"Murphy’s Ice Cream doesn't rely on time-saving tricks or molecular cooling methods to make its goodies. This beloved ice cream shop, a staple in town since 2000, does things simply and oh-so well. That means using the highest quality local milk and local cream, free-range eggs, organic sugar, and even making salt from seawater." - Travel + Leisure Editors

6.50 for single scoop, 9.50 for triple scoop. 10.00 for 500mL tub. Cone or cup option. Very friendly staff. Small seating area. Enjoy the local ice cream and relax! Yum!

Google
Brilliant place to have some delicious and local made ice-cream. Made in dingle and this franchise is an absolute gem. Tried 2 scoops of butterscotch and chocolate. Both were fantastic and creamy in texture.

Daria Lagovska

Google
Definitely one of the best ice creams I’ve ever tried out. Dingle sea salt taste is wow, soft, tender and creamy

Gina Marie

Google
Service was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a good variety of unique flavors, which I appreciated. That said, the taste and texture of the ice cream were just average, and the portion size felt small for the price. I was really looking forward to trying Murphy’s while visiting Ireland, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype or cost.

Melissa Bard

Google
Came in for a pre-dinner sweet treat. The staff were super friendly and welcoming upon walking in the door. We enjoyed plenty of samples and ultimately decided on a small cone of Kieran’s cookies and strawberry. The ice cream was delicious and refreshing.

Google
Must try! They have the best ice cream. Very nice staff who gave us suggestions about the best combinations. Loved the salt flavored ice cream! The chocolate whiskey flavor was also really good.

Murphy's Ice Cream in Dingle is renowned for its handcrafted, artisanal ice cream made from local, high-quality ingredients. With inventive flavors such as Dingle Sea Salt, Irish Brown Bread, and caramelized brown sugar, each scoop offers a taste of Ireland's rich culinary heritage. The friendly atmosphere and commitment to quality make it a must-visit for tourists seeking a delicious, authentic experience.

Google
We loved Murphys so much, we went 3 times in our week in Ireland! Twice in Dingle and once in Cork. In my opinion, the best flavor combo is butterscotch and Dingle sea salt. But do your own research!!

John H.

Yelp
Wonderful local ice cream spot in Dingle. The brown bread ice cream was tasty - not too sweet but still so rich and creamy. Note the brown bread chunks do add a chewy texture so that may throw folks off. I didn't mind it. The service was quick and friendly and so definitely worth a visit.

Carla M.

Yelp
Simply the best ice cream with the most unique and delicious flavors I have ever had in my life!

Ann L.

Yelp
We were outside looking at the board listing all the interesting flavors and a friendly person working there came out to let us know we could get more than one flavor in any size and could try anything we wanted to sample. Sold! I went with the brown bread and chocolate whiskey flavors in a small cone and both were delicious. The brown bread flavor has crunchy bits of brown bread which was a wonderful addition. Others in my group enjoyed the lemon curd, mango, sea salt and smooth chocolate flavors. This is excellent, high quality ice cream that is worth every penny. They make the ice cream right in town and have a video running in the shop showing the production. Maybe someday they'll do tours! I would be into that if they ever decided to offer them. They do have some seating which was nice so we could relax and enjoy our ice cream rather than walk with it. Do not miss this locally made treat if you're in Dingle!

Lisa H.

Yelp
We had heard great things about Murphy's before our trip to Ireland. When I tell you that we had ice cream at LEAST once per day (if not twice) for the 4 days we were in Dingle...I am telling you the truth. It is THAT good. Murphy's has several unique flavors, and we sampled them ALL. Our favorites though, that we came back to again and again were the Irish brown bread and the Dingle gin and pink peppercorn. We've been back in the states for 5 months and I'm still dreaming of this ice cream. Murphy's please please PLEASE ship to the US!!!

Monica L.

Yelp
Maybe some of their other flavors are better, but the smooth chocolate was very underwhelming. I probably wouldn't go back.

Leilani G.

