Since Mussel Bar & Grille was conveniently located across the street from our hotel, we decided to drop by because we were too pooped to venture too far from our hotel for an early dinner. It turns out that we made a great decision to dine at Mussel Bar & Grille. First of, our server/bartender was absolutely amazing because she made sure that we taken care of throughout our meal.
For our dining pleasure, we went with the Roasted Beet & Burrata Salad, Fried Calamari (served with yellow curry aioli, harissa aioli, and the Thai Curry Mussels. While everything was delicious, I have to say that the combination of the yellow curry and harissa aioli really elevated the fried calamari. The mussels were really delicious and fresh, but I wish the green curry + coconut milk + peanut sauce for the mussels had a bit more flavor. The sauce wasn't bad, but it tasted a bit watered down. Other than that minor complaint, all of our food was amazing.
The grille has an extensive cocktail and spirits list. If memory serves me correctly, I think I counted at 15+ types of bourbon, rye whiskey, tequila, and scotch. In addition to the long list of cocktails and spirits, the restaurant has a MASSIVE amount of beers on draft. In terms of adult beverages, I think everyone in your party will find something that they will like. I even was feeling experimental and decided to try the oyster shooter gin martini. This wasn't the actual name of the cocktail, but I forgot the real name. The martini is prepared with a horseradish-infused gin and served with a raw oyster. I was not a huge fan of the is beverage because I thought that the horseradish and olive juice flavors really did not go hand in hand. But, hey, YOLO. Looking back, I wish that I asked to try the horseradish-infused gin alone because I think that would be great for a standard gin&soda or gin&tonic.
Overall, we had a wonderful time at Mussel Bar & Grill and hope to return when we are in that part of Arlington.
