The place is cute but beware of the employees making up their own prices. I've been here many times but today they rubbed me off the wrong way. Making up prices on the fly when their products are clearly labeled another price?! Shadey!!

This place is like a fever dream—but in the best way possible! Need plants? Hardware? Incense? Quartz? A spot to work? Or just a good cup of coffee or tea? Boom, they’ve got it all! ✨ The coffee shop doesn’t have a huge menu, but what they do have is chef’s kiss. And the staff? Absolute legends. Super cool, super friendly, and just radiating good vibes. (Seriously, the two guys working there—I need them in my friend group ASAP! 😂) It’s the kind of place where you go for one thing and end up staying way longer just because it feels that good. 10/10 would vibe here again! 💖

Mushtari Hardware & Garden offers a unique experience, located in the back of a hardware store. The space is filled with beautiful plants, creating a serene atmosphere that sets it apart from typical cafés. Their menu features a nice selection of coffee, tea, and fresh pastries. What makes this place special is the unexpected blend of hardware, plants, and café, enhanced by pleasant background music and a friendly staff. The coffee shop is conveniently accessible from the entrance on 125th street or 126th street. This is my favorite coffee shop, so I consider Mustari Hardware & Garden is truly worth a visit.

I want to thank Mushtari so much for their wonderful help over the years. It has always been my one stop shop to get plants, supplies for plants, extra keys, tools and what ever random thing I need for the house at the time. Things came full circle in October 2024 when my wife and I got married. They helped us with the plants for the wedding souvenirs and came through amazingly. Safe to say it’s almost been a year and everyone who came to the wedding has reported that the plants stayed alive and healthy. Thank you guys so much for helping make my favorite day extra special.

This review is only for the coffee shop. It is such a vibrant community space in Harlem. The baristas really make the experience worthwhile, they are always friendly and welcoming . The coffee is great too. Love the back seating area that looks out towards the brownstones.

Amazing plant, garden, home, and hardware shop. Mostly had plants like the snake plant or money tree to clean and purify your air while also adding nature to your space. Staff are super helpful. Happened here after the coffee shop worker was M.I.A.

One of my fav lil spots to go to when I need a plant or two, nice selection! And great pots!! I have yet to try the coffee! 😌❤️❤️❤️

The hidden cafe in the middle of the store is just lovely. Super friendly staff, good wifi and one available restroom.

I love coming here to buy plant foods. There's also a small coffee shop in the back with limited seating. The ambiance is chill! The staff can be a little rude so I usually look for my own items.

This is the coolest and most beautiful hardware store! Conveniently located off the 2&3 125th station in Harlem, I was blown away by all the live plants inside! PLUS there's a secret cafe tucked in the back with seating and drinks. Service was friendly and I thought the pricing was very reasonable. Such a cool gem that I'm happy to have stumbled upon!

This place is small but generally has what I need for day-to-day stuff at reasonable prices.

I really love this hardware/plant store! I don't live super close, but I make it a point to come here when I can. I think they have a nice layout with most of the hardware being downstairs, and a cafe in the middle. Everyone at the cafe is always so nice to me, and the seating area is very cute. I've been here before to work and it was very relaxing workspace. I recently came here and dropped $20 cash on the floor, and the staff picked it up and returned it to me when I noticed I lost it. All of the staff here are really friendly and helpful, their plants are priced fairly and well taken care of, and I really enjoy coming here.

Hi Rupak, if I agree to give the cafe another chance, will you agree to remove the publication? You said that your business is "welcome to all", yet that was not my impression. I have friends that were slaughtered on Oct. 7, and one friend who is a recently released hostage. If I and others want information about the conflict, we can tune into the news. If we want to enjoy ourself and disconnect, a cafe that is "truly welcome to all", seems like a great place to do so. Thank you for listening.

I love my local plant shop. I have to be careful not to spend my whole paycheck here. Every time i walk in i feel transported to somewhere lush and green and not in the middle of the city!

