I went to MurLarkey Distilled Spirits for the first time and had an awesome experience! The service was great 🤩 everyone was super friendly and welcoming. The drinks were really cool and creative. I tried the Test Vodka and absolutely loved the Salsa Vodka 🥃 it literally tastes just like salsa! Such a fun and unique flavor. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!

What a nice place to grab a solid drink. They drinks are super fresh and the samples of their products were great to have in your inventory at home for sure. They are still developing the inside place for a longer stay but you can definitely sample, grab and go.

What an amazing and tasteful experience!!! The staff was so charming, fenomiinal, and sweet! Very knowledgeable about the drinks and farm to table experience. The garnished cherries were the best cherries I've ever had. Presentation of the drinks were beautiful and paired with a perfect side! Absolutely exquisite! Can't wait until they open next to 2Silos in December!

My husband, my brother, and I visited MurLarkey last weekend and had such a great time! We did the tasting and every drink was incredibly smooth definitely some of the best I’ve had.🥂The service made the experience even better; the staff were so friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. You can tell they take pride in what they do. Highly recommend checking them out if you’re looking for amazing drinks and a fun atmosphere!🙂

We did the tasting experience. It was, hands down, the best tasting my wife and I have ever done. They provided five spirits to taste, along with five or six ingredients per spirit. They walked us through adding each ingredient to the base spirit, building up the cocktails. It was the best spirit tasting.

Very cool spot with a unique experience. Murlarkey is a distillery with a tasting room and a cocktail lounge. The lounge area is reservation only which I didn't know heading in. Gives it a real speak easy vibe. I was visiting early and they had an opening at the bar, lucky me. The mixologists were very friendly, definitely felt taken care of. The drink menu is exceptional, really nice options ranging from traditional to eclectic. You are limited to 2 drinks per person per visit because of va liquor laws. They have a larger facility under construction that will include a kitchen, hoping the vibe stays the same.

Another outstanding experience at Murlarkey with some great friends. Jim and Papi always make you feel welcomed. The staff is top notch. Papi is an artist.

Amazing service and incredible drinks! We had a fantastic time with the cocktail experience (2 drinks, ability to try other whiskeys as requested). We would definitely go back. Some of the drinks even go with food pairings!!

Omg I feel bad even writing this because I don't want to expose this gem. Murlarkey's totally slaps. Their model is great, everyone there is so kind and generous. And the drinks are to die for. If they had food it would be lights out but then it would probably ruin the whole vibe they have going.

This place is amazing! 1. Drinks - 4.5 stars The drinks were strong, interesting combinations. Some were amazing and some not so much, but it is very much depends on one's taste, so cannot blame this place. 2. Service: 5 stars Explains how they choose to make the drinks to the recommendations on cocktails based on your interests. Very knowledgeable and professional. 3. Ambience: Not too many tables and intimate, romantic setting. rather dark and reddish inside. 4. Parking: They have their own parking lot and easy to find a spot. As the rating says, 5 stars

I love the atmosphere in this place. Be sure to make a reservation because you can't just walk in generally. The staff gave excellent recommendations on what drinks to try. Great spot for a happy hour.

One of the most interesting whiskey distilleries I have been to. They are not shy in experimentation and have the most interesting and tasty flavor infused whiskies . All staff is friendly and most very knowledgeable of their products.

I showed up to this establishment to do a tasting. Unfortunately, I was refused at the door because I did not have a reservation. Which I completely understand, however, the servicer's attitude behind the bar was not great. I showed up to support a local business in Manassas, and I was rejected at the door. I will definitely be taking my money elsewhere. I would not recommend.

Fantastic venue for our company holiday party. One of the owners Jim was so great to work with, made everything so easy to plan. Everything went flawlessly, the staff is wonderful and the drinks are amazing and creative and ever changing. If you are looking to have a holiday party or any other event I highly recommend Murlarkey!

