The Best Chinese Dumplings in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"In contrast to most other destinations on this list, the dumpling options at this charming spot in Mile-Ex are few — but they are noteworthy. One option fills beet-stained dough with duck confit, while another features kabocha squash and wood ear mushrooms. The rest of the menu includes sophisticated plates of Asian-inflected fare." - Eater Staff

Former Orange Rouge Chef Minh Phat Is Opening a New Restaurant in Mile Ex | Eater Montreal

"Meaning “little sister” in Cantonese, I see Mui Mui as Phat’s homage to the spot that gave him his start: a one-and-a-half-year sublease pop-up in the former Jiep Jiep space that he’s positioning as a takeout-focused project. The menu is intentionally small — 12 items — and blends influences from his Chinese-Vietnamese-French background; highlights include a beef tataki salad carried over from Orange Rouge but refreshed with a charred pepper vinaigrette and parmesan crackers, and barbecue pork spare ribs glazed in a gochujang-soy sauce that remain unchanged because, as he says, “if the recipe works, why would I change it?” Much of the Orange Rouge team will be reprised here, and Phat is working with childhood friends-turned-partners (an engineer and two accountants) to open amid the pandemic — a risky move he expects to be proud of if it succeeds." - Valerie Silva

After the National Bank Open, my mom and I stopped by Mui Mui for an impromptu dinner. We opted for the tasting menu, which costs $65 and includes three-quarters of the menu in smaller portions. This allows you to sample a variety of dishes. My absolute favourite was the Beef Tataki salad, followed by the squash dumplings. The service was quick and friendly, making it a worthwhile experience!

I was quite excited to visit this restaurant because they had so many unique dishes in their menu that I have never seen in other restaurants. I definitely love the originality of their dishes but I feel like the prices are way too expensive. For around 25$ a plate, there are only a couple of pieces which is pretty disappointing. Taste wise, I feel like the food was pretty good but it was also nothing out of the ordinary that would justify the price in my opinion. The hardest part was probably sitting inside the restaurant without any AC. Even though I enjoyed the ambiance, the heat was ruining the dining experience on this hot summer day. However, the waiters were kind enough to serve us an icy refreshing drink on the house to make up for it which was nice. I feel like the service here was quite amazing. All the waiters were kind, patient and polite and they were all so friendly and served with a smile. They would also refill the water regularly and change our plates which made the dining experience so much more memorable.

This place serves Asian fusion small plates. I was intrigued by the menu but a lot of the dishes fell flat for us. Note that I’m pretty picky with Asian food. For the dishes being pricey for the portion, I expect every dish to be perfectly executed. We started with the beans and the albacore tuna with kimchi. The beans were good but nothing wow as it tasted like gomae (Japanese sesame spinach dish). The kimchi sauce served with the albacore tuna did not work at all together. The sourness coming from the kimchi did not complement the fish. We ended up dipping it in the sesame sauce that was served with the beans. The Vietnamese salad had good flavour but was too salty. Maybe if more vegetables were added it would have been more balanced. The duck confit and beet dumplings were however delicious! Only dish i would recommend! Pork ribs tasted like soy braised ribs and were a bit dry. No smokey flavour, nothing giving it an omph. Something I can make at home. A place I would try once but not come again. Would not recommend.

Unreal flavour sensation. We tried all kinds of plates. Just mix up the food into the sauces and enjoy! Our favourites were the cauliflower, dumplings and the ribs. Not a single disappointment on the menu. Bottle of wine was great too! Thank you from Winnipeg!

Google
good spot to share a bunch of unique dishes. we shared 6 between 4 ppl and it was enough but we could have had space for more. we esp liked the vietnamese beef salad, and i also quite liked the ribs and the calamari. + nice and cozy ambience. friendly and attentive service. it’s def on the pricier side tho considering the portions

Cozy and really original place. They have a variety of different asian dishes and they're all good ! We did not pick the tasting menu because we wanted to pick our own dishes. The Vietnamese beef salad and the salmon tartare were the highlight of the night. Great experience overall, you should give it a try !

Went here with 4 people, took the largest tasting menu, where we were able to taste 3/4 of the entire menu. The chefs decide which dishes are served and we were pleasantly surpised by the presentation and the tasty food (if there is a particular dish you don't want it is possible to request that with the waiter). The menu contains mostly vegetarian or pesquitarian dishes, asian fusion cuisine. Quite a few assortments of fish dish, and I hate fish, but the sauces paired with them really made the fishy taste hardly noticeable (in raw fish dishes, cooked fish was still fishy). The interesting part about this restaurant is the fact that they switch up their menu every few months with interesting new asian fusion dishes. So you never get bored. A must try, and my favorite dish; is the duck. Eaten peking duck style but with a lettuce wrap, this duck is seasonned quite well but not overpowering and compliments the meat perfectly. Least favorite dish is the mint and beets salad. I'm not a fan of the moutful of mint. Too bitter for me, but I guess it's an aquired taste :) Presentation of dishes is handled with care, service from staff is top notch, ambiance is very nice where you can drink and take your time to savour your meal. Aesthetically pleasing! Highly recommend for people who are down to have good food and splurge a bit on special occasions!