OVERPRICED, rude AND LOST MY ORCHID. Why would a small business and especially a hardware store alienate a customer that can GET products on Amazon CHEAPER lol! I've been going there for years because I live across the street. I went first thing in the morning for an item (their items are ALWAYS over priced - $6 for a box cutter that never worked - but I got over that because of the time). So I go downstairs to get what I need and I see two other customer also doing the same. I walk upstairs wait on line as I have done for YEARS. There is a Stanton and rug area with the cashier. So that's where I wait on line. To my surprise the two gentlemen who were down stairs come upstairs and stand in front the other register and get served before I do. I asked a SIMPLE question. How does this line function because I have been waiting and these two gentlemen are being serviced before me. The cashier stated that the line I was on took cards and the other line wash cash. AS THE MAN WAS PAYING WITH A CARD. I am NOT an idiot and I don't appreciate being lied to and gaslight and then told I need to "relax it's too early in the morning". As if I'm overracting. That and I also left my orchid there to be repotted and they LOST MY ORCHID. I went a few months ago to repot my orchid. At that time their "card machines were down". They offered to keep my orchid and when I return OVERpay lol for the pot and repotting. They LOST my orchid. I came several times. I even left them my name an number. THEY NEVER CALLED. So I guess some of these "new" Harlem residents are fine with overpaying and being condescended and lied to, but not I. I have been an educator and advocate in Harlem for 20 years. A fellowship from Columbia University on community outreach- but I guess since I didn't arrive with my resume- I deserved being treated like the manure used to fertile plants. LOL TOO BAD. Because I've spent HUNDREDS of dollars on plants and renovation but they will NEVER get a penny from me. I have TWO hibsicus trees. I guess I will also get whatever I NEED from AMAZON LOL and Whole Foods across the street - their plants are ALWAYS CHEAPER. SO stupid. A small business right before the holidays is going to be RUDE to a customer when we all know AMAZON can eat them up alive LOL. Silly rabbits - trix are for kids.

Highly recommended! Everyone here is so friendly and helpful! I came in this morning to pick up some screws for the license plate on my car (screw the plate into the bracket). I showed the gentleman one of the screws, and he made sure that I got the exact screws that I needed. Another gentlemen also asked before I checked out if I managed to find the right screw, and I find that very nice, since it showed a sense of caring and compassion for the customer, which is something so many stores are forgetting about. Just note that there is a $10 credit/debit card minimum, so if you are buying something under $10 after tax, you need to pay cash.

Such a cute hardware store/garden center/cafe! They have anything you could possibly need all in a hidden shop in Harlem.

I love this place! I drive in from The Bronx whenever I need bamboo stalks to shore up my tropical plants or something unique I can't get readily buy anywhere else. It looks like they've reorganized and expanded their plant department and quite a few specimens have caught my eye. Everytime I've come here the staff haa been amazing. They're always pleasant, helpful and know what they're talking about. The place isn't big but its, very organized and jam packed with merchandise. Those of us with mild OCD won't be triggered here. LOL. If you're in the area, [and even if you're not], you should stop by.

I go in this hardware store from time to time however the past couple of times I went in they didn't have the tool small enough for my screws just like what happened today.

just the most eclectic, convenient, all-inclusive hardware (and housewares) store you could imagine. there is a cafe in the middle! i don't know who owns it but it's brilliant and interesting; i love going there to grab whatever small (or large) hardware thing i need. i also love to go browse if i have a few minutes- the interesting finds...from glass jars to incense to nails to crystals (yes i said crystals!). oh, and plants! if you like houseplants or have a little garden- they have a reasonably extensive selection for a neighborhood hardware store! just adore this place and they have always had some version of what i needed. it's FAB.

