Mulan Asian Bistro - Young Ave

We arrived at 8 pm for a late dinner. The food was delicious! We had fish hot pot (spicy), egg foo young with beef, and steam rice. She had a couple of different mocktails. I had the sweet sake flight. If you like sweet...it's nice. It starts subtle with the peach to very sweet by the time you get to the lychee. Our server was great! She aim to please.

The service was great. Food, on the other hand, not that great spring rolls are meh, and the peanut sauce was horrible it tasted so bad Orange chicken was decent, maybe 5 out of 10, the sauce tasted old. The steamed rice was not fresh it was definitely just sitting there for some time. The fried rice was bad. We got the one with spinach in it. It's definitely missing a whole bunch of seasoning. We didn't even finish our food. We just lost our appetite. Maybe we chose the wrong items but I've definitely had wayyy better Asian food.

I called them and placed my order for dinner and then picked up. The place looks a bit shiny, upscale, and hip. I’m sure dine in experience would have been much better. The food was a bit expensive in comparison to other Chinese restaurants, however, the food is really good. Be it the quality, freshness, good ingredients, preparation, portion size everything is top. We ordered house special chowmein and a spicy fried chicken. Both the dishes were terrific. I would highly recommend the place and I myself will definitely go back. Update: I ordered again, and this time also the food was great. Major update: after ordering food from this place quite a few times through Uber eats, this time I went on-site in the restaurant for dine in experience. The food was food, so the ambience. Quantity wise, it’s humongous, more than you would get if the food is getting delivered.

The service was great. The food is horrible though, either lack in flavor or have a taste of being old. We order the vietnamese spring roll - it was a failure. The peanut sauce served with it was not the normal peanut sauce. It barely have any noodles, 1 shrimp that was split in half, and a ton of iceberg lettuce. The teriyaki chicken skewer was not bad, but definitely not tasting the teriyaki. The orange chicken had decent flavor but had an old taste to it. The young chow fried rice was definitely missing in flavor. My one year old loves fried rice and she took 3 bites and said no.

Although it too me a minute to find parking it was a holiday .. understandable.The hostess was very friendly. I Summited a call in order on memorial Day the lady was very pleasant patient and generally gave excellent customer service on the phone and with everyone in person pleasant demeanor the entire time. Everything thing about the food was hot even upon arriving home 9 minutes later First visit there

This place is absolutely AMAZING. Jacob has been my server every time I’ve ever been and he is just wonderful beyond words!!!! He is always effortlessly efficient and always takes care of us in a timely manner even when the place is super busy. Last night I got the hot sake, jalapeño basil, wings and my partner got the pad Thai chicken and a ginger salad! All just so so so delicious!!!! Venue is beyond amazing for atmosphere and vibes. Sake is always hot and perfect!!!! I’ve gotten so many things off the menu and all are just as great as the next!!!! I just moved here but I’ve been visiting on and off sense last summer and Jacob has always been so welcoming and made me feel at home! If you’re looking for wonderful food vibes and atmosphere this is the place for you!!!!

I went to Mulan's last evening to check out their menu. For Friday evening, it was not particularly crowded. That's not a bad thing. The menu was pretty extensive. So I stayed close to base with the shrimp basics. The food arrived super quick hot, and delicious.

I ordered through Ubereats today and let me just tell you it was STEAMING hot and flavorful!!!!! 10/10 recommend

I had an amazing time here at Mulan Asian. The food is just a tad bit pricey, but all worth it. The service is also very efficient and very polite. The ambiance is very calm and pleasant. 5 stars.

Although I can't speak to their dine-in service since I ordered via DoorDash, I'm giving them two stars for their prompt delivery and the fact that the food arrived hot. I sampled a variety of dishes: shrimp fried rolls, stir-fried noodles, and a chef's special roll. I found the prices to be quite steep, especially for a DoorDash order, even after browsing their online menu. Unfortunately, the beef in my noodles was excessively slimy--likely due to either an overuse of cornstarch or the meat having been left out for too long. The noodles themselves were undercooked, which was disappointing. As for the shrimp, it had an unappealing rubbery texture, suggesting it may have been overcooked or possibly pre-cooked shrimp that was quickly fried again for efficiency, a common practice in many restaurants. The most disappointing aspect was the seafood. The only redeeming part was the soft-shell crab. The crawfish and spicy tuna were inedibly mushy and had a strong, unpleasant fishy odor. I understand that seafood can have a distinct smell, but this was far beyond the norm.

Love this place!!! Food is amazing! The employees are welcoming and friendly! They have a little fish pond and fish tank to look at in the dining room! Parking can be a little congested. Some food on the menu is a little pricey. A+++++ We will go again for sure!

