MUNI KYOTO by Onko Chishin (Kyoto Prefecture, Japan) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Set in a verdant riverside location in western Kyoto, at the foot of the Arashiyama Mountains, with a commanding view of the Togetsukyo Bridge, Muni Kyoto hardly feels like a city hotel at all. Where you might expect a very traditional ryokan you instead find a very contemporary luxury boutique hotel, one that’s decked out in the gray and cream tones (and B&B Italia furnishings) you’d expect from a place like Milan. All the same, the experience is perfectly in keeping with rural Japanese hospitality tradition, from the luxe and elegant rooms to the exceedingly tranquil spa and a pair of fine restaurants — unusually, they’re both by Alain Ducasse." - Tablet Hotels

Muni was a really beautiful experience. Right outside the front gate is Arabica by the lake, which is beautiful by the way. The service is excellent, assisting us from the very start to the end when we boarded a taxi to the train station. The food of the restaurant, though a quiet place, was really excellently crafted as well. There are no communication issues either, with the staff being compromised of many who can speak fluent english. Finally, the rooms were excellent, surrounding a courtyard with a really zen bonzai tree, and the suites having everything you would need including trad. bathing items.

Great! I was there for 4nights and it was a very great stay. My parents used the 2nd floor room and my room was on the 1st floor. They are both very beautiful (Japanese modern luxury) but they have two different vibes. 2nd floor rooms feel peaceful and the 1st floor rooms feel energetic. Younger people will enjoy either room very well. However, elders will probably prefer the 2nd floor. Lastly, the entire hotel staff was very pleasant and professional.

Had a great stay here. The staff were super friendly and helped us book restaurants (a must in Arashiyama since places fill up fast). Room was very clean with a nice mountain view. Loved being right next to Arabica coffee and close to lots of food spots so we could skip the crowd in the morning. Would happily stay again!

Muni was beyond 5 stars ! For everything ! It was a blessing in disguise as we over look our booking and didn’t have a hotel for that night it was a rainy night and we went door to door and all the hotels around the area were booked out and we were so glad they had rooms ! They quickly clear out the rooms to make space for us within a quick notice and even gave us a free drink in the cafe while we waited for the rooms, we also had our bags coming from Osaka and sending to our other hotel and they made the effort to help us get the bags ! We are so incredibly grateful for the service we had at muni! The rooms beyond ur wildest imaginations it was so spacious and the view was stunning the bed the softest I ever had it was a dream The location was amazing as well as it is tuck in a small lane but close enough to walk to all the tourist attractions and you could get in the arabica line early in the morning Also would love to mention the team was so attentive to our every move , I went to get out minoring coffee and had 2 cups in each hand and was struggling with the door ( tapping the card with my mouth mind u) and the team came running to be help me with the door and walked me to my room and even help with the door to my room So pleased with the service will def be back!

The location of this hotel offers the best view compared to others, as it faces the river and a small waterfall. It is also right in the center of the Arashiyama tourist area. The room is large, very new, and spotless. The service is world-class. This is a must-stay place if you plan to visit Arashiyama for a night

My husband and I came for lunch and it was absolutely delicious! It’s a set menu with 2 or 3 options for an appetizer, a soup, a meal and a dessert. It was around 6k yen per person and was so delicious!! The pork and the short rib pasta were fantastic. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a spot right on the river!

Our stay at Muni Kyoto was a real highlight of the trip. The hotel is perfectly located right in front of the famous Togetsukyo Bridge, giving us stunning views of the river and mountains. The design blends modern elegance with touches of Japanese minimalism, making it both stylish and relaxing. The service was warm yet refined, with the staff going out of their way to make us feel welcome. Breakfast at their Riverside Cafe was also excellent; we especially love the bread basket! I have to say that it was truly a luxurious and memorable experience.

Stayed here for 3 nights during my birthday trip in October and first and foremost, the hotel is incredibly beautiful, overlooking Mount Arashiyama, which we could enjoy from our balcony. Location is great, service was good, bathroom is huge and a good sized tub. Bed was a little too big for my liking, and if check out could be a bit later, it would be perfect - still these are personal preferences. Would stay here again!
