Fantastic. This was one of the best meals I had in Mexico. Nice serving size Staff was so accommodating. Every food was seasoned perfectly. Drinks tasted good, but could’ve been a little stronger A great experience from beginning to end

charles hong

Google
Mole de Olla (beef with corn, potato, carrot, ..etc in tomato soup) 360 peso, Cecina de Tepeaca (cured top quality beef), Taco 265 peso. Soup was delicious, but the other 2 dishes were a bit salty.

Google
Absolutely beautiful restaurant, the best service you can experience…and the food is divine. I will remember the enchiladas tres moles forever. I would be happy I f I could eat here every day.

Google
This had to be the most wonderful dining experience we've ever had in Puebla. I highly suggest you put it on your list and be sure to get reservations because the place gets packed quickly

Darren Miller

Google
Beautiful setting, really nice service. The Mole Poblano was everything I had been dreaming of! Highly recommend the Poblano craft beers.

Google
Ate there twice during 20 day visit to Puebla. Good mole. Lamb meatball dish was very tasty. Nice terrace. Good service.

Google
Amazing food, great staff and service, and welcoming/cozy vibe. The best mole I have ever eaten. Beautiful mural. Will definitely come back when I return to Puebla.

Yelp
Exquisita comida, me encantó, el mejor platillo para degustar el mole en sus diferentes sabores, el servicio de meseros excelente todos muy amables y atentos, el lugar es extraordinario muy agradable, limpio y los murales son extraordinarios.

Yelp
We really liked the open air dining room with interesting murals on the walls. We shared a chicken broth soup that we both thought was Terrific. We also got tacos arepas with lamb. The lamb was somewhat dry, but it was a very generous portion. The salsa and sauces were all good. Service was awkward at times, such as when we first sat down and didn't realize we were talking to their wine sommelier and we tried to order a beer he didn't respond, but just stared at us.

Phil B.

Yelp
We were a large group so service was a bit slow. But to be expected especially when some translation was needed. They also had a short supply of English Menus. My Mojito was delicious. My Salad was all very big and filling. I'd wished I hadn't ordered an entire. My entree was fish. I asked for it to be served without Adobo Sauce. They said it was premixed. Gotta say it was very bad. The fish was in a parchment bag swimming in Adobo. I took a few bites a just left it. Husband liked his chicken dish. So far our most expensive meal in Mexico.

Yelp
Excellent poblana food! Great service and ambience. We ordered cemita sampler, verdolaga salad and albóndigas. Waitresses are amazing and kind. Mexican wine was great! As a digestive, we had a Yolixpo (some type of alcohol infused with 13 herbs) and it was exquisite! This place is where the first chile en nogada was made. The murals are awesome and the ambience in general is casual but with fine dining service. This is a must if you're visiting Puebla.

Yelp
What an amazing experience it was to dine at El Mural de los Poblanos. We stayed a day and a half in Puebla (regrettably, but we will definitely be back soon!) We found this location fairly close to the Zocalo. It was possibly a 11 minute walk or so. If you're in town and you're looking for an upscale dining experience...add this to your list. We came in during breakfast time. It's a beautiful restaurant. Beautiful art & the plates add an authentic touch. We had the tres moles enchiladas. My boyfriend and I were going to share the dish since we weren't too hungry but wanted to get our MOLE fill in. We love mole! They have a Traditional mole poblano, pipian Rojo, & pipian verde. We also got a dish off the dinner menu which were semitas. When we were planning on ordering them, they told us it was a dinner item. Which is completely understandable but a minute later our amazing waiter came by to ask if we still wanted them he could ask the kitchen to make them for us. And luckily, they made them for us! Thank you to our waiter for the excellent service.

