We had a great family day here! Kids played had a blast! We all enjoyed delicious smoked chicken, brisket and ribs! The owner was working smoking all the meats, he truly was putting love into food! I would highly recommend this place, it’s a hidden gem! They have live bbq events, kids have fishing, old school fun games, they can even putt golf, s’more section ALL inc for FREE! It was a great inexpensive day w the family! I can’t thank the owner Alfred Mann enough for truly thinking of not just another restaurant but a place where kids can be outside enjoying time w friends and family without it breaking your pocket! That’s hard to find these days! It was so much more than a restaurant just wanting to take your money it was like they were giving back to each guest. Just so nice to see! Plus they have family meal deals for us hard working parents, who need a helping hand sometimes lol! They have a corporate room you can rent inside it’s decorated so nice or you can do an outside covered private event or party there! They even have a stage for your special dj or performer. The food and staff were excellent! Their sauces were incredible a must try! They had s’more bread pudding a yummy finish to a great day! It was clean and well maintained. The prices were well worth our special day. We can’t wait to go back!

Went here for the first time since I was in the area. I didn't know what to expect! The food was absolutely amazing for the price that you pay!! Highly recommend the ribs and the Apple slaw! Very packed at first so seating was hard to find but of need be tske it to go your not gunna wanna miss out!! Stop by the next time you've got that BBQ craving!!

myself and my mom had the lunch express with pork tips and black eye peas with yellow rice. great taste and the best service . she was the nicest sweet person. if you come before one, you can get the lunch express 210 that includes a drink. Munchies Live BBQ is a hidden gem tucked inside a small building shared with other local businesses in Mount Dora. This cozy spot offers a unique, intimate BBQ experience that is both simple and satisfying. Ordering is a breeze—you can place your order at the register or through a convenient kiosk. The seating area is small yet comfortable, creating a welcoming vibe. While not ideal for larger groups, they do offer some outdoor seating, which helps accommodate more guests. The person running the establishment is professional and attentive, making the experience even better. I opted for the 1/2 slab of pork ribs, and they were absolutely fantastic. Perfectly seasoned, these ribs didn’t even require BBQ sauce—though the sauce served on the side was decent, albeit a bit watery. I would love to see a few more sauce options, like a mustard-based or sweeter BBQ sauce, to complement the excellent ribs. Nonetheless, the ribs themselves were mouthwatering, and I would happily order them again. My girlfriend tried the $12 lunch special, which is a fantastic value. The generous portion included chopped pork, BBQ beans, a rice base, and garlic toast, plus a drink. The meal was hearty, flavorful, and definitely worth the price. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Munchies Live BBQ. The food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the atmosphere was charming. If you’re exploring Mount Dora and find yourself craving some top-notch BBQ, this spot is a must-visit. Just keep in mind the limited seating if you’re with a larger group. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

This place was absolutely amazing. The food had a really good smoke flavor and their homemade barbecue sauces tasted amazing. I could really taste the smoke flavoring throughout the food. I’m pretty picky when it comes to barbecue being born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri known for its amazing barbecue. This place was as good or better than any Kansas City barbecue that I’ve had. I’ve been looking for the perfect barbecue ever since I moved to Florida over five years ago and I have finally found it. P.S. there is an amazing tavern and local brewery in the same building called Wolf Branch Brewery 😉

I love munchies! Such a quick and affordable option during my lunch break. Nothing I have ever tried has been bad, and the owner is super kind! The smores bread pudding is FANTASTIC! Love supporting small businesses.

The service is so friendly and the food is delicious! Highlights are the mac n cheese, brewed iced tea, and the pulled chicken and baked beans. I love the Mt Dora marketplace location because I can also enjoy shopping and walking around the charming downtown! Definitely recommend ! There is street parking and some public parking lots around the area. There is a small seating area to enjoy your meal

A great no hoopla place to grab a taco or two. You can order a la carte or an entire meal. Everything is made to order. So don't be in too much of a hurry. Seating can be an issue as the place is rather small. I had a barbacoa taco. It was packed with lots of meat. And surprisingly filling.

I found it just ok- we stopped for lunch and it is located in a marketplace building with other eateries and a brewery- very little dining space inside, we opted to take one of the few tables outside. We weren't advised that they had lunch specials, and ended up ordering a dinner plate to split. The bread (I know, not really the meal) was hard to bite into, the mac-n-cheese over-cooked and over-seasoned & was not at all my taste. Black beans and rice was nothing special. The brisket was good, fatty and not a huge portion for the cost. We have definitely had better. Thursday lunch could have been better.

