"What is it that makes the food here so special? Youthful energy and real talent! This restaurant is housed in MUCA, the Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art, which is the inspiration behind the design of the eponymous mural. The dedicated kitchen team delivers an imaginative set menu with four or five courses - with fish and meat or vegetarian. The produce is almost exclusively sourced from within Bavaria – the absolutely premium-quality trout, for example, is a real treat! Friendly and congenial service, with the chefs also occasionally getting in on the act. An appealingly straightforward take on wine – their wonderful selection includes some interesting natural wines. Tip: Lunch is available from Thurs. to Sat. and brunch on Sundays. The vinotheque is also open in the afternoons from Thursday to Sunday." - Michelin Inspector

We recently dined at this restaurant and chose the four-course lunch menu, hoping for a delightful experience. The meal started with a tomato dish that had a nice blend of flavors, though it was simply tomato and cream cheese. The potato and egg dish was interesting but not something I would choose again. Unfortunately, the chicken main course was not to my taste, and when I informed the waitstaff that I didn't like it and would be skipping it, I expected some consideration on the bill. Dessert was a pleasant note to end on, but my partner’s wine pairing didn’t leave a lasting impression; when asked, he expressed no desire to repurchase any of the wines. At €200 for two, we left feeling that the overall experience was mediocre, especially after I didn’t enjoy the main course. A small adjustment to the check would have been appreciated, given the circumstances. Overall, we expected more and walked away disappointed.

I found the dining experience at this restaurant somewhat underwhelming. The service was mediocre at best. We ordered a four-course meal but were mistakenly served five courses, though we were only charged for four. Additionally, there was a mix-up with the wine service; the waitstaff initially served the neighboring table’s wine to us, which we realized only when our bottle arrived 15-20 minutes after our order. These mishaps left me with the impression that the service team lacked the necessary experience. Despite these issues, the evening was overall pleasant.

Starting with ambiance, it was very rustic industrial look which adds another dimension as far as ambience is concerned. There is no doubt about the food, from starters to wine to main course everything was perfect and was a dance of flavors in the mouth. Had a perfect evening anyone could have asked for. Would love to come back again!!

I'm OBSESSED! Honestly, the food was do beautiful I didn't want to eat it but thankful to have destroyed art to taste perfection. It says 7 courses but I counted around 15 with all the smaller additional bits of food that are included. Worth every penny and the service was impeccable. I never felt rushed or pressured and it was a non pretentious environment. Take all my money! I will be back when I visit Munich again.

The restaurant is located in the city center Munich with creative outside courtyard seating. The served food is of very high quality, extremely tasteful and very creative, you can see and taste the current 1 star Guide Michelin and to be one of the seven (7) best restaurants in Munich. We selected the eight (8) course menu with a recommended sparkling wine (phantastic suggestion). The excellent service, was helpful, knowledgeable and made the difference to other restaurants at this level. A place to visit and to return for more. Well done.

Excellent tasting menu and impressive wine pairings

Nice, but not great. We were really excited about Mural. The concept of a natural wine focused restaurant is always one we look for. But in this instance we found the story didn’t match the delivery. 1) It was expensive - €500+ for 2 with 6 glass wine pairing and glass of local sparkling. 2) The wine paring started after the snacks and we were suggested to take a glass of sparkling wine to start… IMO if you’re paying for a pairing experience the drinks should start immediately. It just looks like you’re trying to up the average spend. A feeling that was confirmed when we found the standard wine pairing doesn’t cover your deserts and that would be another €80 for two. 3) We went that impressed with most of the wine pairings - definitely subjective, but they seem to go for wines that are not made to compete or even harmonise with the food. They were mostly very lean and short wines that seemed to focus on being a palate cleanser rather than a pairing. 4) The vibe was less fun than we had expected. The music was very low - almost not there. The service was nice, but very matter of fact… (perhaps because we speak English rather than German). But it didn’t have a buzz… 5) Dinner was almost 4 hours. From our POV the pacing often dragged. 6) Some dishes were very salty - especially the egg and mushroom dish. Overall if felt like a test kitchen rather than a polished service of refined dishes. That would be fine if the price tag was much better value. I think they have lots of promise, but haven’t found their feet yet.

This has been the best one star fine dining experience we've ever had. Simply wow. We pre-ordered one vegetarian and one pescetarian tasting menue in advance. Extremely creative meals, high quality, regional and seasonal ingredients, wonderfully presented and soo tasty. The staff was super welcoming, friendly and relaxed. We had a fantastic night. You also have to visit the museum prior to having dinner there.

Yelp
I stopped by for a quick lunch, without a reservation. I had asked, and the chef was kind enough to prepare my plates a little faster than usual, since I had to meet schedule at the main train station. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable and the food was very good, especially the sous-vide egg with spinach and potatoes. Unfortunately, the ambience is... different. The restaurant is attached to the Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art and that partially affects the restaurant. The decor is industrial concrete tables, concrete / diamond-coated metal floor with a large custom-designed mural. And despite the extensive lighting, the black ceiling gives off a gloomy feel. And the broken toilet, that leaked onto the towels on the floor, did not improve my experience. But I'll probably stop by again on my next visit to München. I have high hopes. 2025 01 23. M1.

Yelp
This is a joke that this place only has three stars. And the reviews are shameful. The truth is. This is is an inspired menu with a chef who is refining and building in German cuisine. Let's start with the problems. The venue is in a museum and is not perfect. They could move to a more proper restaurant. Staff is fine they could be a bit more refined. Drink menu is limited. Also the pace of the meal is a bit slow. That is why they lose a star. But the food is sublime. Every dish is perfection. The veal stole the show. They certainly deserve a Michelin star. Keep up the good work.