Yelp
On our first night here in Puebla, my husband and I came to eat here based on my cousin's recommendation. It was a good suggestion and I did enjoy the food, but was a tad bit disappointed with our waiter who seemed to be having a bit of an off night. I tried to be pleasant with him, but he seemed a bit too serious and not too friendly. He did bring us our drinks but I had to ask him for our silverware and had to remind him of a few things. We first ordered "Quesadillas de flor de Calabaza" which is Quesadillas made with squash flower, which is a special quesadilla I've been craving for once I returned to Mexico. My mom used to make it when I was a kid, so I was looking forward to get in here, and of course only here in Mexico. I wanted so badly for my husband to try it and get the experience. Anyhow, I misread the menu and believe it was supposed to have four pieces, so when I asked the waiter he didn't seem to take my question so nicely, oh vey! My husband ordered for his main coarse the ribs with salsa pasilla, which he enjoyed and I liked it as well, of course I tried it! The ribs were falling off the bone tender. Eat your heart out Kansas City! Anyhow, I had the traditional mole poblano, with the chicken which it typically comes with, although they did provide your choice of meat. I did enjoy the mole, but have to admit that a few days later after eating mole here, I had tried homemade mole from an old lady whose family had invited us to mourn along with her family during "Day of the Dead," and we had the chance to experience a tradition that goes back to Nahuatl/Mexica heritage with the alter and inviting strangers to eat along with family members who are mourning their deceased loved ones. It will be a memory my husband and I will treasure for a long time. I unfortunately loved her mole a lot more than this restaurant style mole; however, this place was a close second. If I ever come back, I may try the albondegas (Mexican meatballs) which I recall my mom making, but she never taught me how to make these, and I miss them. Overall, the place was a nice place to eat, but wished that the waiter had been in better spirits that day.

Suneel S.

Yelp
Fun place, good food. Mexican vibes. Fast service. Crowded. Worth visiting. I would recommend for family or group of friends

Yelp
Great food. We had the mole pepita, mole sampler, chicken soup, and squash blossom quesadilla. Rice pudding for dessert. My wife and I each had a cocktail and some bottled waters. Everything was great, we were out the door for around $100. It was our most expensive meal in Puebla, but totally worth it.

Mar B.

Yelp
It's a 5 compared to all the other food we had in Puebla. Maybe not the worlds best but we found food in Puebla to fall a little short and overall this was the nicest dinner we had. Expected a little more craftsmanship from the mezcal cocktails, but we all ordered mole enchiladas and enjoyed them. Nice little quartyard seating too. Service time was so so, but all employees were very nice. The real gem is their giftshop- we spent a lot of time at the end of our trip buying mole to go (the sell it frozen), clay shot glasses and dishes, plus some speciality liqueurs. They even sell their pretty hand painted recycled glass cups that are served in the restaurant. Overall a nice place, I'd return if I visited Puebla again

Tim P.

Yelp
We had a very nice dinner here with friends. The restaurant is very nice and decorated with plants throughout and murals on the wall. Our friends told us they are known for their poblano dishes. We started with chalupas poblano appetizer that was good with the various salsas. I got the pork with poblano mole and my wife a thinly cut steak. I am not a big fan of mole but it was ok. The pork was good. My wife's steak could have used something to with it such as chimichurri. The service was good and the waiters attentive.

Andrea S.

Yelp
I had the Salpicón de Res salad, and it was absolutely delicious. I would definitely get it again. My husband had the Chile Ancho Relleno de Queso and really enjoyed it. Next time he plans to try Escamoles, ant eggs, which are currently in season. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was outstanding. We explored the menu in Spanish first, but with so many details and so much variety, we appreciated our server's offer of an English menu. Really pleasant atmosphere in a beautiful old building with balconies overlooking the street. Vibrant rooms with colorful murals. We dressed up a bit but many people were comfortably in the casual clothing they'd worn to enjoy Semana Santa festivities.

Ricardo M.

Yelp
Great service and great food. Chiles en Nogada were very good. There was a long wait, but it was worth the wait.

Theresa D.

Yelp
This location is widely suggested. I will say that it is worth seeing the murals inside. Tell is interesting story and no matter how many times you look at them you'll always walk away having seen something new. I look at the pictures I have, and each section tells a story that ties in together to another piece. I wish I walked away with some sort of pamphletor more information about it. The food was great. I completely enjoyed my meal and my soup. I would highly suggest checking this out when you're in Puebla we did not try what they're known for. (I don't eat meat) But my coworkers and I had no complaints on how well the service, the ambience, the decor, and the food was. I would highly suggest reviewing the menu prior to arriving because you will need to speak in Spanish as your in a Spanish speaking country.

