The Best Exhibitions To See In Paris Right Now: Spring/Summer 2025

With ‘Robert Doisneau: Instants Donnés’, this museum offers a rich and personal exhibition that proves Robert Doisneau was far more than the creator of the famous image ‘The Kiss by the Hôtel de Ville’. Curated in part by his daughters Francine Deroudille and Annette Doisneau, the show presents a photographer driven not just by aesthetics but by empathy, drawing from an archive of over 450,000 negatives. It doesn’t just display his images; it shares the way he saw people, full of warmth, wit and moments of unfiltered humanity. - Zoé Terouinard

11 Must-See Exhibitions In Paris for Spring 2025

After an eight-year absence from Parisian museums, Robert Doisneau returns in style to this venue, which will showcase 250 black-and-white and colour photographs ranging from Parisian suburbia in the 1930s to the fashion world of the post-war era, promising brilliant insight into the timeless magic of Doisneau’s lens. - Rémi Morvan

Google
I visited the Robert Doisneau photographic exhibition which I felt was well curated, telling the story of this very interesting photographer and then breaking the exhibition down in to themes or periods of his work, including a collaboration with the artist Maillol. I find his photographs provide an historical story of life, mainly in Paris but in other areas of France also. Fascinating.

Such a great opportunity to see french photography.

The museum is centered around the work of Aristide Maillol. Temporary exhibitions complement his work. The exhibitions are of smaller volume.

Could not get into d’Orsay due to being disorganised lol, and stumbled upon this cute small museum. What a relief! Loved the photos (even tho, be warned, this museum aggressively over-indexes on naked women! Tiresome in this year of 2025, but we move.) What really struck me was this image (attached): three individuals, clearly of equal visual hierarchy. Yet the museum only names the two men. A quick Google reveals the unnamed woman is Suzanne Duchamp, a brilliant Dadaist artist in her own right. She wasn’t just Marcel’s sister - she exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants, played a key role in the Dada movement, and created radical, multi-media work that interrogated war, identity, and power. To the museum: this is lazy. Do better. Feature more women - including with clothing. Credit more women. I’m tired!!!!

We visited here to see the Robert Dosineau photography exhibit, which was fabulous! I believe the show has ended, but the venue is wonderful and I’d recommend seeing what else comes here.

I enjoyed both special exhibition and permeant exhibition so much. It was impressive that the curator try to merge contemporary works into the permeant exhibition. Also enjoyed free audio guide done by the artist himself. Thumbs up for the thoughtfulness :-)

Yelp
I saw the Steve Mccurry exhibit of his photographs and the museum was great. Very clean and easy to navigate.

Yelp
What a lovely little museum - if we hadn't been staying around the corner, I'm not sure we would have stumbled upon the Maillol, but I'm so glad we did and just in time for a delightful Canaletto show. The Maillol work alone wouldn't be enough to draw me here (though there are some lovely voluptuous sculptures!), but the special exhibitions are, I hear, consistently excellent. If you're looking for a break from the tourist path, this is worth checking out.

Yelp
It's a little odd that a museum that sells a 3.59€ iPhone app as an audio guide would not let visitors take pictures. If they wanted to be modern, they would understand that visitors like to share what they see with their friends at home. Odder still, the staff was very quick to let me know that photography was forbidden (I had missed the inconspicuous icon near the entrance, like everyone else). But just before, a guy in a wheelchair got fed up of waiting for them to put rails on the stairs. So he climbed out of his chair and crawled up the stairs. If you are afraid that old-fashioned Parisian service friendliness is disappearing, you might enjoy a visit to Musée Maillol.
