Small 8 room museum worth a visit if you’re in the area. I would not go out of my way for it if it was far away from my hotel. I walked from courtyard Marriott and took an uber back. It’s maintained and kept by the university and they charge 60 quetzales for non locals if you want to take pictures inside.

It was OK but to be honest, I was expecting to see more for 45q, if you already know some about the mayan culture and have traveled to other parts of Guatemala, you won't be learning anything new but it's still a nice site to visit of you want to kill a half day.

Amazing museum slowly taking you through the years of Guatemalan history. Tickets were around £4 each. Campus is amazing!

Beautiful museum with a wealth of information and a ton to see. I wish I had a little more time here but one could spend quite a long time enjoying.

We really enjoy seeing museums when we travel. This is a small museum and you can easily walk through in under an hour. It’s well done, but there is a limited amount of pieces. Also, the descriptions don’t have dates, which would be a welcome addition. Entry is 45 Quetzal.

The museum is located among the lush green scenery, in the nice building, the staff is very polite and friendly, exposition has a nice balance between the quantity of information and the presented artefacts :) So it's relaxing, instead of overwhelming like it could be in case of a museum.. I really recommend the visit! It takes about 1 hour.

Museo Popol Vuh truly blew me away. It’s a small museum, tucked inside a private university—safe, easy to access and packed with history. While the space could use some updates, what it holds are essential cultural treasures. The carvings, potter and everyday objects are a testament to the creativity and craftsmanship of ancient Guatemala. One piece that stayed with me was a child’s sonajera (rattle)—a gentle reminder that even centuries ago, kids needed joy and play. It’s a quiet but powerful museum that makes you feel the humanity behind the history.