My go-to hardware store in Harlem - not the closest but definitely the best one. I buy everything from basic household hardware needs, to lots of plants over the years (great selection of indoor, outdoor plants, high quality). And a great little coffee shop - good coffee and pastries selection, really nice staff! Highly recommend.

Not only does this store meet the classic example of the New York City hardware store, with everything you could want in a small space, it excels with one of the best selections of plants anywhere in the city!

Guys in the store- great customer service. The women at the register, not so much. Woman- "We have a minimum for credit cards" walks away from me AND my bag of plant food waiting at the counter. Gone. A better response would be to recommend something I need along with the plant food to get to the cc minimum, no? This is all after discussing what plant food to buy with the guys Way to make the sale! NEXT!

I liked the idea of this plant store with a little cafe in the center. Since the renovation, I regularly visit the cafe, purchase a latte and then end up buying a plant or two. However, this is my second time buying a plant from that store that was infected with small gnats. The gnats cause the leaves on my plants to turn yellow and the plant to eventually die. The gnats have now infected my other plants and I am at a loss at what to do at this point. My friends describe my home as a jungle as I have so many plants. Now, I will seek out alternate advice to see how I can get rid of the gnats that are killing my plant babies. As you can imagine, changing out dirt on all these plants is an expensive process which will itself take all day. In addition to the gnats, I was at the store recently when a gentleman bought a large plant that cost well over a hundred dollars. The employees wrapped up the plant but failed to even help the man exit the store with his purchase. While it was not their job to help him leave the store with his plant, it would be considered customer service. I was paying for my (infected) plant and saw that the customer needed help. I pointed it out to the female cashier and asked her said if someone could help him get the door as he was having trouble opening it with the plant in his hand. The cashier looked at me and pretended she did not hear what I said. My friend who was with me ran over and helped the customer with the door instead of an employee. I asked the girl if she heard me and she looked at me and pretended as though she did not understand. My friend also came back and asked if there was no one who could help the gentleman. The girl ignored us. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. These two incidents are the reason why I would not recommend this store and will not support their business

I love this shop! It's has so many things you would need! I first stumbled upon this place with my sister and we had no idea what a hidden gem this place would be! It's a huge plant store and hardware store AND coffee shop! I mainly come for the plants because they a really reasonably priced and that hard to find at local shops. Bonus the folks who work there are so kind and helpful!

What every reviewer says about the service is completely correct. However, I have now been there so often I know who to ask and who not to ask. It's also true that not all of them are super upbeat and friendly all the time. I like friendly people, but if some guy at the hardware store isn't feeling so friendly one afternoon it doesn't change my day. There are plenty of employees, find one who knows their stuff and suits your appropriate level of friendly. They do have EVERYTHING you could possibly need from a hardware store and more.

I love this store. The staff is knowledgeable and always courteous. As a plant enthusiast this is my go to spot for supplies from neem oil to cactus potting mix. They have a good selection of plants with some sought after gems like string of hearts coming in every so often. Living in the vicinity offers the luxury of popping in frequently and I rarely leave empty handed. It's worth the visit even if just to browse the plant aisle.

I came in last week and was very impressed with the knowledge and customer service that I received. The name of the employee that helped me was Noel and I would go out of my way to come to this location because of how helpful he was.

WOW!!! I'd walked by this new store which appeared to be a small hardware store with some plants outside and was pleasantly shocked. It is a small emporium with anything you might need but the items all seemed well thought out and something you might need. Then there's an entire "greenhouse" in the rear of the store which adjoins what appears to be a bar/restaurant that opens onto 126th Street. A real neighborhood gem.