I ordered the jerk chicken, based on the photo on the wall. The photo depicts a well seasoned, grilled (slightly charred? Just the way I like it) piece of chicken. Maybe not "dry" per se, but certainly not wet. What I got was chunks of what appeared to be boiled chicken sitting in a sauce. No grill lines, no seasoning visible to the eye, just a soppy pile of chicken that had turned dark brown from soaking up the liquid it sat in. I was already bummed out, knowing it wasn't at all what I wanted, but I still gave it a try. The texture was just what I imagined it would be, very soft and no bite, nothing to chew on. And the overpowering taste of the sauce; it didn't even taste like chicken. The potato salad and coleslaw weren't good either. I'm sorry, I will never be back. :(

I tried their brisket , it no flavor full of fat, and I tried their burger and it wasn't much better. The service was good and friendly. The bartender was super nice too bad the food wasn't good. I will not return. The ambiance was ok and the bar area wasn't part of the restaurant weird set up.

Food absolutely SUCKS! The whole place needs to be shut down! Plus, their "ice cream trucks", the drivers are sickos who bother the neighborhoods they drive through by sitting in one spot for 20 minutes while on their phones and blasting the bloody music over and over and over and over..... No STARS

We attended MT Dora festivities this evening which was great. Wonderful little town with a warm ambience and friendly family surroundings Friendly service at this eatery but the set up was crazy. Very little room to move around in quite difficult to find the entrance into the place. Very crammed in with little room music was too loud on the stereo. We had pulled bbq pork and bbq chopped chicken with Mac and cheese black beans broccoli and potato salad. Portions were small and the food too spicy for our taste. But the food was fresh and hot and served timely. Would not go back but others may really enjoy the spicy type of food and louder than usual music. Just not for us.

Soggy flavorless brisket. Watered down bbq sauce. The beans and rice were good. The Mac and cheese was overcooked. A few outdoor tables. All for $24? Not sure what they put into the unwatered sauce to get the reviews but this place IS TO GOOD BBQ what Checkers is to fine dining. AVOID.

Stopped in this area of mount Dora to do the touristy thing and have some lunch. There are about five or six eateries in this building and my friend and I chose the lunch special of two lunch things for $10 rather than $6 each. I chose pulled pork and my friend grilled chicken. Each came with rice, a bean choice (mine was barbecue beans) and a small bread slice. I found the pork waaay too smoky and did not have much pork flavor the sauce side was just plain watery tomato based sauce. The rice with beans over the top was a bit salty. A little work on quality will help this busines succeed in my opinion. The special also came with a lemonade or iced tea. That was good.

I ordered from Door Dash no comments for the establishment/ambiance/etc. We paid almost 50$ for the Lion Combo. The meat was all packed together, you can't really tell what it is. The (4) sides are 4 ounce containers. We ordered the combo for 2 people. The sauce is watery. The garlic bread isn't great, the corn muffin is a super dry Jiffy corn mix. The saving grace was the Jerk chicken.

Heard so many good things about this place but man was I disappointed. I talked my wife into trying this place out, now I owe her lol, due to my bad choice. Location is not ideal. It's kind of crammed in there and the atmosphere is kind of depressing. We ordered basically a sampler for two people. When I say the meats were greasy, I cannot accurately describe the amount of grease other than to say they were swimming in grease. It was as if the lady had lifted a pan they'd let the meat simmer in all day and just tipped it over in to our to go box. Or maybe they emptied their fryer. It was an insane amount. Sides were TINY and not good. Service was unfriendly and seemed to just be going through the motions. We definitely will not be back.

I cannot believe it's legal to portray a regular meal as a family meal. There is no way this is meant to feed multiple people. Everything is tiny! The $5 corn muffin, are you kidding me, it's a little jiffy muffin.You are ripping people off, that's really not right!!!

Delicious! Tasty! Come out to Mount Dora and check out this neat and adorable BBQ spot. Had lunch there yesterday, enjoyed mac n cheese and curry chicken and loads more offered... the staff is absolutely friendly and so helpful. I highly recommend.

Sauce was great, food was seasoned, bread was soft, and all under 16$ in down town mount dora !!!!

The flavors were not what I was looking for. Seemed like it hung out in wet steamers too long and it caused the quality to suffer. That was just my experience, maybe yours will be better. Nice people running the place, very friendly.