Cami L.

Yelp
The most authentic and amazing food. I'm born and raised in Puebla and I can tell you without any doubts that if you want typical comida poblana this is the place. Their moles are fabulous, the margaritas are a must and the ambiance is divine. Highly recommend as a must if visiting puebla

Hector C.

Yelp
Exelente comida y servicio 100%recomendado el mole es muy muy rico definitivamente regresaré

Efren S.

Yelp
You could not ask for a better experience to sample the food and drink of Puebla. Unfortunately, I arrived just after the season for Chiles en Nogada, a signature dish of the area and also of Mexico. But aside from that, the menu is full of mole from Puebla and Oaxaca as well as Mezcal and wines from Mexico and many other local dishes. The food earns a solid 5 for flavor and quality. Atmosphere including music, art, and vibe earn another solid 5. Service also can't be topped. They obviously have a high ratio of service people to customers and they all are knowledgeable and hustle. Highly recommend and will return!

Ritwik B.

Yelp
Would gladly return to Puebla just to dine here again. A wonderful spot for brunch/breakfast. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the goat mole they had on the menu online but they had just switched to a new seasonal menu. After a healthy dose of fruit, juice, pan dulce and pan salgado, I had the basic mole with chicken: how incredibly perfect. A little sweet and spicy as well as moderately bitter with fresh sliced avocado on top. Tortillas and chicken both perfectly tender. Every bite was delicious. I felt a little out of place since most other parties were families there for a proper Saturday brunch and I was alone, mainly there to try the food. They were still quite courteous and even put a bib on me! (When I tried to take it off, realizing that I do not, like my 3yo, need a bib, they also helped me remove it!) The restaurant itself is very pretty. I sat in the center of their courtyard (covered with glass above, of course). The food was so good it took me a little while to notice all the murals. The wait staff often give guests a quick guide of who's on the mural on request. You might be concerned that this place is touristy since it's so close to the main square, but from the sound of it, it was really mainly locals. This was honestly one of the highlights of my visit to Puebla.

Byron C.

Yelp
Upscale, fine Mexican fare. Has a nice Mezcal tasting bar and gift shop attached. Really enjoyed the atmosphere. I tried the sopa seco and chapulines, not my favorite but fun to try unique local food. Steak, mole, and cocktails were great.

Melissa F.

Yelp
Absolutely love the place, service was on point, super clean, COVID safe, food was Soo good. We went in for brunch they start coffee,Americano, or, Cappuccino and offer sweet bread. They take your food order while you wait they bring you , fresh fruit and yogurt with nut/ granola on the side. Options for fresh juice Green, pineapple, orange, grapefruit. We ordered something familiar ....chiliquiles I got with chicken and green sauce and hubby got steak with red sauce.. Both were perfect... crunch was right green sauce Perfect and his. Red sauce was slightly smoky yes n yes. This is a must go place and the price tag for all of this was LESS THAN $25 USD

Edward L.

Yelp
Visited this place during my business trip, the food was excellent, service was on par. The food is very authentic Puebla style. The ambience is very nice, the roof opens up to the out side and you are actually sitting in a courtyard, the Resturant has some history as it was built in the 1800's. The walls are painted with faces of famous people such as movies stars, politicians and other- very cool. The restaurant also has a small store at the entrance where you can purchase various local items including the restaurants "mole pueblano" and local Mezcal.

Feliza F.

Yelp
We ordered Chile en Nogada and a cemita trio. Delicioso! We also got drinks. The pomegranate cocktail was too thick and too sweet. The carajillo was wonderful. But... before you enter try the Mezcal Mule at the bar downstairs, it-was-amazing!

Bex A.

Yelp
I had the best breakfast I've ever had at this lovely open-air beautiful restaurant. The chalupas (*nothing* at all like they are in the states) tasted like they were made my God. They bring 3 different delectable salsas to the table as well as bread and churros. I looked around the restaurant and everyone else's dishes looked spectacular. The ambiance is perfect for a date night or for breakfast with friends. The mimosa was delicious (the champagne poured at your table) and the service from the hostesses (who speak English and Spanish) to the server to the manager made you feel like you are a V.I.P. They also offered mineral water for Americans who want to avoid tummy troubles. Great quality food, beautiful, colorful surroundings with the open air overhead. If you're in Puebla, you *MUST* to go to this place for breakfast--you will not be disappointed. It was so nice, I went twice.

