Review of Muji store: In December 2024, I visited the Muji store and was impressed by the wide variety of merchandise it offered, primarily from Japan. The store’s interior was designed with a muted color palette, creating a calming and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. The men’s and women’s clothing sections were particularly noteworthy, with a generous selection of tastefully displayed items in muted colors. Additionally, the store offered a diverse range of products, including paper products, snacks, home goods, and even colorful Gel pens. One of the most exciting features of the store was the robot barista that made lattes. It was a unique and innovative addition that added to the overall shopping experience.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Muji store at Hudson Yards, and it was a fantastic experience. The minimalist design creates a calm, inviting atmosphere, and the store is impeccably organized. The store manager was warm and ensured everything ran seamlessly, creating a smooth shopping experience. Whether you’re shopping for their signature stationery, home essentials, or clothing, everything is easy to find. The staff were professional and attentive, and it’s clear that the store is well-managed. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and highly recommend it to anyone looking for quality products in a well-curated space.

I love this store but the management/loss prevention is abhorrent. I walked into this store to buy a pair of gloves and browse because I love everything here so much. On my way out I was stopped by the manager and security guard to search my bag although I had not stolen anything. I had a backpack on because I came in to visit a friend. They embarrassed me in front of everyone taking out my personal belongings looking for items that weren’t there! They also refused to apologize or explain why they were doing the search. Worst part of it all is that I somehow lost my gloves during the search and obviously didn’t feel comfortable going back so on top of being falsely accused I wasted $20. They should be ashamed of themselves. And any women of color shopping with backpacks beware! They will stop you, rifle through your things and accuse you of stealing with absolutely NO EVIDENCE. WEEKS LATER AND I HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE FROM MUJI MANAGEMENT. Customer service is atrocious.

I love Muji online, so seeing the store in Hudson Yards was such a treat! It is overwhelming and intimidating to see all of the cool stationary products I dream of online along with clothing and a wide and beautiful assortment of kitchen accessories! Fantastic!

Similar to other Muji locations, they offer variety of minimalistic lifestyle items from stationary, to apparel, to personal care, to furniture. Things here tend to be on the pricier end but they do have sales every now and then. This location has a robot cafe (Artly) and it's pretty cool.

I love this Muji store! The selection is pretty incredible and the coffee robot is really cool. I work by the Chelsea location and I think this location is better. Staff are really helpful and super shoutout to Austin for helping me find the perfect things to put in my apartment.

It was a decent Muji, except the staff seemed frustrated having to maintain the coffee robot. At least it was interesting to watch

I’m a big fan of MUJI! There pens and highlighters are top notch and I always like to grab a few while I am in the area! The store itself is always very organized and easy to navigate! I’ve never had to wait in line long, and I am always happily greeted! I just wish there hours opened a bit sooner some days!

Muji is overall a terrific stop for a lot of commonly used household goods. Let's start with the basics, this location is with the Shops at Hudson Yards and opened several years ago. This particular location is one of the larger Mujis in Manhattan, there are several areas within this site--walking in the displays start with stationary, gifts and trinkets, seasonal items, room fragrance vaporizers. Packaged pantry items start towards the middle of the store, mostly snacks, condiments/sauces and drink mixes, no actual fresh groceries. Followed by kitchen and dishware, and a robot coffee stand which is exactly what it sounds like--you can order coffee (not customizable and no non-dairy options) from a touch screen and it's made by a robot. Additional home goods, luggage, storage, furniture accessories and bedding round out this area and the rest of the store is men's, women's and some kids apparel, underwear and accessories. The products here are mostly neutral toned and utilitarian. I'm personally curious how well the apparel in particular sell since the styling reflects probably a more Japanese aesthetic than American. The prices are mid-range. I appreciate that for their clothing it looks like they try to use sustainable materials, some of its organic cotton and other synthetic materials they've denoted as recycled.

All I have to say is "Kaizin.". Every item in this store was made with logic, purpose, and the infinite pursuit for perfection. I purchased so many bathroom accessories that have just made my life better throughout the years.

Long time muJi fan for basic and staple knicks and knacks, MuJi is known for good quality and minimalist clean design. This shop delivered on everything and then some. One of the coolest parts is the robot making coffees and drink, impressive technology! Priced well for the quality, is your looking for a well organized shop you can enjoy while sipping on coffee this is the one. Their aromatherapy is slo very nice!

