We came to Muraya for a birthday dinner with high hopes, especially knowing it's owned by El Puro Cubano -- but the entire experience was a huge letdown.
Right from the start, service was a mess. It took over 20 minutes just to get water, which finally came from the manager Alex. That's the only thing he contributed the entire night. No acknowledgment, no effort to address anything that was clearly falling apart, and zero leadership. It felt like no one was in charge.
When the food started coming out, it somehow made things worse. The appetizers were late and underwhelming. The so-called "wagyu" was just tough, chewy flank steak -- completely inedible -- and it was the same quality in the sushi rolls. I've had better meat at a food court. Every bite was a letdown.
Throughout the night, we didn't just sit quietly. We voiced these concerns as they were happening -- multiple times. This wasn't a situation where we waited until the end to complain. And while the servers seemed to understand and were at least empathetic, management clearly didn't care.
Closer to the end, the co-owner Manny did stop by and checked in twice. He offered an apology, and I even told him directly that given this place is backed by El Puro Cubano, it was incredibly disappointing. But even with his acknowledgment, the staff under him showed more sincerity than he did.
Their idea of making it right? A round of free shots -- instead of comping the uneatable food or doing anything that actually respected the customer's experience.
I'm not the type to write reviews, especially bad ones -- but this was too frustrating to ignore. I drove 25 minutes to come here with a reservation, and honestly, even if I lived right next door, I wouldn't come back. If you're looking for a quality experience, skip Muraya and drive to El Puro Cubano instead.
