Pros: Good food options, plenty of high-end stores and duty free shops.
To note: There aren't many food options, so be prepared for that.
It took 45 minutes to get through the United bag check and another 20 to get through security. At the United Airlines line, workers kept leaving their posts at the baggage line and they kept asking for people who were going to various U.S. cities because the lines were super long, so the people traveling there would've been late if they had waited in the lines for the total 45 minutes. At security, the workers were asking people individually if they have any makeup, creams, etc, which made the lines longer. Also, security workers don't allow people to grab trays to put their stuff in: THEY will get the trays and put your stuff in there FOR you, which also slows down the process. After security, you have to go through yet ANOTHER passport check at the "Automated Border Control," as well as a passport check to get to the gate, which makes for FIVE checks before you even get to your gate. In total, it took my husband and me almost TWO HOURS to get to our gate once we arrived at the airport.
I've flown in and out of five country ports, lived abroad in two different countries, been to over 20 American cities, have been to six countries, and this was THE MOST stressed I've been at an airport! There HAS to be a better way to make this system easier, quicker, and more efficient than the way it is at Munich Airport. There HAS to be a better system, and Munich hasn't found it yet.
If you arrive at this airport for an international flight, arrive at least five hours early if you want a relaxing experience. For domestic flights, I would say arrive three hours early.