We really enjoyed our dinner here. The spring rolls were excellent. I had sushi. My wife had lo mein. Everything was fantastic!

The ambiance was nice and food the was hot, fresh and extremely delicious. The service swift and professional. The staff was friendly and I was extremely pleased with everything. I'll be making a return visit to this restaurant. Their food has a variety of foods to try and choose from. I like the how fresh and bright in color the vegetables are. It just makes the presentation beautiful.

Food was amazing! Our server, Kaylyn, tried to scam us. The restaurant adds an automatic 20% to every single check and she wouldn't bring the itemized bill. Instead brought the credit card receipt suggesting a tip even though we already were charged the 20%. By the way, we always tip more being servers and bartenders so that's a hit a miss being in the industry. When we tried to get the itemized, she disappeared. We asked another employee and she printed it showing there was already a tip added. Looks bad on the restaurant when your employees try to scam customers to see if they can get away with it.

My main food here is Hunan spicy beef It taste like chili con Carne with a little bit too much garlic, which I like. I make tacos. I love it. It's a little expensive I buy when I first get paid. A flour tortilla on the fire for a couple seconds put that spicy beef in there that's the best taco

Okay so hear me out before you judge..... My colleague and I ordered from this establishment today for lunch... I actually ordered side lo mein with chicken (I did not take a photo, my bad!) My colleague ordered the pork intestines with scallions- she never told me what it was but asked me to try some... (personally, I thought it was imitation lobster or a seafood) so I gave it a try and found it to be chewy but tasty (again, I never knew this was pork intestine, is this the same thing as chitterlings, but Thai? Correct me if I'm wrong because I've never had chitterlings) I can't say whether or not I will try Thai pork intestines again in life but she (Asian descent) loves their pork intestines meals (I just learned they have several dishes!) The side noodles with chicken were plentiful.....however, the lo mein didn't need the chicken (which was an up charge). I would definitely try them again with other menu items... since she is a lover of pig intestines, I will post her meals for those who like Thai flavored pork intestines.... I do plan to try their sushi so stay tuned for that review.....

My wife ordered two beef Pad Thai, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and chicken fried rice for over $80. The food was the worse I have ever eaten in my life. I spent over 21 years in the military traveling the country and the world and I wouldn't recommend this restaurant or food to anyone else.

This Asian cuisine eatery is open late and accommodated a family of 5. It's a big restaurant and there parking in the back or on the street. The menu is expansive and we all ordered different things to eat and share. I ordered the drunken noodles with beef and it was spicy AF, which is great because we wanted a good kick and I underestimated it lol Only major surprise is that our dinner bill had a service fee of 20% tagged to it and it was separate from the tip. I asked about it but it sounds like it's a common thing that the restaurants in that area are doing :( We had lots of food for leftovers because the portions here are huge and it turned out tasty to eat the next day. I just wish we didn't have to cover a 20% service fee as it is noted in other reviews too.

delicious food, i got so full i couldn't finish it all! we ordered some cream cheese wontons and they were the best i've ever had and i'm not normally a wonton person! the pancake just tasted like a flat and flakey croissant, it's a nice texture. everything else was pretty good! service was great and attentive our waiter gave great sushi recommendations. and the ambiance with the plants, decor and music made it so casually cozy. i ordered the house lo mein which had chicken shrimp and beef. the beef and chicken were both chewy so i'll probably just get the shrimp next time

We are somewhat regulars there and tonight was amazing! They were so busy and still everyone was so polite and and we got everything we needed! Jacob the bartender was the sweetest even having to serve us and all his tables! Food was piping hot and so good!

This place was great! The Chinese food is authentic. Trust me. I am sad that we don't have something like this in Nashville anymore. I love spiciness and my dishes were spicy and yummy! I wish I can go there every weekend. They have a whole page devoted to authentic Chinese dishes and the back side is what you normally see at a Chinese restaurant. They also have some thai dishes too that are great. Do recommend and do go!

Sesame chicken the absolute best thing on the menu.The white rice is amazing with the sauce from the sesame chicken

The food was subpar. For the price I really expected better flavor. We took our order to go so I cannot say much for the service of ambiance, but they were timely on getting it prepared. I would try another of the many establishments first.

We live very near by and decided to go for cocktails and then soup. We had such a nice time! Food was good, ambiance was "so" midtown! Loved being there! Rex was so fun and a good server.

I hate that I have to write this because I eat at Mulan regularly, but this is not okay. I ordered my usual to go on Ubereats just now, and while eating, I saw something weird floating in my food and fished it out. I'm disgusted.