I ordered the BBQ Chop Chicken Hoagie with a side of Mac and Cheese Food was full of flavor from the spices to the meat being smoked. Although the BBQ sauce was not Along with being in a great location The service was very quick/easy to order. - drawback I would say is the seating was limited and very confusing.

This BBQ spot is located inside the Mount Dora food market. It has yummy vegetarian friendly sides. We got the soul plate which featured Mac and cheese, collards, beans and rice, and corn bread. All of this southern food was exactly what I was looking for when I searched for soul food. The owner and manager were so kind and friendly. We loved the outside seating on the street. It was really central and we could easily people watch!

Let me start by saying that we ended up here by complete accident because we missed our exit. That being said we followed the GPS down a dirt road past a small church and onto a beautiful lot full of shady trees and nice lake. We ordered two combo platters and took a seat at the outdoor picnic tables. Then our minds were blown. I've had some good BBQ in my life but that was hands down the best bbq I've ever had in my life. Fall off the bone ribs with spectacular flavors and the sides were just as good . Make the stop here you won't be disappointed.

Boy, oh boy! Every now and then you find find the real deal!!!! I've driven past their little sign more than a few times, and I decided to give it a try. What a neat concept and very tasty BBQ!!!! You sit outside on beautiful lakeside property. The service was great and very accommodating and friendly. I had a chopped pork sandwich and collard greens! Very well prepared, tender, and tasty! The service was so friendly, and it would be an outstanding place to take your kids as well . I will definitely be back as there is no other place like this around!!!!! Well done!!!!!!!

This hide-a-way was truly wonderful . In addition to the food there is canoeing, fishing, camping. Customer service was wonderful, waiter helpful and friendly. Plan to go back there. You get more than your money worth.

Let me start by saying the food is outstanding. The type of food that hits your SOUL!!! My biggest recommendation is the Mac n cheese but you can taste the love they put into every food item !!

I am not kidding you this was the best barbecue meal I have ever had! I even purchased the rub they used on the ribs for only $1.50. It's a small restaurant but honestly I've never had better bbq. I will be recommending to everyone I know

Excellent bbq - recommend the 3 meat platter - ribs, chop chicken and pulled pork. Comes with 2 sides - had the bbq beans & coleslaw and they were very solid. This spot us a hidden gem and we will be back asap. Great job Munchies.

For being in the back of a Christian summer camp, this BBQ was pretty tasty. I ordered the chopped chicken with mac&cheese and rice, with a drink, all for around $14. Chicken was really good, with their homemade sauce. The mac was also great. Portions are pretty big for the price. Even the drinks, homemade lemonade and sweat tea, were very tasty! My friend got a rack of ribs and 2 sides for $20. Also really good and fresh! Seating is limited and outside, but the food works really well to-go. While the ambience is a little different, don't let it be a reason not to try it out!

The food tasted old and dry. Very small portions for the amount of money it cost. The girl working there was VERY RUDE and had a VERY BAD ATTITUDE. DO NOT RECOMMEND! Gross and not worth it.

Best BBQ place in town! We had the chopped chicken platter and a ribs platter which were amazing! There mac and cheese was phenomenal, including their baked beans and potato salad. The staff was very friendly. They also have natural lemonade and tea! On top of their amazing food, Munchies Live BBQ comes with great vibes. They have lakeside dinning, hammocks, etc. HIDDEN GEM for sure!

Found this rustic place down a path in Gotha and booooyyyyy!!!!! I was so amazed. Truly a unique out door dinning experience. The kids were able to run around and play down by the lake. Ordered the family meal and it was sooooo much food!!!! Ribs, pulled pork, and Jerk chicken. The meat was juicy, great dry rub and awesome sauces you can choose (all homemade) Mac and cheese had so much flavor and the Appleslaw was definitely something to try. Recommend it to anyone who loves bbq and the outdoors.

Ate here today after going to the Blueberry Festival. We got the Burger with baked beans, potato salad, cornbread and pecan/sweet potato pie. It ALL was exceptional!! Wonderful people, indoor and outdoor seating available in the center of downtown Mount Dora. Will definitely be back SOON!!