One Word... "AMAZING!!!" We've been going to local wineries for years (having tried nearly all of VA's 275+ wineries and most all in MD as well), as well as several distilleries, meaderies and even breweries.... This place is hands-down in the top 5 of places we've visited and definitely the BEST when it comes to amazing service and the best distillery! When we went, the theme was "Speakeasy" and that just happens to be one of the themes and places we LOVE to visit! They really did it right... they did it PERFECTLY! Customer service was over-the-top attentive, friendly, helpful and explained so much you might want to know when deciding what to drink, how things are made, etc and they offer all the samples you might want to help you decide! Papi's menu and skills are incredible and he actually loves what he does and really cares how you feel about his amazing work behind the bar, both creating these concoctions and menus and making them for service. In fact, the day we went, they had three separate menus of Papi's drinks and each were loaded with incredibly-designed adult beverages! We met some of the crew, like Kevin, the head distiller and he was more than helpful in explaining their distillation process and even showing us how natural and amazing the process is. Definitely would highly suggest a visit to this distillery. Don't let the "warehouse building" look fool you, this place and what they offer is first class, but with a local, friendly, "down home" approach to providing excellent service. We'll be back, many times!!!!

Accidentally found this place back in the fall when on a winery tour in northern Virginia. What a find! First of all, the staff here is awesome. Just lovely people who adore their jobs serving people fantastic beverages and talking about their process of making spirits. Love love love! I have the worst memory ever, but the two dudes working in the tasting room are awesome! So approachable, nice and happy to answer any and all questions you may have about the distillery or their products/cocktails. Ok... so, if you are not a fan of "flavored whiskey," I get it. I was once like you... now, I'm a believer! Their smokehouse whiskey is my favorite. Rendered fat... bacon whiskey... yeah, it's amazing. You NEED to try it. My second favorite is a tie between their cinnamon whiskey (move aside Fireball, you just got served) and their banana whiskey (yeah, you heard that right, banana). Seriously, guys. You need to try this now. No, I mean it... why haven't you tried it yet?! My boyfriend and I went there on St. Patrick's Day and had a blast. Great specialty cocktails for the occasion and a bagpiper to boot!

After a delicious tasting around Christmas (see my prior review!), I came back a few weeks ago and had another great experience! We tried the Infused Whiskey flight and really enjoyed the banana, cocoa, and coffee whiskey and ended up buying a few bottles. We mixed in coffee whiskey and stout and made some delicious White Russians cocktails at home. There's a lot of different drinks you can make from the flavored whisky. As mentioned in the prior review, there's a nice list of cocktails on the tables that you can order from, but I highly recommend going to the bar and ordering from the weekend specials written on the chalkboard. These cocktails are seasonal and unique. I really enjoyed the mango martini (which was a spin-off of the Spicy Margarita and not listed on the menu, just ask for it!). I was impressed by the bartender's ability to concoct artisanal cocktails. One thing that really caught my eye were these cute barrels with people's names on them. I found out there's a new barrel program in which you can age your own whiskey in a charred oak barrel at MurLarkey. I've seen similar barrel programs at other distilleries which is more of DIY, I like how the one at MurLarkey is personalized with your name and full-service. Very cool! Whether you are a whiskey enthusiast or enjoy a craft cocktail like me, I highly recommend making a visit MurLarkey.

The drinks are incredible and the staff are amazing (especially Ben). They create a friendly and fun environment and help find drinks that fit the person. I highly recommend a stop!!

MurLarkey a hidden gem in Bristow If you ever been to a concert at jiffy lube live or taken a trip to Cabelas, you probably have past by this place and wondered what it is all about . This family run business is an awesome place amd has a cool story behind it and some fun folks running it. This place is where the locals and concert goers who are in the know come here to shoot the shit or hang out after a long day at the office or pregame before a concert. The atmosphere is simple and inviting and the people who run the place are welcoming and love to tell you their story. Stop by and take a tour of the distillery and sip on some whiskey, gin, vodka or any of their other home made libations and sit back and enjoy the company . They have several award winning liqours and several awesome infused whiskey and vodka .. Dont come here looking for fireball ball shots lol they might kick you in your arse lol They do have a cinnamon whiskey but its way better than fireball They have nice whiskeys where you want to sip it neat or turn it until a mule or other cocktails Their whiskey ice tea is a sleeper drink that will get you since its so good Their smoked whisky is one you sip with a good cigar ..... So if you are in the area and want to try out one of the 45 distilleries in VA this one place you must try.

