This place is absolutely breathtaking! The staff is super friendly, the rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, the views are beyond beautiful!. If you’re looking for “zen”, “relaxation” or “romance” this is your escape away! It was so relaxing staying at this hotel and the complimentary pajamas and amenities they offered were great as well. Both shower and bathtub were also large and spacious. Very clean. Our favorite hotel in Japan. Only thing they are missing is offering in-room dining but that’s only if I’m being picky/critical. 10 stars out of 10, highly recommend!!

The hotel itself is gorgeous—impeccably clean, thoughtfully designed, and seamlessly blends modern luxury with natural beauty. We stayed on the first floor with a garden and water view, which was so peaceful and scenic it felt like stepping into a painting. The room was spotless, beautifully laid out, and incredibly comfortable. Every detail felt intentional. The staff were warm, professional, and attentive, making us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived. Breakfast was a standout—delicious, artfully prepared, and a true culinary experience. Highly recommend MUNI KYOTO for anyone looking for a boutique stay that’s both refined and relaxing. It was the perfect base for exploring Arashiyama and an experience in itself.

Stunning architectural design, large room with a great view of the river and mountain. Exceptional service at the hotel, juice bar and the restaurant. Very close to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest/Grove and the Iwatayama Summit.

This was THE most aHmazing hotel I’ve ever stayed in Tokyo. It was my first time in Kyoto most specifically but - ohh my, the bery best. From the location to the staff, the food, the amenities. I cannot wait to come back here. We stayed in the emperor suite - husband and children. We had so much fun! Please stay here. Loved everything about it, specially the staff! Thank you for all!

We loved Muni so much - the service, food and location were sublime. The room was so big and the view was priceless - we sat outside on the balcony all day with tea listening to the sound of the river. It was a great balance of privacy but also being able to see Arashiyama. Thank you!

Spacious and serene, Muni Kyoto offers an exceptional stay with large rooms, complete privacy, and a calming, zen-like view. The gentle sound of flowing water just outside the room adds to the tranquil ambiance, making it easy to relax and unwind. The bed—a generous double queen—ensures a restful night’s sleep. I booked the half-board option, which included dinner at MUNI Alain Ducasse, the hotel’s Michelin one-star contemporary French restaurant. Every dish was exquisite—an unforgettable culinary experience. But the true highlight of Muni Kyoto is its unbeatable location. Nestled right by the picturesque Katsura River and just a short stroll from the iconic Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, it’s perfectly situated for both relaxation and exploration.

We spent one night in Muni after careful research for our anniversary trip to Japan. Several Japanese You-tubers and reviews had high marks and they did not disappoint. It is located few steps from the famous Arabica coffee shop and very easy access to Togetsu bridge. There are lots of folks walking by the river, but noise is not concern at all as the soothing noise of the water from the garden erases them. We stayed on the second floor, and it had amazing view. We could see the bridge on left and Arashiyama on the right. It was very relaxing to soak in the atmosphere out on the balcony. Room was spacious and clean with some modern touch. It was really good to rest a little after the hustle and bustle in the bigger cities. |Hotel service was excellent. The gentleman in the front was very professional and attentive. We opted to try some authentic Izakaya and he booked us a perfect place despite my husband's minimal and rather confusing request. Breakfast was arranged at Muni La Terrasse with a same view, but closer to the river. Food was excellent, of course. Overall, I would not categorize Muni as an inexpensive accommodation, but it absolutely met our expectation. Only regret maybe that we did not book multiple nights!

Terrific location, high-tech yet tasteful interior decor (modern minimaliste), sumptuous breakfast with river view during sunrise, plus friendly & attentive hotel staff who are always ready to help! No hesitation to recommend this luxury hotel in Arashiyama Kyoto 5-Stars *****