Mulan has everything you can think of in terms of Asian food, ranging from authentic Szechuan to Thai. Service: Our server was so nice, he happily gave me his recommendations for sushi. Our food came out promptly. Food: Everything here is so delicious. However, some things are made differently than expected. For example, I don't expect orange chicken to be spicy but Mulan makes theirs spicy, this could be the difference between American Chinese food and Chinese food. They have the BEST wonton soup in memphis!!! You can smell the richness and depth of the broth as soon as they set your bowl down on the table. They also have very traditional dishes that I didn't expect but was ecstatic to see, dishes that my mom would make for our family. You should definitely give Mulan a try if you want authentic Chinese dishes.

My food delivery just arrived, and boy are we disappointed .,spring rolls have no flavor, slightly burnt taste and texture,and steamed dumplings are rubbery and without taste. Haven't been to Mulan in several years, but this was a horrible disappointment . The food was always tasty and delicious . This order delivery was terrible . What has happened to this restaurant ??

The food was good and decently priced, but the menus and tables were extremely sticky, which made the whole place overall feel dirty.

Great ambiance! Really cute interior. Our waiter was prompt and amazing and food was pretty good! I would skip the appetizers, we had the fried shrimp and the vegetable spring rolls. Both tasted like they come frozen, and no better than what you can buy off the shelf at a grocery store. The entre portion sizes are HUGE and worth the price. Great flavor, I would come back!

On 12/6/24 my wife and I placed an order using UBEREATS with the option to pick up and takeout. We frequent this establishment quite often we are familiar with the quality of the food.Upon arriving home we noticed something different about the food. The General Tso's Chicken did not look fresh and tasted terrible and the fried rice seem to be missing something. The amount of money spent on this order, the food should have been better!!! Why should UBEREATS rectify the situation when they did not cook the food, I will not be eating here again because they refuse to replace the food. You have just lost a loyal customer.

People. Don't let these reviews fool you. The food here is gas. Premium 97 grade you feel me. I encourage you to order out of your comfort zone. It will yield considerable positive returns. Szechuan menu is my personal recommendation. You can get Chinese take out anywhere. Where this place shines is their Szechuan flavors. Now we're not in China those ingredients are hard to get. That being said they make the best with what they got and churn out some stellar dishes that are worth every dollar. You get some of that 味道. Some items to consider: Bandit style. I got the chicken. Northern style eggplant. Chili fish in oil. Kung pao chicken. Green beans in black bean sauce. Cumin lamb These are my go to items but I still keep finding new ones on the Szechuan menu. I will note the portions on the Szechuan menu are sizable so I would consider making some friends if you don't already have some. 4 people and you can try a variety. That's the magic # I think but whatever leftovers are dope too.

I don't have much from this space, but overall, I love the atmosphere here. I ordered two rooms and they were absolutely amazing. I've had a rough week, and all I wanted was a moment where the world wasn't so rude to me for no reason. I came in here and felt like I belonged here. The staff were really nice to me. I GOT FREE WATER FROM THE NICE CUTE GUY WITH THE PONYTAIL!!!. And I will always stand ten toes down when I see the food here is amazing. Cooked fresh, made to order, and the cocktails here are to have on a day off or tjusy a break from the office. 11/10 would come again cause on its slow days it's nice and comforting.

It's very hard to find a restaurant open on Sunday so we were thrilled to find Mulan Asian Bistro was open for business. Loved the green beans. Service was so so, we did not feel welcome. Hard to get drinks refilled, or order another beer. Good sized portions.

They customer service , environment, and food was bomb. We didn't have to wait long to order , or to receive our food. Wish we could have gotten alcohol beverages but the bar was closed due to no bar tender .

I walked in 20 minutes before closing and asked if I could order takeout and was told I could, I asked for combination lo mein and asked for the meat and vegetables to be finely chopped because I have a lap band and having it that way helps with digesting my food. Upon receiving it, the vegetables and meat were finally chopped as asked, took a couple of bites out of it, and the noodles were mushy to me. I attempted calling back however the store was closed as the manager had locked the door behind me and another Pate room as we were leaving. I called this afternoon to explain what happened and ask them. Could I come in and exchange it because I did not eat the food and I kept the food for a combination. Fried rice was told. Yes, got off work. This evening came in spoke to manager. The manager was very rude. Was very hesitant about doing it and at one point I said well it seems as if you don't want to do it and he said "I don't" so then I said, how do you plan to make this right? He then said you're coming in here a day later and asking for a refund I said no sir I'm not asking for a refund I'm asking for you to make it right but instead of doing it with The noodles, I'd rather do it with the rice. He seemed again very bothered stormed off and customer service was just completely rude. This was my second time coming into the store and definitely will be my last.