I attended the speakeasy Saturday. Given COBID restrictions, I think they did a great job to make you feel safe. And the cocktails were excellent. There were so many to choose from. You also got to sample the other whiskeys. As a result, I bought their cocoa whiskey for a dessert.

Great tasting option in the garden and they also gave us a tour! We ended up buying a bunch of bottles for the road. Highly recommend the Heritage and the Smokehouse made for some great old fashioned at home too.

The 5 stars is as much for the authentic friendliness as the spirits. The name MurLarkey a combination of the owner's family names, one of whom gave our (very fun and informative) tour. Unlike many other distilleries, their gin uses potatoes instead of grain, which he explained is more in line with their Irish heritage. The tasting includes your choice of 4 of 5 options, including their lemon-infused whisky, white whisky, cinnamon infused whisky, and/or the potatoe vodka or the botantical gin. If you don't like them straight no worries; they have a wonderful assortment of mixers, which I found much more palatable. In fact, they even have an app with lots of recipes. I really like the Cincerity (cinnamon whisky), which at some point will flavor my coffee. But I also liked the Clemency, which went well with club soda and lemonade.

After my visit to KO Distilling, the next stop was at MurLarkey! It was a little after 1:15 pm on a rainy Sunday. I waited at the bar for George - who would be my tour guide. George took me in the back and walked me through their distillation process. It's very different than any of the other Virginia distilleries I have had the pleasure of visiting - in terms of how they are crafting their products. Of course the base process is similar, but what happens after that is very different. You'll need to come in and take the tour to see what I mean! Afterward. I sat at the bar and George walked me through a very unique tasting. We started off with the vodka. I tasted it, then he added a drop of distilled water from a cool little dropper bottle, then had me taste it again. Then he added a single ice cube, and had me taste the vodka again. Then he carved out a little wedge from a lemon (peel and fruit) and added it to the glass, and had me taste the vodka yet again. It was fun and interesting to note the progression of aromas and flavors as we went through this process. We then repeated similar tasting experiments with each of the other spirits - some times varying what was added. They have three "White Whiskeys" - the first being a straight white, and then two flavored Whiskeys - a Lemon and a Cinnamon Whiskey. They make their vodka from potatoes - which is different from most distilleries, which are making grain-based vodkas. I bought a bottle of both their Vodka and their Gin. George was a lot of fun and a wealth of information when it comes to tasting spirits. I can't wait to gather my friends together and bring them in to experience this!

My family and I absolutely loved our visit! The four of us shared two whiskey flights and then had a few drinks and snacks afterward. Their spirits were phenomenal and it was quickly apparent how they've won so many awards. I had the Irish Lemonade (white whiskey, lemonade and muddled basil) which was so refreshing and perfectly balanced. I also recommend the Pepino which had their gin and cucumber juice. We also enjoyed the gouda cheese, roasted red pepper hummus with pretzels and the aged cheddar. The staff was warm and very friendly. We immediately felt like old friends and appreciated how attentive yet relaxed they were. Highly recommend a visit if you're in the area!

10/10 HANDS DOWN. We happened to accidentally stumble across MurLarkey Distillery and were so blown away by everything this place has to offer. The customer service is insanely on point. The owners (3 cousins and other family members) care about every detail from the extensive well thought out cocktail list, to the vast variety of distilled spirits. PS the try the Blackberry Sage smash and the Hazelnut Truffle(pictured). You will not be disappointed. They are knowledgeable yet humble in everything the do. Highly recommend. Will be back. I look forward to coming back with more friends and family in tow.