Yelp
After finding out about Murphy's Ice Cream it was one of the things I anticipated visiting most while in Ireland. Let me tell you, it is an Ireland MUST. The first location we visited was in the Dingle, where Murphy's originates. When we walked in the staff were extremely friendly, and proceeded to offer us some samples so that we could narrow down our flavor choices. I ending up with Dingle Sea Salt and Kieran's Cookies in a cone and my partner did the same. I was skeptical at first about the Dingle Sea Salt flavor but I figured, when in Dingle, you must try it. This was seriously the best ice cream ever! It was so creamy, delicious, and flavorful and I truly think Dingle Sea Salt is the best flavor of ice cream ever. It was so good that we almost went back for seconds before leaving Dingle that same day. The good news is that they have locations elsewhere, in Dublin, Galway, Killarney and a few others. We ended up getting Murphy's again in Galway a few days later despite the cold weather, because it was that good. I love Murphy's Ice Cream!

Quentin P.

Yelp
Family and I stopped in for ice cream around 1:20 in the afternoon and no waiting, staff was super-friendly and helpful. Had a few samples of different flavors, then decided on a 2 scoop cone. Checkout was easy and could pay with credit card. Got a honeycomb caramel, and sea salt. Excellent! Really fresh, sharp natural flavors. Hard to say I've had ice cream this good in awhile. Cone was excellent too. Service pushed them to 5 star. Definitely recommend and would return! Dingle is a cute town, you should go. Sorry, ate ice cream before could remember to get photos : (

Christa H.

Yelp
The brown bread ice cream lives up to the hype! Worth traveling to! It's a small space but right on the water. The perfect place to have a view and ice cream

R R.

Yelp
Try the sea salt ice cream. Perfect mix of sweet and salty. The Irish brown bread is also excellent.

Jessica G.

Yelp
The best I e cream I have ever had and ice is a good group to our family!! Lol!! So good that I have been back two days in a row cause I wanna try them all out! Love the sea salt and the brown bread on a ton!!!

Ralph A.

Yelp
Ice Cream lover Dingle MUST STOP! Incredible local made ice cream with yummy flavors. Made with Irelands luscious dairy and other delicious Irish ingredients

Steven T.

Yelp
Great ice cream, try the chocolate whiskey and the brown bread. Super yummy, great service, so why only 4 stars you might ask. Because eating ice cream in Dingle you NEED to have a flavor called Dingleberry. Vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips and some fudge swirls. Come on people, you need Dingleberry and you will get 5 stars from me.

Shunda B.

Yelp
So I wasn't aware this is popular spot until my friend told me she read about this place - omg the flavors were so good and you're able to try samples which all mine include alcohol. (Don't judge me!) I will stay - the employees were super friendly and even chatted with us then no one was in line. We were lucky because since tourist season was calming down a little - we were able to sit and relax inside with arm room. If I ever come back - yes i'll will be back to try new samples. Happy Eating!!!

Kerry K.

Yelp
Ice cream was good, although the flavor selection was limited. Prices seemed a bit high for what you get. Employees were courteous and service was good.

Julie C.

Yelp
Creamy and delicious ice cream with friendly service. I only wish their were more flavors offered.

Jason M.

Yelp
This epitomizes what an ice cream shop should be. The service was friendly and they genuinely wanted to please their customers. Our daughter 'earned' a free scoop by dancing to their upbeat music. The server offered plenty of samples and wanted us to find the 'perfect' flavors. Their prices are high. But, you get what you pay for in terms of very tasty ice cream made with quality ingredients. We visited twice and didn't find a bad flavor.

Mark J.

Yelp
Very friendly staff offering free samples/tastings Ice green was good but maybe just didn't live up to the hype. Very pricey. But definitely have to try it on a visit to Ireland

Sherry R.

Yelp
Hands down, the best ice cream I've had. A lot of thought and time went into each flavor. The service was great. She was very helpful and engaging.

Cassie P.