Very disappointed with my order from Mulan. I ordered Roasted Duck and it was very dry and overcooked. The vegetable Lo Mein was undercooked. Unfortunately there was no flavor in any of the food ordered.

Ryder our waiter was amazing and so sweet. went above and beyond for us. we really loved everything except the violet sake, we wanted to love it but it tasted like cough medicine the miso soup was just so so, great tofu options tho for us vegans.

Food is great majority of the servers are cool. My only complaint is the $7.00 service fee for a to order, simply ridiculous.

Very delicious food and very good service plus great value imho. A wide variety of choice too from an extensive menu. Sometimes I'll have sushi, other times a delicious stir-fry of spicy fusion... this place really has it all, in addition to great ambiance where you can actually hold a conversation at your table. Highly recommend!

Doordashed Mulan's for dinner last night. My boyfriend said his dish was good, and my sides were good (I got the family combo). My main dish, however, was not. I was craving sweet and sour chicken, but I received slimy, fake looking chicken with bright pink sauce. I was expecting the breaded chicken pieces that I could dip in sweet and sour sauce. This may have just been an issue with me not understanding what I was ordering, but even so, what I received was unappetizing and gross. Luckily I had the large soup and large fried rice that came with my meal to eat instead. I'm not swearing off Mulan's but this dish was pretty disappointing.

Stumbled upon this amazing bistro on historic corner & the food is soooo good!! Our Server Abraham was on point & very nice!! If you are anywhere near here, have a meal....cannot go wrong! Walnut Shrimp was especially yummy!

This place is either wildly unreliable or has really gone down since I last ordered takeout a couple of years ago. The kung pao tofu was so overwhelming with ginger that it was almost inedible. I also don't care for silken tofu in main dishes but I could have lived with that if the flavor had been decent. The veggie spring rolls were good, and still hot and crisp, which is why I gave two stars. Their prices are outrageous - they charged almost $4 to sub brown rice for white. Then I received a notice that they had added an additional $2+ for my "special" request. So $6 for brown rice. The prices are way too high to take a chance on getting such subpar food again. I won't be ordering g from them again.

I ordered through a delivery service. All my items are correct to order. The food is good but not great. I haven't found an Asian food spot out here I really like but this one is decent and worth what I paid for it. The sushi is so so, I've had better. I got the volcano roll and the orange chicken.

Love the hot pot, padthai, drunken noodles, and jalapeño fried rice. The midtown location is definitely better than the collierville one.

no one else in restaurant except for a few at the bar. Taken to a booth where the fake leather was tearing off. waitress came 15 minutes later and took water order. Food arrived pad Thai was not actually traditional other than rice noodles that some were hard from not being cooked. Lo mein, swimming and soy sauce to the point where it tasted like I was licking a salt block. Another customer from the bar talking very loudly dropping the F bomb several times to restaurant staff in conversation. They did not seem to see anything wrong with it but it got to the point that I had to go to the bar and ask the waitress to ask him to stop or we would be leaving. this experience only cost me $55. That was the second time that we had been to Mulan and needless to say it will be the last. I cannot understand how this restaurant continues to be open.

Had a day out wit my kids, so a little bit of everything.My oldest lives in midtown and I think I enjoy it as much as she does. Its alot of good eateries in that part of town. More hip n experimental kinda environment for me. I have a sensitive stomach so I didnt mix it up and try everything. I had the fried wings with fresh jalapenos and fried rice n sushi roll. Of course the mimosa was mine. Service was friendly fast n exactly as ordered. I will return. My son half reads the description of food and yeah he was kinda sitting on the fence about his selection.

This place is pretty cool. I've never been to this location before but everything tasted ok. I got the Lemon Grass chicken (I'm obsessed) but it was just ok here. I forgot to ask for it spicy so I got some extra sauce to help but it just didn't have a lot of flavor. I feel like I've had good food at Mulan in general so I don't mind going to this branch. It's just too far away for me to really end up back here.

First off our waiter was attentive, but once we put in our order, he was MIA. Never once were our drinks refilled. I had the lunch special - two rolls. They were small and the avocado / cucumber roll was more of a guacamole role. I understand the 20% tip fee, but come on, insure the food is good. I will give them one more time. I always get the fried rice delivered to my home in midtown. It's delivered usually within an hour of ordering, and by friendly delivery people. Good stuff

This is officially my favorite Chinese food place in this area. I was impressed with the very attentive, and courteous staff. There are many tasty food selections, and the place itself is well maintained and has pleasant atmosphere.