I lived in SC for 4 years of my life. Ate my way through TN, GA, NC and other States. Inevitably BBQ was part of that culinary journey. In other words, I know a thing or two about BBQ, good BBQ at that! Munchies more than hit the spot. For starters Shaina welcomes you warmly underneath a tent with a colorful menu and various social media platform signs. In other words, spreading the word is good for business. My opinion is I'm writing this a bit conflicted as I would like this place all to myself. We were disappointed they had no brisket, so we ordered a mix of chopped pork, chopped chicken, ribs, and an assortment of sides that included Mac'n Cheese, Cole slaw, baked beans, rice and beans. After one bite I understood why they had run out of Brisket: if it was at least as good as everything we tasted we need to call ahead next time to ensure we know when to come in. Everything was on point with the various versions of BBQ sauce perfectly complementing each bite. Did I mention the ribs fell off the the bone? All in all, they don't have something good here. They have something great. I look forward to the next time. PS: the walk in the back by the lake was stunning.

I went to a group event held outside of the restaurant. The food, customer service, environment, everything was AMAZING!! The portions are generous and very reasonably priced. The Chef/BBQ Master came out and spoke with us. We were served chicken both pulled and jerk, ribs, rib tips, mac and cheese, potato salad, beans, rice and beans, greens, and my favorite, the cole slaw (and I'm not a cole slaw type person). It was all delicious! I will definitely be back.

You have GOT to have this food if you're in the area (we found them on the corner of Hempel and Old Winter Garden). The people are super nice, an the food is AMAZING! We got ribs, dirty rice, and armadillo eggs (potatoes wrapped in bacon). Everything was delicious!!!

My wife and I had the fortunate opportunity to enjoy lunch today at Munchies Live Barbecue. The establishment checked all the boxes and we were extremely impressed. Customer Service, environment/ambiance and food were all exceptional. We were greeted on arrival and given a brief overview of the amenities and grounds. My beautiful wife and I enjoyed friendly and spirited games of miniature golf, corn hole throw, Jenga, and billiards. It was peaceful chatting with my wife while surrounded by the sounds of nature. The food was amazing. Chef Alfred put his proverbial foot in it. The sides (Collard greens, coleslaw, Macaroni and Cheese and Baked beans) played sidekick to hefty portion of pulled chicken, pork, chicken, and ribs. While all sides were extremely good, there was a twist to the coleslaw that I never seen before and oh boy was it good. (Want to know what it is, then try them out). Chef Alfred and his team were very attentive throughout our visit and specifically the meal. If you want the same old tired restaurant experience that are a dime a dozen, then Munchies is not for you. But if you truly want a unique dining experience that will tingle your taste buds and leave you with a pleasant and memorable experience, I strongly encourage you to give Chef Alfred and Munchies a try. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Passed by this BBQ stand hundreds of times and always said I was going to stop. I finally stopped! I like to support local businesses. I'm wishing I would have stopped years ago! They have a large menu ranging from sandwiches to ribs to grilled fish. The man and woman (who I'm assuming are the owners) were very friendly. They were very apologetic about being out of ribs for the next few hours (we weren't even mad). I got a chopped chicken bbq sandwich that was huge and delicious. The sauce had the perfect amount of heat and the chicken was nice and juicy with good smoky flavor. I tried my husband's rice and beans. Delicious! I can't wait to try their other food. They have menus to take with you that have their phone number on it so you can call in your order too.

Such a great meal with a great environment! Such nice staff along with amazing food and great drinks. The raspberry lemonade was outstanding!! I had the pork sandwich with mac and cheese and my dad had the ribs platter. We loved it! Such a great environment with corn hole, lake views, and hammocks. 5 stars for sure!

I've been going here literally for years and each time I go it's great. The pork is super juicy and tender, also the Mac n cheese is my favorite side. I definitely recommend all of the food though.

Where to begin with how great this BBQ is. I've been going since he opened, as we live right up the road, and year after year just exceptional. The sides are an original take on the Classic BBQ sides. My kids cannot get enough and they are discerning. The price is right too. It's easy in, easy out, but make sure you chat with the owner as he is a great guy with a great story.

This is a great family owned BBQ restaurant that is next to a gas station in Ocoee/Gotha at the corner of Hempel and Old Winter Garden Rd. Don't be scared away by the look of this place as it's just an outdoor stand walled off by a metal fence. They greeted us when we arrived and they have a number of choices on their menu, from $4.50 lunch specials to full catering menus. Chicken, ribs, sausage, pork, home made BBQ sauce and you've got a great meal. I had the chicken lunch special which came with yellow rice and black beans and a side of garlic bread. The chicken was nice and tender with a smoky flavor and the BBQ sauce has some heat to it that leaves your taste buds feeling satisfied with each bite. The garlic bread was the best I have had in a very long time. I can't wait to try their jerked chicken next time. It only took me 15 years of driving by this place to finally stop by and try it and I will definitely be a regular now.