Yelp
This ice cream is so delicious! We stopped over in Dingle for a few hours after exploring the Dingle Peninsula and starred this place after reading so many reviews on it. Their flavors were unique yet simple. I ended up going with their well known Sea Salt caramel. The ice cream was so creamy and was a great balance between both sweet and salty. Sometimes I don't gravitate to this flavor right away because some places cant get the ratio right for me, but Murphy's somehow has it spot on. Their flavors change by the season and they do also have sorbet flavors that are made with distilled rain water. We found out that they've expanded to other parts of Ireland: Killarney, Dublin, and Galway I believe. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a sweet treat during your Irish adventures!

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
We spent the day on the Dingle peninsula and read great things about this ice cream shop. We stopped we were in Dingle which was a very cute town. Strangely, there are two of the same ice cream shop within a two minute walk of each other on the same street in Dingle. We stopped at the first one and then saw a second one. They were very friendly and let us sample several different flavors before we decided what to get. I decided to get the dreamy creamy caramel which was delicious. My parents loved what they got as well. The one we stopped at was small with no seats, but the one down the street was a bit bigger and had some seating. This is definitely worth stopping for in Dingle! There are also shops in Dublin, Killarney, and Galway.

Nina S.

Yelp
Not only was the ice cream top notch, the service was beyond kind and friendly. The fresh Irish strawberry ice cream is creamy, not too sweet, and perfectly full of pieces of fresh strawberry. I would eat hear everyday if I lived in Ireland!

WD S.

Yelp
My wife loved the sea salt which is very simply made with cream and sea salt. I enjoyed the bourbon chocolate. It was good but I live in Blue Bell country and we like our Ice cream. I will try another bite tonight to make sure I gave it a fair review. It is good don't get me wrong. I just like a bit more flavor than the vanilla based sea salt

T A.

Yelp
Made from fresh farm milk, lots of local cream, free range eggs, and organic sugar, Murphy's is a taste of Irish heaven. Sample any or all of the flavors before you make your final choice. With creative flavors like Dingle Sea Salt, Chocolate Whiskey, Lemon Curd and Blackberry Sorbet, don't you want to eat dessert first?

Ed U.

Yelp
Unlike my first visit to Murphy's in Dublin, I didn't simply stumble across this quaint ice cream shop in Dingle. As Jamie W. and I were strolling the quiet streets after dark, we made a beeline when I recognized the name (photo: http://bit.ly/2gCWecL). I had tried their ice cream four years earlier and really loved the creamy texture and soothing flavor from the first lick. We had just finished a gluttonous seafood dinner down the road at The Boatyard, but something sweet sounded like the right finale to a long day of driving from Kilkenny. Unlike the tiny shop on Wicklow Street in Dublin, there were actual tables and chairs in this shop. That was a good thing since there was little else to do in Dingle at night except get rowdy and drunk at a pub or be a travel wimp and go back to the hotel. Despite the presence of sixteen alluring flavors, I knew exactly what I wanted, a scoop of Dingle Sea Salt, a custard-based ice cream mixed with salt found in the kelp along the nearby shore. The kelp is boiled down, so that the liquid lends a briny quality to the rich vanilla flavor. I had the young server add a scoop of Irish Coffee for good measure. The resulting medium cup was just €6.50 of lactose-saturated pleasure (photo: http://bit.ly/2fLfzL0). Jamie also had the Dingle Sea Salt but added a daily special, Dreamy Creamy Caramel, to add some extra sweetness to his cup (photo: http://bit.ly/2grcAFV). Meanwhile, I was sharing with the server how I dreamed about having this ice cream again, and he told us he was quitting his job to go backpacking for six months. I guess we all have different dreams. Mine always have way too many calories. ICE CREAM - 5 stars...still among the best ice cream I've tasted and I've licked quite a few scoops around the world AMBIANCE - 4 stars...charming little shop fits Dingle like a glove SERVICE - 4 stars...the server chatted us up like we were sharing pints TOTAL - 5 stars...unbeatable ice cream and order the Dingle Sea Salt...you'll thank me later