Just want a neighborhood hardware store should be very warm and welcoming. I walked in looking for something to repair my "granny cart". Yes, I rock a granny cart! :-) Nice salespeople, who are friendly and eager to help, impressive selection of home, hardware, garden, paint, electronic or plumbing supplies, with reasonable prices and a hidden greenhouse in the back of the store. The store itself looks much smaller from the outside than it actually is. Although, I was not able to find a "nut" (no pun intended, so no comments from the perverted peanut gallery) or "bolt" for my cart. The sales person went out of his way to help me, but told me my cart could not be repaired. I inquired if they had any carts to replace my cart. He showed me three carts on display, high up on wall. He pulled the sized down I wanted and I tested it out. When I stated I thought something was wrong with the wheel but I liked the size, style. He said, "Oh, that's just the display, I only pulled that down for you to test it out". I thought that was the cart I was going to buy. Once I told him I liked it, he then asked me if I had a color preference. Without notice, he disappears and two minutes later, he returns with a brand spanking new state of the art pimped out granny cart that would make Xzibit proud! While I was in the store, there people being helped who needed keys; paint sample, flowers, seeds and other greenery. I felt like anyone can come in, ask a question and be offered quality customer service without a condescending attitude. I only give it four stars instead of five because a couple of sales looked to be new and not quite a knowledgably as the guy I that helped me. This is definitely a local business that should be supported!

The staff is knowledgeable and friendly (especially the young one), they have more items that I can think of, and even though the plant selection wasn't mind-blowing, it was quite impressive. i particularly liked that nobody rushed me while i was going up and down the aisles to get ideas (and i really did go up and down a while, clearly not wanting any help), but they jumped to help me as soon as i lifted my chin and looked at them. I'll go back soon, guaranteed.

What an excellent little hardware store. If you're new to the neighborhood or making some apartment improvements, check it out. note: I bought a very healthy looking plant here, which, despite my best efforts to kill it, remains glossy-leaved and perky.

I love, love, love this hardware store. now mind you, I cant even screw in a lightbulb without shedding blood, sweat and tears so the fact that this hardware store doesnt intimidate me is really saying something. i go in there anytime I need something because I know the staff is friendly and helpful. my kids and I also enjoy the wind chime, water fountain & plant collection they have in the greenhouse at the back of the store. I also go in there just for kicks because it smells good.

A gem of a hardware/houseware/garden supply store! Mushtari carries a really nice selection of everything one would need to make their apartment feel lived in. On your way to the back of the store and the widest selection of garden supplies and plants in Harlem, you'll pass everything from snazzy shower curtains, candles, kitchen equipment and accessories, to plenty of actual tools too. I am a very lucky girl to work so close by - I'd travel out of my way to get here but it's even more lovely to have such a great resource so convenient. Right smack in the middle of the hectic ugliness that is 125th Street, Mushtari Hardware is an oasis of calm prettiness waiting to happen.

So yea. it's super cute. Right on 125th closer to Lenox/ 7th than 5th Ave. I called, an associate promptly answered the phone. When I walked down to the store not only the employees are kind but those shopping are courteous as well due to the vast product and small space that is Mushtari Hardware. There are also plants available & Incense. Cute little community hardware store.

It's a good hardware shop in the sense that it has all of the essentials, a helpful staff, and it is cleanly organized. I wasn't impressed by the prices though. I was looking for just a tape measure. A staff member immediately showed me to the tape measures where there was over a dozen different ones to choose from. I was disappoint however that the cheapest one was $8 and the other ones were much more expensive.

the best hardware store north of 42nd street, or anywhere. period. Benjamin Moore, hardware, planters, greens and gardening supplies. Curtains? Window shades? Matchstick blinds? Oh, they have those too. Christmas decor? Yes. TONS. If you like Jamali, you'll love Mushtari.

It's great having such a wonderful hardware store in our neighborhood! Since COVID they have been carrying masks at reasonable prices as well!

Great little neighborhood hardware store. Helpful staff. Lots of stuff crammed into the isle so don't be afraid to ask if you can't find what your looking for. Bought lots of misc hardware here as well as some small lumber.