I recently visited Muji and was pleasantly surprised by the attentive and helpful staff. They were always available to assist and made sure my shopping experience was smooth and enjoyable. The store boasts a pretty large selection of items, from clothing basics to aesthetic home goods, all at very reasonable prices. I was particularly impressed by the affordability of their products, considering the quality and style they offer. However, I was a bit disappointed that they were missing the Miffy T-Shirt I was looking for. It would have been the cherry on top of my shopping spree. Despite this minor setback, the overall experience was delightful. The store's clean and minimalistic design added to the pleasant atmosphere, making it a great place to shop for both essentials and unique finds. Although I have been to other Muji stores before, this was the first time I encountered the barista robot. The Artly barista robot was super cute and had a decent selection of drinks it could make. New Artly customers can order on the app for a $1 drink! I ordered the strawberry yuzu refresher and I highly recommend. If you're in search of high-quality basics and charming home goods without breaking the bank, Muji is definitely worth a visit. Just keep in mind that they might not have every specific item in stock. Happy shopping!

Muji at Hudson Yards offers a wide assortment of items from clothing to office supplies and more. Their Ultrasonic Aroma Diffuser was on display along with several popular varieties of essential aroma oils. The French Lavender and Yuzu were especially pleasant and not overwhelming. I checked the prices - a little more than I'd hoped- especially if I were to purchase the entire system.

I was falsely accused of shoplifting from this store. They stopped me in front of other shoppers and demanded to go through my things. I explained I had a backpack because I was visiting a friend. Regardless they rifled through my personal belongings, embarrassing me in front of everyone. When they found nothing they refused to apologize. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who walked in with a backpack but I was the only one stopped on my way out. Even worse, somehow throughout the scene my newly purchased gloves went missing. So I spent $20 to get accused of shoplifting and walk out empty handed.

What can I say other than I get the reference to ikea, but then again, I don't. Clear similarities and even more differences. My daughter, the minimalist, says this is the place to be. She comes here all the time. Might be the whole concept went straight over my head. They definitely have you covered stationary wise. Must be some very high quality stuff for the cost. I'm told it's sought after, so there you go! We had a fun time browsing but not seriously purchasing much. Everything from shoes to suitcases and furniture. The store itself is a nice little adventure. Well kept and the folks are decent. I'm not sure we'd return but it's not them, it's us. I think it's one of those places everyone should see and decide for themselves. Give it a fair shake rather than rely on the mutterings of an old man. 01/24

I was unfamiliar with this retail establishment, which I discovered during a recent trip to NYC. It is a cross between IKEA and Uniqlo with both housewares and clothing. One of my favorite features was the robot making coffee. The clothing was quality, and the price points were great - the sale items (winter clearance) were even better. I am a nut for small housewares, and this place did not disappoint with dishes, cups, storage items, travel accessories, and many office/desk supplies. I loved the experience and left the store with two dresses, socks, a winter scarf, and a small crossbody storage pouch. I will order additional items online and check out their retail stores in larger cities. The floor staff only engaged with customers once, and in a place like NYC, maybe just letting people shop is a good thing.

I love this place!!!!!! My kids love it more! They have so much stuff! Reminds us of being in Japan! The kids love the snack area with different cookies and cakes and chocolates! I love looking at all the homeware and snacks. This place is always quite busy, but very organized! I love the coffee here! It's made by a robot!!!!! I'm ordered an americano and it was good! A little bland, but def not bad for a robot making it for me!!!! I was impressed! Stuff isn't too expensive! We will def be back when we are in the area!

Their styles are interesting but their quality control is terrible, each piece seams to fit differently. I attempted to return a shirt I purchased at the Chelsea location to The Hudson Yards location that had all tags attached and a receipt, I purchased a week ago because of fit. I was told that even though its the same company and I had all tags and receipts it could only be returned to the Chelsea location but that they wouldn't take it back because it was special even though it says nothing to that effect anywhere on signage, receipts etc. The employees and manager were rude, beware

I came to pick up an umbrella. Not just any umbrella but a nice tiny one that would fit in my handbags because we were expecting rain and I didn't want it to put a damper on my day !! Japanese think of these things!! And I'm not gonna let a little drizzle ruin my plans I'm this insanely magnificent city. I love this store.