Great place. We went on a Friday after work with some friends who had been there before. This was a first for my wife and I. One of the owners took his time and guided us through bourbon, gin, and rum drinks that he prefers. It's a small place, but I think that's one of the reason the place has charm. We ended up dropping 150 on the way out getting three bottles of their best stuff. Top quality stuff here folks. They don't cut corners. Fun little place to visit if you have time. Highly recommend this place.

Whiskey was excellent. Service was very complementary. Will go again. Look forward to new location next year

Who doesn't love a good drink? I came here with my boyfriend as my plus one for a Yelp event and I wasn't sure what to expect. This was my first event in VA and I was pleasantly surprised. The bar area had ample seating at the bar, as well as a few booths and table tops to mix and mingle with friends. I've been to many distilleries because I am fascinated with process and love to see the passion in the smaller family owned and operated companies. You can tell they put everything in and want to make it happen and work. If you do, ask them to give you the tour and experience it for yourself. After, get a few drinks at the bar, or buy a few bottles and support a local business! My favorite was the whiskey iced tea I had. It was a Long Island that was smooth, and I only tasted the tea. I loved that it wasn't so sweet!! After a few of those, I know I would not be able to drive! The staff was very helpful and answered all our questions. I would love to come back on my own and experience it again.

I visited MurLarkey Distilled Spirits for a tasting and a tour for an event and was definitely (and surprisingly) impressed. I'm someone who likes to drink but hates the taste of liquor which means I was kinda nervous for the tasting. (Nothing brings back bad/college/possible blackout memories like clear liquor) Close to Jiffy Lube Live, but kind of in the middle of nowhere, MurLarkey Distilled Spirits is a world of its own in Bristow. The ambience inside is warm and welcoming and especially after meeting the owners, my nerves were calmed a bit. Gotta love a family and close friend-owned business with a wonderful story plus some award-winning liquor to boot. I learned quite a bit about whiskey as far as the different types of it and how it gets that typical dark color. I also thoroughly enjoyed actually being able to taste and appreciate the liquors as they were presented keeping in mind to note the different flavors/ingredients that each one was fused with. For my tasting, i sampled Divine Clarity (award-winning Potato Vodka -Gold btw), Justice (White Whiskey), Clemoncy (Lemon Whiskey), Cincerity (Cinnamon Whiskey) and Imagination (Gin). We were instructed to take a sip of each one - room temperature as they were sitting in our cups. And then they plopped an ice cube in each which changed the flavor and the way it slid down your throat. My favorite part came next when they transformed the liquors one more time into some of their popular cocktails - such a smart way to deliver a tasting. The Potato Vodka turned into my favorite Moscow Mule with just a little Ginger Beer and a lime, the Lemon Whiskey into a Margarita. Another standout was the Cincerity - I DESPISE Fireball. Call me an old lady because I know the kids love it, but this always gets a hard pass from me. Murlarkey's Cinnamon Whiskey was actually pretty good on the first room temp sip. Not too harsh or spicy cinnamon. And when they added Cream Soda to it - Amazing! It tasted like a Cinnabon. Creamy, candy cinnamon. So good. Special shout out to their Imagination Gin. I'm used to gin tasting like pine trees, but theirs tasted like a garden of flowers in the spring - in my mouth. A really nice surprise. Truly a great overall experience here from the drinks to the people. I will certainly be back.

I have driven past this place more than a dozen times and never thought twice about it. Today we made a point to stop by and oh boy do I wish I would have stopped by the first time I had driven past. Not only were the cocktails AMAZING, but the level of service we received was far beyond expectation (which seems to be very rare lately!). Each and every one of the SIX team members we came in contact with were so incredibly personable and went out of their way to ensure we had a fantastic experience. We will be back again and again and again. We can't stop telling everyone we know about the incredible experience we had. Way to go MurLarkey!!

Had a great experience here. Janet was very attentive and explained how everything worked. Tried all this MurLarkey and had a blast doing it. You will see from the pictures what I chose. Like with anything I had my favorites and I had some I probably wouldn't indulge in again, however they have all selections to encompass all the different pallets out there. Don't ask for round ball ice cubes and all that MurLarkey or 1 ice cube with a drop of water. This is not the place. By far my favorite is the smokehouse aged whiskey which tastes like bbq, meat and love in a bottle. Would go great with a dry aged steak or burger or a flute of beef bone marrow followed up by a marrow flute slide. Come here you will be happy you did.

