Land and Sea Dept. Taps Industry Veteran to Lead Cherry Circle Room | Eater Chicago

"The Gold Coast Italian restaurant hired a native Sardinian as executive chef and launched a menu that fuses Mediterranean and Sardinian flavors with Italian foundations; the chef trained from a young age across Europe and spent time in Madrid learning to blend Italian and Spanish techniques." - Ashok Selvam

How to Spend 4 Days in Madrid (Updated 2025)

"I appreciated the Museum of History for tracing Madrid’s evolution from the 16th century through World War I, showcasing daily life via artifacts, maps, paintings, and sculptures (including works by Francisco Goya) to offer a nuanced look at the city’s past." - Matthew Kepnes

Google
An underrated museum about the history of the city of Madrid - an intelligent display of urban history that really impressed. It's free to visit and I would recommend it for history/urbanist lovers. Plus there are some splendid historical paintings inside as well. It was one of my favourite museums in Madrid.

An absolutely stunning museum explaining the history of Madrid. There is some work being done on the first side of the building, but even the covering which protects the restoration is a work of art. It is free admission for this museum and absolutely worth a visit. The collection is amazing and includes everything from paintings sculptures Drawings, models to clothing, fans, pottery, ceramics, and cartography. One of my favorite things was the model of the bullfighting Arena, which is incredibly detailed, including hundreds of miniature spectators. Some of the artists who have paintings include Velasquez and Madrazo. Absolutely worth a visit.

Museo de Historia de Madrid is a small but fascinating museum full of rich items that beautifully explain the history of Madrid. The entry is free, which is a great bonus! I recommend starting your visit by taking the elevator to the top floor and then using the stairs to explore each floor on your way down. This way, you won't miss anything. It's a wonderful place for anyone interested in learning more about the city's past. Highly recommended!

Google
Great museum! Nicely arranged and interesting things around every corner. Nice to see the history of the city presented in a easy and beautiful way. Painting and photos and sculpture and artifacts tell the story. Everything from beautiful laquered leather portraits on small daily items to clothing and dining items. This museum doesn't overwhelm but tells a lovely story. Great work Madrid!

Google
This is easily one of the best free museums I’ve ever been. The layout in very good, there are four floors dividing the history of Madrid (obviously not Spain) with a deep dive on history, culture, arts, entertainment, clothing, diversity and woman empowerment.

Google
free entry with high varieties of collections. Clear illustrations of the history of Madrid. May take more than 3 hours for a thorough visit of all items.

Google
A very well curated museum as you go through the different eras of Madrid. Gives you context to the city after sightseeing around it. Lets you get up close to some very old artifacts. --And the best part; it's free too!

Google
Very good exhibition on Madrids history and development. Most items has explanation in both Spanish and English. Carlos III has definitely made a huge impact. Bonus is that it is free...

Yelp
I wouldn't call this museum a must see, but it is an excellent history museum with some fabulous art. The history of Madrid is largely told by art, but also maps, sketches models, artifacts, and eventually at the top, photographs. The history ends at industrialization, maybe because that's all they had room for. The grounds and entrance are picturesque. We went on a free day, but it's worth the regular admission. One to two hours, you could easily visit here and the nearby Romantic Museum in an afternoon. A good choice for after the three days of the Golden Triangle of big Madrid art museums. The neighborhood has lots of cafes, pastry shops, affordable dining, bookstores, and Michalin star restaurants so maybe make an afternoon and evening of the Chambri area. If you are staying nearby I think this is a must see stop. Very close to Hotel Sardinero and the Tribunal Metro stop.
