Yelp
We spent a couple of nights in Indio for spring break. After a long day of fun in the sun our group of 8 was in the mood for some good Chinese food. We found New Mulan here on Yelp and headed over. It's very Mom and Pop minimalist interior may scare off some, but we knew it meant the food would be yummy. Some dishes hit the spot, some missed the mark but overall our tummies were full and we left satisfied for the amount of the bill.
Specific dish reviews:
-Appetizer fried dumplings: a little bland and not pan fried like authentic dumplings.
-Chicken lo mein: good flavor, not too greasy, nice chunks of chicken.
-Beef and Broccoli: generous helping, beef was tender. A little too salty.
-Orange Chicken: very sweet, definitely more "red/pink" than "orange". Kids enjoyed.
-Garlic String Beans: Light garlic flavor, slightly more cooked than al dente, mixed with onions.
-Sweet and sour pork: ordered but never came so can't review .
-Pot of hot tea, nice and hot.
Had we not had the kids with us we would have tried more ambitious dishes. Half our party are Chinese-American and know authentic cuisine- they said it wasn't too bad!
Wish I had taken some pics but we were too busy chowing down!