One of the coolest stores I've seen in a while. Sort of a cross between Ikea and Create and Barrel with everything from stationary to clothing. As I walked around this store at Hudson Yards, I became more and more intrigued. Around every corner was a new experience and the store is big. At first I thought it was just a stationary store with some cool paper goods, then I spotted draw inserts ( can you ever have enough draw inserts?), then there was a large selection of wooden bowls and platters, beautiful diffusers with their private label aromatherapy and essential oils, that smelled delicious, and of course, I cant forget to mention, clothing! This store was fun one stop shipping. The sign read What is Muji? Muji was founded in Japan in 1980. It is based on three core principles, which remain unchanged to this day: 1. Quality materials 2. Less excess 3. Minimum packaging. Prices are excellent and I'm a new fan. My son can agree, since his NY Apt was the recipient of my purchases!

Muji has a huge beautiful store in the Shops at Hudson Yards. I was informed by the very nice sales associate that some items are pricey because they are imported from Japan. It's a very eclectic selection of merchandise. As far as the containers for storage, pens and some basic items I feel they can't compete with big box stores. There's a lot of special items I like for travel. I'd consider purchasing travel items if I go on a long trip. There's too many different types of unusual items for me to attempt to describe everything. It's definitely a Flagship Muji Store to me. I'm recommending you visit when you are in the Shops at Hudson Yards. I enjoyed browsing.

Bad customer service! Did not deem sale price as indicated on the sign. Cashier and manager were rude and simply say that they marked wrong . No sorry. Not honor the sale price. No business sense, loss me as a customer!

Came into this Muji store which is located inside Hudson Yards which is the shopping mall next to the Vessel. It is a pretty big muji store that has selection of clothes, furniture, snacks and also accessories for like school supplies. I like combing into this store to see what they have on clothes. I have bought a few styles and they also have different sizes to choose from. If your looking for some really cute loose fitting dresses I would stop in here and find them. They also have a lot of different snacks that I buy for later. Strawberry marshmallows are one of my favorites. I also enjoy the bean bags that they have. I haven't purchased one but I have sat on them and they feel super comfortable. If your moving into a new apartment I would say stop by here first to see what you can incorporate into your space. The style is quite simple but pretty modern as well.

This is the best MUJI location in NY. Their security doesn't breath down your neck and they let you shop in peace, which is more in line with the lifestyle that MUJI is trying to sell. This location also has a nice robot coffee maker! The other MUJI locations have incompetent staff that goofs around too much or power-tripping security if you look a certain way, lol. This location is the best, hands down.

I am a big fan of their pens, and went in hoping to find ink refills. But alas, they didn't have any...so I just bought new ones! (Checked on Muji's website: the ink refills are $1, new pens are $1.50) The staff here were super helpful, and when they couldn't find something (the ink refills) the guy helping me asked a couple more coworkers before giving me the definitive "no". I usually stay by the stationary station, but wandered off to the home section where I found ~house slippers~ for like, 10 bucks!! Super comfy, been wearing them everyday now since I bought them. Love their eco-friendly approach to limiting plastic bags waste with their 5c paper bags.

I'm definitely partial towards Muji. Everything about the store is so relaxing and calming. You enter and see all the humidifiers and if you're a like me, you rush over to smell the new types of scents they have. My favorite thing about the store is the office supplies section. You know how every procrastinator loves office supplies. I'm a fan of thin ink pens. So the ink flows out super thin. Just my preference. With most gel pens, the ink flows out too thick. This place has different varieties of the pens. There are so many small supplies that are just adorable and can easily fit into your bag without taking up too much space. They have a clothing section which ranges from scarves, gloves and even t shirts and then yu walk into the kitchen section. This place is easily a great distraction for everyone. There's something for everyone just walk around and try not to buy something.

First time at this location, found it a bit confusing finding items. But I do love these stores, they carry a great selection of small storage supplies for traveling. And my other favorite items are their office supplies, pens and pencils, and other cool appliances for getting the desk job done. I have these really cool travel scissors that fit closed like a pen, I can carry in my purse. They're small scissors not super strong, but boy they've come in handy so many times! They also carry clothes, and kitchen stuff too. But by far the travel stuff is the win/win for me!

