Downtown Has a Fiery New Spanish Restaurant, and Other Openings to Know | Eater Montreal

"I popped into Mulan Dumpling on the east end of Mont-Royal at Chambord, a new purveyor of meat-filled dough pockets with a possibly Disney-inspired name." - Tim Forster

Mulan Dumpling is a hidden gem that more people need to try! The service was amazing — super friendly and welcoming staff that made us feel so comfortable. We ordered the chicken dumplings and vegetable spring rolls, and both were absolutely delicious. The dumplings were authentic, packed with flavor, and served hot and fresh. The spring rolls were crispy and tasty too! It wasn’t too busy when we went, but it definitely deserves more love. The decor is nice and cozy, making it a great spot for a casual, flavorful meal. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Google
A very happy dining experience. There are many varieties of dumplings to choose from. Our whole family has found our favorite flavor. This is our favorite dumpling restaurant in Montreal. The service is warm and fast, highly recommended!

I went with my baby and a friend for lunch, the prices are fair and the food was very good. The service is great and they have high chairs for babies. The music is not loud so you can have a conversation and they also have a ramp with a small step in the entrance that is big enough for the stroller to come in! I highly recommend it.

Google
Such delicious food!! Highly recommend. We were walking by and saw this spot and decided to check them out. The lady there was very friendly and the place is quite big and clean. We tried their cucumber salad, noodles, and dumplings and honestly all of them were incredible. Everything was fresh. We really enjoyed it, and so I recommend checking out this spot.

Wow! Such amazing food. My bf and I were exploring downtown and wanted to try something new. We stumbled upon this place and I'm so glad we did. It will probably be our new date spot. The food is delicious and all hand made (you can tell), the service was good, and the atmosphere is lovely! Highly recommend! (We didn't try the dumblings but everything looked amazing)

Google
The service was amazing!! The food arrived super quickly and was delicious. Also very cheap prices but amazing food. The decor was super cute and it’s a very clean place too! Overall amazing, definitely coming back.

Google
Such a hidden gem. Delicious food and super humble service. There was just one girl serving and she was the sweetest. Food didn’t take that long and everything was fresh. We order the mushroom and tofu fried dumplings, handmade noodles veggie and steamed pork dumplings (for my boyfriend and friends).

Google
Great service and prices. The chicken curry fried dumplings were delicious as well as the lamb ones, and so was the banana desert. I would definitely recommend it for a date too, the atmosphere was great for that.

Yelp
Good texture on the skin on the dumplings. On the thinner side which I prefer. Many filling options. My lo mein was average. Prices slighlty elevated for such comfort food. It is a great option if you live in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Great service. Great food for a decent price. Decent portions too. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area. Family owned (I think) too which is nice

Yelp
Favourite place in the Mont Royal vicinity for dumplings!! They have an elaborate menu for dumplings. Taste is extremely authentic!! We usually order the same Steamed Beef Coriander & Chicken dumplings!! The sauces make the experience even better! The servers are all super helpful, friendly and patient!! Prices are very low for the quality and taste of the dumplings!! We are regulars and eat here very often!

Yelp
One of the best fried lamb skewers in town, generous amount of meat. Double the price though compared to other place that sells the lamb skewers.

Yelp
The dumplings here are good, and probably the best thing they offer. Owners are really nice and attentive. Noodles are home made but extraordinarily greasy, there was a large pool of grease under my noodles, hands, everything when I was done, which isn't a particularly pleasant experience. The taste was also 'fine' but not special. And generally everything is just more 'fine' than good, and for the area it is in you are paying full price too, but then it doesn't feel worth it at the end of the day.

Yelp
Tried this dumpling place recently. Price is fair for the amount of dumplings you get but the taste isn't all that amazing. The sauce was missing ginger and they didn't have the soup dumplings. I had the shrimp, pork, and chive dumplings and my husband had the beef and coriander dumplings. Cute place and awesome location but the food could be way better! Also service was pretty slow which was surprising since our order wasn't very complicated and the place was almost empty.

Yelp
We ordered food from here on a recommendation from a friend. They offer plenty of vegetarian choices. The noodles were really good, albeit oily. The fried tofu in this dish was actually the best fried tofu I've ever had. We also had an order of fried dumplings and an order of steamed dumplings to cover our bases. I wish there had been more complexity to the flavors, but that doesn't mean that they weren't tasty. The dipping sauce could have been a bit spicier. I think what was missing for me in general were the flavors of ginger and spring onion. The seaweed salad was great and different from how I make it at home. I am by no means upset that we went here, it was very good, but we are only in Montreal for three days and I feel that there are phenomenal options that we missed out on by opting for this restaurant.

Yelp
This is a cute little spot for dumplings on mont royal. the location is large and clean and the staff is friendly. Lots of seating inside (no outdoor seating though). They accept credit debit and cash. The prices are fair as well for the amount of food and quality you are getting. We ordered the pork buns , fried shrimp&pork dumplings and the lamb &coriander dumplings steamed. The pork buns were ok , not much pork inside the filling was mostly an overly sweet sauce and the dough didn't have the right texture way too bread-like (I love pork buns but I didn't really enjoy this). The shrimp&pork fried dumplings were to die for , so juicy fresh and full of flavour (a must order on their menu), the lamb and coriander was pretty good as well just lacked a touch of flavour. They had a lot of choice of dumplings and appetizers. A really good place to curb your dumpling cravings !

Yelp
If could have put 0 I would have. I went to this restaurant with a friend and we waited for 5 minutes standing for someone to serve us and nobody even looked at us or offered to place us even though the place was empty. Nobody told us to choose from any place. Literally the worst welcome I have ever experienced in a restaurant. I will give it another chance but for now I'm disgusted by my experience.

Yelp
Favourite dumpling restaurant in Montreal. Super fresh, savoury food, and awesome service. 2 awesome vegan dumpling items on the menu. Definitely recommend this restaurant :)

Yelp
Four stars because the food is good and prices very fair. I want them to succeed! Definitely worth a try...A little hidden gem. Yum.

Yelp
Service was not good. We walked out because we were not served. We saw 3 pairs of people coming in after us and they were seated and served before we even put in our order. I did notice that there were only 2 servers and they seemed to be lost.

Yelp
Went here for the first time yesterday - delicious dumplings! We had the pork and chive dumplings, fried. We also had the homemade vegetable noodles, also delicious! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Flavourful! It's not the best dumplings in the city but very decent for the neighborhood. The Plateau area could benefit from more multicultural restaurants. I will definitely go back for more lamb coriander.
