Nice temple if you are looking for a place that is not mainstream. It has five main caves that have been turned into image houses, and you can see very nice representations of gods and devils. It has three main levels. The first level has two caves, and the intermediate level has three caves. Between them, there is a devala dedicated to the god Vishnu. When you go all the way to the top, you can see a stupa, a statue, and a platform to see the surrounding area.

Beautiful place, gorgeous cave art and very friendly staff. Please be aware however that when walking into the gates after parking outside people will try and be your tour guide, which you categorically do not need as this temple is not massive or complicated to manoeuvre, and then try and charge you upwards of 5,000 rupees, thankfully saw reviews of this before we went so I knew the politely decline but others around us did fall victim. I would advise going on a day or time of the day when it is not as hot as the stairs can prove lethal in 32 degree heat, but the view was worth it! We went on a hot day around midday, and because of this there was not a single person there, we had the entire temple/ hill to ourselves, it was just the ticket officer and one group who had left as we entered. Tickets were 500 rupees per person!

Nestled into the mountains, this serene cave temple complex takes your breath away. Its beautiful 18th-century Kandyan murals are steeped in a spiritual aura that feels truly timeless. I was glad to pay a small entry fee to support the ongoing preservation of this special place.

For tourists the ticket is 500 LKR. Free for the locals. Mulikiriya Raja Maha Vihara is one of those hidden gems that feels both spiritual and breathtakingly beautiful. The temple itself carries a deep sense of history and calm, but what really amazed me was the view from the grounds. As the sun begins to set, the sky turns golden and pink, and you can see it slowly sinking behind the lush greenery and tall palm trees. On a clear day, the ocean glimmers in the distance, adding to the magic of the moment. The top is nice during the sunset and peaceful specially now since it's off season, so not many people go here.

A beautiful temple built on a mountain site since 200 BC. Amazing views as you climb over 500 steps to the top. The architects were thoughtful as they built a resting place at certain heights. It is within these resting places that there are additional prayer structures. These prayer sites also have surprisingly awesome lying Buddhas in them. Overall, the climb to the top, with the resting places, really made this a very good experience.

A wonderful, mystical place that's a must-see if you're in the area. Great views from the top. We had a guide who told us a lot about the history. Entrance fee is 500 SLR.

A beautiful temple built into a rock face. Many stairs but mostly dappled shade with water points throughout. Beautiful carvings and paintings to Buddha. Stairs aren’t suitable for everyone - some are very steep. The car park has locals pressuring you to donate or buy flowers for the same rate as entry. We were happy to oblige out of politeness but our driver was not happy about it.