If you are looking to pick up a few items quickly and you are around the area and you cannot find a Target, I would recommend Muji I suppose. I generally gravitate straight to the stationery section. I like the pens and pen holders. THAT'S IT. The lines can be long especially if you have a return and/or exchange. They have to wait for a fake keyholder to authorize the return or exchange. It would be nice if the employees can use some manners and not just say you have to wait. You work in Hudson Yards for christ sake! Also do not pay with apple pay. The manager Ellen here doesn't understand apple pay and won't give you a refund even if you have the receipt and the banking transaction at Muji. She also does this stupid "Have a good day" line 6 times. Yes, you have a good day too for being so useless.

I go here often. They offer everything from candy and stationary to clothing and housewares at reasonable prices.

I absolutely love this place, so pretty and so well put together. Very quiet and peaceful just right for shopping, everyone is in their little world . 10/10 would most definitely recommend.

It's a nice Muji but because of the hype of hudson yards, it is very crowded. The free sample giveaway food is great and I think it's different everyday. But because of the crowd, the items that are on sale were gone pretty quickly so I couldnt get the cotton pad I wanted. I would suggest them having enough stocks for the sales items if they knew they're going to be out of stock very fast!

Spacious store that's well maintained and filled with staff ready to help. This is probably the most friendly MUJI I've been to. After entering the store for five minutes I was greeted no less than ten times. The weekend I was there, MUJI has several 30-50% sales and that was a great, unexpected surprise! Tip if you're going to visit, take the M34 SBS bus instead of the 7 train and you'll save yourself and your feet a few hundred steps!

I finally got to visit this store and of course, it would be in New York! It was beyond wonderful and calming to look in. Everything in this store is simple but quality.

Like other Muji's, this one was well organized and clean. Their snack selection is rather limited though. They do have an embroidery station and a coffee station as well which is pretty cool. Love the variety of stamps they have there that you could use to stamp your notebooks with. Staff is helpful and friendly.

I like muji, but the employees here look very unhappy and miserable:( Some of them treat customers poorly too.

Like most MUJI locations, this store was also really tidy and neat. It wasn't very crowded when I went (which was around 8pm). But the main reason why I wanted to write this review was because of the thoughtful cashier that worked there that night. I'm guessing he noticed the brace I was wearing on my right hand and decided to fold my receipt. This made it more convenient for me to place into my small wallet. I thought this was really polite of him to do so! Even if it was protocol, it was a small act that left a lasting impression on me. Thank you (according to my receipt his name is) Kenichi2!

I love MUJI. OCD heaven here! It has everything I need, from home goods to stationary, to clothes and your travel needs. I find myself always stopping by this store whenever I'm at the mall because not only is it super inviting, they always have something I feel like I want to buy, or didn't know I needed. A lot of my things are from the MUJI store, and I am very happy with all of my purchases. This location especially is very big, and you can find yourself spending about 30 minutes in here. The staff here is very friendly and helpful.

MUJI recently opened up a location at 20 Hudson Yards and I've only been to one other one in NYC. This one is a pretty decent sized store ranging from clothes to household items. The crowd on the weekends is pretty packed, but during the week it's pretty easy to get in there and browse around for whatever items you're looking for. Another great addition, considering a lot of the stores in HY are fairly high end brands. Luckily there's some affordable stores in the building

I love MUJI! They have such great stationary that is minimalistic and modern. Their pens are some of my fav cause they come in a variety of colors and sizes for the ball tip. I really enjoy that when you walk in there are diffusers with fresh aromas filling the space. Ive never tried or purchased their clothing but it seems to be good quality and price. This is a pretty decent sized store for it being in the mall. Not as big as the one I think on fifth but they will have most of what you're looking for without the crazy crowd.

This was the largest MUJI I've ever seen. It is located inside Hudson Yards mall area. I bought mini strawberry pies here for $3.99. They were really delicious and cute. They were individually wrapped. I also got a $5 long shoe horn here. Their houseware items are pretty expensive. They had chopsticks for $8 per pair. You can get 10% off if you present a student ID card. They have an area where you can get a custom stitched book bag. They have both mens and womens clothes. The clothes are pretty basic and are limited to muted, neutral colors like grey, white, black, khaki and blue. The fit of the clothes are Japanese-style. This space is very organized and clean. They have an area with bean bag chairs where yuo can lounge. They even have a cafe inside where you can order drinks to drink in the store. They are also known for their pen selection. They have a good selection of luggages and travelware. They have some items on sale for clearance but their sale section is pretty small.