Yelp
After reading all of the wonderful reviews for Murphy's Ice Cream we put a stop on our agenda. Their ice cream is handmade in Dingle using only fresh ingredients. Murphy's Ice Cream started in 2000. They have an additional location in Killarney but we wanted to visit the original location. Since it was off season we walked right in and received fantastic service. The ice cream is rich and creamy. They only use eggs, cream, milk and pure cane sugar. All of the flavors are from natural ingredients. They say that the secret behind their delicious ice cream is that it is made from the milk of the Kerry cows. We sampled many of the flavors and I decided on Irish Coffee. It was delicious and had a pleasant strong whiskey taste. I had her put it in a cup but I heard that the cones are a delicious treat by themselves. Caramel Honeycomb was also very good. It has a light caramel flavor and is very popular.

Jessica A.

Yelp
Great service, super friendly, nice place to take a rest, cute interior, and crazy tasty.

Megan W.

Yelp
I first saw Murphy's when we were in Dublin but when I saw "Handmade in Dingle", I knew I had to wait to get it when I was in Dingle. (Several locations - Dublin, Killarney, Kilkenny, Galway!) I love a business that is local - they use milk from local cows, sorbets from their distilled Dingle rain, make their own salt, the list goes on. They also have infused ice cream from the gin they make in Dingle (check out my review for Dingle Distillery). The staff was cheery and wonderful and offered samples of flavors. I chose a chocolate brownie concoction and it was the creamiest ice cream I've ever had. I wanted more!

Mark F.

Yelp
Nice little ice cream shop, very friendly staff at this location and Kilkenny location as well. About 14 or so really tasty flavors but the two that I thought were knock'em out of the park good was the buttermilk and the dingle sea salt. yummmmmmm. I don't care for real buttermilk (out of a glass) but I could swim in this stuff, it is very, very good. We're halfway though our Ireland trip but I think I'm telling google to plot my next directions to a Murphy's in the next area we visit. It was that good for me!

Jayne D.

Yelp
I have to agree with Conde Naste Traveller, this must be one of the best ice cream shops in the world! I had the Dreamy Creamy Caramel and it was perfection. The freshness really shines though! Hubby had Strawberry Seabeeeze which he also thoroughly enjoyed. Kids enjoyed the honeycomb caramel. Just arrived in Ireland today. Pretty sure we'll be stopping in again tomorrow while still in Dingle. Was happy to hear they have other locations so we may just end up popping in one of them later in the week. Staff was super friendly and they asked if we'd like to sample flavors.

Elisabeth C.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and get to Murphy's as soon as you can! This ice cream was absolutely amazing! We got a cup at the start of the Dingle Peninsula and loved it so much we came back for more. I haven't had a thing there I haven't enjoyed. My favorites to mix and match include Honeycomb Caramel, Brown Bread, & Apple Balsamic. Don't knock the weird flavors until you try them, and you can try as many as you'd like before buying!

Jennifer P.

Yelp
We're in Dingle for part of our holiday, and stopped by Murphy's for an after dinner treat! The workers were friendly and funny: standing outside offering samples, and joking "I hope you're not driving!" when Mom ordered an Irish Coffee scoop. I had the cookies and chocolate flavors. They were delicious, creamy, and not too sweet! It's a bit different than typical American ice cream, and I'm a fan!

Shannon N.

Yelp
Hands down the best ice cream I have had! If you visit Ireland you must go to Murphy's. I had brown bread ice cream which may sound strange but it is a must try! It is incredibly delicious and I love how the chunks of brown bread add texture to the creamy ice cream. I went twice on my stay and now dream about that delicious ice cream.

Michelle M.