Brian J.

Yelp
For sure eat here when you are in Puebla. Order the chicken mole, and a drink of your choice. The mescal cocktails are great. If you happen to be solo, you can take a chair outside in the main hallway and people watch. The staff are super nice. If it is the right season, you can even try chiles en nogada, with pomegranate. There's a hip bar next door too. Viva Puebla!

Leah M.

Yelp
Visiting Puebla after being in Cancun for a week. This Restaurant was recommended to us while in Cancun. It's has a nice ambience., you can tell that not just anyone comes here to eat. The food was tasty. Everyone pretty much enjoyed their meal. I recommend this place if you enjoy Mole. There are many Mole options since Puebla is known for Mole. The only thing for us is we are use to a more fast paced service, so service is a little on the slow side. That is something we have noticed while being in Mexico. The portion sizes are sizable. Come hungry.

Jorge M.

Yelp
Everything !!! It's definitely a world class restaurant . Food , service and ambiance are all 5 stars

Marlene R.

Yelp
August 6th, 2021 Most memorable meal in Mexico! I was visiting Puebla with my support dog and friend, eager to have a delicious typical meal from Puebla. We came for one thing in particular: Chile en Nogada. My friend recommended "Mural de los Poblanos" because of their beautiful atmosphere with colorful murals and delicious upscale food since she had eaten there before. I recommend making a reservation in advance to make sure you have a spot since it is a popular spot. When we arrived, they were extremely accommodating and figured out a way to seat us with my dog. (Heads up: if you have a medical condition and travel with a support dog, you must bring documentation with you). They sat us in a private room for small events, which let us play our own music on an app called "Sonos". We were dancing to regatón and having ourselves a little party. In particular, Oscar, Jonathan, and Lucio were so attentive and welcoming. They gave us excellent suggestions for what to order and we felt right at home. Their drink list (especially Mezcal) is super extensive. We ordered the cemitas trio "trilogía de cemitas", chapulines tostadas "tostadas de jocoque con chapulines" and nopal salad "ensalada de nopal" to start. I really recommend the cemitas! They are like mini sandwiches. Chapulines are fried crickets, so if you are scared of eating bugs, don't be! They do an amazing job of making it taste and look delicious. For our entrees, we ordered the mole assortment and chile en nogada (only available in July, August, and September). It was so interesting to taste the many different types of mole they offer. The chile en nogada was AMAZING! The story behind it is even better. If you don't already know the story, ask the waiter! Also ask the waiter about their mural that depicts Mexican sayings. Overall, we had the best experience! I can't wait to return.

Tom S.

Yelp
We were in Puebla with a group. Our guide recommended the Mural Poblano. Simply stated, the food, wine, and service were superb. 3/11/23

Erick E.

Yelp
Beautiful place with great food and attentive service. The food was great i ordered the chilaquiles rojos with cecina. The meal itself came with coffee juice sweet bread and a bowl of fruit with yogurt.

Avelino C.

Yelp
I really like this place. Very beautiful place with traditional and modern art. The service was excellent. I lived some dished but nit all. The albondiga soup which is meatballs, were dry and tasteless. The chiles rellenos en nogada were also not very tasty. The carnita tacos were excellent.

Graciela P.

Yelp
Missing a great attentive service, this will be your place , and the food out of the world!!! Delicious accompanying it with a bottle of wine, THE BESTS!!

Kilted B.

Yelp
I am not sure who these people are who are recommending this place, But this is one of the most disappointing meals I've had in my adult life. Absolutely no flavor, uninspired cuisine. I understand that the bread is handmade but it was as tough as for day-old bread. The cemitas we're a lot of bread with some very subpar cheese. I have the lamb meatballs and to say that I was underwhelmed is an understatement. Absolutely no flavor, no spice. And before you say that I don't have taste buds because of Covid, I assure you that I've tasted plenty of great food in this town today. My partner's mole was.....tired. There is a Mexican restaurant back home that I make fun of for being ooey-gooey sloppy. At least that slop has flavor. Save your pesos and head to Moyelo.