A pleasant little surprise tucked away in an industrial park in Bristow, VA. Pretty close to the Jiffy Lube pavilion. I was Anne O'Hara's plus one to a YELP event, which was, frankly, the best of Yelp event I've been to yet (so kudos to Gretchen Fox and the fellers running this place for a great evening). Murlarkey's is a family owned distillery that opened in 2014. They produce small batch whiskeys, gin and vodka. They tend to specialize in flavored whiskeys produced with natural ingredients. I've always found that a little dubious (some of the "flavored" whiskeys out there from the big boys use a lot of chemicals and sugar to impart flavor, these guys don't). I have to say, I was floored by how good it is-- and I'm not much of a drinker normally. I recommend "Clemoncy", which is a Lemon peel infusion corn whiskey. Wowsa, folks. Try a Moscow mule made with these ingredients. Astonishing. I bought a bottle. The event itself was catered by a local eatery and specialized in Mediterranean fare, mostly hummus, babagenoush, pita bread and veggies. There were two shifts of guided tours led by one of the owners. The staff is small, family led and very humorous and knowledgeable. This was a big selling point for me. They were friendly, unpretentious and very informative in an amusing way. I enjoyed my visit, and I'm going to enjoy making another Moscow Mule with my brand new bottle of Clemoncy.

Wonderful first visit. The infused whiskeys are a treat to the senses. Everyone is knowledgeable and wants to educate you on the process and flavors. If you get a chance try the banana infused whiskey.....very tasty. Would also recommend the Purple Rain.

You won't find better customer service or more creative drinks anywhere! My husband and I came out for a tour and tried several drinks. We loved every one! Tom, Mark, Pop, Jessie and Sterling work hard to bring quality and fun to this unique bar experience.

What a great and fun, fun, place! Go visit, it will definitely lift your spirits! Among the exceptional whiskeys, the vodka and gin are superb, the flavors so unique. George has great imagination and talent. He is a true artist, creating delicious cocktails with many subtle touches of various natural ingredients, herbs, fruits.... like a great impressionist painter, with his multicolored palette, can create a beautiful picture! The tasting room is tastefully decorated, the atmosphere warm, welcoming and friendly. The distillery tour very interesting and Jesse, Master Distiller, is wonderful! A great outing that will make you smile big! Highly recommended!

Here for a Yelp event: Interior: great ambiance, music isn't too loud, lights dimmed just enough, not too cold not too hot. On point. Tastings: 1- "Clemoncy Lemon Whisky" + Lemonade: DANGEROUS. It tastes nothing like 80 proof liquor, in fact you can't even taste it period. None of the "the alcohol is on the bottom", just tastes like a nice lemonade all the way through....cept...there's a bunch of 80 proof whiskey in it... 2- "Cincerity cinnamon whiskey" + cream soda: ....not sure how this magic works but it tastes like a cinabun..... 3- "Imagination gin" + tonic: not the hugest fan of gin so..but I can keep it down so I'd say it's good? **edit: they put this grapefruit thing in and now it tastes amazing 4- "Divine clarity" + ginger beer: the vodka itself is distilled 16 times apparently... potato vodka, sweeter finish. SO SMOOTH 5- "Justice white whiskey" + sour mix: tastes just like a margarita but you don't need the salt or the lime TLDR; favorite is definitely the Lemon Whiskey + lemonade. Get it. Go. Now.

This place is amazing! Papi is the best! Every time we go it's a blast and service and drinks are literally the best in the DMV area bar none.

I've driven by this place a few times while visiting Mom in Gainesville. Finally stopped in with my husband. What a complete treat! We spent a good hour plus with Janet who educated us and treated our tastebuds to their vodka, gin and whiskeys. What I loved the most is that she showed us some really great cocktails with each tasting. Couldn't wait to get back and tell Mom about this place. Will definitely go back and try some of the craft cocktails. Super fun!