Yelp
Murphy's Ice Cream is simply amazing! This handmade ice cream is made naturally and locally in Ireland with high quality ingredients such as cream from local Kerry cows, sea salt from Dingle sea water, free range eggs, and organic sugar. The result is some of the best ice cream I have ever tasted! There were about a dozen flavors to choose from ranging from your typical chocolate and anilla to more exotic options such as caramel honeycomb or Dingle Sea Salt. I wanted to order a flavor that I would not be able to purchase in the U.S. so I ordered a scoop of the "aran donn" (Caramelized Brown Bread) and a scoop of "risini" (Real Rum Raisin). Ok... I know I can get rum raisin in the U.S., but I needed something to pair with my caramelized brown bread ice cream and this was some of the best rum raisin ice cream! The Caramelized Brown Bread ice cream was so unique because it had chunks of brown bread mixed in the ice cream which created one of a kind texture. I have never had anything like this in my life! Until I get the chance to visit Ireland again I will daydream about the heavenly Caramelized Brown Bread ice cream at Murphy's!

Jessica P.

Yelp
ohhhhhh - sea salt ice cream hits the spot! You must stop in and grab a little container to accompany you on your walk down thru this little town! They also sometimes have live music, which is really cool!

J M.

Yelp
Seriously, this ice cream was amazing. I ordered the brown bread + dingle sea salt flavor. Couldn't quite describe the brown bread flavor, but I loved it. My husband ordered strawberry and said it was very good too. I read about Murphy's brown bread ice cream before visiting Ireland, and I'd agree that it's a must!

Courtney L.

Yelp
Yum! As we strolled along the streets of Dingle we stumbled on this little ice cream spot and came to realize they had won many awards so we had to try it out. The sea salt ice cream they make at this location is made with the ocean water right outside their door! They boil it down to just get the salt and make a mighty fine sea salt ice cream. I also enjoyed the ice cream container that was made out of wood! The ice cream shop had a couple cute photo opportunities set up. The patio is surprisingly large and features their signature blue on the walls. If you're feeling like a sweet treat, definitely enjoy some ice cream from Murphy's.

Chun P.

Yelp
Good ice cream, but very very expensive. We shared a medium Bailey's Irish Cream and Coffee...5.80euro/$8! Its good, but 6 months ago I was eating medium sized Gelato in Italy for only 3euro...but thats not a completely fair comparison I suppose.

Kelly M.

Yelp
I had my doubts that this claimed to be the best in the world but honestly both of my flavors were ridiculously good. Texture and density of the ice cream is so perfect. My butterscotch was just scrumptious indescribable actually. The honeycomb was heavenly and Dads Irish Cream was bowl licking to the last drop. We almost missed this because one of the locations was being painted but we saw the other one open and I am so glad we got to check it out! Workers are happy, customers are happy, Me? So sad I live far away.....

Mark J.

Yelp
Yes and Yes. My wife and I are low carb but we had to have a taste. When you walk in, they give you samples to try of their wonderful creations. We ended up getting Gin, Butterscotch, Sea Salt, and Chocolate. They were all wonderful. A very nice treat before driving back to our Airbnb from Dingle.

Liz L.

Yelp
On a recent trip to Ireland, my husband and I visited Murphy's for ice cream. Murphy's has more than one location in Ireland, but the one in Dingle is the original! There is definitely something special about experiencing delicious foods where they first started. Dingle is a quaint, charming city and Murphy's Ice cream fit naturally and added to the endearing vibe of the city. The staff at Murphy's was patient and friendly. They gave us samples of interesting flavors and described the flavors we didn't sample. My husband and I ordered raspberry sorbet, chocolate, and coffee. I wish the scoops were bigger! It was the creamiest ice cream we have ever experienced!! Def worth a stop when you're in town and have a sweet tooth.

Kanchan B.

Yelp
I am an absolute fan of Murphy's and in my opinion it's the best ice-cream alongside Movenpick in Switzerland! However it can get a wee bit expensive @ €10 for 500ml!! So I got the Sticky Toffee special for €6.50 and instead of two scoops of brown butter, the server instead upon my request substituted the Dingle Gin ice-cream instead. I really savored the taste and texture and cant wait to go back - have the flavours already picked out too (honey and lavender in case anyone is curious). Note: #254 of Yelp 100 challenge for 2016

Paul J.

