I enjoyed this visit so much! The museum is taking feminist approach and both of the main exhibits were about woman. Don't be fooled by the catalog stand in front of dressing rooms, there's a big gift shop with more stuff down the stairs. About the tickets, it's okay if you don't arrive exactly on your time, the time almost doesn't matter.

Refreshing, innovative, and different. The museum collection really pushes the visitor to challenge preconceptions in art and to witness a diverse portfolio of an answer to many fundamental enquiries in its history. A great exposé of diverse artists, providing a refreshing look at art, an explosion of colour at every corner in a very spacious, calm and minimalist setting. I did find quite the selection of books also, I would definitely recommend visiting the bookstore too.

Beautiful exhibitions! I absolutely loved the current ones, Matisse and Marguerite (his daughter and muse) and Gabriel Munter (Kandinsky’s girlfriend)

Visited with friend and was very lovely, free entry and a ton of things to admire because of the magnitude of the painting. Would highly recommend for a family trip, and there are other sections of the museum to explore although a couple of them are at an added cost.

I visited Paris to see the Matisse exhibition here and I wasn't disappointed. I found the space was good, the explanations helpful. At the same time there was an exhibition of work by Gabriele Munter who I had never heard of but whose work I really enjoyed.

Google
Visited MAM without a tour guide but no problem because the art pieces have English caption. I particularly liked a couple of the paintings and sculptures. Spent a solid 1.5 hours there. Highly recommended! Also helps that it is free admission.

Very impressive exhibition of Matisse et Marguerite. Beautiful museum by the Seine river.

Fineexample of constructivism architecture. All exhibitions are great curated. Noted in both FRA and EN. Cafeteria at Tokio center is a good place to refresh with a cup of coffee.

Yelp
Features contemporary art and permanent collection is free to the public. There are also paid exhibits but you'll just appreciate what they have downstairs. Their outside space has skateboarders and overlooks the Seine. Nice bookstore too.

Yelp
This museum is free! And there are hardly any other visitors! While not as big or famous as the Pompidou, this has plenty of great art from 1880-1960. It was well worth a couple of hours to enjoy art, see a view of the Eiffel Tower without the Trocadero crowds, rest tranquilly on benches, and use a clean bathroom with no line. You can spend money that you would have spent on tickets in the gift shop, compact but filled with lots of good stuff.

Yelp
"It was okay" is how I would reply, if asked about my visit (09/27/2023) to the Musee d' Art Moderne while in Paris for the 1st time. I have to say, having a lukewarm experience was disappointing & so unexpected. I must have hyped up the Musee d' Art Moderne in my head before visiting because I was so sure that because it was a PARIS museum that it was going to "wow" me from beginning to end because surely, all Paris museums were supposed to have that wow factor. On a positive note, at least I can now share a few helpful tidbits w/ others so hopefully, you'll have a wow experience! :) Helpful tidbits: - - - research exhibits beforehand: During my visit the majority of the exhibits on display didn't "wow" me so I would recommend doing a little research beforehand to see if the exhibits being shown when you go are something that would peak your interest (I didn't do this & wish I would have) - - - budget friendly thing to do! It is free to visit this Paris museum so a great location to use the restroom and/or take a break from all your Paris sightseeing - - - security screening & free coat/bag check Hope, this info helps! Yelp
Date of visit: September 11, 2022 We were hoping that the "modern art" in the title here would mean...modern art. But the museum considers anything in the last 150 years or so to be modern, so that was a bit of a disappointment. However, the museum is free and doesn't take a ton of time to get through, so if you are in the area, it's not a bad place to spent an hour or so. There are some interesting pieces, including a massive panel work that you really need a good five minutes to truly grasp as it's just so massive. They also have a couple of works by Matisse if you are looking for something that has a "name" you might recognize. If you were hoping to interact with staff that can enlighten you about some of the works, you will be mistaken as the folks hanging around to make sure you don't touch anything have as little interest in interacting with the patrons as you could imagine. Most signs are only in French as well, so I hope you've been practicing with Duolingo before visiting! If you can, avoid the side of the museum facing the Seine, it's super popular with skateboarders and it's an easy way to get taken out on your vacation, it's a bit of a cluster!

Yelp
I love this small museum with wide rooms where the art is beautifully showcased and on top of it the visit is free! It's not a big museum but totally worth it. Plus it's located at the Trocadero and you have great views of the Eiffel Tower from their café outside.

Yelp
This museum is smaller but still offers over 15,000 pieces of displays without the major crowd that other venues would have in Paris. The best part is the cost of admission = 0.00. I would suggest taking public transportation or walking towards the Effel Tower, and this should be an added attraction to see while in Paris.

Yelp
Nice selection of art! Not too much art or overwhelming. Feels restorative to look at paintings in art museum. It's also free.

