Musée national de l'histoire de l'immigration

J'adore ce musée et particulierement cette exposition sur la Migration et la climat. C’est tres inspirant et J’ai beaucoup arpris dune maniere tres belle et touchante! One of the most inspiring and moving experiences I’ve ever had at any museum. An absolute must visit if you ever in Paris. I learned so much from reading the caption in every section of history, and enjoyed it immensely. Also all the staffs are amazing friendly, no rudeness, no racist behavior towards anyone, from the security the billets and the receptionists are all informative and helpful. Also this museum has its own charm character, not only beautifully designed and decorated but also every corner seems has its own special ambience.

Museum without accessibility features for kids and people with disabilities. We were family of 6 with 3 kids and there is not even one lift in the museum or a slide for stroller. In the aquarium there are few stairs and there is a little open lift to pass from a floo to another but a person who works there (middle aged, white hair man) told us that our kid was too big and the lift was not for him. Our kid is 1 year old and barely walk! We have to carry the stroller up and down the aquarium with other kids behinh us. Unbelievable. the aquarium itself is overpriced and there is no much to see but the immigration museum is interesting. Would not go back after paying 48 euro and carry the stroller up and down the staircase.

The new temporary exhibit about Climate Change was in French, English, Spanish and incl..a sign language interpreter. It was interactive and interesting for adults and children.. Don 't forget to see the permanent exhibit on immigration as well.

One of the most inspiring and moving experiences I’ve ever had at any museum. An absolute must!

This museum is the best place to know about the immigration history of France. You gain so much how France has changed and evolved and revolutionized over the years and has welcomed every race and ethnicity.

A newly renovated museum with an interesting story. The building is interesting to look around and you can visit the big main room for free. There is a cafe and cloak room. A lot of the actual museum mostly had writing on the walls with some objects and a couple of videos. Because of this I don’t think it’s very interesting for young children. The information on big panels is translated to English and the smaller panels just in french. There’s a music room where you can listen to playlists and relax part way through your visit. The museums follows the history of immigration in France all the way up to the present day. Underneath the museum there is a tropical aquarium. I went on a weekday in summer and it wasn’t busy.

The temporary Olympics exhibition was amazing! It has great history presented in an easy to read format in both English and French. I learned a lot and enjoyed the short trip out here from the 11th arr.

Staff was a bit unfriendly and we were kicked out of multiple areas of the museum because they were setting up for something else. Hard to find entrance too. Temporary exhibit was very interesting. Aquarium is a nice place to visit, however. A bit dark as it’s underground but fun for the kids.

Also had a chance to visit the library here. All in French the collection is a handy tool used to teach dozens of students daily. Nice tables and chairs also make it a good place to read and find out more - open afternoons.

Extremely interesting. On the first floor there's a little exhibit on the history of the Palais de la Porte Dorée itself, which first hosted a colonial exhibition in 1931 and a series of colonially-minded collections before becoming the museum it is today. You can then find a section made of personal items donated by individuals to the museums: family photographs, objects of devotion, musical instruments, old postcards. I found it a very interesting insight on the 'plural voices of migration', as the museum puts it, and liked the fact that this section is varied chronologically and geographically. The centerpiece is the exhibit on migrations which develop thematically rather than chronologically/geographically. Some topics I remember: sport as a means of integration, music as a means of integration (with a nice jukebox of French songs written by / about migrants), lodging issues connected to immigration, food and immigration. It's a small museum and I personally spent about 2hrs inside. Tip: if you visit on Sundays (but apparently also on Thursdays) you can enjoy the local market (Marché de la Porte Dorée) and have a snack there. Just across the museum is the nice Bois de Vincennes. While I visited, the Palazzo Café just outside the museum (not the museum coffee shop, which is inside the Palais) offered snacks and drinks on a very nice patio. The only reason why I did not give a 5 stars rating: only some of the explanations are translated (into English, some are translated also into German and/or Spanish), therefore visitors who do not read French might only partially enjoy the exhibits.