I came here when they are having Memorial Weekend sales and there's a lot of promotion going on. For clearance item, they have extra 50% off for most women & men clothing. If you purchase more than 2 clearance items, you get extra 30% off all your clearance purchases. As for facial products, you get extra 30% off for 2 or more items. The staffs who work there are very friendly and helpful. The store is a bit crowded on weekend and there's some seat available in the store.

Great selection and all the essentials are there for a good price. Love how everything is simple and organized. Staff has been helpful and kind every time I shop there.

This Was the worst retail experience i have ever had in a store. My husband purchased The diffuser that plugs into The computer for me. It Doesn't work. We Returned the next day to Enganche for Sheets and basket. Well over what he originally Spent On the Gift And They refused the exchange even tho he purchased it A Day before and we had Receipt JanetK and Ellen Yu were inflexible and hangry and un helpful even tho we write There with our 2 Children. We will never shop Muji again so unhappy with their customer Service

Muji is one of our favorite stores. They have inexpensive stationary, kitchen, and bedroom items, clothes, and suitcases. The items are simple, neutral colors, ands respectable quality.

It's as if IKEA and UNIQLO had a baby and made MUJI! This place is great and has so many practically products for home, beauty, and food. The store has items for your whole home, clothing, and skincare. If you are looking for a store to find things you never knew you needed but now seem that you can't live without you came to the right place. It's a great place to take your time and walk around to gain an appreciation for all of their products.

Decent service, large store with various items. Clothing, daily supplies, furnitures, slippers, stationary, snacks, etc. Reasonable prices and clean and organized. Walking distance from 7 train.

Been to the store in Tokyo and really liked this store a lot, but in NYC, I'm afraid to say, the sales people are useless. We got a sweater and a rain jacket which were a good price, but get this, when asking to try on, I asked the sales rep who was behind the counter where the changing rooms were, he barked at me and pointed to the left of the register. No smile, no service, no nothing, just an unnecessary attitude. Yuck. They have two entrances to the fitting rooms, but the one near the men's area is roped off giving one the idea that it was closed, that's why I asked. It was a bit confusing at first, but the sales rep was rude and uncaring and could have been more welcoming. Trust me, this wouldn't happen in Japan. Then when we were looking at a sweater, one of our items fell to the ground (a pair of socks), we both had our hands full and the same rep walked by, noticed the socks and barked again, "is that yours?" We said yes, and instead of assisting us, he just walked on by, no help, no service, no nothing. Definitely an unhappy person. Finally at the register, the woman behind the counter was doing something with her cash register when we approached, and instead of politely saying anything, she shoved her hand in our faces as if to say, "I'm too busy for you right now" but without the words, just the palm of her hand. It must be hard to find good sales people in NYC. We would have loved this store but for the workers. Never returning, there are other locations that will do for me.

My experience at the end of my visit to their store was so upsetting to me that I felt the need to publically air this issue. I love their products and their store, and most of the employees were completely helpful and kind, with the exception of the two male employees working on Sunday April 7th that were incredibly rude. My mom and myself were trying to hurrry and finalize the items we were purchasing because we realized they were closing. It was exactly on the dot of when they were closing that a man at the door jumped at me and told me they were closing in an extremely condescending way. I always try to be kind of retail workers because I've worked retail so I just smiled and asked if I could still check out. Then my mom went to quickly try on an item, again within the minute they were closing, and the other male employee ran towards her screaming "Miss! MISS! The fitting room is closed" while jumping in front of the dressing room to physically block her, which by then, she had long stopped trying to enter. The way he said it was one of the rudest interactions I've ever had in a retail enviormwnt, both working and as a customer. I think if I would have ever talked to a paying customer like that I would have been (rightly) fired. I'm very frustrated and it very much upset me to see my mom treated like that. It was absolutely unacceptable. The product was great, and every female employee we interacted with was great, but I'm pretty livid about the way we were treated. I didn't stop and get angry at him then because it just would have been an ugly confrontation I wouldn't want to be in, and it would have embarrassed him in front of his coworkers, although he deserved to be embarrassed for being that rude to my sweet mom, who ended up purchasing over $300 worth of items. I hope this review, and I've never written a review before, can lead to postive growth in the way that this store handles customers.