Yelp
I came in a hot summer day to get out of the heat. I greatly enjoy how museums of modern and contemporary art have really nice chairs to sit and relax in. On a plus note the air conditioning in this museum works really well!

Yelp
This is a beautiful museum located in a prime location. They have a fantastic view of the canal and Eiffel Tower from their courtyard that they also share with Palais de Tokyo. I do wish I could have visited when they had different exhibits. Looking over the images from the past exhibits, they seem to have some amazing features. Unfortunately, during the time I visited, the featured exhibit didn't appeal to us. So we decided to just visit the permanent exhibits that didn't require admission fee. The café is lovely and carries some really great food and dessert options. We decided to just grab some water and cappuccinos during our visit. The cappuccinos were so good. A little on the pricier side, but standard to museum pricing. The book shop is great and has a lot of nice items. Found some gorgeous art prints, postcards and gift items. All the employees were very friendly, accommodating and helpful. I didn't know the coat check was free. Definitely a plus and must next time I'm there. I'd definitely like to come back next time I am in Paris!

Yelp
Wow. What a treat for your senses. The Raoul Dufy commissioned "Electricity Fairy" is a wonderous sight. The vivid colors, 110 inventors and scientists that contributed to the development of electricity, the expanse fills your soul with knowledge and awe. The outside was littered with beer bottles, fast food containers, broken glass -- very sad. Be very careful where you step. The permanent collection is free, and the visiting exhibits vary in cost.

Yelp
This was museum #4 on my very first day in Paris. I've been walking around all day, very tired, still wearing the same clothes I wore even on the airplane ride, but I wanted to push through and visit another museum. And I'm glad I came across this one. This museum is also part of the museum pass, so if you have the pass, the admittance is free. Some museums offer bypassing the queue if you have the pass. Note: No flash photography here and you can bring a backpack, though you can't wear it on your back. This museum offers a lot of great modern and contemporary art from artists around the world. There are some impressionism art here as well, but most are contemporary. They had other temporary exhibits for price admission that wasn't offered under the museum pass and most people were waiting in queue for those exhibits, but I just stuck with the permanent exhibits. One can be fully immersed into the main exhibit for hours in this museum. Really nice collections on hand. At the bottom floor they had movies/documentaries. Kinda weird, but I guess it's part of the attraction. But my favorite was the Gaza exhibit. A whole room dedicated to photos of this war torn land. The pictures of each person in Gaza were graphic; showing a loss of limb, eyes, scars etc. There were many photos of destroyed buildings too. You get that feeling that you are part of the making of this exhibit. It was that good, though disturbing. Again, I would recommend this museum. For both the casual art lover or for the random tourist. You will leave here a lot more learned.

Yelp
Amazing museum. Spent over an hour here when me and my wife visited in December. The art work is beautiful, if you admire art a lot you could easily spend a day here.

Yelp
Very nice museum- the main exhibitions- permanent are free of charge. Very good pieces of art. The only weak points were toilets, only 3 and 1 was out of order.

Yelp
Great museum located in the 16th arrondissement right next to the Palais de Tokyo. It's also FREE for the permeant collections where you can see original works by Picasso, so not a bad deal at all!!

Yelp
I could come here 200 times - I was very happy with my experience here. I really enjoy all. The pieces I did see I wish it was open later than 6 pm however it was nice to get to see what I saw for nothing at all.

Yelp
The permanent collection isn't really that large or interesting. It doesn't seem well updated. The courtyard outside is nice to sit in though.

Yelp
I absolutely love this museum for so many reasons so I'll just make a list of all the reasons why it's awesome: - The museum staff is awesome! They are all extremely friendly and very helpful. - When you walk to the museum from the metro or bus stop, be sure to keep an eye out for an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower. - Free coat check!!! I feel like it is almost impossible to get free coat check service anywhere... but they have it in this museum and with great service! - Great exhibits: Andy Warhol (until early 2016), Coworkers, etc... and a nice permanent collection - Permanent Collection = Free: at least go downstairs and check out their free permanent collection of modern and contemporary art - The ambiance surrounding the museum: I love that they let skateboarders practice right outside the museum - I noticed the same thing at the museum in Barcelona and I think it's pretty cool. Also, lots of people are sitting outside the museum cafe doing work, having conversations, or just enjoying the awesome view of the Eiffel Tower. I love the social atmosphere of this place. If you're looking for a chill weekend activity, I highly recommend Musee d'Art Moderne! ... just another reason why I love living in Paris. Note: It gets crowded so go early in the day!

Yelp
I couldn't believe the variety and quality of the works housed here. Wow! I just saw the permanent collection (free) but was blown away by the paintings of Picasso, Derain, Matisse, Delacroix and more. I was almost alone in each gallery room. A GREAT find.