Yelp
Sea salt is the most popular flavour. They after cone cups and cones all sorts of Sundays with caramel drizzle or cookies inside of the ice cream. I had sea salt and chocolate together and it was ok. Not amazing, not world-famous, but good ice cream that was pricey. Like you are on holiday at a seaside town. Lol.

Candy C.

Yelp
Holy Molly Murphy Holy. This is by far the best ice cream I've ever have. Lord had mercy, please open one soon like this in the state. I soon to realize the country of Ireland is famous for its dairy product after seeing so many cows during my road trip. Happy cows = good milk = excellent ice cream. Simple equation. I tried four flavors. And here are my list of dreams: Irish Coffee: strong Irish coffee with transitional whisky blend into the famous ice cream. Probably the best coffee ice cream ever. Caramelized Brown Bread: I couldn't stop laughing when I taste this one cuz it tastes exactly like the brown bread except it's sweet. Definitely should give it a try. Lavender Flower + Dingle Gin: my bartender friend orders this one. He said this will taste like lavender gin in a cone which I totally agree. Atlantic Sea Salt & Butterscotch: also two popular favors. I just wish I can order another cup, but I only have one stomach.

Nicole A.

Yelp
WOW WOW WOW This ice cream and service was so on point. They give you samples as you walk through the open doors. Happy people that work there. The ice cream, wow. What to say. It's PERFECTION. Creamy, fresh, exquisite. I basically enjoyed it more than the gelato in Italy. What an incredible spot. Loved!!!!

Colleen C.

Yelp
An Irish Coffee ice cream topped with Sea Salt ice cream in a waffle cone, whilst enjoying a stroll through utterly lovely Dingle on a Sunday afternoon? I mean. As if things couldn't get any better...the Irish Coffee ice cream has real whiskey in it. And, it's incredibly good. This stuff is made with milk from real Kerry cows, which the sign says are rarer than a Giant Panda. I'll take their word for it. The ice cream is damn good. Also, hats off to the staff. Super friendly, outgoing, helpful and sweet. They may be teens, but nary a whiff of angst that usually goes along with working at an ice cream shop in the summer. Well done, well done. Really impressive. A worthwhile stop -- !

Krista W.

Yelp
Had the dingle sea salt and honey crisp caramel, went back later for chocolate and something else, my friends loved both the strawberry and brown bread. Staff were super pleasant. Loved the ice cream and would have brought a ton home if I could have.

Katie B.

Yelp
Super friendly service and delicious ice cream! I got baileys and dingle sea salt together which I highly recommend. It's open until 10PM every night and they let you sample as much as you want. The woman even sat down and talked with us about the United States.

Stephanie T.

Yelp
I didn't have any intentions of seeking out ice cream in Ireland, but the flavors intrigued me. My husband and I stopped in between dinner and pub crawling. He got the chocolate sorbet since he's dairy free, and it was terrific. The rich chocolate flavor was sweet and complex. It manages to be creamy without the dairy. I veered towards the Dingle gin (having just been to the distillery) and caramelized brown bread. It was a brilliant combo! The gin flavor was a knockout and tasted just like the gin itself. The brown bread provided a light toasty flavor and added a nice texture. It's a must do in Dingle.

Gilad S.

Yelp
After trying their ice cream first in Dublin and then at another town, we knew that we had to get to their real store. Eating here is an experience: Perhaps licking the ice cream at Murphy's should be added to a top 5 list of things to do in the country along with walking the Cliffs of Moher and kissing the Blarney Stone. While waiting in line, we were approached with employees asking us if we want any samples, constantly returning to ask if we wanted anything else to try. The ice cream was thick, not too sweet, and with an explosion of flavour in every bite. What is more, the place is tastefully decorated and the flavours are creative.