Eric S.

Yelp
So flavorful! The cemitas, mole, jugo all were excellent. The atmosphere was lovely. The service warm and attentive.

Patty H.

Yelp
Amazing food, you must go and try Mural, service, food, drinks and dessert!!! We had a wonderful soup and a beautiful salad. Let me tell you, it was amazing!!! Must stop and enjoy the atmosphere, and the waiters treat you like family!!!!

Mari T.

Yelp
Beautiful mural in the restaurant that tells the story of Puebla. If you can get a server to tell you the story behind each person, it is quite interesting. The service was excellent, the food was amazing, we had the ribs and a complimentary tostada with chapulines, the bread was awesome as well. There was also a salad with sunflower seeds and chicken tostadas with avocado that was very good. The service was excellent and they had a variety of sauces which were all great.

Gloria R.

Yelp
An absolute must if in Puebla - the mole was top 3 in my book (alongside my moms and Pujol). My party of three were lucky to be seated quickly, which greatly helped since we were on a tour bus and had a set time to leave back to CDMX. We enjoyed margaritas made with tamarindo, agua de jamaica, a set of mini tostadas de tinga, and a sampler of every mole they had. It was an incredible experience, packed, and beautiful with all of the murals on display. Would recommend making reservations if you can, but my group was pretty lucky to be seated without them!

Gloria J.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our visit here. Had the mole tasting, probably would go with my favorite next time. Nice ambiance and staff was very nice. Complementary drinks while we waited for our table.

Eduardo M.

Yelp
OMG! Everything was on point. I highly recommend. Definitely try the flight of mole flight. Have a great wine and mezcal selection.

Justine S.

Yelp
Totally underwhelming, probably our least "nice" restaurant that we went to in two weeks of traveling in Mexico. We got seated upstairs completely by ourselves even though the main restaurant downstairs was only half full, and we were the only people up there during the entire span of the meal. No ambience whatsoever so we asked them to put some music on a few times, which they half heartedly started a few times and then it would just fizzle back out into silence. The lamb taco appetizer that we ordered was quite good, but then we got our order of soup (unfortunately I forget the name) which was super bland and tasteless, and then no one was impressed by any of the entrees. We ordered the mole taster, which was interesting but it came with absolutely zero explanation (even though we had a Spanish speaker to translate for us) so we had no idea what we were eating. I didn't want to leave a 15% tip since the meal was so blah but they essentially forced us to by not leaving us and gesturing at us and typing in a 15% tip into the calculator that they brought over until we gave up and just gave them the money so we could get out of there. Save your money and go somewhere else!

Mark A.

Yelp
If you are ever in Puebla, you must dine at el mural de los Poblanos. It competes for top 3 best meals I have ever had in Mexico and while it is upscale and some light say pricey, you definitely get a tremendous amount of value from the experience at this place. For starters the restaurant is decorated beautifully and the first thing you see when you walk in is a beautiful mural that displays many famous Mexicans. It is in an old beautiful building that has been preserved beautifully, like most of Puebla and the location is also great as it is near the Puebla Zocalo. For the food, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I have never been a huge mole fan but I decided to order a mole sampler which had a few different moles seasoned differently, some stronger than others and it was spectacular. I highly recommend that sampler, especially for anyone who has never been fond of mole.

Andrea-Gabrielle A.

Yelp
A good place to go out for a fancier night out. The service is impeccable and the art is so nice. The food was also yummy and I loved the vegetarian options. The drink menu was so incredibly long.. I have to come back to try more

sandra m.

Yelp
El servicio es fantástico, la comida inmejorable y el ambiente es en realidad excelente

Cv m.

Yelp
Great spot. Beautiful and the food and cocktails are amazing. Order the mole sampler with one of the soups. Great service. Truly a must try.

Chris J.

Yelp
Recommend online and did not disappoint. Was our first dinner in Puebla and really enjoyed the 3 mole sampler. Service was excellent as to be expected, nice ambiance.

Rosquete B.

