept saying how this place reminded her of the small Korean restaurants she would go to when she lived there and I can definitely get that vibe. The owner is super sweet and even gave us free dumplings. Delicious oyster pancake and spicy pork! I also appreciate any place that gives out barley tea as well.

Yelp
A couple of days ago, I searched for "duk mandu guk" and found this place. I called in for pick up and had it at home. I ordered Tteokbboki (extra spicy), soondubu chige, and duk mandu guk. I was extremely pleasantly surprised that the duk mandu guk tasted so good, it really tasted like the soup my mother used to make at home when I was a kid. My husband liked his soondubu chige a lot and I loved the spicy tteokbboki. All around 5 stars for the great taste. I'll step in to eat next time, I'm looking forward to the nostalgic feeling of eating genuine homecooked meals.

Yelp
If you're looking for a cozy korean restaurant this is the place to go to. The food is very authentic. My friends and I ordered the seafood pancake to share and it was crunchy on the outside which I like. They give lots of banchan which is appreciated. I ordered the galbi tang which had good flavor, not too salty and it was a good portion. We got dumplings on the house which was a nice gesture. Service was great, they kept checking in on us. In my opinion, this place is a bit pricey compared to other korean restaurants but the food is great.

Yelp
A quant family owned korean spot that hits the spot on a foggy night!! The short rib soup was so delicious and flavorful. Didn't need to add any salt or pepper to flavor it. We also got the spicy pork belly, which was good but didn't blow me away. The duk boki was also a nice side, and was more on the mild side. They give you free tea and lots of banchan with i loved! They even gave us free mandu which is soooo kind. Will definitely be back

Yelp
Stopped by on a weekend for lunch and it wasn't too busy. The highlight of the meal for me was the beef tartare. I really enjoyed the texture of the beef and how they cut it into strips mixed with the radish. Overall, really refreshing dish. They also gave us a complimentary kimchi seafood pancake that was pretty good. The seafood tofu soup was also a solid option.

Yelp
A mom & pop shop in the neighborhood that reminds me of my college life in Korea. You mainly see Korean ajumma & ajussi so you know it's authentic. We ordered a big spread and were happy with all the dishes. Their portions were huge as well. Service was quick with all the Asian lady. Parking might be the only minus point but it's worth to visit, even when you have to walk a bit.

Delicious!!! Such homey vibes :) came here for an early dinner around 5pm and ordered galbi tang and the BBQ chicken. Originally wanted to get sul lung tang but they ran out :( the owners were so sweet and gave us free mandu as well!! Both the galbi tang and Bbq chicken were DELICIOUS!! Would highly recommend for a nice casual meal