I was first introduced to MurLarkey at a yelp elite event where we got to meet the owners, distillers, and take a tour of the facility while getting to try all of their delicious spirits. I've always been a fan, and have purchased many bottles of Clemoncy (now labeled lemon whiskey). I get email blasts from them and found out what they're doing to help fight corona virus: distill hand sanitizer. Not only are they giving the stuff out for free, but they're donating it to health care workers too. On distribution days they have roll up distribution. We bought four bottles online and they just popped it in the trunk for us no questions asked and minimal contact. I love their alcohol, their work ethic, and what they stand for. If delicious alcohol isn't enough to sell you on this place, their philanthropy SHOULD. Consider coming to visit when this is all said and done.

The customer service was so awesome. It's very small business like and personable. Everyone there was so nice and the tastings were great. I am not really a drinker, but I enjoyed taking small sips here and there because they would make such great mixes for you. Our mixology/tour guy was so well versed and knowledgeable. I really loved the experience. They take their time with you and just treat you like family. I did not feel discriminated, misplaced, etc... it was such a beautiful experience. The personable and friendly ambience is such a wonderful change of pace from typical DC life. It's totally worth a visit.

The whiskies and cocktails are great but watching them make the drinks is even better. Every drink is handcrafted and presents very nice. I was however disappointed that I could not bring my family that was visiting due to them not having any availability for the day. Lesson learned on my part to make reservations early

My fiancee and I stopped in during a trip to see a concert at Jiffy Lube Live. We greatly enjoyed the cocktails, but what really stood out was the service. Jim did an excellent job taking care of us. He made us feel welcome and was very warm and friendly. He even figured out which concert was on the night before and asked us about it! We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area.

Really love their flavor infused whiskey that makes great cocktails without adding a ton of sugar. My favorite flavors are coffee and banana. vABC isn't carrying them anymore so I have to make the trip out to their distillery. I hope they renew/expand their contract soon!

This place treats you like family. They are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about their products. What makes this place really standout is the presentation of the tasting. First you sip it straight, then on the rocks and then as a mixed drink (spritzer, cucumber or drops of water) so that one can see how the taste evolves. Phenomenal! We ordered for our tasting, a flight of 6 (gin, honey whiskey, cinnamon whiskey, heritage, smokehouse and brutality.) We enjoyed every single one of them. Now I want to come back to try more.

The staff was very friendly and extremely knowledgable. The flight of whiskeys was a great way to try a little bit of everything. I definitely had a few favorites. All in all, it's a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with friends.

This place is pretty cool. The atmosphere is laidback and friendly. The owners love seeing their regulars and meeting new people. If you get a flight it's a good way to try new liquors. They bring your flight to try a sip then they make small cocktails to get more of a feel and taste for it. They make everything from ingredients they grow or get locally. When I went yesterday they had a food truck there too. They make fun cocktails that are delicious and even nice to look at.

Amazing and comforting place. Waitress/bartender was very knowledgeable. We loved our flight and 2 cocktails. Thanks to the distillers for letting me taste smokehouse from the barrel. Would go back there a million times and order the Bloody Mary a thousand times over. Glad we took home a bottle of smokehouse for bloody's at home!

Hidden gem you need to visit if you have any interest in local spirits; aka, vodka, gin or whisky. Husband and wife owners were in the tasting room and their knowledge is mind blowing. The product speaks for itself, unique and masterful! Limited hours, call them they will make exceptions for groups.

Went for a tasting a couple months ago and was so glad to discover this Incredibly welcoming distillery crafting excellent spirits and delicious cocktails. The tasting was fun and informative, and the cocktails are killer. Highly recommend the Clemonade from their standard rotation. On my second visit was welcomed back warmly, and my family is greeted with handshakes and hugs whenever we stop in. Great family business, family-friendly (they make a great Shirley Temple for the kids) with a fun atmosphere. Cannot recommend highly enough!