Yelp
5* p El Mural de los Poblanos One of the best restaurants in Puebla, a must visit Mosaic type paintings on walls; three stories of dining Excellent food service by Facundo and Roberto The beer was cold; they have artisan beers Canasta tacos were good (six!!!) - chicken tinga, chicharron, beans, potatoes, Mole desgustación sampler was great: Classico was good; Pipían Rojo (liked a lot); Pipían Verde (pumpkin seed - liked the best); Manchamantel-Pineapple and Adobo (spicy) were okay. Choice of meats: duck, chicken, pork, turkey Great Quetzalcoatl lava cake with ice cream dessert The decaf was Nescafe; Ick!

Lisette C.

Yelp
This place is a very important one. My little sister and I came here on our stop in Puebla. It was the first restaurant we had dinner at and we were super excited. Apparently mole poblano was invented here. At the time we visited they had Chile en Nogada which is their local specialty. They only serve it certain times of year because of the ingredients being in season. Despite the fact that it was available, it just seemed too rich for us so we opted to go with the traditional mole poblano dish. Service was almost regal here, elegant and Polished. But still really friendly. We had a few appetizers before our main dish, and a few cocktails. The cocktails were not their strong suit, but the appetizers, hand made tortillas, Salsas and Mole were top notch. Order slowly and carefully as portions are large. Dress nicely at this place. As I mentioned it's important to the local people, and one of the finest restaurants in town.

Ann K.

Yelp
The service was amazing, though the server was definitely misleading us when he told us that the mole poblano was too small to split between two people. As two girls whose stomachs have steadily been shrinking during the course of our vacation through Mexico, just half of the serving of mole poblano would have been sufficient, but the soup we were led to order as well was delicious and light, so we don't have much of a complaint save for the increased price on our check. However, the servers were amazing in dividing everything we ordered in half in advance, so that my dining partner and I could enjoy an amount of food that we could actually stomach, without ending up spending too much and wasting food on top of that. With how much food we got, I can't imagine finishing an entire serving of everything on my own, or perhaps when they divide they give a little extra? As appetizers, a server came around with fresh warm rolls, of two types that I forget now, but I tried both and couldn't really tell a major difference. One might have been a bit more sour, but with butter they both just tasted like white bread rolls. As another appetizer, they brought out a blend of what looked like pumpkin seeds, a pumpkin blend, and chicken mixed together on a small spoon. It was a bit confusing at first if we were meant to just eat it as it was, but after we got over this initial confusion and stuck the spoon in our mouths it was quite delicious! The soup came with a variety of vegetables and cheese blocks piled in a cute little cylinder, atop which the server poured from a pitcher a good amount of chicken broth. It was light yet flavorful, and left me some room for the main course, the most important part of this experience. The mole poblano we ordered with chicken, and it came with corn tortillas to wrap the chicken, as well as the beans and rice if we so desired to make a burrito. The sauces added that kick of spice that I crave with every meal, though my dining partner was satisfied with the spice of the dish without any additional sauces, so it's definitely up to you how spicy you want your tacos to be. The mole poblano itself was strangely flavored at first, as the chocolate notes stood out in contrast to the other flavors, but as I continued to eat, it got better and better...? Such is the case of trying new dishes, I suppose. The tamale looking thing that came with the mole poblano tasted like licorice, which was unexpected. We used it as a palette cleanser from the strong flavors in the mole poblano, and in my case, to calm my mouth after having engulfed it in the flames of probably too much hot sauce. Overall, a great first experience of (hopefully authentic) mole poblano, though I'm not really sold on the dish. I don't know if I would try that particular dish again, but I have no complaints about the restaurant itself!

Melinda R.

Yelp
We loved the salsa. They were amazing and we couldn't stop!!! We also ordered the soup and it was extremely tasty and it was a big portion.

Marlon B.

Yelp
Great cemitas, the best mole poblanos, try escamoles.... wow. Many options on Artesanal beers .....

Valentino V.

Yelp
The food was delicious. However, when i had saved room for dessert and was ready to order the waiter says sorry kitchen is closed. They need to train their serve staff on how to deal with issues like this. Let customer know that they are closing the kitchen and see if customer needs anything else.