Customer service was not helpful or knowledgeable. They could not match the color of a paint i had just purchased two days earlier. Hopped in the back of a taxi to realize the paint he sold me was open and all over my backpack and the uber. Went back in and the manager did not even apologize...obviously not the owner. No money out of his pocket. I will never step foot in this store again. The paint store on 141 and ACP is much more helpful.

If I write, "I love this place," everyone will think it's fake. But I love this place. They have everything and are professional hardware people. You can walk in and say "I need a thingamajig for the whatsyamacallit" and they will ask, "Do you need the left-handed one or the right?" There are things I couldn't find at Home Depot, I found at this little store (the right size wick for a gas lantern). If I have one complaint is that as more people move up here, it is getting crowded on weekends. I am posting because I hope the owner sees this (he is not at the store) and gives his staff a raise for the stellar work they do.

A small but decent hardware store on 125th Street. It is packed full of junk. I went in to get a few keys made ($1.49 a pop) and walked out with the keys and a new bathmat (only $6). The aisles are thin so if you are on the larger side, I would avoid shopping here. Other than that, the service is good and the plant selection is the best in the area. If you're looking for common items (rulers, power strips, etc), check Rite Aid and/or CVS first. They are bound to be cheaper there. If you're looking for more particular hardware items (allen wrench set, calk, etc), then this is your spot.

This store is a gem in Harlem, and I'm lucky to live around the corner from it. The only reason why it doesn't get 5 stars from me is that I wish it were open a bit later in the evenings! The service is always friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable. They don't try to play Harlem residents by selling crap, either--the products (and plants) are high-quality and long lasting. Support this local business, Harlemites!

I've never been that enthralled with the selection or the service but they are my local hardware store and as such have tried to shop there as much as possible as I'm not a fan of the big box stores either. However, after the shocking experience I just had there I can no longer shop or promote them. If you live in the neighborhood I strongly suggest Columbus Distributors where they are actually nice AND knowledgable.

I make the trip to Mushtari on a weekly basis. Mainly for there amazing plant selection. The whole front of the store is filled with a huge assortment of flowers, vines, and trees. There is always something new that I must have. Every plant I have bought here is healthy and thriving on my stoop. They also have a nice selection of house plants and planters in the back. The people here are amazing. Very friendly and will help you find anything you need. With this place in my Neighborhood there is no reason to ever go to Home Depot

This place is suitable for humans you can shop touch things nothing is locked up like in most harlem stores. The staff is very nice and helpful. they carry a wide variety of hardware house hold items and plants. The store is also dog friendly you can run in and get something with out them getting all weird about your dog. i might add my dog is very well behaved maybe it the leash, maybe parents should consider for there unruly children. The place is clean and upscale and has been around for quite some time and they even deliver. This is one of the few reasons i even go outside uptown great job guys.

This place is great! it was recommended by a friend, and I went in and brought paint to paint my living room. The staff was very knowledgeable and patient, no one rushed me in making my color choice. They mixed the paint for me 123. Its good quality paint, I've had no issues with streaking, chipping, or cleaning. I have no complaints, however, they do not give cash back refunds only store credit. So be sure when purchasing because you will not be able to get your money back.I will be visiting again for more paint this time for my bedroom.

Buying 6 Mason/Ball jars accounts to a case, no matter how they are packaged. Having been a loyal customer since I moved into the neighborhood, I have frequented Mushtari weekly. No longer. I do not like being overcharged. I do like the extremely inconsistent customer service. Some of your staff are great, truly outstanding; but then they are far overshadowed by those who really don't care whatsoever or just are dense. After my pointing out the overcharge, they say it has to be packaged all together. Really? Oh yes, they said. I could unpack what I've already packed myself, have everything refunded, then they would go to the basement and bring up 6 identical jars, save for the cardboard base and plastic wrap around them, and I could buy those. Really? Unbelievable!

Fantastic neighborhood hardware store. Very helpful staff. Impressive selection of healthy looking, reasonably priced houseplants. I will definitely be back!!
