Austin Bar Nickel City Opens New Patio Bar Half Moon | Eater Austin
"I noticed the New York City–styled Murray’s Tavern opened in December 2023, taking over the indoor space of the closed sandwich shop and bar Gourmands; it’s run by co-partners Travis Tober and Nic Yanes with managing partner Brett Esler and sits adjacent to the new Half Moon patio." - Nadia Chaudhury

"A very new neighborhood tavern that reviewers imagine as a prime spot for classic late-night fare and cocktails, with prime rib and Rob Roys cited as likely highlights." - Erin Russell

classic dive bar, mature crowd 40+, dress code is work attire. Pro: local history is plastered on the ceiling to look at, friendly patrons and funny regulars Con: no entertainment eg games, music etc. unclear parking the adjoining lot is apparently not for the bar and you'll get towed?

Overall a great bar, great atmosphere! The bartenders love pouring “Mud Bombs” . If you like to be serenaded by music just play One in a Million you by larry graham on the jukebox and sit back and enjoy the show. If you’re even luckier play I wanna Know by Joe and some bearded guy with salmon shorts and a flamingo button down will sing you sweet little nothings in your ear, may even compliment you!

Nice little lounge, friendly patrons. Prices are fair. There's a back door that leads to a fenced in picnic area where you can take your drinks and have a smoke. I like it.

We stopped in here for a 21st Birthday Bar crawl. It was jam packed and everyone appeared to be having a good time. Not my first choice for a bar but it will do.

Looking for a place to watch the Notre Dame game. We spotted this place on our way by. Stopped in and ordered a Blue Moon draft and a bottle of Blue. Not only deprived of an orange slice for that Blue moon but the bartender charged me $10. 10 bucks for a draft moon and a bottle of Blue is absurd. Customer service wasnt really up to par. Finished our drinks and went to Hutches, where a Jack and coke and a Crown Apple on the rocks was $9. Will not be stopping into Murrays again.

This is the best place for steak and lobster in the Greater Buffalo metropolis. $15 and all you can eat. You can’t beat that. The bartender Tristan is amazing. He’s known for two things and I suggest you ask for both - his famous pineapple Mai Tai’s and his jokes. Man, Tristan has some kneeslappers. If you catch him on the right Friday night he’ll bring out his banjo to do a couple of Bruno Mars covers. Better get there early though. It fills up fast. Only downside is the local drunk in the plaid shorts and Hollister shirt. Don’t give him any chips. He will come back for more.

Yelp
If you see the Marray's Tavern from the outide, you probably have a pretty good idea of what you're getting. It's a cash-only dive bar with cheap prices and a crowd of local regulars who might engage you in some Bills talk if you seem approachable. I was a fly on the wall there for an hour or two and caught tales of the previous night's brawl (as one would hope happens in working-class taverns of the old school) and chatted with the friendly bartender about this and that. Everyone knows everyone else. There's a jukebox to provide entertainment not supplied by copious amounts of alcohol. The place looks like it was last renovated around 1982, but that's not why you were here, now is it?
Do a shot and have fun.
Parking is on-street.

Yelp
When I was "underaged" and this place was the Holiday House, I practically lived here.
Although I have been here 2ce since it has become Murray's, tonight felt more at home .
I played lots of songs on the jukebox & played darts on their electronic dartboard.
It was such a nice environment tonight.
They have a small back patio that you can smoke on & take your drink with you.
Prices are good.
There is no food here.
The bartender Tristan is really nice & great at his job.
I totally recommend this place.
Have drink on me !
PS- ladies, there is no lock on the bathroom stall.

Yelp
Was threatened by a customer via text after he left the bar saying that it was his sister and to stay right in the bar where I am because she's going to come down and kick my ass I have a bad hip that has to be replaced so I feared for my safety and then the bartender Kim who's worked there are like 3 weeks kicked me out because I'm 5'5 145 lb and I had to protect myself so I called the police and the bartender didn't like it and kicked me out

Yelp
If your looking for a low key local/neighborhood bar, look no further. Murrays is friendly, small but not too small. Staff is fun, friendly and entertaining at times. Jukebox is always on, darts and bowling to be played. Tristan and Meg will make the best popcorn, and drinks are very reasonably priced. Stop in and check it out!

Yelp
If you're not in their 'circle' you get snubbed! Most unfriendly people in here, including the old barmaid. Two-faced as hell! Some of the regulars have a 'mean streak' in them! Use to be a great place to party in back in the day, but lately....FORGET IT!!
