Yelp
Mush is a small, cozy and clean Armenian bakery(the best) with plenty of affordable and delicious savory foods, great service, and character; a gorgeous mural depicts traditional Armenian bread-making and garb. The spot is located on the southern wall of the 99 cent store plaza on Sunset and has two tables inside and two always-available parking spots plus plenty of plaza parking. My go to for savory Armenian baked goods.
The bf and I are so glad we took a risk on this place a few years back. Haven't stopped coming in since. We usually take home and toast the spicy borek ($4), which will really fill you up, but its wonderful in any form and they'll heat it up for you if you wish. We also love their lahmajoun, it's the best in town. Armenians traditionally squeeze fresh lemon on top(she's usually got some in the fridge), but that's unnecessary here. It's so tasty as is, and at $1.25 each, $5 worth will more than fill you up. And if you happen to get some right outta the oven, brace yourself, they're gonna be heavenly in the first five minutes. You can freeze a few for some quick comfort food weeks down the line, though. The cheese, spinach, and cheese/spinach combo boreks are also delicious.
Yet, the best part of Mush isn't the food, it's the owner Manush. She's been a sweetheart since the first day we walked in. Being pierced and tatted Armenians usually gets us the opposite of special treatment, but Manush looks past all that. Her food is made with love, and she doesn't skimp on ingredients, unlike others. She's a wise lady who's humbly proud of what she's built and we love chatting with her. Affordable, quality food served with smiles? Yes, please. Twice a week, at least.
